Holy Moses. This is why rather than outright banning these greenlight-ish games, we just need a separate tab for them. The eshop can be for first party titles and interesting indie hits, and if you whip up some working poker game in game maker and want to force it on the world, you can have it appear in an eshop subcategory. Kind of like the PSP mobile games.
Dude, luxury or not I'm just not gonna drop that much on a case. Methinks they may have overestimated how much we cherish our systems. I'm happy with a basic thirty dollar Zelda case for the time being, and a hard one for when I travel.
This actually sounds super fun. I wish they'd update the game with tons of save files already. Disagea 5 gives you 99, after all. It simply isn't that hard to give players the choice to play as many times as they like. Y'know, without making throwaway user accounts.
@PorllM It's a docking boost. The handheld mode supports 720p, and the docked mode supports 1080. It's pretty standard on the system, the docking boost is why on your big screen the image doesn't look blown up on most games.
@RadioShadow It doesn't. Docked mode isn't just copying the image to a screen, the dock actually lends the system extra power to help it take on the role of home console. Further draw distance, sharper image, etc. Not usually frame rate though, I suspect that may be locked from being changed to keep people from letting the handheld modes of games be useless.
I wouldn't say it's unusable, but what we're really missing is some sort of a case for all the cables. Currently my headset is in the box. Not because it's unopened, but because I can't just leave a heap of cables around. How hard would it have been to give us a little squid shaped box for all the bits and pieces?
@Yasaal Don't worry. I've got it here in Canada now, you aren't missing much. You literally just sign in and it tells you to come back later when it releases for reals.
Gotta say, I'm loving the edginess of this guy. I don't care if they're cartoon animals, Sonic hasn't taken itself seriously in years and I'm just happy to see them taking it all the way, rather than constantly mocking their own game.
I know miiverse was basically worse than the black death, but I still loved the idea of it. Splatoon 2 is trying to keep its posting system self-contained but I'm holding out hope for a miiverse replacement to come along one day and maybe, so long as we're dreaming, allow you to simply tag your posts as NSFW and then draw all of the willies you want.
Seems like a good idea to me, but only if the ban time is short. I mean like, maximum of one hour short. I've had one night of frustratedly trying to get a stable connection for the wii U version. Add in that you're, say, trying to play in a hotel room with crap wireless and all of a sudden you've got a totally reasonable disconnection pattern. If you lose an hour, fair enough. It's not working out for you. If you lose say, a day, well shoot. You're straight up blocked for the whole day from playing the game you bought with the online account you're still paying for.
Tried this thing out. It's cool to show that it could work, but I'm still kind of weirded out that YouTube and Netflix have yet to show. I mean, I'm not a huge show junkie or anything and I don't miss them too much but it's kind of bizarre to have our only video app be NicoNico.
"DN: There’s a possibility for everything and anything in this world."
Dude, it's cool if you don't wanna support the Switch. Don't try to give people the "anything is possible" routine though, and don't make up a reason. Say it's power. Or dealing with different resolutions. Heck, say you don't like the tone of gray on the system. Don't make up a reason that doesn't make sense to the console owners, it just makes you look silly.
@Bengals76 Power hasn't been their target for over a decade now. They focus on affordable hardware and let the software sell the system, typically. It's why your cheap-o 3DS only cost you short of 200 bucks.
Very suspicious lack of gameplay or even mechanics being shown here. Co-op games are all about mechanics, sad to say story just isn't the top priority in a co-op title for me. I'm hoping it'll change that come release, but frankly I'm not holding my breath.
Eh, I think the best stability is the type you don't even notice. My 3DS has always performed perfectly (pardoning one brief time where it used to stay asleep after you opened it up, but that's long past). Glad to have them working behind the scenes though to keep that the standard. I still do play the system a fair bit even with the Switch, although I do wish I could bring a lot of my games over even if it took re-purchasing them Mariokart style.
@AlexOlney Actually, I'm kind of with him. It is helpful to have a video laying out the info, but Nintendolife isn't a charity. We keep our adblockers off and do what we can to support the site because we like it, seems like he's entitled to give feedback if it would lead to him visiting the site more.
Heck, I would too. I'm not a fan of YouTube videos, I also prefer to just read and check the images when there's something to show off.
@Equinox I am getting that vibe, but seeing how much re-balancing the first game went through I suspect we're gonna see a few weeks of bullet hell followed by some well-needed nerfing once they know who the greatest offenders are.
I know that the first game ended up getting extensions to its content, but I'd still really hope that the Splatfests go for more than two years. They don't require much from Nintendo anyways to make, and they really hold the community together.
I actually will admit that yeah, I really dislike the menu icon for Snake Pass. Sitting next to Binding of Isaac and GoNNER's gorgeous artwork the Snake Pass icon just looks like some freemium mobile game, and the overly-childish eyes don't help.
It's not a huge deal, but it would be worth changing to something more aesthetically pleasing. Especially because I quite like the game.
Not bad, pretty standard stuff. "Guess what it does" might be pushing it though, that implies it actually does something we'd be excited about like themes, voice chat, fixing the credit card memory issue, etc.
@SanderEvers A few mb for millions of people adds up, but it isn't prohibitive. A few mb is fair when you're paying twenty bucks a year. Hell, services like Google Play or Steam already cover this for free. And yeah, he's not gonna pull the trigger himself but it's still a service I would expect.
It seems unlikely that Game Freak would pump out a third adventure in Alola so quickly. Probably a mistake, or just using the code name to represent whatever the real project is.
I'm not sure they do hear the message. If we're paying for online, cloud saving seems like a basic feature of that. I mean, it's not like save games require much space anyways.
Huh. This looks pretty fun and energetic, though I still think I'd rather be playing with a purely Mushroom Kingdom Cast. The Rabbids aren't terrible, I don't even mind them in short doses but I find after a short while they become minion levels of irritating.
Looks pretty fun, but the Skylanders-like peripheral system is a dealbreaker for me. If it's fully playable without those I might buy it, but I don't plan on building a collection of Starlink pieces unless the early reviews are insane.
This sounds amazing, but also has me kind of scoffing. "It wont' matter which console you're on, unless if it's the PS4 which will have to wait, or the Wii U or Vita, pfft, get real."
@easygoingthief You might not have gotten it to download. Go to the eshop, then hit redownloadable software. If it isn't there, launch the game and try to use it. When it gives you the trial pop up hit B, then try again. The most it ever gave me was three times, just a, b, a, b, a, b, a. It's a pain, but hopefully the bug will be fixed soon.
But honestly I still use my 3DS a fair bit so I'm happy, though it's a shame to not have any virtual console games on the Switch yet. That system could really use a few.
Seems like they've been trying to heat up for a competitive market over this past console cycle. Mariokart 8 introduced the music box to deter blue shells, Splatoon broke off into a ranked mode where strategy played a greater role and Sm4sh eliminated tripping and did what it could to restrict the random chance. I expect Arms to be following in that tradition.
@easygoingthief I've gotten that bug. I just back out and try again and it always works. It's a weird bug, but in no way stops me from using the texture packs. It just delays me a little.
