I still wish for an adults only tag. Once the player's account has been verified as an adult they could have the option to just dive in without restrictions.
I'm kind of dreading the launch of this service. Disney has acquired a frightening amount of media now, and it's starting to grow out of control. I suspect their methods of competing won't be very consumer-friendly.
@MrGawain Publishers are weirdly terrible at discounting DLC for sales. Most of the Ubisoft games I've played have been bought on sale for cheap, but have DLC more than twice the cost of the game itself. With Ubisoft you pretty much buy the gold edition and have the DLC or never play it at all; there's no playing the game once and deciding you like it enough to want more.
I would be able to jive with the stance of maybe regulating the microtransactions in freemium games or limiting how they advertise to kids but the sentence "Where is the benefit of having it in your household?" makes it pretty clear from the get-go that he doesn't know what he's talking about, just that the kids keep playing the game.
Curious now, though I can't say a 720p screen is going to be great in VR. I've used Google Cardboard which is basically this same thing before and while it's fun for a few minutes it just isn't a servicable VR experience for more than a few minutes.
I personally love Punch Out but that was the last really notable NES game I wanted to play. Still waiting on SNES games for this to stop feeling like a gyp. At least Twitch Prime is covering my next year.
Twitter shenanigans aside I don't care for the precedent it sets for future creators, that a person's name can be removed from their art if the publisher they sell it to dislikes them. If little kids are prowling around twitter they're already going to see a storm of politics with or without Notch around.
Obviously, he still appears in the credits, but this was still the main way he was credited to anyone playing the game. It's not like most players ever see those credits anyways.
@Azikira Pretty sure crossplay is still up, it's just random matchmaking. So long as they're your friends you should have no trouble playing with them.
Good. Pocket Camp was cute at first but the pressure on FOMA and pointless furniture hoarding has turned it into a thoroughly unpleasant waste of time. Every time I think about playing it I remember that server shutdown day is on the way.
They're thinking long-term here. Good. I would happily pay a couple of bucks once a month or so on a game like Heroes, but as is the monetization is targeted at Whale players. I would much rather pay a moderate amount regularly, like with the Fortnite battle pass.
What's with all of these sales on the previous gen systems? This is just bizarre. Two years into the PS4's lifetime that thing had sales on PS4 games, not just a bunch of links to the PS3 store. By all means, have 3DS and Wii U sales but at least put a few titles on sale for the Switch too.
@JR150 My Persona-Fanboy friend has let me know that Atlus has a long and stupid history of re-releasing the titles with small revisions. S is expected to basically be the GOTY edition, but with some extra story added into the middle of it for those few players eager to play a 120 hour campaign again just to get to the 5 hours of new content. P5 is a fantastic game but I wouldn't trip over myself to buy a new version of it like, a year or two after the original.
The unlockable pack makes sense because it wasn't actual content. You just paid two bucks and it unlocked everything. It was pretty much a paid cheat. The bloodsucker pack is a little fishier, I think. The perk it gave was admittedly really OP, but the costumes and stuff could probably still work. Frankly, I would rather they just include it in full. It's already Saints Row 3, it's not exactly a competitive game.
@Noonch Is that for real? That seems kinda weird, especially if there's crossplay happening. If someone with 60fps witnesses a 30FPS person firing at half speed wouldn't that complicate things a bit?
I'd be very interested in this game if it can be played offline, but otherwise will probably skip it. This is the type of game I mainly play on the bus or when I'm out.
I would be extremely down with this. I've been regularly playing Minecraft with an Xbone friend and at this point the more collaboration between Nintendo and Sony the better. I would very much like to be able to tie my Switch to a microsoft account and bring over some of the less resource-intensive games from the app store.
Well that's dissapointing. I understand not doing them one by one but once they're all out I think it'd be worth hiring one writer and two VAs for an hour in the recording booth.
This seems like a perfect pick for mobile, provided it has offline play. This is the kind of thing I like to play on the bus, out and about, not so much when I'm at home on wifi, nor something I'd be looking at data for.
I love having a cheap alternative out there. The 3DS is still easier to pop out of my pocket for a few minutes on the bus than the Switch ever will be. They're very different kinds of handheld systems with very different appeals. I'm quite happy with both, though I am hesitant to pay full price for any new 3DS games now.
Quite surprised they're doing so well with Stardew Valley on the same platform at a lower price and the original dev team gone. Not saying another team can't make Harvest Moon great but this was a title I kind of anticipated being a flop.
Once again, our "ultimate" game is becoming less and less complete as content gets seperated for DLC. I'd still be interested in some cosmetic DLC (even though it should probably have been included in the 110 CAD package we already bought) but I would hope for at least full reskins of fighters, not just mii costumes.
I've gotten Facebook ads for crap mobile games with generic anime titty characters on them but cartoon meat butts cross the line apparently. Eh, it's FB.
Nice to see this happening. It makes me hope Nintendo will one day take a page from Valve's book and actually offer digital refunds. I would be much more confident preordering games if I knew I had the option to return them should they be crap on launch day.
While it does suck that they're canning these items that people seem to really want, if this is why they've been holding out on retro titles in the eshop then I'm happy to buy them there instead. Switch Online kinda works too, though I'd much rather just buy a game than have to hope it comes on so I can borrow it from my Switch overlords.
Quite a lot of downtime, but hopefully it'll at least fix the smash online. Splatoon 2 still needs dedicated servers too. It's their big first-party competitive online game, only makes sense. At least Smash is made for couch multiplayer.
The game still feels a bit light on content, but it's nice to see they've done so much to support it and given it a stronger postgame. I got Marx, so I'm happy.
I can't blame Epic for this, it's 100% Sony's fault. I'm in no rush though, I didn't have much on my old playstation account anyways, just a few exclusives. Hoping Sony gets as much crap for their behaviour this year as possible.
Perfect example of the normie audience not understanding they need to pay a stupid premium to play online. Take notes, Nintendo. Regular people buy online games expecting to play them online.
I enjoyed this game plenty and have it on a few systems now, probably not gonna drop much cash on it here though. It seems a little arrogant to collect the DLC (which there was far too much of in the first place) and act like we're somehow getting more out of it. The "full package" is what the game always should have been, and regularly goes on sale on other systems for six bucks.
I appreciate these new costumes but the 8-bit outfit is a little disappointing. It's such a cool idea but I assumed it would change sprites based on if you were running, idling or jumping. Seems pretty doable to me but what we got is still cool. Not as cool as the 64 skin though. Hoping we'll get more costumes like this.
Big N is the ones forcing players to buy toys they don't want to get Mew so I don't think people will feel too bad about cheating him in. I don't use this thing myself but it's hard to say someone should just go out there and catch something you can't catch.
Hoping Let's Go will get some of this love. It's an interesting game but the Kanto titles are pretty short by modern standards and I think it's going to need all the postgame it can get to stay interesting, especially for people who bought the 65 CAD ball.
Honestly, I'm not sure it's good that the BOTW DLC has done "exceptionally well" given how underwhelming it was. I would hope Nintendo stay hungry and ambitious rather than realizing they can coast on the bare minimum.
@Rayquaza2510 That's super insidious. I'm skipping the stupid ball for now. It's a cute concept but here in Canada it's 65 dollars before tax (I know our dollar sucks but that's still nuts even with that factored in).
I'd totally buy it for like twenty, but they felt the need to make it some super complex expensive toy and now it's firmly outside of the price range for the average player. I would kind of get it if it was going to be compatible with the next games too, but as of now, it feels like they realized last minute that it wouldn't sell and crammed Mew in there to help it.
This really bugged me. I came close to passing on the game entirely because of it, but ultimately I've decided to just trade someone for a mew to beat the trainer and then trade it back. Sooner or later they'll give one out in mystery gift again. Still, being unable to import pokemon through bank is really crappy. Looking forward to the real gen 8 in 2019, but I'll treat this as a more casual game for now.
@alpha5099 I can't speak for one, but 5 tells its own story. There are references to the original in lore and stuff, but as far as I've gotten I've not been playing characters from the first game or continuing plot threads from previous entries. It seems pretty happy to do its own thing.
