Re: Soapbox: Fortnite Is Coming So Nintendo Really Needs To Sort Out Its Voice Chat Problem

MourningBrew

@JTMnM As someone who preordered that darn headset I can say this image gives me PTSD. With the wireless Pokeball joy-con coming out it seems like they're able to make tech that connects just like a controller with different input. So... Maybe an update and a wireless headset are in order? Please? Preferably one you could just use like bluetooth headphones but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. The headset situation on Switch needs a do-over.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Need A Switch Online Sub For Core Gameplay Features

MourningBrew

This super-casual spinoff is starting to sound interesting. The idea of a Pokemon game with no GTS or online battling brings up thoughts of playing the originals when you had to find someone with the right pokemon in order to trade. I'm actually really looking forward to these, they'll be a fun departure from the norm. Don't get me wrong though, I'd be frustrated if any of this was here to stay. For one game, it seems like a lot of fun.

Re: Nintendo Has Updated The Switch eShop With New Functionality

MourningBrew

This is really awesome, still waiting for reviews though. Nothing complex, but people need to be able to see what consumers thought of a title. Just stars for stuff like performance, hardcore or casual etc. The store is kinda limping without it, I have to use my laptop to pick Switch games and then buy them after.

Re: Random: Praise The Bricks! Dark Souls Gets A LEGO Makeover

MourningBrew

Feels silly to be adding more to Lego Worlds like this. I picked it up early hoping for something interesting and it's probably one of the most incomplete games on Switch. Super poor performance, weird bugs, unclear menus, seemingly nonexistant online, quests that glitch out constantly to the point they can't be completed, etc. This is one of those games that makes me think the Switch needs a refund option similar to Steam.

Re: Pokémon Core Series RPG Will Arrive In The Second Half Of 2019

MourningBrew

Pretty disappointed that I won't be seeing a core gen 8 until two years into my Switch's lifespan, but I'd much rather this than a rush-job or some super-safe X and Y kind of title. I just hope Let's Go turns out to be interesting, I'm really not sure what to think of that one but it looks like it's our Pokemon for the year.

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (Switch)

MourningBrew

@rharalson As I recall from the Wii U version there's little to no voice work in Hyrule, mostly just text boxes. It's not bad acting, not really stand out though. It's similar gameplay but with a lot more character variety, which is why fans tend to hold Hyrule so highly.

If the gameplay style of FEW didn't stimulate you I don't think this will change your mind too much, but if you want to give the series a second chance Hyrule is a really good place to start.

Re: Nintendo Switch Only Accounted For 7% Of Ubisoft's Yearly Revenue

MourningBrew

They only released one important title on the system, and it didn't come attached to a million bundles of DLC and microtransactions like their other heavy hitters. I'm not surprised, and I hope they continue to develop for the Switch, ideally with the same kind of effort they put into Kingdom Battle. That game felt more polished than any Ubisoft game I've played in years.

Re: Ubisoft Is Now Hosting A Sale On The North American Switch eShop

MourningBrew

I wish they would actually put the DLC on sale too, Ubisoft never does that and it frankly feels kinda punishing to people who just bought the game to try it, liked it and wanted more. I picked up Watch_Dogs 2 awhile ago and loved it, but the season pass is more than I paid for the game itself. Pretty rough.

Would totally snap up Mario + Rabbids season pass for twenty bucks (CAD) in a heartbeat.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

MourningBrew

@BensonUii I'd also appreciate that. Canadians don't have our own Nintendolife alternative or anything, usually I just have to estimate our price to be ten or twenty bucks more than USD. People like to say Canadian prices balance out for our crap dollar but they rarely do, at least for tech. They get rounded up or down kind of randomly. I've been told that we actually get some pretty deep savings on Steam pricing.

Re: Minecraft's Platform-Unifying Bedrock Edition Arrives On Switch This June

MourningBrew

I wonder how this will work for physical copies. Couldn't one person reasonably just lend their copy to someone else to download the bedrock version? Pretty sure I've seen the game in physical before... Either way it's a little confusing for people who haven't read the news but I'm looking forward to the better together update quite a bit. It feels like the first big step forward in quite awhile.

Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

MourningBrew

@Ensemen those reasons are usually that people have already purchased virtual console titles and want to be able to import them, similar to how classic titles can be imported from PS3 to 4 or Vita. It's not some big new concept. People want to be able to play the emulators they already bought on their new system.

Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

MourningBrew

I dunno, that quote does mention they can still appear in the eshop just not under the virtual console banner.

I'm personally not too excited for classic games as a bonus for online players yet, I'm waiting to see how it goes. That said there's obviously demand for virtual console titles, and I hope at some point they choose to come back to them.

Re: Nintendo Says 3DS Will Keep Being Sold Unless Switch Becomes A "One-Per-Person System"

MourningBrew

Good, it absolutely is. I know a good few people personally who have bought 3DS systems in the last six months because they're super cheap, have a huge library and make for a good entry point. Kids can ask for a Switch for Christmas these days but for most adults dropping four hundred bucks on a new system without even knowing if you'll really get into gaming can be daunting. A 2DS with a game for a hundred bucks at BestBuy is way more accessible. The 3DS community is still alive and well, even if it does have some overlap with the Switch.

Re: Nintendo Switch Version 5.0.1 Is Now Available For Download

MourningBrew

Jesus the stability joke is so dead, please leave it be.

I like that my console receives stability updates. I want to read on Nintendolife if there's something big I should know about like themes, or new settings, something new. As for stability I'm happy to have it improve but I don't need a whole article about it, good God.

Re: Review: Flinthook (Switch eShop)

MourningBrew

@justin233 I'll agree, Gonner was just a little too rough for my liking. I enjoy Binding of Isaac, Rogue Legacy etc. But Gonner sessions were always sort of the same.

Start > Miss a jump or get swarmed > Sprint on low health for a room or two > Die

Re: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Makes The Leap To Switch And 3DS

MourningBrew

Looking forward to playing it when it goes on sale, but I'm not dropping eighty bucks on this one. Maybe when it goes on sale for thirtyish I'll look at it for the Switch. Just can't justify paying for all of these wii U games on Switch at a brand new full price, especially when many of them are thirty bucks new on the Wii U.

Re: One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Is Getting A Bootiful Deluxe Edition On Switch

MourningBrew

As a fan of One Piece (at least up to what was originally intended to be the ending) I'm still weirded out that we don't get any modern games based on the original stories. Romance Dawn (The first twelve volumes) was the best the series ever had IMO, and totally ripe for video game adaptations. What's more, it could actually be an introduction to the series because, you know, it's the beginning.

Re: Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers Will Roll Onto Nintendo 3DS This May

MourningBrew

Can you say "too late"?

I didn't mind the first game, but ultimately never finished it because the racing from tower to tower started to feel like a chore. It had potential, but I feel like the gameplay style is better suited to offensive play than defensive. If they must do another title, it seems like a missed opportunity not to drop it on the switch.

Re: Review: Bridge Constructor Portal (Switch eShop)

MourningBrew

I was a little frustrated to find after purchasing it at 18 bucks that it's just a port of some mobile game sold for 5, that might be worth addressing. I didn't assume that would be the case, I just snatched it up when it came out because I really like the franchise and wanted to see what it would be like.

Re: Saucy Visual Novel Nekopara Is Coming To Switch With Extra Content

MourningBrew

@TsukiDeity I'm well aware people can enjoy romance, but if they didn't like saucy stuff they wouldn't be buying it. This is one step down from releasing a supercut edit a porno for people who only enjoy the plot. Personally, anytime one platform gets a censored or incomplete version of a game I more or less write it off and ignore it. Unless it's the only option of course, like with FE Fates.
