Re: Nintendo Financial Results Deliver Profits but Predict Severe Drops in Expected Wii U and 3DS Sales

MrGuinea

Expecting price drops for the Wii U later this year right before the holidays will probably shift a lot of units right before the NX release as well.

I'm not complaining at all because I hope they are working on a bunch of release titles for the NX. So if next fall and winter have no games, I'll be fine with it. I have a bunch to catch up on anyways cough Xenoblade cough

Re: Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing Franchises Are Heading to Smart Devices

MrGuinea

Not sure how I feel about AC moving to smartphones...this probably means all items are now ACTUAL money rather than bells. Or maybe use can choose to use real money in the stalk market. Whatever it is, I just hope it doesn't ruin the AC franchise, because that is still one of my favorites.

And I hope to expect a full game for the NX but I doubt that is happening since it is moving to smartphones.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Planning A Series Of Wii U Remasters For NX

MrGuinea

They are most likely porting games over that they feel they would still provide updates/DLC for. So it would make sense to do Splatoon, MM, or smash as a remastered version.

The only problem with this is I really hope they have at least 2 or 3 new games (maybe with 1 new IP) releasing for the NX. Otherwise, it'll be the Wii U launch all over again.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Wants Us to Download More and Move On From Discs - Will It Work?

MrGuinea

In order for this to happen several things need to change:
1) The storage on the hardware has to be great enough for these games. Requiring an additional harddrive should not have to happen.
2) Digital copies of games must come with the same perks as ordering the physical copy.
3) Finally, an account system must be in place so I don't lose all of my games that I have bought, as well as be able to transfer from system to system.
4) Offer competitive discounts on games. Amazon offering 20% off on games will always draw me more than the regular price of an online code. There just needs to be more discounts in my opinion.

Until all of these things happen, I won't be on board for a long time.

Re: Nintendo Remains Bullish Around the 3DS and Its Future Prospects

MrGuinea

Well I guess this kind of throws the hybrid NX rumor out the window. I'm somewhat relieved, yet worried a little as I've mentioned in an earlier comment, and that's because of the dual buying of SSB and what is now seen with hyrule warriors. Charging people twice for the same DLC is completely unreasonable.

Re: The November NPD Results are in, Nintendo Exclusives Fail to Crack the Top Ten

MrGuinea

Wow ok, let's think about this people. Seeing how the PS4 alone has sold 3 times as many Wii Us, even if everyone that owned a Wii U bought a game, and everyone who had a PS4 bought Fallout, it would still be outnumbered 3 to 1. And not to also mention that these games are also on PC as well, so adding up Xbox, PS, and PC, that's about 5 to 1 at the very least. Yes, these games were for very niche crowds and these games aren't going to move consoles, but to solely blame Nintendo for not topping the charts makes you look silly. All of those chart topping games have been released on multiple platforms, unlike Nintendo exclusives. Just think a little before you go off and make dumb comments on things that you don't understand.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Legends Will Allow You to Find and Customise Your Own Fairies

MrGuinea

@Yorumi I agree. I haven't got the game yet, but this game is deserving for a console not a 3DS. I'm guessing they'll make people pay for additional DLC for both copies as well just like they did for SSB. It's a giant cash grab again. I'm actually beginning to hope that the NX is going to be a hybrid console, just so stuff like this can't happen anymore. The 3DS has gotten so much more love over the past few years than the Wii U, it's no wonder why the Wii U is struggling so bad.

Re: Video: This is the Animal Crossing Wii U Game We'd Hoped For

MrGuinea

For one, everything in this video seemed rather dull upgrades to AC, aside from the graphics and camera.

Here's my improvements:

  • For the toolbox, it seems like a good idea, until you realize you have to use twice as many clicks to get to your shovel, and whenever you pick up your shovel you'll have to put it back in the toolbox. I suggest just making a special panel on the side just for tool items, so you always have that space. This would be the "toolbox".
  • Customizing the hot air balloons is customizing the loading screen. I'd rather skip on that whole thing, and throw in this idea:
  • OPEN WORLD concept. You move in to a settlement and build up a village from scratch. You'll have to make your town prosper by building houses, shops, a farm, etc. Once you reach a certain point, you'll be able to head outside your town in a place where other players can be seen in real time. There will be wide open fields for bug catching, giant waterfalls with fish, and you can find other settlements on the overworld map to visit as well. Not to mention different transportation as you get more prosperous (bicycle, car, gokart, etc). This is why I pass on the hot air balloon.
  • As for the inventory screen on the gamepad, this isn't new. The 3DS had it only it defaulted to the map.

I liked working towards improving your town and getting rich on AC, but if you can just do whatever you want, it really takes away the whole point of it. Sure there can be a creative mode, but I like my good old fashioned AC. So these are my improvements on for the NX version.

Re: Rumour: NX Set for 2016 Release With Nintendo Targeting 20 Million Shipped Units

MrGuinea

I feel like everyone who just bought one of the Wii U bundles this past weekend is going to be very disappointed next year when they find out a new system is out, and therefore, Nintendo probably won't get those people to buy another for another few years at least. 2016 seems like it would be too early for them, but then again, 2017 seems like it would be too far for them.

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U)

MrGuinea

Still finishing up XC, but will not pass this up even if it takes me another 5 years to complete this game (I preordered the special edition guide to go with the special edition to help bring that time down).

Re: Poor Odds of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Coming to Wii U as Nicalis Says It's "Not Much More Powerful Than a PS Vita"

MrGuinea

In other words, what he meant was,

"We actually don't know how to use the Wii U's hardware and don't feel like learning it. It should conform to our standards. So it'll be tough to port our tiny game to the Wii U."

Second tweet, "Turns out the Wii U isn't powerful enough to fix our coding mistakes and optimize our code. We don't feel like changing it, soooo the vita is definitely better than the Wii U.

Won't support this developer if they are that lazy and won't take the time and money to port it properly.

Re: You Can't Alter The Chest Size Of Female Characters In The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X

MrGuinea

At first I was thinking against this, but now I'm thinking that it's just a part of the body like the nose or face. We have to look beyond this little issue and look at the real problem: breasts are over sexualized in the west. If you are allowed to modify a face of an avatar, what's wrong with modifying other parts of the body to match what a person actually looks like? The only reason it got removed is because the west sexualizes everything. It's the fact that 95% of women portrayed in video games have to have unrealistic bust sizes. Along with minimal clothing, unlike men who usually always wear more clothes than women in video games. There's a lot of social problems with this issue, which no one is bringing up.

Re: Take a Look at Nintendo's Game Awards 2015 Nominees

MrGuinea

I think this whole GOTY has been crap in recent years. It just seems like they declare the nominees of whatever the most popular games are at the time or whatever is most "hardcore". I'm glad smm is making the list, but I'm guessing splatoon didn't make the list because it wasn't a "hardcore" enough shooter for the judges.

Re: Take a Look at Nintendo's Game Awards 2015 Nominees

MrGuinea

@Trikeboy sadly, probably the bug filled Fallout 4 will win since it is currently getting the most media attention with just being released and all. While it does look like a cool game, I disagree that it should be nominated for GOTY. There are plenty of other games that deserve it than one that is deemed "cool".

Re: Parent Trap: Oft-Forgotten Wii U Features That Matter To Families

MrGuinea

Sadly, off-screen play is the Wii U's top feature. So many features were left unused. We saw some potential of the uses with NintendoLand, Pikmin 3, and some party games, but sadly that was it. I think third party and indie developers used the features more than Nintendo even. It was like Nintendo put in all these features before they even knew how to use them. We didn't get any use out of the NFC until 2 years after the release, TVii was cancelled, the 2 gamepad support never happened, video/voice chat is not allowed in all the games they make (so why put it in?!), the camera was never used besides for making an avatar picture, and off-screen Wii play wasn't even enabled till over a year after the release. We just kept getting games that either didn't need the features or just plain didn't use them. Their line up should've consisted of games that could use them (i.e. Battalion Wars, the TV would be third person, and the gamepad could be top down RTS), but instead we got another super mario bros. that was exactly the same as the Wii version, a re-hash of Wii Sports that they thought would make people buy it again at a more expensive price, and many other games that you could just play with an old wii remote. To me Nintendo missed a big opportunity with the Wii U, and that was why it didn't sell. The HD graphics are awesome (see Pikmin 3), the free online is nice (Splatoon), and the off-screen play are the only good features.

I know this holiday season there are a bunch of bundles that make it a worthwhile purchase (Wii U + 2 games for less than $280), and I'm sure families don't look into the details as much as any of us gamers do, so I'm sure they will still have a good time with it with all the party games, mario games, and the amiibo festival coming out this week. If families were going to buy one console, I would suggest the Wii U. The other consoles don't have nearly as many family oriented games as Nintendo does. Local multiplayer is where it is at for families. Not playing Call of Duty in separate rooms online.

Re: The Next Nintendo Direct is on 12th November

MrGuinea

I'm guessing they'll release information on those secret games they have ready for the holiday season! I'm definitely excited! I hope they don't go into a lot of detail on already announced games such as AC amiibo festival and starfox. I'm sure they'll cover mobile as well for a little bit of it, possibly announcing another mobile game in the works.

Re: Michael Pachter Thinks Miitomo Will Have Trouble Tempting People Away From Facebook

MrGuinea

So many people overreacting. smh. This was never meant to replace facebook, nor be the next form of social media. Anyone who still thinks this This app was probably the proof of concept for their mobile front. They aren't going to go out and make a mario or zelda game to kill their own hardware sales. This app is basically to test the waters, and make a name for themselves. Once other people who don't actively follow Nintendo news sees they are making mobile games, then Nintendo will send out other apps.

And everyone has been complaining about too many mario games, and not enough new IPs, yet those same people want another mario game on a smartphone. A bunch of hypocrites if you ask me.

@Hinaru77 My thoughts exactly.

Re: Details Emerge on How Nintendo Accounts Will Work

MrGuinea

@Kirk That's exactly what I was saying. You want more than what is even standard, which is pretty much everybody in general. As a Nintendo fan I've always wanted to just be caught up to everyone so I CAN want more than what is standard. Nintendo obviously can't jump from the first gameboy to a 3DS in one cycle. Heck, I'm just happy Nintendo is actually doing something like this because I thought it would be at least 5 more years down the road before we heard anything like this.

Re: Details Emerge on How Nintendo Accounts Will Work

MrGuinea

@Kirk Even with all this great news people still complain. First they complain about Nintendo not offering the same features as other companies. Now that Nintendo has announced everything we've wanted them to have, people are complaining that they should have more features than the other companies.

Yes, it should have been something that they had a long time ago. Am I complaining? No, because now we actually have will have it. They've been doing more now in the past few years than they have throughout the whole Wii cycle and early Wii U cycle. They fell behind in the past decade and now they need to catch up.
