Update:
Koei Tecmo has now taken the original video offline, but many mirrors have already been uploaded, one of which is included in this article.
Original Article:
Well, it seems someone at Koei Tecmo needs to re-take YouTube Management 101, as a video has been posted unlisted - but available - that reveals Hyrule Warriors for the 3DS as an E3 announcement.
In a surprising turn of events it looks incredibly similar to the Wii U iteration, but with clearer character outlines and cut down world detail. In addition, Tetra and the King of Red Lions will be new playable characters, and will be transferable to the Wii U version. It's being branded as 'All Stars' - at least in Japan - which suggests that it'll include previous DLC characters in the core game, with the box art on display at the end of the trailer reinforcing that prospect. It appears to have the same main campaign as on Wii U.
Are you pumped to see this coming to the 3DS? Let us know.
Thanks to all that sent this in.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
What's with everyone revealing what should have been saved for E3?!!!
WWWWWWWHHHHHHAAAAAAATTTTTT!
Can't we get Dragon Quest Heroes on 3DS instead.
Groose or no purchase.
What's the point of buying the Wiiu version?
I did not see this coming.
Sweeeeeet! Day 1 buy, just because. But boo to spoilers....
Nintendo will just shrug off the leak and will go on with the Digital Event.
Hopefully we can transfer dlc characters from Wii U version to 3DS. I'm up to buy the game again but maybe not the dlc.
Well with leaks and early reveals like this, there's no need for me to bother with next week.
Nice!
Hoping for some mutliplayer or cross file stuff between the two. I'm guessing a N3DS exclusive.
I still need to play the Wii U version!
On my 'must play' list
@TwilightAngel I've been guessing that this game will focus more on handheld Zelda games. After all, Phantom Hourglass does contain Tetra and the King of Red Lions.
Great news for the WiiU-less such as me!
@TwilightAngel The Wii U version will probably have better performance when dealing with larger groups of enemies. Performance issues have sorta always been a problem with Warriors games, and this version is running on less powerful hardware. I imagine it'll be optimized for the New 3DS.
Anyways, heck yes! I've wanted WW characters in there from the beginning. I've yet to grab Hyrule Warriors, but I'll seriously consider this version if it does comes with the DLC characters built in. Of course, I hope people with the Wii U version get the chance to grab these characters without needing access to the 3DS version.
I just wish the two new characters would be available as dlc on the wii u version. I really don't want to buy the game again or play through the story/adventure maps again on the 3ds...
At least it wasn't something of much significance that got leaked. I'll be annoyed if this happens with any major reveals.
Tetra and the King better be DLC on the Wii U version.
If i have to buy the game again just for the Windwaker characters im gonna be disappointed
23comments in 10 mins lol. This is good news for both the franchise and the 3ds. This system is far from done!
I was planning on purchasing Hyrule Warriors next week for my Wii U. Now I have to sit down and decide which platform to get this game on.
In other news. developers don't care about E3 anymore.
@TwilightAngel Strange question considering the Wii U version has been out 9 months and a lot of people have put dozens or even hundreds of hours into it.
Tetra and the King better be DLC on the Wii U version.
Great fit for the system I think...if it really is powerful enough.
Of all the console to 3DS ports I could dream up, this is something I adamantly want to own, and something I never would have begun to wish for. I'm pretty amazed by this.
@ericwithcheese2 @VeeFlamesNL What other leaks?!
loved it on Wii U and I'm sure I'll love it on 3DS too
I would actually be up for this. I haven't been able to get the Wii U version anyways so if this is true I can just buy the 3DS version of the game.
I hope Wii U owners get a discount since it's mostly the same game!
@bezerker99
The Wii U version has the excellent multiplayer option where one person gets the gamepad and the other the TV, because the game is easy for anyone to pick up and play i've found i've been able to get a lot of use out of it despite not usually playing multiplayer games. I also have sincere doubts that a 3DS version could have all the content the Wii U version had considering the astonishing amount of content in that game.
At least it's not a major reveal leaked. Just a 3DS version of a pre-existing game.
I don't know - I just read this as an insult to Wii U, saying 1 of it's best games can run on that 4 year old 3DS hardware.
And if 3DS can get HW why can't Wii U get Kid Icarus or Luigi's Mansion 2?
No fair.
New Zelda for non Wii U owners? Nice. Another game to preorder (especially if there is a limited edition involved).
Sweet but please be for regular 3ds XL owners for now
That is surprising.Hopefully not too long is spent showing it off in the Digital Event now that we know about it,a short trailer will do.I would put my money on it being New 3DS only though.
Well, that was... unexpected. Maybe this was what Reggie was refering to when he said the 'games-we-didn't-know-we-wanted' thing.
Re-releases and rehashes....but it's only a bad thing when Sony does it!!
I still want the Wii U version, but I also want the Wind Waker characters... I hope they'll announce them as DLC for the people who don't buy both versions.
@Tsurii I guess what I'm saying is that why are the leaks and reveals coming when E3 is right around the corner? Accidents happen, anyway. XD
@EverythingAmiibo I didn't directly say 'leaks,' though. Fallout 4... information about Devil's Third and FE: If.... and now this. E3 better not feel empty by the time it comes around!
@A01 Kid Icarus and Ironfall had hundreds of characters on screen. I don't see why this wouldn't.
@SuperWiiU - Or a localisation of the other 3DS DQ titles. It annoys me greatly that out of the last eight DQ titles to be released in Japan, we're only getting one localised, and it's the only one that isn't available on the 3DS... -.-
No thanks on a 3ds version. But I would like the content for the Wii U. Also, this sucks. First Devils Third and now this get shown off less than a week from e3.
the graphics kinda look like from smash for 3ds but it does look cool.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
I want it.
Didn't see that coming. It's a nice surprise.
Tetra and King of Red Lions Amiibo?
@bezerker99
Same. Now I'll wait for the review of the 3DS version then decide which one to get.
@outburst Yep!
@VeeFlamesNL I'm just making sure I haven't missed any news, leaked or not
@Kevlar44 samurai Warrior Chronicles for the 3ds had a lot of content and a lot of DLC. I think that Hyrule Warriors will be able to handle the DLC. Personally, I hope that they include all of the DLC on the 3DS cart, as it has already been made for a while (something like the GoTY editions on other consoles).
Now if they could introduce Zelda amiibos. I'd totally be down if I could get amiibos of Ruto, Tetra, Fi, and others!
As much as I like Hyrule Warriors on Wii U, I don't know if I want to get this version.
I skipped on the Wii U version....will most likely do the same for the 3DS version.
Meh.
As boring as the first one was, this might perhaps be the same case.
@TwilightAngel
HD baby! Big screen! More horsepower for more characters (since this game is one of the few that actually depend on a great number of enemies on screen at once)... Amiibo support regardless (normal 3DS owners will need to upgrade or buy adapter), and that's just a few reasons off the top of my head
I personally think E3 is still going to be fantastic, as this wouldn't take all that much effort (or less compared to a 100% new game) so I'm still super hyped for E3
somebody will lose its job (and head) at nintendo
omg. I never took the time to enjoy the version on wii u. maybe this is my chance since I'm not home most of the time. I just dream of an cross platform stat where I don't have to make everything in double. like. to sync my progress if I just wanna continue in HD. can't be THAT hard.
It looks surprisingly similar to the Wii U game because the Wii U game basically always looked more like a last-gen game graphically anyway.
It's not my cup of tea but I'm sure fans will be happy about this.
I'll definitely get this, but I really hope other Zelda characters will be added as DLC, like Groose or Nabooru. On that note, I hope owners of the Wii U version can transfer the DLC to the 3DS version.
Someone's going to be fired.
Okay, so if this is indeed a leak, why didn't they make the video private?
@minitaurgamer, *Koei Tecmo
(heavy breathing)
@Tsurii We can't even deduce same campaign, sure there may be similarities like how the Wii U's Hyrule Field is confirmed but so was Green Hill Zone in all versions of Sonic Generations (the only overlap between 3DS and home console versions)..
@ThomasBW84
It's that TIME again like last year.
The Wii U game wasn't good but it's definitely impressive if they're able to have it run solidly on the 3DS. I would have thought it would be a n3DS exclusive, surely.
@Jason723 Yup, I've noticed they are spreading the news throughout the week instead of holding off until e3. I guess I'm ok with that too. I just wish I knew that was the plan because I don't like seeing it as a spoiler but as something to look forward to
Nice! Can't wait to try this out.
Looks like this was one of the "surprises" that Reggie mentioned would hit the 3DS.
Whoop! Day one for me!! Never got the Wii U version, but will certainly give it a whirl on the 3DS!
I'm completely burned out on the Wii U game, I don't think I could stomach even a second with this. But, its still neat that this exists.
@outburst I give you a ZING! for that
Did not expect this. Is... good... I guess?
@MrWalkieTalkie
I wholeheartedly second that.
....and the point of this is?
@A01 Ironfall was an excellent demonstration of the hardware capabilities. For a port, this is surprisingly slick and looks very similar to the console version. Especially compared to the lazy port that was DQ8. A PS2 game! This is an early build so we might see improvements from now.
@omalleycat215
Cool, good to know. I believe the game is just shy of 9 gb with all the DLC content included so it seems pretty extreme to me, although i'm sure they'll find ways to shrink the size of the game via textures and whatnot given the 3DS being less powerful. It's going to be interesting to see.
I want this! Never got the WiiU version because the price was never right, but I expect the 3DS will be a buy for me.
@zool
...to play it?
Now that's my kind of red lions!
@JaxonH So it's just a regular dynasty warrriors game with Zelda plastered all over the place? Alright now i know why it sold pretty well and it's praised by a lot of people.
Thrilled. Stoked. Must buy. Don't own a Wii U as of yet (very expensive summer coming) but this was a game on my Wii U wishlist.
Could be interesting. I'll want for more details before jumping in though.
Can somebody link me to the actual video on Youtube? The one Tecmo Koei supposedly uploaded by accident? Or has it been taken down?
Oh, nevermind. Looks like this is the video. Nintendo Life put "subscribe to Nintendo Life on Youtube" under the video for some unknown reason, considering this isn't their video. I thought they just reposted it on their channel.
@HollywoodHogan Shh don't bring logic here
@TwilightAngel
Hear a lot of ppl say "just" a DW game, as if it's nothing special. Oh it most definitely has DW styled gameplay, but it uses Zelda attacks and gameplay mixed in. Characters mixed in, story mixed in. I always hated DW games, but I LOVED Hyrule Warriors. If all DW games were this good Id be a fan of the series.
@zool
...To sell more copies of the game...
Hyrule Warriors sold 1 million copies on the Wii U's miniscule install base. Imagine the game's sales on the 3DS...3 million...? Maybe 4 million, if marketed right...?
Yessssssss! With such news, now I know I have to buy Hyrule Warriors - both versions, in fact. And cross-compatibility? YES!
@Tsurii Yeah, to me it's just a wait and see situation. The cutscenes could've been taken directly from the Wii U version given the 3DS not having great visuals.
This doesn't really shock me too much. What really shocks me is THAT THERE'S A GUN IN A ZELDA GAME!
Goose or riot!!!!!
Oh oh!!!! Looks very interesting, I loved the first Hyrule warriors so I won't skip this one
Even more interesting, seems like "Hyrule Warriors All Star" will be the equivalent of "Dinasty Warriors Chronicle"; the video clearly show the ability to switch between the generals that are on the battlefield, I wonder if there will be other Chronicle's features added in.
Cool! Though I'll have to wait & see if there's going to be more than just two new characters to determine whether I buy this or not. I have Hyrule Warriors on Wii U already with all the DLC bought... Tetra & the King of Red Lions being playable does REALLY tempt me though...Having the new characters transferable to the Wii U version really works for me
I was all excited for a second thinking this was a new Wind Waker sequel, but I'll pass on another Hyrule Warriors. The Wii U game got very stressful very quickly for me. Too much "run here and do this... and this too... and this at the same time!" I found myself cursing at the TV and not having fun with it a lot.
I was a bit disappointed in no inclusion of Wind Waker in the Wii U version (Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game) so this is tempting, plus I have a hard time already going back and trying to play the game again so it seems perfect for the portable.
@DarthNocturnal "Well now... a fighting boat... didn't see that coming"
That made me laugh.
Intriguing indeed
@HollywoodHogan True. People love these SD ports. HD ports are for losers because they look better and they are chepear than the originals...
So he's not a King of Red Lions anymore he's a Kind of Red Lions.
For anyone that owns Wii U version this is pointless.
All right, looks like I'm off the site until E3. Bye folks!
@A01 - Actually due to the circle pad and a few other details, that's certainly a N3DS.
@HollywoodHogan Who said I was excited for this, I guess the wii u can't have exclusives anymore
Will Tetra and the King of Red Lions be DLC for the Wii U version? Or do you absolutely HAVE to get the 3DS version, because right now, it's looking like the latter. I don't think I'll be getting this one...
I really don't care about this game at the moment
I have it for Wii U, so I'm not really interested.
The video is down? Has anybody reuploaded it? Woke up too late to see it...
@westman98 so I guess the same could apply to the new Kirby and the new Yoshi Wii u games, which would be more suited to the 3ds.
here s the video since it was taken down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuS9B4oKxA4
This could tempt me into a New 3DS. It is by far my most played game on the Wii U and I can see definite portable possibilities for it as well. Too bad it probably won't be released before my flight to Taiwan.
Awesome! But it's kinda ruining some e3 announcements isn't it?
@Kevlar44 Xenoblade Chronicles 3D was able to squeeze the massive XC onto the 3DS (although on the New, more powerful hardware). The file size came out to about 6 GB, I believe. Porting trickery should squeeze Hyrule Warroirs to a reasonable size. High capacity carts are nothing new as well, so HW3D might come on a high capacity cart. All guessing right now, so I'll wait and see.
I was not expecting that, would have to preferred seeing it the first time at e3 though
@GunplaGamer
Thanks for the link!
There's leaking all over the place. This boats gonna sink before we've even set sail.
Pass. I already have the Wii U version. I'm all Zelda'd out for the moment anyway.
Shame about the leak, I prefer all my surprises nicely bundled.
Although of course I don't care at all about Hyrule Warriors, so doesnt matter too much
That was certainly unexpected. Probably New 3DS exclusive? (The video is listed as private now apparently so I didn't get to see it)
THANK THE HEAVENS I FINALLY GET MY WW HYRULE WARRIORS SQUEE need air need a drink omgomgomgomg!!
Hyrule Warriors is my GOTY 2014 after all! OMG Can't wait to use WW Ganondorf!
Even if it's unlisted, someone has to have shared the link. So I'm thinking it was less "mistake" and more outright "leak".
@Nashew No its also for 3DS
I love how you can transfer the new characters from 3DS to Wii U to have them on both versions.
Another Wii U exclusive jumps ship!
Here's what's happening with Nintendo fans. Any 3rd party exclusive jumps ship and the fans/fanboys are all: "Boo! 3rd parties are all evil! I'll never support another one!!"
But if it's a Nintendo game jumping ship from exclusivity it's all "hooray! I get to rebuy the same game again! All I care about is that Mario, Link, or Pokemon are on the cover and that the publisher is Nintendo, who never ever do things like third parties because I don't pay attention!"
Oh ha.
Strange timing as I've been trying to decide if I want to download Hyrule Warriors on Wii u or Splatoon all morning. Leaning towards Splatoon at the moment as I prefer the Dynasty Warrior games on a handheld platform for quick play sessions.
Calling it now: Tetra in smash (finally) + more Zelda amiibo for HW and Zelda next year.
I am so happy right now.
I guess the gameplay is quite suited to handheld play but I'd rather an all new game, or at least new maps and story challenges. I'll bet Tetra and King of Red Lions become DLC on the Wii U version.
@Quorthon LOL you call this jumping ship? Are you butthurt or something?
Why is it a bad thing that we get a 3DS version + more content on Wii U?
Your statement is pure BS.
@Baker1000 If I read the text in the trailer correctly you need the game on 3DS to unlock those characters on Wii U. Maybe they'll add a DLC option for people who only want new content for the Wii U version though.
This must have been on if those "things you never thought to ask for" Reggie mentioned!
I enjoyed the WiiU version much more than I thought I would so this has my attention, especially with WindWaker FINALLY in the mix! But I'm unsure it's that suited to playing on the commute, hopefully it'll be reworked so it's not just the same game with less enemies on screen.
Well... That's a surprise...
Brilliant news! I have a Hyrule Warriors addiction, hope progress can transfer between games, and there arent any lag / slowdown issues.
@outburst
Lol nice!
I think what happened was, they were just planning ahead of time, but forgot to set it off of public once they published it.
So long as it is playable on all 3DS models it will be a guaranteed purchase for me. If its N3DS only then I will have to skip.
@Quorthon it's still Nintendo exclusive, it's not jumping ship at all it's getting a portable version and extra content for both. If anything that's stating firmly on board.
Online multi-player for both versions + cross platform online multi-player... I will be happy
@AyeHaley @Ogbert
Just pointing out the hypocrisy. When any other game leaves the Wii U exclusive status, Nintendo fans get all butthurt and the adversarial relationship with 3rd parties predictably rears it's ugly head--why, you can head to the main page here right now to see it happening in the rumored ZombiU move.
But when Nintendo devalues their own hardware by removing exclusives--be it Smash Bros or Hyrule Warriors--to put it on better selling hardware, you guys are all for it. Because Nintendo.
At the end of the day, the Wii U has, yet again, one fewer title to really make it worth the purchase. This also adds to the idea that Nintendo doesn't have much else looming on the horizon for these systems, so they're starting to port more games to fill the ever-widening gaps in the release schedule.
@RatKing64 I would bet money on a NN3DS only game right here.. I don't think the old model can handle it. Might be wrong though...
So what, is Tetra also gonna be in the Wii U version!? I don't want to buy a 3DS and another copy of the game just for that!
Oh heck yes. I was just trying to think of what would make me lose it as an E3 reveal, and this one didn't even occur to me. Very, very excited.
@Quorthon "Because Nintendo" No, because we like it.
And you are wrong if you think the Wii U version suddenly got inferior. If the choice is 3DS or Wii U, the Wii U offers the HD experience with more characters on screen etc.
Just like Smash, which version do you think people prefer? Right, the Wii U one.
Its silly to be upset about a game on your console coming to other hardware from the same manufacturer.
There are plenty of 3DS owners who will buy the game and think to themselves: hey..wait...maybe I should get a Wii U to play these games that I clearly love and play them on the big screen when I'm at home.
WOW did not expect that! I'm defentily gonna buy this assuming it's coming for normal 3DS and if it is it WOW. Impressive as heck I mean the character models look almost the same as the Wii U version! I do wanna turn off the outlines tho like in Smash 4.
@Quorthon
Nintendo isn't developing this game. Koei Tecmo is. They want the game to sell more, particularly in Japan.
Also, a Wii U port on 3DS =/= Wii U and 3DS lack future releases.
At 0:28 it shows the characters being swapped, but I thought I heard somewhere that you couldn't change who you're playing as in mid-battle on the wii u version.
@AyeHaley Yeah that's what I mean. It's pointless being all like "damn I'd love to play as those two characters, guess I'll buy it on 3DS just for that!" ...when chances are they'll give us them anyway at some point.
@Kirk
Mine neither but the hack and slash style brought me back to the golden axe arcade days... Definitely didn't regret my purchase
Wonder how much content this version will have compared to the wii u version.
@Gaminguy010 C'mon, it's not like Zelda always was a E for Everyone franchise.
It's good for those who don't own a Wii U but I won't be buying it again. Hopefully Tetra and The King will be downloadable without having to purchase the 3DS version too.
Its a fun game so to those who don't own a wiiu I recommend it. (as long as the frame rate is good)
@The_Ninja Yeah I shouldn't freak out, but like the train in Spirit Tracks something just doesn't feel right like 'This doesn't belong here' kinda thing.
I don't have a Wii U so I'll be picking this up for my 3DS.
@arrmixer THIS brings me back to the hack n' slash days of Golden Axe:

I wish they still made games like this—with the amazing, bold and vibrant, gorgeous artistry too but just in 3D
I'd rather get an "Ultimate" version for the Wii U that included the DLC than a 3DS downgrade with all the DLC. I'm not really interested in getting this for the 3DS (especially since I still haven't gotten the Wii U version), but that doesn't mean I wouldn't become interested later on, especially for that Wind Waker DLC.
Aside from that, I'll be surprised if this runs well on the 3DS. The Wii U can barely handle 2 players at once, and it's obviously much, much more powerful than the 3DS. I expect there will be plenty of lag and popping on the comparatively weak handheld, but maybe it'll surprise me. I guess if they make it a New 3DS exclusive it could run better.
@ThomasBW84
"In addition, Tetra and the Kind of Red Lions will be new playable characters,"
I think you made a typo bud
Finally! The chance to play this game wherever I go!
@rjejr Agreed. What a load of crap. Hyrule warriors was one of the Wii U's big selling points! This reminds me of the Smash 4 situation, where everyone I knew who had a 3ds only and not a Wii U, simply settled for the 3ds version instead of buying a Wii U. Sometimes I think Nintendo is hurting Wii U sales on purpose. You could call me biased though, I'm not a big handheld fan
Hooray, another chance to milk fans with more DLC!
@NinjaWaddleDee At least they had the sense to release the Wii U version first, unlike Smash Bros. At any rate, I'll still be getting this on Wii U.
Is it the same game? If it is then I don't see the point of bringing it to 3ds.
This sucks. I don't care about the game, I'm just mad at the leak. Save something for E3 damnit. At this point I'm expecting crap all from Nintendo, probably going to have the weakest E3 and Microsoft the best one.
didn't care for it on wii u, won't get it on 3ds
That's so damn stupid whyyyyyyy? They're just making Wii U owners feel more like crap for having one. This is something I hate about Nintendo, no concept of exclusivity and doesn't think how exclusives could help expand the user base for their console.
I'M SO EXCITED TO FINALLY BE ABLE TO PLAY THIS GAME! THANK YOU!!
I skipped the Wii U version, but to have something like this on 3DS...well I'll keep my eyes on it.
@crazycrazydave True that. This doesn't really make me that mad because I'm not really a Zelda fan, and yeah you've got a point. But that Smash 4 situation was hilariously bad. They could have sold so many Wii U consoles.
@HollywoodHogan no, it's a bad thing when Koei Tecmo does it as well.
So I see The King of Hyrule will be a playable character.... ROBIN WILLIAMS CONFIRMED!
Really hope that this isnt something Nintendo are intending to fill the 3ds' bare release schedule between now and Christmas. In other words I hope they didn't class this as 'a big' announcement, and that they can do much better than this at E3.
@Quorthon hardly devaluing it, especially as it's introducing new content to both versions.
People get upset when games sold as exclusive to any of the big three and then jump ship. People were upset about Rise of the Tomb Raider skipping Sony platforms until it was revealed it was just a timed exclusive. And did you see the fuss over Bayonetta leaving both Sony and MS system for Nintendo exclusivity? It's not Nintendo fan exclusive. It's not even video game exclusive. And most if the time they're more annoyed that they spent money on what was meant to be the only way to get something to then have it revealed they could have got it on the thing they already had. That's bound to annoy people.
But either way and whatever their reason for acting that way, you posting stuff like that doesn't help. You're complaining about hypocrisy and fanboyism but fuelling the fire at the same time. So some people get uppity, who cares? Just leave them to cool down. Everyone knows giving them attention makes it worse. And on that note, I'm off. Enjoy the rest of your day
Hey, at least it's a secret to everybody, right?
Awesome! Regarding performance, I'm not so sure, but they have Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 for 3DS after all, so they probably used the same engine here. But darn, this is too early! They should have the SWC3 release first before announcing this (I know this is a leak, but regardless, E3 is still earlier than SWC3 release in the west), now many people might opt to skip SWC3 for Hyrule Warriors. I know I'll get HW for sure, so now I'm a bit in a dilemma if I want to get SWC3 or not. :/
Aww, I wanted Mushroom Kingdom Warriors! Oh well, this'll do too.
Hell yea!
Thanks alot. It's not like some of us don't want to see leaks until it's actually E3 or anything.
@Quorthon As you can see from this comment section some Wii U fans are in fact displeased with this. And I complained vigorously about the Smash Bros 3DS coming out before the Wii U version.
Nintendo doesn't get off the hook because they're Nintendo.
I hope the new content beomes DLC for the Wii U version. After putting up with playing MH4U on the 3DS instead of a tv and gamepad just because how awesome the new content is I am not buying another game that would be better on a console then a portable.
As much as I like them as characters, Tetra and Daphnes look so out of place with their unaltered designs.
@AyeHaley I'd just ignore him. Anyone on the ZombiU article that could be considered "butthurt" has not made a comment on this article showing that they are "all for" Hyrule Warriors on the 3DS. In fact, there seemed to be more positive comments towards the game possibly going multiplatform on that article than negative comments towards Ubisoft. The main worry of people seemed to be that there would be a sequel to ZombiU that wouldn't come to the Wii U.
Reckon this is to make up for the delay to Zelda Wii U. I was honestly expecting more new DLC but porting assumingly the whole game with new extras to New 3DS? Colour me interested...
This is one of the worst E3 kept secrets ever. Period.
Saw GameXplain's video, if it's real I hope they'll continue to support the Wii U version with whatever DLC the 3DS game gets. (especially if this is just a port)
OMG yes I would love this Hyrule Warriors is so fun and the DLC is awesome.
@Quorthon 3rd party Exclusive jumping ship is not the same First party jumping ship. 3rd party jumping ship to another company shows dwindling support for the company while first part "jump ship" doesn't, just them supporting more of their own fans.
I was about to get the Wii U version, now I don't know if I should get that or wait for the 3DS version.
Ho boy... some one will lost the job!
Cool.. I never bought the Wii U version and would rather play it on my 3DS.
Welp! Even less incentive to buy a Wii U. Thanks NIntendo!
@Kevlar44 Thanks for the detailed info. I completely forgot about the multiplayer facet of this game. Unfortunately, I don't have anybody to play games with in real life as none of my friends are interested in games (those losers).
@outburst After some deliberation on my part, I think I'm going with the Wii U version. I've had my eye on it ever since January of this year as a matter of fact.
Next time Koei, try thinking about your grandma peeing.
I don't know... Hyrule Warriors kinda lost me after realizing how tedious it is to get Gold materials at times. I might get it, but only if at least local multiplayer will be in.
@Dezzy Wtf?
@BenAV I'd call this significant.
Anyways, I'm so hyped!
@whodatninja You... you don't have a 3DS?!
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG Yeah I'm getting that day one. Thanks! That makes up for the lack of the zelda costumes coming west for samurai warriors chronicles 3 just fine.
pretty sure i dont care, i played the wiiu one to death and there were still entire maps left to do till like forever and ever.
@Retro_on_theGo Well to be honest: If this was the kind of thing Nintendo thought was going to get us excited at E3 then it would be a very disappointing E3 for me personally; so hopefully there's many more and better announcements than this. A slightly cut-down, surely, port of a meh Wii U game isn't going to do it for me.
there's a image floating around showing Sonic as unlockable via Amiibo. Though everyone is sure its fake as it seems to use the Sonic Lost world artwork http://gameknights-uk.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/rumour-hyrule-warriors-coming-to-3ds.html
Woah, did not expect this!! I loved Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U, I'm honestly still playing it... This might actually make me buy a New 3DS...
@Agape1003 More likely, I saw the trailer and it looks like it said it's transferable.
Someone is unemployed now.
I'm not that bothered by this leak, since it's not something I would have been particularly impressed with anyway.
Not really interested in Hyrule Warriors.
@fed0ra7 https://youtu.be/jP-wFNlh8CE?t=1m28s
Right there, at 1:28 you can see the cover of the 3DS version. It's not a "new" 3DS cover, it's a standard 3DS cover. You don't have to worry about getting a "new" 3DS.
@HollywoodHogan No, in this fan's eyes, is bad when anyone pads out a release schedule with remakes. I've skipped all the Zelda and other Nintendo remakes so far. I've also skipped the remakes of GTAV and The Last of Us. The only remake I've bought in recent years was the Resident Evil REmake in HD. I prefer new games over remakes and ports.
Buy the 3DS game to unlock King of Red Lions and Tetra in the Wii U game?
Clever, Tecmo.
I feel bad for the person who will lose their job because of this
@Megumi I agree! I'd hate to miss out on anything. Just call it "3DS DLC Pack" and I would buy it!
@Mus1cLov3r Nope. Just a Wii U!
@abe_hikura ...Definitely taking it with a grain of salt, but if it has amiibo support, I'll definitely consider getting this.
@HollywoodHogan LOL
@whodatninja Aw... I never like hearing (reading?) that someone doesn't own a 3DS/New 3DS; it's my favorite system of all time, afterall. :-/
@Randomname19
I want that character swap thing to be dlc. Actually, I'm kinda hoping all the 3ds features will become dlc, but I doubt it.
@outburst I won't forget...you can't make me! I won't...where am I?
Seriously though I should not be this excited for a port but I am stoked! Can not wait to play Tetra on the WiiU...I wonder if the Zelda amiibo has an extra weapon unlock?
No thanks, HW is more than enough Warriors games for me for the next 100 years. I played it quite a lot but it has become so repetive (even in 2-player mode which I PREFERRED, even if it runs worse) I just don't want to play it, when I have an option for Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros etc.
N3DS Exclusive please?
Woah! I'm actually kinda excited about this. Loved Hyrule Warriors! However I will only buy this game if it has some sort of cross-save support. I really don't want to spend the time upgrading and leveling up charaters from 2 different versions of the game. So If I can play on the WiiU then continue playing on 3DS with my same save data. Then this is a day 1 buy for me!
Wait, the King guy is also the boat guy? I clearly did not pay enough attention to Wind Waker, despite loving that game and completing it twice.
I was thinking about getting the Wii U version, but I'll get the 3DS one instead if it has more characters. I'd love to play as Tetra.
@SuperWiiU What is wrong with you?!?!?!oneslash
If this version has all the dlc I would get it. I did not get the Wii u version cause other games were out. Now for a cheaper price and extras included I would buy it on 3ds.
Ugh. Forget it. I can't stay away from this site. The game looks interesting but it's probably a New 3DS exclusive so I wouldn't be able to get it anyway.
@NintendoFan64 Yeah, I do find it odd that Toon Link wasn't in the trailer, If he was i would of completely disregarded it out of hand
@TwilightAngel
Because if Smash 4 taught us anything, it's that console versions are always better than handheld versions.
So, um, a golden ocarina?
Is it just me, or did anybody else want to see Tetra done in the style of Hyrule Warriors instead of the standard cell shaded version?
How can the 3DS even run this type of a game??
Good, I'm glad stuff like this is getting leaked early because stuff like this isn't worth a lot of their time during the Digital Event. They only have so much time and these "meh" games don't need to steal the show from the bigger announcements.
P.S. This being Nintendo's 3rd year having a Digital Event I have to say I prefer these to the stage shows now even though I didn't think I would back when they first announced they were doing this in 2013.
The stage shows I'm sure, cost way more money, and there is a much bigger chance of there being some kind of oops moment during a live event. Also, and maybe this is just me, these stage shows can be SO corny and lame at times. When you have developers come out and jump around the stage it's just embarrassing. Also when you have content announced and barely anyone cheers or claps that is pure egg on the company's face.
Finally, these digital events are, in a way, proof that Nintendo, at times, jumps into the future before anyone else. I doubt 10 years from now that anyone will continue to do live stage shows. It just makes much better sense from a financial standpoint and a marketing standpoint to have a taped presentation and then have people go hands on with your product on the show floor.
I'm not even excited about this. I'm just mad that anybody actually saw this and told everybody about it. I absolutely hate having Nintendo's E3 leaked, it's like being told what your Christmas presents are on Chirstmas eve. It ruins all the fun waiting for and thinking about, even if it is a disapointment. Just save the surprises for E3 damnit. Nintendo already had 1 direct (on one smash direct coming later) right before E3, so I expecting Nintendo to show crap. And now that we have another surprise ruined, I don't have high hopes for E3.
$40 DLC? Yikes...
@outburst Nice one
I wish it is not exclusive to new 3DS!!! SUPER
@Moshugan Same way it runs the other three Musou games?
Why are some people saying it is N3ds exclusive? It isn't.
I'll buy it if you can transfer save files.
I kinda wish you could transfer save files with Xenoblade Chronicles and the 3DS port. Would have made be regret my purchase of the 3DS game a little less
@Kirk
yeah that would be awesome!
@Grumblevolcano actually, the King of Red Lions is only in Wind Waker. Link travels on Linebeck's ship in Hourglass. God I love that game.
@InterwebUser Thanks for clearing it up, it's been forever since I last played Phantom Hourglass. Maybe I'll play through it again if it comes to Wii U VC.
It'd be nice if they had references to more Zelda games besides the original/3d ones. I was somewhat disappointed at the lack of references to 2d zeldas, such as the Oracle games, and Phantom Hourglass.
I wonder if it will be playable on the old 3DS or if you have to have a new 3DS. I had this gut feeling from the Time the Wii-U version came out that this was going to happen.
**Well after watching the video its being played on the New 3DS. it might be time for me to buy a New 3DS.**
@SuperWiiU didn't you know that Dragon Quest games are no longer allowed in the North America and Europe. its a new rule.......There will be no Dragon Quest for North America and Europe. that's how the memo reads. haha
forget about it, only coming to japan, just checked on wikipedia...noooooooooo
@Grumblevolcano Isn't there a stamp feature in PH where you have to close the DS, how is that gonna work on Wii U VC?
Well, this certainly came out of the blue! Definitely gonna grab this one, I love the WiiU game and I don't normally play Warriors games, last game I played that was even vaguely similar before Hyrule Warriors was Mystic Heroes on the Gamecube but boy was it horrible to progress in that...
@Jumpman Not going to be surprised if it's N3DS only. Even with the cut down detail, it's probably more than the 3DS can handle. There's still hope though, personally hoping I'm entirely wrong.
I don't care if it's leaking, I'll lap it all up... Too gross?
Anyways... I'll replay the turnips out of this for sure! Lemme at it!
Eh if this would've been announced at e3 I wouldn't have cared. Nothing really new here and I plan on getting the wii u one still. Although now I will probably not visit this site till end of next week as I don't want something actually big to be found out early...
@SanderEvers Even so, I'm still not completely sold on it if you can just transfer the characters to the Wii U version.
Day one purchase for me. I really enjoyed the first one and it will be interesting to see what the 3DS version adds (aside from the two additional characters).

cross save
Yep! I will buy this game.
Don't have a Wii U so I'm glad to see this.
@sinalefa
"Groose or no purchase"
Umm, ya... I'm going to have to go ahead and call you on that bluff lol. If there's one person that's going to be lining up before stores open for this game, it's you Sina.
I really hope there is some kind of save file sharing between the games, I would love to be able to take my wii u save file along with me on 3ds. I dont think i could handle starting all over again
And if there is no save file sharing i will likely not even buy it, So hopefully the extra characters also become dlc for the wii u version.
@rylo151 I would assume there is cross saves, Koei's other Warrior games on PS3 and vita support it. Of course they might not but the character unlock suggests there is some interactivity between the two
I guess Nintendo isn't that happy about it!
If its the same game, then I am not interested (I do hope Tetra and King of red lions will also be available for the Wii u version). I hope this doesn't mean there isn't a proper, new 3DS Zelda on the cards. I seem the only one on the planet who wants that!
Oh, and I don't want this game to clog up the E3 showing! I want new stuff!!
The obligatory negative from the wide world of Nintendo trolling seems to be "Oh noes, Wii U loses an exclusive!"....
A year later, and the game that very few people expected to succeed is getting a special 3DS edition. I really can't see the downside. Pretty much anyone who was gonna buy it on Wii U already has it, and for those with just a 3DS...good news.
For someone like myself that got rid of his Wii U, this is great news for me. I never played this on Wii U (as I could barely find it in stores), so I'll definitely be picking this up to fill up on some more Zelda-goodness!!!
@Henmii I would love a new 3DS Zelda to go with the Wii U version.
As for HW on 3DS. Ill be getting this as i dont have a Wii U and really wanted to play it. Now if they could release a Splatoon 3DS as well lol
Thank god this isn't 'new' exclusive. Wonder how the framerate will cope and whether they'll actually add 3D.
@JaxonH
I still have two whole maps in Adventure mode that I need to tackle. It would be insane to buy it again for exactly the same content. Specially since I play my 3ds at home.
@Ryu_Niiyama Oh, I didn't realize 3DS had any Musou games. I just thought the 3DS was too weak for so many enemies. Even the Wii U Musou games have framerate issues I think?
@sinalefa
Ok. I thought for sure you'd have been all over this. I know I am. I love having good games on 3DS, just in case I ever need them when I'm out and about somewhere
I know it sounds like bullcrap, but I think Splatoon may also be released for 3DS. It really seems like Nintendo is trying to give the 3DS a longer lifespan and connect it with Wii U
Yep, it's real. Those are 3DS graphics, and how could Tetra and The King of Red Lions be edited into it? It looks too real, and that was a full on leak.
@ericwithcheese2
This is increasingly one of my problems with Nintendo. They are too heavily focused on reselling the same old games over and over again. This treads the line of having 4 Zelda rereleases/remakes in 5 years, even though it's just a port. Still. I'm tired of them trying to sell me on rebuying the same crap over and over. I don't do it anywhere else, and I'm not going to do it for Nintendo.
@Quorthon Nintendo is the worst when it comes to trotting out old stuff in "remake" form... but it's increasingly becoming a problem everywhere. The Last of Us Remastered - just a year and a half after it came out? GTAV rereleased already? Halo: The Master Chief Collection? Granted these are on new platforms, but so has these other Nintendo remakes (Wii U/3DS).
I think it's a growing issue everyone has and it only seems to get worse all around.
So ARE we going to learn anything new for Nintendo at this year's E3?
I am a bit jealous though, because it seems the 3DS version has all the DLC for free (while I paid for it). It was still worth it though, and besides this version will look weaker (and probably with more slowdown) then the original version.
@Randomname19 you can send to the wii u
I'm excited to play Hyrule Warriors on 3DS because I never bought it on Wii U. An All-Stars edition with all the DLC would be an insta-buy for me.
