@LUIGITORNADO Children? Age isn't super obvious with anime usually, but I didn't assume they were children. Not sure how many kids are "plagued by hallucinations of [their] past lover[s]".
Were it a man and woman I can't imagine you would be this concerned about your niece glancing at your phone and seeing a thumbnail of them kissing. You might need to set the phone down so you're ready to cover her eyes, lest her parents share a peck.
@Phostachio It wasn't a bad idea, but it absolutely was them locking players into a subscription model. Cloud storage is not expensive, and Pokemon do not take up much memory. 5 bucks a year to store a few mb of data at the most wasn't actually a steal. It was just cheap enough for people to shrug off. If I charge you three bucks for a breath mint you can justify it by saying it's not much money, but that doesn't mean I'm not getting way more out of the deal than I'm providing.
Looking forward to trying out some of the missions down the line. It's nice to have these little PVE areas to give new players a chance to get comfortable.
@Spudtendo Oh yeah, gen 6 was definitely the beginning. It was the first time a gen felt underwhelming, relied on the genwunner nostalgia and tried to swing a subscription service. That said, it was nowhere near this bad, and when ORAS came out and was pretty good I sort of forgot about X and Y.
@Dwarfette A point comes where people just give up and either buy it on another console, watch a stream or even just pirate it in some cases. Atlus are all about testing the patience of their customers. Maybe one day, just maybe, I can play that game that got recommended to me sometime in 2017 on my preferred platform. Only if I pray hard enough, though.
Atlus' relationship with their fans has always been bizarre. I have a friend who has been a superfan of theirs for years and hearing him describe the way they milk enthusiasm and wring fans out for cash as if it's all perfectly normal kind of blows me away. I would hate to be hanging on their every word like so many of their fans are, cuz this endless uncertainty and expectation of begging seem a bit much.
@Spudtendo Transferring pokemon has been a series staple since the beginning. These features have been stripped out of the games and sold back to the player as subscription services. Gen 4's bank was just a fifteen dollar download on the wii that acted as storage. Gen 5 just gave the player a ton of boxes in-game so they wouldn't need any more.
@miitomobenji Yep. The switch app is mostly just for transferring from game to game. Everything else happens in the mobile app. I know, it's a bit silly.
Allowing users to back up save data, especially when it's something they pay to do, is not a big decision to make. It should not even need to be considered. Let people back up their saves.
The eshop clutter has reached the point of being comparable to steam. I use Dekudeals now to browse for Switch games, and then when I find what I want to buy I just open the eshop and search for it by title. I'm perplexed that they still haven't put in any restrictions to keep developers from dumping asset flips on their platform for "19.99" and then eternally discounting them for half a cent.
Gotta love that they still kept a couple hundred in the back so they have leverage when they want to launch the second wave of paid dlc for an unfinished game.
I'm glad they're trying to keep the game alive, but this is giving me No Man's Sky flashbacks. The difference is that NMS updates were all free, because they understood that the goodwill would be tainted if they charged for it. The goodwill among the fanbase of updating this content cleanly with the entire dex would have outweighed two waves of paid DLC long-term.
It's perplexing to see these games release on Facebook rather than mobile. Presumably there were some Zuckerbucks for exclusivity involved, cuz' I can't imagine they thought it would be a better platform than the app and play stores.
@Godzil The way it works on PS4 is that it runs in the background so you can listen while playing games. If Switch was able to do that, which may be tough to swing, it would be very nice.
It'd be lovely to have some way to bring some cash over to a new run to try out that farm layout, like in Animal Crossing NL. As much as I love Stardew, the grind is a bit of a barrier for fresh runs. It's hard to go back to square one once you get used to Junimo automation.
Maybe it's a translation error. No way anyone looked at "So take good care of your old Pokemon, because perhaps you can travel with them again in the future." as a positive. They're determined to keep the core playerbase in gen 7.
We need a setting to hide these "The 3ds isn't getting new games but some people still like it" posts. It's a budget system with a huge library that fits in your pocket. Plenty of people are still buying it and enjoying it even though it's an older console. I find it fills a different need than the Switch does anyway, even if I generally prefer the Switch. I'm not worrying about when Doug Bowser or anyone else will officially declare my old system dead.
Typically game systems pretty much require a decent case if you want to toss them into a bag, especially if they don't have a clamshell design. I'm a little surprised this even needs to be said, but I suppose kids probably don't think twice about tossing it into a backpack and forgetting it's in there.
Forager shows promise and looks pretty solid, but as it is right now it's in desperate need of some of those updates on its roadmap. Right now it's borderline unplayable late-game because of all the noise. I'd be hesitant to drop cash until it's patched up.
Nice, but kinda lame they aren't doing anything for people who already bought them. Just some extra DLC or even freemium currency would help. Now people are going to be more hesitant to buy DLC from them in the future.
@Expa0 Given that it's a freemium game with twenty dollar skins people regularly invest in I doubt they could shut down any time soon without like, a year of warning.
God level clickbait here. It was a pretty cool event. I watched it on YouTube later but I was pleased to see that if you missed it and boot up the game you get your own little black hole which gradually sucks up the menu and everything while faking a connection error. It's a really well-put-together intermission between seasons.
Do we know what the price will be? This is the kind of thing I'd happily pick up as a budget title but probably won't be dropping sixty USD on anytime soon.
I rented the first one this week. It's mechanically fine, but really nothing special. I was pretty disappointed overall, but not surprised. The impact of the well-choreographed fights from the main series is pretty much lost when it's just two dudes wailing on each other in fairly repetitive fights. It's not awful or anything, but I persistently found myself thinking as I played that I would probably have a better time just re-watching the fights themselves.
This is a good idea, but they'll need to make sure there's still a way for players to play without them when they want to.The very premise of "100 people dumped on an island to fight it out" kinda falls apart when you don't know if you placed 30th or 50th because of all the bots in play.
This game isn't just bad to play (which it is, it's got poor controls and limited interaction) but it's downright gross with its microtransaction BS. Nintendo have usually handled mobile alright, but this game more than any other they've put out feels malicious as if it's solely out to take advantage of people with spending problems. I've lost some respect for their mobile division. FE Heroes walked the line and Animal Crossing was reasonable when it first released, but Mariokart Tour is just awful.
Not sure why they thought this would work well given how Mario Run went. That game was perfectly fair at ten bucks, but making it a subscription takes away a lot of the fun. Not every game needs a battle pass.
The Handsome Collection would be quite slick on Switch, assuming they could keep the frame rate up. Borderlands 2 is not a game I think I could enjoy with any sort of slowdown.
Nintendo needs some sort of a filter system to avoid exploitation of this. Lots of eshop games appear on the top of the sale section every day because they're discounted by upwards of 90%. Most of them were never meant to actually be sold at full price, they're just taking advantage of how Nintendo pushes sale items.
I dislike this. I'm not a fan of revising art after it's been released, especially in a way that effectively destroys the original. It's a small detail, but I'm still irked to see Nintendo plucking details out of a game post-release.
It remains to be seen how they'll do this, but I'm not really a fan. Once a month at least means you'll get SOMEthing every once in awhile without fail. I can foresee a future where the libraries go unchanged for seasons at a time.
If it were switch-bound I would certainly hope it had cross-save, like what we saw with Fortnite. That means players don't have to choose one system to play on, they can just use the Switch for handheld and carry their purchases between systems.
@molliolli182 It's meant to be a budget machine, not superior to the main model. I wouldn't expect a 2DS to have a better battery than a new 3ds, but making some cheap improvements over the first model makes sense. The lite model isn't meant to replace a normal one in any way; it just happens to have newer tech in it which allows for slightly better battery life.
Pretty tired of all of these tabloid articles advertising plastic tumours I can let protrude from my system to help it connect to wireless headphones. These dongles are impractical for a handheld console and generally I find it would be more work bringing the dongle along with the switch in its case (which won't have space for it) than just tossing an extra pair of earbuds in my bag and calling it a day.
The lack of bluetooth support is a really weird shortcoming for the Switch, but no cheap third party accessory is really gonna fix it for me.
This seems like a really clever advertisment. For many normies like myself, building a PC is a pretty daunting task. If I had a fun and risk-free way to experiment with it and learn how it works I'd be way more likely to buy parts from these manufacturers and throw one together. I have been putting it off for at least a year now anyways, given that my PC is an ancient burning husk.
It seems weird to make this a limited time thing. It wasn't any super sweet deal or anything, but I still bought quite a few of these vouchers for the 60 dollar games I plan to buy at launch.

These articles are getting harder to differentiate from advertisements. I wouldn't expect an old N64 game to cost any more.
Re: Yuri Visual Novel SeaBed Comes To Switch Next Month With Two Brand New Scenes
Neat premise, character designs are pretty generic though and not a lot really jumps out.
