Re: You Likely Won't Be Able To Catch 'Em All In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

MourningBrew

@Royalblues In the older games, the inclusion of the natdex was a post-game reward. Some of us like having more content to do after we knock out the Champion.

It also devalues your collection when you know your shiny mons might not be compatible with future entries. Part of the fun of older Pokemon is knowing that if you choose to, you can bring your pokemon from one gen to the next.

Re: Pokémon Rumble Rush Shuts Down, Just One Year Since Launch

MourningBrew

@Wilforce Pretty much the only freemium games I ever spend cash on are Fortnite, Tf2, games I expect to be still around a decently long while from now. Nintendo's crappy track record with pulling the plug on any game that doesn't print money does not inspire me to be an early adopter of anything they put out.

Re: New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Is Driving The Scalpers Market In North America

MourningBrew

@NookMiler Typically it's up to the companies selling the product to deal with scalpers, lest their core audience be unable to buy from them and lose interest. Often people forget that while "supply and demand" does apply, scalping and especially price gouging are abuses of the system and generally not allowed. If every product is being scalped, the system is not working as intended.

Re: Nintendo "Unwilling" To Confirm If 88-Year-Old Grandma Has Her Own Character In Animal Crossing

MourningBrew

@ijulesvel This isn't about the diversity of the audience, it's about the story being the lack of a comment. I generally like Nintendolife, but on slow news days, this site tends to just turn anything, be it tweets with a dozen likes or angry amazon reviews into stories and all they really do is clutter up the feed for the readers. If Nintendo had commented on this story, or if there was anything to be contributed in general, it would serve a purpose. As is, it's clutter.

Re: Random: Scared Of Spiders? Then Don’t Try This Animal Crossing: New Horizons Trick

MourningBrew

Trying this out now, just for funsies. It's a cool theory, but it doesn't work quite as well as the article implies. You get a decent amount of tarantulas, but many more wharf roaches and unfortunately, tiger beetles can spawn without any parent objects so long as there's land.

Spider Island is a different beast from this, to be clear. Using a Nook miles ticket at night gives you a random chance of going to specific special islands, one of which features a moat with a smaller clump of land littered with ore boulders and guarded by tons of tarantulas. It's very deliberate, not randomized, and has been recorded by tons of different players by now.

This glitch is cool to go for, but the time it takes to pull off doesn't reward you with much. Wandering around trying to get them to spawn takes a good while. You could be up pretty late if you tried to fill your inventory this way.

Re: GAME Staff "Increasingly Worried" About Animal Crossing: New Horizons Demand During Coronavirus Outbreak

MourningBrew

@zool The issue with buying physical is interacting with others. Deliveries are generally safe because they aren't exposed to crowds, and usually the virus won't survive transit. Ordering a game on Amazon is way safer than waiting in line. Ordering digital, while probably not your preference, is safer than going out and infects fewer people. I implore you to stay at home and flatten the curve.

Re: Random: Animal Crossing Players Are Filling Up Their Islands With Bugs And Fish

MourningBrew

I know that most big fans playing on day 1 had to deal with this, but frankly I wasn't too bothered by it. It's tacky on the island, sure, but it makes more sense than starting with the museum and for most regular, non-obsessive players, it won't be a problem. It would have been nice to have a way to hand stuff off to the museum before he got there, but the little inconveniences are a part of what makes Animal Crossing feel alive.

Re: id Software's Marty Stratton "Stunned" By DOOM Eternal Switch Port, Thinks People Are Going To "Love It"

MourningBrew

I'm glad they're taking the port seriously, but I don't imagine it'll be a full 60FPS given that Doom 4 ran at 30. That's not bad, in fact it's super understandable, but if this is anything like Doom 4 then that frame rate is going to make a pretty huge difference. I'll probably be waiting a few months for a sale on PS4. I love playing games on my Switch, but I'm not sure portability beats frames in this case.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Won't Lock Any Customisation Options Behind Gender

MourningBrew

@mesome713 It's not really anti-science so much as a social thing, but I would like to see it become standard for games with avatar designs. It's fine if the protagonist is a relatively defined character, but if they're a blank slate make-your-own-hero type then I don't see much of an excuse to restrict stuff like hairstyles, especially if they're meant to resemble the players themselves.

Re: Site News: We're Changing The Way We Handle Switch Screenshots

MourningBrew

Kinda surprised it took this long to implement something like this, seems like it should be standard for most review sites.

I'm still baffled by how hard it is to find out how a game runs on Switch. If I want to buy say, Assassin's Creed, it should be super fast to find the frame rate, resolution and some notes on the general stability. That would be a great tidbit to have visible in each review.

Re: Yuri Visual Novel SeaBed Comes To Switch Next Month With Two Brand New Scenes

MourningBrew

@LUIGITORNADO I would assume the reason is that it's a visual novel without a whole lot going for it, rather than a game with anime designs. This is hardly the first time this site has shared pictures of anime, nor the most explicit. Plenty worse than this gets pushed out and covered on Nintendolife year after year, albeit generally aimed towards a male, teenage audience. It's kinda telling that this is where you draw the line.
