Re: Soapbox: Monster Hunter World Has Claimed Its Prize, But Capcom Shouldn't Forget Nintendo

MourningBrew

Eh, I just sort of stopped caring when it wasn't available on Switch. I've never been super into the game, but it's always seemed to me like one of those super time consuming games that you need to be able to sink grinding time into, and I usually restrict those to handheld. Gonna pass for now, I might pick up a Switch port if it drops. In the meantime I'm keeping my PS4 to short and sweet titles with big spectacle that the Switch can't play.

Re: Soapbox: Miitomo's Days Are Numbered, But Its Death Was Written In The Stars From The Start

MourningBrew

I've always liked Miis as a bridge between the player's real world identity and a universal in-game avatar. For casual games that aren't dependant on a consistent world (ex: Animal Crossing, Mariokart, etc) they're a perfect fit. The idea of having a consistent avatar to take into all kinds of games when you play is appealing, though I do feel they should have added more customization features as time went on. Maybe some clothing outside of miitomo too, and people would have cared more.

Re: Miitomo Meets Its End On 9th May

MourningBrew

Proftiable or no, this is really sticking it to the people who spent actual money on outfits, posters etc. Within the game. I spent a total of like, four bucks and a ton of My Nintendo coins. I'm sure there are people out there who paid more. Only giving us like, 2-3 years of service for a game that pushes people to pay real money to invest in in-game items feels pretty scummy for Nintendo. I feel like it deserved a few more years, even as a ghost town.

Re: Mighty Gunvolt Burst Gets Three New DLC Characters Tomorrow

MourningBrew

I enjoyed this game a lot, though I'll admit I don't recognize any of these characters which doesn't exactly get me hyped up. I'd like to play Gal Gun at some point though, waiting on a Switch port for now. Don't see the point in a mighty number 9 character though, I know it's technically a crossover game but Beck always felt like he was just in it to be there anyways.

Re: ARMS Version 5.0 Is The Last Content Update The Game Will Recieve

MourningBrew

Shame. I would hope it gets some more expansion content at some point in the future, even if it's not currently being planned or developed. That said, as is it's a pretty sweet fighting game with a ton of fresh ideas, albeit with a light single player experience and a few characters who are less than, well... Memorable. I mean, I can't say Spring Man or Master Mummy are really memorable Nintendo faces...

Re: VS. Super Mario Bros. is Jumping Onto the Switch eShop Next Week

MourningBrew

I'd totally jump on this for the novelty for a buck or two, but knowing Nintendo they'll crank the price up too high again. Retro games are great and all, but not all of them really hold attention for too long anymore and a lot of them can just be emulated.

Not saying piracy is awesome or anything, but in the decades without these games a lot of us have just played them through emulators. I wouldn't pirate a game I can buy but for the last few years nobody WAS able to buy this.

Re: Don't Buy Monopoly On Switch, Unless You Like Waiting

MourningBrew

@Rayquaza2510 I'm aware of that, but it doesn't make it okay. Rushing a game to release and then packing the fixes into a day one patch might be more efficient but evidently the customer still has issues with it because we're always here talking about it. Old way was you finish the game, then you ship it.

Day one DLC on the other hand, I'm totally cool with. That's new content, so I say bring it on.

Re: Review: Batman - The Telltale Series (Switch)

MourningBrew

I actually played this one on PS4 and it had huge technical issues there too. I liked the game and I've just bought Season 2 to see where it goes, but it still had slowdown, glitches and a recurring error where the game crashes after each episode's credits on a PS4 Pro.

Re: Don't Buy Monopoly On Switch, Unless You Like Waiting

MourningBrew

@Jop You can, but there's less eye-contact, direct interaction, etc. I've noticed that for awhile now. Tabletop games are generally inferior, but they still have a place because they can facilitate conversation so well. That, and I find people who aren't game-savvy are often very resistant even to basic party games. It's a small sample size of friends though, so maybe most people are more eager to explore the medium.

Re: Don't Buy Monopoly On Switch, Unless You Like Waiting

MourningBrew

@HydroTendonMan and @Rayquaza2510 I've heard that the reason is because they're rushed, so the fixes have to be developed after the game ships and added as a patch later. That said, it's super sloppy and it means the people who buy on day one get punished with a buggy unfinished game for supporting the publisher.

Re: Don't Buy Monopoly On Switch, Unless You Like Waiting

MourningBrew

@CCore28 It's really pushing it too, seeing how much harder it is to gather people around a video-game board game than a physical one.

"Hey, wanna play monopoly?"

"Yeah sure."

"Cool. Lemme get the switch hooked up, and everyone pick a joy-con."

"What?"

"Yeah, it's a video game now. That way we don't need to sit at a table and talk to eachother."

"Oh."

Re: Detective Pikachu Movie Will Start Filming In London In January

MourningBrew

@Kayfios That wasn't really my point. Kids generally like what's advertised to them, but that doesn't mean all of their entertainment is created equally. Shark Tale and Monsters Vs. Aliens were both movies I saw as a kid. As a kid, they were fine. As an adult, I don't look back on them with the same fondness I have for say, Shrek, Finding Nemo, etc.

I'm just saying that this guy's track record indicates this is going to be a bland, forgettable miscarriage of a movie and I hope I'm wrong about that because frankly I find the idea of it hilarious.

Re: Review: Infinite Minigolf (Switch eShop)

@gatorboi352 I dunno, I kinda like the joy cons. I use the pro most of the time, but that's just because I'm used to it. It's not like the gamepad where it's huge and clunky, a few joy cons in a grip are still perfectly nice to use, at least as fine as a Dualshock 4.
