Re: Nintendo Not Looking To Churn Out Yearly Sequels To Its Core Franchises, Feels DLC Keeps Games Feeling Fresh

MrGuinea

The only thing I dislike is the rehashing of all these mario games. They could work on title like FZero, Kid Icarus, Battalion Wars, Metroid, Ice Climbers, Balloon Fight, or heck, even new IPs like Splatoon! I don't want another mario sports game, or the renewal of a mario game that's just a few years old when there's plenty of older IPs that could use an update.

Overall, I think this is a good idea as long as they don't spread their teams too thin and can't develop new games.

Re: Nintendo: Wii U GamePad Is The Only Real Innovation This Console Cycle, But We Didn't Showcase It Well Enough

MrGuinea

They didn't market the gamepad at ALL. If they would have maybe people wouldn't have taken almost a year to realize the Wii U was a different system than the wii. The main games I can think of that used it the best were ZombiU, Pikmin, and NintendoLand. All other games may have used off TV play or the touch screen but how was that different than pointing and clicking with the remote? The HD graphics were enough but when the main selling point isn't a selling point we basically got an upgraded wii. Innovative ideas are what keeps nintendo from needing a graphic powerhouse system.

Kind of stinks that they are just now figuring out their own console after almost 3 years of it being out. If more games and companies leveraged it, it could have been a lot better than what it was. Especially since a lot of first party games will be missed this cycle that could have done something with it (battalion wars, fire emblem, metroid, zelda). I just hope they plan marketing BEFORE they release the NX, otherwise nobody will understand that either.

Re: Zombi Reveal Trailer Suggests That Wii U Gamers Need Not Be Too Jealous

MrGuinea

@HollywoodHogan
It's for the exact reason I said why it didn't sell well. That and the launch didn't give much of an install base. But if you look at most reviews they complain about the slow gameplay and how zombies took too long to kill. Survival horror games have become run-and-guns for consoles these days so it honestly wouldn't surprise me if they made those changes.

Re: Zombi Reveal Trailer Suggests That Wii U Gamers Need Not Be Too Jealous

MrGuinea

They probably made some changes to it, like making the zombies one hit kill with the bat, and placing ammo every few steps away. And they probably threw out the gamepad inventory screen and just gave you a bat, pistol and assault rifle to start so you'd never even need an inventory. They had to appeal to all those hardcore gamers on those systems after all.

Re: Nintendo Quality Of Life Patent Applications Appear Online

MrGuinea

Jeese, people go nuts over the simplest things. People are treating this patent like it's the actual thing. Of course it's underwhelming and boring because it's a PATENT. So unless you were planning on patenting something similar there isn't much to see here because more rumors that spiral out of control. I read the first sentence, the middle sentence and looked at the pictures. I'm not looking to far into this thing lol.

Re: Speculation Grows That AMD Will Provide the Nintendo NX Processor

MrGuinea

Once again, we still know nothing concrete about the NX, yet people claim everything is a fact and how "they aren't going to buy it until they've seen it"....well duh. I wouldn't buy something either if I didn't see the thing.

Just quit commenting on all these rumor articles that "you're not going to buy it" because if you're here and commenting, obviously you're still interested. Otherwise, you'd ignore all of this and just sit tight until E3 next year when they ACTUALLY show it.

Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Explains Why the Pro Controller Trumps the GamePad in Devil's Third

MrGuinea

The Wii U pro controller is their best controller yet in terms of "regular" controllers. But when the gamepad is actually used the gamepad is awesome. I've played countless consecutive hours of Zombiu while using the gamepad and I can say that my hands/arms never got tired while using it. I think people would like it more if it was used better, rather than just off tv play. Then I can understand not wanting to use it.

Re: Ubisoft's Former Wii U Exclusive ZombiU Confirmed For PS4 & Xbox One Release

MrGuinea

Ubisoft: "ZombiU didn't do as well as we hoped so were not going to create a sequel or add anything to it."
ditches sequel and starts porting the game without the controls that made it good in order to sell more on other consoles

Why make a whole new game that will cost money when you can just try and re-release an old game for a few more dollars? I liked Ubisoft, but it's this kind of stuff that make me hate these large development companies.
Since they're re-releasing the first one, I would say the best we can hope for is a real Zombi2 sequel down the road, but it'd probably be for PS4 or Xbox one anyways since they stopped developing games for the Wii U. Or maybe the NX? But that's an even bigger longshot.

Re: Limbo Looks Set to Finally Arrive on the Wii U eShop

MrGuinea

Played and beat a long time ago after it came on sale for being out for a year. This would have been great when it came out, but it just stinks how many times devs skip Wii U and then come back to it if they "have time". Either release it within a month or two or don't complain about poor sales unlike some other large game companies whom we don't speak of anymore.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Won't Be As Powerful As PlayStation 4

MrGuinea

I'm not going to say anything bad about the NX yet because there is NO INFORMATION KNOWN ABOUT IT!!! People are already saying how it will be worse than the Wii U, how it will be lackluster to the current gen, how there will be no games for it. You guys have no info on the NX so why is everybody hating it already?

P.S. If being able to see 5 beads of sweat on a character means it's a great console, then this generation of gamers, aren't not at all even close to being gamers.

Re: Blast Ball is Actually the Tutorial in Metroid Prime: Federation Force, With an Intriguing Story Promised

MrGuinea

The only thing I wouldn't mind is if this was on wii u. But alas, this was probably a smaller game to get people through till Metroid NX. I'm looking forward to this game like all other metroid games because I love it. If this was just another prime for 3DS then it probably wouldn't have my attention that much. Although the prime trilogy should be complete and a new saga should begin with the next installment. Like metroid (fill in new word here).

Re: Nintendo Is "Exploring" The Idea Of Early Access Games On Its Consoles

MrGuinea

@mjc0961 Well of course it should cost money because you're still buying a game. But if you buy early access you get all the updates and get the actual game for a lot less than the retail value. Should everyone avoid kickstarter games too because of that? They're obviously not getting anything when they fund the project yet they hope the developer will finish the game and that it will be good. So releasing a game for free and providing updates in content till the final release isn't good for the developers. There needs to be a happy medium between, and once again I state that early access isn't for every game. And if you think it's dumb then simply don't join in. Problem solved.

Re: Nintendo Is "Exploring" The Idea Of Early Access Games On Its Consoles

MrGuinea

A lot of people compare early access games to already completed games and give plenty of negative reviews on them. I've seen this already everywhere on Steam. The point of early access games is to give feedback and not say they are crappy. When you do that, then of course the developers are going to stop working on it. Reviews like "there are a lot of bugs that prevent me from playing" don't help, state what the bugs are and how they can fix them. The problem isn't how it's necessarily done, but the people who actually review them. Most of whom who probably think early access games are terrible.

I think it depends on the game. Spatoon worked fine and that was almost like an early access with the demos and adding more content later. But early access Zelda would probably take away a lot of the fun and exploration in a full game.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Highlighted Nintendo's Development Shift Towards NX, and Away from Wii U

MrGuinea

There were a lot of launch games for the Wii U that were just ports which didn't interest a lot of gamers. I on the other hand had lots of games to play at launch since I never was able to play any of these games on other systems or PC. Even today I still have loads of games to play for the Wii U so I'll definitely be enjoying it for years to come. I'm still playing some games for Wii that I never got a chance to play while it was in current gen state.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Tackles Metroid Prime: Federation Force and amiibo Criticism

MrGuinea

@Yorumi well over half of those things were out of their control but sure we can blame them I guess. According to you and I guess everyone else we should just go back to the nes because anything new they come up with you'll never like. So excuse me as I go enjoy some updates to smash bros and mariokart, some new IPs, and some interesting takes on old IPs.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Tackles Metroid Prime: Federation Force and amiibo Criticism

MrGuinea

I honestly think Federation Force will be a fun game to play. I like when they do mix it up a bit which is what Nintendo does. People are flipping out over this E3 because they didn't get what they want. Be patient and trust them is what Reggie is saying. I'm sure they're probably going to have Metroid be a launch title for the NX. Until then, enjoy this little metroid venture. If you don't want to enjoy it, then just shut up. Sure, it was definitely the most lackluster E3 I have seen over the past years I won't deny that at all. But picking apart all the negatives hides all the positives.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Approach to amiibo is Increasingly Frustrating

MrGuinea

They keep coming out with new games that use all these amiibo but nobody has any to use on them. They don't realize that they have to release amiibos starting from wave 1 before they keep making games that use them. When they say how awesome it is to use an amiibo in a game it's like a slap in the face to everyone. Releasing 5 more marth or 10 mario amiibo countrywide doesn't count as "restocking".

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Attempts To Explain Why Zelda Wii U Wasn't At E3 2015

MrGuinea

I agree this event was lackluster. But I'm hoping that next year will be better when they release everything. This whole transition between the Wii U and NX I think is throwing things off for them. On one hand they want to still make grade A games for the Wii U but still make sure a large line up is there for the NX especially if 3rd parties aren't there.

But people have to remember they do multiple directs a year. They probably will have another in a few months down the road that tells more about this Zelda. To them E3 is just a little larger of a direct now. There's obviously something else going on with that Zelda game to not show it now. So everyone keep your pants on and be satisfied with at least knowing the game is in production unlike a new Metroid, FZero, or Animal Crossing which probably isn't going to be for a long time.

Re: Next Metroid Prime Home Console Title "Would Likely Now be on NX"

MrGuinea

Honestly, I'm waiting until E3 next year where Nintendo somehow pulls out all the big guns and unveils everything they have been working on and everybody is just left in awe.

This E3 direct was just simple. A little TOO simple. Only one new large Wii U game released? A bunch of smaller scale games such as Metroid, Zelda, AC, and mario maker? I'm guessing they didn't really have anything else ready to show. They DID get negative feedback from showing StarFox last year when it wasn't ready yet, so why repeat that? The NX isn't near ready, the new club nintendo replacement is not ready, Zelda wii U isn't ready, and probably several others.

It does stink that the Wii U is coming to an end, but I'm ready to see where they go with this. I don't understand why people are so upset about them moving on to better and greater things. We first complain the wii U isn't enough, and now we complain when it's about to be taken away.

Re: Next Metroid Prime Home Console Title "Would Likely Now be on NX"

MrGuinea

And why is this worse for Nintendo owners? First people dislike the wii U, now when they say they are in progress of producing their next console WHICH WILL BE AT THE NORMAL CYCLE OF CONSOLES everyone says that news is terrible.

They don't need to rush this, they don't need to expedite it to "catch up" with Sony and MS, and they don't need to kill the wii U.

You people are being ridiculous.

Re: Next Metroid Prime Home Console Title "Would Likely Now be on NX"

MrGuinea

They said early 2016 they would release info on it meaning it probably won't be till holiday 2017 since they usually release them around that time. Or it'll be at next E3. People have to remember they released the wii U a year early before the other current gens, and 2017 will be it's 5 year anniversary which is a normal cycle for Nintendo consoles.

And especially if they are going to try to make this one better they're going to put in a few years of development. I was ready for dual screen gameplay but the world wasn't apparently.

P.S. I REALLY hope they do not name the next one "Wii NX" or something that has "Wii" in the name. It's time to let that be. That was one of the main confusions with consumers.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Is Slashing Its Way to 3DS

MrGuinea

Eh if this would've been announced at e3 I wouldn't have cared. Nothing really new here and I plan on getting the wii u one still. Although now I will probably not visit this site till end of next week as I don't want something actually big to be found out early...

Re: Splatoon to Feature as Details on Competitors and Format Are Released for the Nintendo World Championships

MrGuinea

They really shouldn't have titled this "Nintendo World Championships". It's not similar at all to the 1990 one. They should have called this something different to represent it better. Eight people picked from only 8 locations in only the entire US, and then 8 people who didn't even have to qualify. I'll probably just check out the news article afterwards.
