Re: Overwatch Director Says Blizzard Is "Very Open-Minded" About Switch Release

MourningBrew

If the frame rate was solid I would totally check it out. I play a decent amount on the PS4 and frankly, I don't think I'd miss a lot of the little graphical touches if I were playing on Switch. I'd want them to finally add cross-save though. Loot crates seem like an even worse investment when you have a separate skin collection for PC, PS4 and Switch. If they're connected to the same account I don't see why they can't just carry over.

Re: Nintendo Adds Trio Of Games To Switch Online NES Library Next Week

MourningBrew

I know this is cheaper than PS Plus and XBL, but good lord these are underwhelming. Very disappointing. Still waiting on some SNES games at the very least, maybe Earthbound or Link to the Past. As is, this "service" really feels more like a troll under the bridge between myself and the online games that were sold to me with the understanding that I would be playing them online in the first place. Splatoon 2 doesn't even have dedicated servers yet, and we've already fractured the community with this pitiful twenty dollar tax.

Re: Nintendo Adding Three More Games To Switch Online NES Library Next Week

This is cool and all, but I feel like most people are waiting on Gamecube or at least Snes. NES games are interesting, but the lack of save files (in most) gives them more of an arcade feel, even with the restore point system. I just can't pick up that many NES games and be really entertained for more than a few minutes. The only ones I can think of that I still really sit down and play are Super Mario Bros 3, Punch Out, Donkey Kong and maybe Balloon Fight.

Re: Telltale Games Begins Majority Studio Closure With Mass Layoffs

@BensonUii Mostly. Depending on the choices one make in Season 2 they can get a sort of cliffhanger ending, but frankly it's more of a tease for season 3 than anything else. Season 1 is pretty fun and season 2, while not perfect, is really ambitious and one of my personal favourite Telltale games. I would have loved more but if it ends here, I'm still pretty happy with it.

Re: Cities: Skylines - A SimCity Successor That Struggles To Shine On Switch

MourningBrew

I'm sure a smooth, if less flashy port of this game is possible. That said, I kind of wish publishers wouldn't keep releasing games in this state. It makes me hesitant to buy any non-first party titles on launch day lest I fall victim to lag or glitches. The Switch can be a really great console but games need to be well optimised for them to really shine on it.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

MourningBrew

I find it hard to believe that cloud save for Splatoon just couldn't happen without cheating. It'd be impossible, apparently, to just update it and start storing your rank online so if your save says you're a rank x player but the server says otherwise it could just send you down. Splatoon is one of those games that players invest hundreds of hours into. It's exactly the kind of game I want a backup for in the first place.

Re: Players Have Had Enough Of Fortnite's "Unplayable" State On Switch, Send Plea To Epic Games

MourningBrew

I still play it a ton on my Switch. This past few updates it has been pretty darn buggy, but those bugs only effect the first thirty seconds or so of the game while everything loads in. It's annoying, sure, but it doesn't really effect me. I typically just drop near a location, get a gun and then move in to the location after it's loaded. It's far from unplayable, but I would still like to see them putting a greater focus on the Switch version.

Re: Telltale Admits Its Game Engine Has Let Fans Down In Recent Years

MourningBrew

I'm all for telltale games being more choices and fewer puzzles, I really like it. If anything, more QTE action sequences like in Batman, and maybe make them optional for group audiences. What I would like is just more content that isn't on a linear track. If I finish a telltale series, I want to know that my experience has been significantly different from others. It's very distracting to watch the tension in a scene evaporate after provoking a character because the linear story says it's time to move on.

Re: Is 'Switch Tax' A Real Concern, Or Just A Myth?

MourningBrew

A lot of it is probably ambitious publishers hoping to make cash on the new console. Payday 2, for instance, might have succeeded if it launched for ten bucks. At fifty though people just ignore it. I'm looking forward to the eshop getting more competitive over time.

Re: Feature: What Does Nintendo's Shutdown Of ROM-Sharing Sites Mean For Video Game Preservation?

MourningBrew

I've never used a rom of a game which had a virtual console, remaster or re-release out there. I find most people just use them to play games that can no longer be experienced, and I think that's perfect. The way to crush piracy isn't by taking these sites down, it's with convenience. If I can pay a few bucks to play a game on my Switch, I'll always choose that option first.
