Re: Rumour: Free-To-Play Switch Games Won't Be Impacted By Paid Online Service

MourningBrew

@PanurgeJr Paying for mobile data is incomparable to this. These systems are already hooked up to wifi, we're providing the internet connections ourselves. This is Nintendo standing between players and third party servers to demand a laughably small, but still noticeable fee. It's no wonder players are pissed about it. If I pay fifty bucks for my wifi and ten for my battle pass to support epic, why should Nintendo get an extra cut, beyond the eshop revenue?

Re: Rumour: Free-To-Play Switch Games Won't Be Impacted By Paid Online Service

MourningBrew

Frankly, the idea of paying a premium for online services just because other publishers do it is already silly. If say, Epic pays to run their servers and my Switch wants to connect to said servers, there's no reason Nintendo should need to be the troll under the bridge and demand a fee. This whole concept of online features as a subscription service only makes the Switch less appealing for new players.

Re: Rocket League Developer Psyonix Reveals Item Drop Rates In Game's Crate System

MourningBrew

Not going to applaud them for this, clear rates for loot crates purchased with cash or in-game premium currencies should be legally required to be disclosed anyways. I know they need to keep monetising the game once the main playerbase has bought it, but frankly I find the loot crate cosmetic-only gambling mechanic to be super offputting. This kind of crap is barely acceptable in free-to-play gatchapon games, let alone big-name paid experiences with already-existing DLC. Just release some more cars as DLC if you need the extra cash.

Re: Funko Wants To Know What Pocket Monster Pop You Would Like Added To Its New Pokémon Line

MourningBrew

Target exclusive, laaaaame.

That said, these are cute but honestly I think part of what makes Funko fun is that they've got so darn many characters from each franchise. With Pokemon, I think they should try to pump out more figures year by year and gradually flesh out a collection. I'd happily buy a couple figures of some of my favorites, and I'm sure other people would too. I typically buy funkos because there aren't many figures of the characters I want to buy, but there's no shortage of Pikachu figures out there.

Re: Review: Mario Tennis Aces (Switch)

Games like this are why Nintendo needs to stop pricing every main game at 60 USD. A content-light afternoon game like this one just isn't a comparable value to BOTW, Odyssey etc. This is the kind of game I grab for thirty bucks Canadian if that, and enjoy for the price. If I bought it for eighty I'd be too bothered by how much it costs to really enjoy what little content there is.

Re: Sony "Looking At A Lot Of The Possibilities" When It Comes To Fortnite Cross-Play Support

MourningBrew

Unless if they can work out a way for Epic to merge accounts, it's too late for a lot of us. I'd love to bring my limited edition skins from my old Sony account over to the Nintendo one, but as is even if cross-play is added my old Sony account will be the one I abandon. Shame you can't trade. Really seems like you should be able to, this'd work great if it had a system like TF2.

Re: Exploring The Legalities Of Sony's Fortnite Restrictions On Nintendo Switch

MourningBrew

@yuwarite Yeah, pretty much. They make some sweet consoles but after all the BS with the PS4 generation I'm pretty much ready to switch to Xbox for my next console. Especially if it lets me jump to my Switch for cross-play, that's the best of both worlds. Sony's already restricted me from playing with my friends, may as well jump ship and save a few hundred.

Re: Sony's Share Value Takes A Hit Following Fortnite Account Woes On Nintendo Switch

MourningBrew

Good. This may seem like a small issue but it's really just an example of Sony's unwillingness to support cross-play and allow their customers to branch out to different games on different consoles. I've had a Nintendo and a Sony console on my TV every generation since I had my first paper route, and I've never felt like one system somehow made the other redundant. Never bothered with Xbox but with all this talk about the next gen coming I'm thinking of switching over. Fact is that the Xbox is playing ball and the Playstation cripples its own multiplayer by restricting you to the Sony kiddie pool.

I've been pretty unimpressed with the company's behavior this past generation and if they aren't supporting backwards compatibility now either, I see no reason to go with a PS5 over an XB2. Not like the exclusives have really blown me away anyways, outside of maybe Horizon.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Director Explains Why Motion Controls Are Mandatory

MourningBrew

Regarding the "accessible to everyone" thing, not sure what the problem is in a game with motion controls not having an alternative. Evidently he thinks part of the core experience is the tossing of the Pokeball, similar to how it is in Go. I wouldn't call motion-heavy games like Just Dance or Wii Sports "inaccessible", they're just aimed at a different audience. And yeah, if you have a disability preventing you from throwing the ball that sucks, but there are plenty of other games out there that won't require motion.

Re: The Genki USB Bluetooth Adapter Finally Brings Low-Latency Audio To Switch

MourningBrew

This is nice and all, but that thing sticking right out of the console doesn't exactly help portability. I'm still hoping to get some solution like an update or maybe a joy-con with a built in bluetooth antenna, anything practical. Still weirded out that they didn't think people would be using headphones on this machine, I've been wearing bluetooth headphones around day-to-day for years.

Re: Review: PixelJunk Monsters 2 (Switch eShop)

MourningBrew

I was thinking about this one but found the framerate and general performance really lacking in the demo. Not to discourage demos, I generally really like Spike Chunsoft and buy their stuff. Just kinda was hoping it'd be better optimized. I'll happily buy a cheap port of the original game, though.

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Will Invade Your Switch In Spring 2019

MourningBrew

@bratzdoll I'd prefer some gay support too but I don't see what pride month has to do with it. The whole month-long social media campaign is mostly just a western thing. I'm just hoping you can adopt a child instead of Niles just being a dead end.

Besides, pride month is literally a 12th of the whole year so it doesn't actually matter. It's not like announcing it on a special holiday that people care about, the whole month of June is now supposed to be tied to annoying your facebook friends and as a result it kinda ends up not mattering after the first week.
