Re: Editorial: Rediscovering the Gems of the Wii U Library

MrGuinea

There's tons of games that I either have or need to get for the Wii U that want to play. If I had all the time in the world and finished all of them, then yes I probably would be unhappy right now with the lack of software. But there's so many great games for this system, I can't really complain. Which is why I'm not to worried about not getting the NX until late next year because I have so many old games to play.

Re: UK Retailer Tesco Adds Nintendo NX Order Page With £349.99 Price

MrGuinea

Hmmm, $450 seems kinda steep for Nintendo. I think it will need to be between $300 to $350 for them to sell well. Unless it's super revolutionary like they say and people eat it up. Either way, I'm saving my money for something else next year and won't have the money by then. So I'll have to be nice next year and maybe Santa will give me some money for Christmas to fully purchase it lol. I have a giant backlog of games anyways.

Re: Nintendo NX Is "Fantastic" And "Something New", Says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot

MrGuinea

@yomanation "Your whole comment"
Glad you took the time to refute all of my statements. I'll ignore the fact that your refutes didn't really refute anything, and say once again that Ubisoft is driven by profits instead of game development. The point being that they still made a PROFIT from ZombiU, just not what they wanted so they stopped. They then tried to port ZombiU over to the other systems in order to gain MORE of a profit. They throw together lousy ports of games in order to maybe make a profit, then complain when they didn't sell (no duh, because everyone played it 2 years ago and nothing is different, hint: should've used the gamepad more). I fully understand why Ubisoft and other large 3rd parties companies do what they do: money. And I understand why indie developers do what they do: they want to make a cool game. If you can't recognize these 2 obvious differences, then I have no quarrel with you. I'm not going to argue with someone that's defending a company for not making quality games or caring about making them.

You also use a lot of fallacies in your response, which is another reason I'm not arguing. I may not be a game developer, but at least I know how to debate.

But have fun trying to refute each and every sentence of this one as I won't be around to see it.

Re: Nintendo NX Is "Fantastic" And "Something New", Says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot

MrGuinea

@yomanation Lol. I'm not being ungrateful. I just hate it when these large companies use excuses to not make games for a system. The old excuses of "it's too hard" and "they don't sell" don't fly anymore. You have all these small indie developers who port their games over to the Wii U with exclusive features for the gamepad while Ubisoft enables "off screen play". Then they keep cranking out Just Dance because "the audience loves it". But when really ZombiU sold over twice as many units as Just Dance did. So why bother with Just Dance? Because it's easy and they're lazy. I'm just sick of these large developers "waiting" for a system to do good. In order for a system to do good, it depends on the software. These large 3rd parties just aren't willing to go out of their way to make good games. They're too worried about losing $1 than making $5 and making gamers happy. I generally stick with indie games now because they actually care about making games instead of turning a huge profit.

Re: Capcom Working On New Monster Hunter To "Aggressively" Increase Sales

MrGuinea

If they release one for the NX I might pick it up. Last one I played was Tri for Wii and I spent over 500 hours on that game. I didn't pick up the Tri reboot (since I knew it'd be 500 repeated hours) and MH4 was cool but I would've need the CPP in order to play it and at that point I was just going to wait for a console release. I don't have 500 free hours anymore, but I still love that thrill of the hunt.

Re: Pokémon GO Has Lost 79 Percent of its Paying Population

MrGuinea

Well of course it has. When you add features that nobody wanted, and don't fix what everyone is complaining about, people are going to quit playing. I quit playing particularly for that reason. The tracking sucked on it to where finding pokemon is impossible. Then they ban people for using other tracking software because their jealous they can't make one as good. It's going to remain this way until they release the 2nd gen. But if the main bugs and issues aren't fixed and more unwanted features are added in, then I doubt people are going to get back into it.

Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

MrGuinea

Lol people will always complain about anything and never be happy with themselves. They turned mario into a simple mobile game that casual gamers can play while waiting in line at a restaurant.

It's not meant for those who like to whip out their 3DS for hours of gameplay. And they aren't grabbing for money since it's a set price. They could be evil and have microtransactions for lives, levels, or power ups in order to play. It's not one of those endless games either because it's still mario at heart. I'll definitely enjoy this when it comes to Android, while all you twiddle your thumbs and complain about the world.

Re: Talking Point: The Scale of the Mobile Industry Makes it an Important Market for Nintendo

MrGuinea

AC release this fall, with a follow up NX release to go with it. Then maybe FE will launch alongside a Fire Emblem NX title? I suppose one can hope...lol.

Them releasing all these little games for different IPs (Metroid, Pikmin, AC, FE) brings down the hopes of them actually being a release IP for the NX. There's not much else besides the usual Mario games for the NX (and Zelda which is already announced, but they need more than that). While I wouldn't mind a rehash of smash with all DLC or splatoon for NX since I haven't played the DLC or splatoon, I know a lot of people would mind. The odds of them making Kid Icarus or anything are very low as well.

Re: A New Pikmin Game is Coming to 3DS

MrGuinea

Really hoping that this isn't Pikmin 4 as well. I'll still check it out as more information is released about it, but I really love the RTS gameplay that Pikmin offers. It sounds like this game is going to lack that and be more ChibiRobo style.

But more bad news, it looks like if there IS a Pikmin 4 in development, it means it's probably not going to be an NX release with this 3DS Pikmin coming in 2017. Pikmin NX is basically the only reason I would think about getting an NX next year, no matter what the specs were of it. Without that release, I'll probably end up getting one in 2018 or for christmas 2017 at the earliest.

Re: Rumour: Buddy Pokémon Could Be on the Way to Pokémon GO

MrGuinea

So glad they are working on new features before all of the other broken stuff is fixed. If they think this is going to get people back in to playing it, it won't. It's a nice feature for later on, but right now it needs to have actual pokemon elements in it to make it feel like a pokemon game. And don't even get me started on the dumb tracker that's useless.

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan

MrGuinea

Lol. I'm just glad I can enjoy the games I like and that I don't have to base what I like off of what everyone else thinks is cool. Some people just can't have their own voice or opinion on what they think is a great game. If it's something they don't want, they get offended that the developers weren't thinking about them when they made it. Some people are so self-centered it's ridiculous.

All in all, yes it didn't sell many, but those are 4,000 people who were really excited about playing a metroid game, and are now enjoying a good game while everyone else sits there and complains about not playing a metroid game.

People need to calm themselves before they go around telling what everyone else should be playing. Turns out, everybody isn't you, so please do us all a favor, and get over it. Let people enjoy whatever games they want. I may think Zebra Unicorn Ranch 3 is an awesome game, while you may hate that game. I don't care if you buy it, but I'm the one having fun while everyone else isn't.

Re: Dan Adelman on Why the Wii U Axiom Verge Port is the Best Version

MrGuinea

Love indie developers. Even when large 3rd party developers complain and whine because it's "too hard" to port a game to the Wii U let alone also develop new exclusive gamepad controls, these small indie devs completely show them up and create new definitive versions of games that had already been released. Big 3rd party companies have NO excuses for not developing for the Wii U. If a small indie company can do it, they can to.

Re: Eidos Montreal "Never Thought About The NX" For Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

MrGuinea

With nobody talking about any games for the NX, it seems like Nintendo is probably having them keep their mouths shut until the actual release. Games might give away details about the systems Nintendo doesn't want people to know yet.

But with March being about half a year away I'm wondering when we'll get to actually hear about it. Maybe we're all wrong and the March 2017 release is just the release of what the NX actually is and it will see a Nov 2017 release lol.

Re: EA Talks Possible Plans for NX

MrGuinea

"We're going to wait and see if it is successful" is the worst approach ever. If everybody did that, no consoles would be sold anywhere because there would be no software. We all know how that turned out for the wii U when every developer besides Nintendo and indie ones jumped ship and then complained about poor sales.

We'll see if EA just shovels over bad ports again and complains that no one is buying them 2 years after they've released on other platforms.

@gatorboi352 The fact that these 3rd party developers don't spend any time on a good games for Wii U is why they shoot themselves in the foot. Nintendo can appease them all they want but they don't control the content or quality of the game. When the PC/PS version is 10 times better than the Wii U version, EA can't complain when it doesn't sell well because they chose to go the cheap route and throw out a bad game. It's silly when Nintendo gets blamed for all of this, because it's not their fault. The companies choose not to, not Nintendo. Which is why there are a bunch of great indie developers who make super great games for the Wii U, and these big 3rd party companies can't even make a halfway decent one.

Re: Work For Volkswagen? Better Delete Pokémon GO From Your Phone

MrGuinea

Seems unnecessary. They would have to delete all of their apps from their phone using that same reasoning. Do they want to delete snapchat as well since that uses the camera? Do they want to surgically remove the GPS since even with that on anything and other apps can still track your location? They could just give out pagers and take away all their cell phones if they wanted to "prevent things".

Re: Sources Suggest That Pokémon and Mario Will Arrive on Nintendo NX in First Six Months

MrGuinea

@wiggleronacid I agree, but it's more like a pizza shop specializing in grinders, pasta, appetizers along with the pizza, while the other pizza shops still pump out the same old pizza just loading it with more toppings and asking if people still like it. While yes, they still are both pizza shops competing, the Nintendo pizza shop has more to offer than just your typical pizza. This is what Nintendo is referring to by "not in competition".

Re: Pokémon GO Rolls Out in Latin America as Niantic Reclaims Legendary Pokemon

MrGuinea

@Jeronan Until they fix tracking in app, 3rd party tracking is how you do it.

When I see an ultra rare pokemon listed in game as the first pokemon, but then go and check a 3rd party tracking app, the ultra rare pokemon is nowhere around me. This has happened several, several times to me where a pokemon listed as close is actually nowhere around me. I'm not about to waste my time to wander around aimlessly for a pokemon that doesn't even exist. It wasn't the footprints that were the problem, the whole tracking system isn't correct when you compare it to the 3rd party apps people have developed. It makes the game frustrating and a struggle just to find an uncommon pokemon.

Not to mention that I have found several rare pokemon that were right next to me, and the in game tracking showed it not even listed. They just don't want themselves to look bad, in that so many other people could figure out their tracking API, Niantic themselves couldn't even get it decently working. Why can complete strangers figure out an API that Niantic itself can't even get working?

Niantic shouldn't be focused on new features. It should be focused on getting existing features working correctly. Otherwise, instead of working old features, you just get a bunch of old and new features that don't work right.

Re: Hollywood Director Oliver Stone Brands Pokémon GO "Surveillance Capitalism"

MrGuinea

"Ooo look at this guy he went to Walmart to...catch a Koffing. Oh wait he's now heading over to the restaurant probably to get a bite to...oh wait he's just catching another staryu."

The "personalized ads" won't mean much considering PokemonGO is causing me to go to places I never shop at. I just go there to catch Pokemon, not to do anything else. So if anything I'm skewing their data by making them think I go places, when in reality I never actually do. Not sure how this can benefit them.

Re: Talking Point: The Viral Reaction to Pokémon GO is a Surprise Gift for Nintendo

MrGuinea

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Love how you go out of your way to view all of the pokemon go articles only to comment how you hate viewing them. Seems like your just begging for attention. Especially when you tell everyone to just read over your comments when really you could just be reading over these articles and not actually click on them OR comment on them. But you go out of your way just to make sure everyone knows your opinion.

And just letting you know, I'll be doing better things than waiting for you to respond. I'm just letting you know of your hypocrisies so you learn in the future.

Re: New My Nintendo Rewards Are Now Available in North America

MrGuinea

Really missing the elimination of physical rewards. Those were actually worth something to get because nobody else could get those unless they had points. Discounts or games is something everyone can get with money without the points. I feel there should be something really special you can get with your points instead of a percent off.

Re: Nintendo NX Has A Core Idea Which Doesn't Just "Follow Advancements In Technology", Claims Miyamoto

MrGuinea

Why do people view great innovations as gimmicks? Motion controls and the gamepad made video games awesome and immersive instead of the boring old 2 joystick button mashing gameplay. Nintendo is the only one still trying to further innovate gameplay. Everyone else is just saying "more power, more power, we need more power to make good games". Nintendo games have always been better than those hi-def games, and they aren't made on a super powerful machine. Developers are relying more on graphics to make their gameplay awesome instead of actual gameplay.

I'm all for any innovation, and if it is powerful, that's just frosting on the cake.

Re: Editorial: An Ode To The Wii U GamePad, Nintendo's Mad But Brilliant Controller

MrGuinea

There was several issues that caused this great innovation to go into a blunder:

The naming and advertising was terrible. For the first year and half nobody knew they had even came out with a new console. I worked in a store during this time, and so many customers thought the Wii U games played on the Wii. They also thought the Wii U systems was just an upgrade, and didn't even know about the gamepad.

95% of developers didn't know what to do with the gamepad. With 3rd party titles coming to PS and XBox, those developers didn't want to implement a unique experience for the Wii U, so they just went with off-screen play and called it good. Then they complained their (downgraded) software didn't sell well on the console and then backed out. It got the Wii U in a vicious cycle with 3rd parties who stopped making games for it, yet somehow expected it to do good. The only ones that did make great use out of it were small developers who published some gems on the eShop.

And last, Nintendo themselves didn't fully implement the gamepad in a lot of it's software. There was a few games like Nintendoland, Pikmin 3, Wii Party U, and Mario Maker that did some interesting and fun things, but overall they missed great chances with Metroid, Battalion Wars, Fire emblem, FZero, and other IPs that skipped this generation, that could have done some more good stuff with the gamepad. The fact that they never even did anything with dual gamepad support means they probably thought the gamepad was going to implement itself instead of them doing it.

Overall, I hope Nintendo learned something from this. If the NX does have some kind of new innovation, they can't expect everyone to just understand and jump on board. They need to put forth effort too.

Re: Rumour: Someone Tried To Steal The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Demo, And Failed

MrGuinea

How did somebody not notice someone was hacking in, turning on the internet settings, going to a specific website, then going back to the game?

And everyone should remember what happened when the new Smash story plot and cutscenes were spoiled well before the release. The whole thing got removed. I understand the fun of hacking, but please don't ruin it for everyone else, and hack something else and just be patient.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Nintendo's Expanded E3 Plans?

MrGuinea

This won't be the worst E3 Nintendo has had trust me. The inclusion of Zelda here makes that so. Last years E3 was worse than this one. Nintendo over the past few years has started announcing games regularly, which means E3 has no surprises at all. People just talk for hours about a game that everyone already has seen before. Zelda is the first game in a long time that they haven't said anything about before the presentation. We knew about all the games last year and there were no surprises at all. Here's to hoping that this Zelda is truly amazing.

I say that this is just a game announcement for Nintendo (Zelda) and the REAL TRUE E3 for Nintendo will be when they show off the NX later this year. E3 will just come a little bit later this year for NIntendo fans.

Re: Nintendo Sure Has Booked A Lot Of Floor Space For E3 2016

MrGuinea

I just hope this year's E3 will be better than last year. Last year it was mainly just showing off games that had been announced months prior to the event. I'm glad Zelda will be completely new, but I just hope that's enough meat for people to chew on till the NX direct later in the year.

Re: Feature: Five Nintendo Franchises We'd Love to See As Movies

MrGuinea

Pikmin makes the most sense as it would have such a broad appeal (i.e. family/kids movie or gamers). They've already scoped the field out with the animation shorts which were incredible. I would enjoy a fire emblem anime series but probably not a full movie. I don't think it would do as well as a movie.

Everyone who wants Metroid would probably end up complaining that it's not Prime 4 . So Nintendo will probably avoid that with a 200 foot pole.

Re: Smartphone Animal Crossing And Fire Emblem Will Both Be Free-To-Play

MrGuinea

Complains that Nintendo games aren't on other devices.
Complains that Nintendo games are on other devices.

I'm happy Nintendo is trying out the mobile phone market. I think as long as Nintendo makes everything obtainable without giving money these will be great. It's when mobile games force you to pay in order to get to the next level that they become bad. I'm hoping the AC mobile game will be a companion app for a real game coming out on the NX which sounds like they've mentioned that.

Re: Soapbox: Why Websites Don’t Need to Give a Game a Review Score (and Probably Shouldn’t)

MrGuinea

These days, a game can be buggy and glitchy as ever and still get the nomination for GOTY. I believe if there are things seriously wrong with the game that prevents a user from fully experiencing it, then the game should be deemed below average. But just because a new solitaire video game doesn't have the same graphics or gameplay as splatoon doesn't mean that it is a terrible game. There's some solitaire fanatics out there who probably will love it and hate splatoon.

"Reviews" should be some person playing the game and just commenting on how the game is played, the mechanics behind it, and any glitches that are experienced. The people watching can determine if they want some of that action or not. A number on a video game shouldn't determine if you want to play it.
