Chibi-Robo is one of Nintendo's most adorable characters, and the heroic 10-centimetre-tall robot is making a welcome comeback in Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash on the 3DS. While it might appear like a fairly simple platformer, we found Zip Lash to be fresh, fun, and genuinely charming in our first impressions from E3.
Siliconera recently interviewed the game's Assistant Director, Risa Tabata, along with the series Producer Kensuke Tanabe, to talk about the character's peculiar past and the upcoming 3DS game; it made for quite an entertaining read and we'd recommend that you take a look.
When asked about the possibilities for a Chibi-Robo game on the Wii U, Risa Tabata replied:
Well, one thing we'd be excited about is making Chibi-Robo very, very shiny! Since the system is hi-Definition and all…not just Chibi-Robo, but the environment! Like in Pikmin 3, actually.
It looks like the Chibi-Robo team have certainly given a new home console game some thought. Would you like to see a Chibi-Robo game on the Wii U at some point in the future? In the meantime, are you looking forward to zip lashing with the loveable little robot on the 3DS later this year?

Just put him in Smash and I'll be satisfied.
Bloom.
Yeah, thanks for the "News".
I like R.O.B more as a Robot.
A potential home console Chibi-Robo needs to go back to the original idea and make it an open-house (i.e. open-world) adventure game!
Very, very shiny!!! until picked up and then very, very fingerprinty!!! (Like the N3DSXL) Not that you'd actually pick it up in the game, I suppose, but shiny always screams dust and fingerprint attractor. Hope the amiibo is not prone to fingerprints.
That comment... to me it sound like she totally knows what she is talking about.
Ready to bet they already made an HD model of Chibi Robo just for curiosity or for experimenting ideas; I can already imagining it in all its shininess!
house cleaner, gardener, museum exhibist what's next?,
@Rixor13 ...bellhop?
Chibi Robo Amiibo Finder: only for Wii U!
From now on, for every 3DS release, expects a Wii U one to follow and vice versa. Nintendo didn't add a second screen to their home console for nothing, it's to make both system compatible.
The environment in Pikmin 3 was absolutely stunning. I spent at least an hour just looking around before actually playing. I have yet to play the gamecube version of chibirobo, but if this was a Wii U release I would buy it in a heartbeat.
This is news?
Also Chibi Robo is my favorite Nintendo character. Not necessarily franchise since as far as american releases, I only really liked the first one, but park patrol wasn't bad.I would love an iteration on WiiU. And I would adore him as a smash character. He already has my vote.
when i see Chibi-Robo in HD:
Getting Zip Lash for sure. All the hands on and gameplay videos I've watched all seem to point to a fun game that makes good use of the character. That said, I want a full console sequel to the oddball but incredibly charming original GameCube game. The Wii U would be the perfect home for a proper sequel to the original Chibi Robo. I'd buy it day one.
Ugh, would kill for a true console sequel to the GCN game; that was such a great experience
@Ichiban If you manage to collect three amiibo you 100% the game?
@DEAD You've won the comment thread for today.
Definitely!
In fact I just bought a like new copy of Chibi Robo Plug In Adventure (GameCube) the other day. As well as a new copy of Park Patrol on DS
@DarthNocturnal I would play that game in a second.
I'd settle for an HD remake of the original game or even a localised version of the New Play Control release that was Japan-only for whatever reason.
I'd love to see a game with environments like those in Pikmin 3 and the Chibi-Robo character as the main protagonist.
Whether it was 3D or 2.5D, I think that would be great.
SO MUCH POTENTIAL for a pikmin/chibi robo crossover. i never played a chibi robo game before but the concept is so amazing
@ManateeBlubber thank you
I wonder if that R.O.B. Amiibo will be compatible with this game.
Don't tease me! Zip Lash looks very awesome, but a return to the original Chibi-Robo formula would be the best!
It sucks because the people who created the first house explorer chibi robo disbanded a while back...
That means Chibi-Robo will be shiny, and the Wii U game will undoubtedly be better than the 3DS games.
There should be a story that makes sure you never have to repeat levels or backtrack through the house, like the other ones.
A nice new console title mixing gameplay from this and the original would have good potential for sure. I've always thought the Chibi games had a lot of unexplored design directions. Or how about a crossover? Chibi Robo Pikmin. Nah, maybe that's too much.
