Re: Yuri Visual Novel SeaBed Comes To Switch Next Month With Two Brand New Scenes

@LUIGITORNADO Children? Age isn't super obvious with anime usually, but I didn't assume they were children. Not sure how many kids are "plagued by hallucinations of [their] past lover[s]".

Were it a man and woman I can't imagine you would be this concerned about your niece glancing at your phone and seeing a thumbnail of them kissing. You might need to set the phone down so you're ready to cover her eyes, lest her parents share a peck.

Re: Poll: After 24 Hours, How Are You Getting On With Pokémon HOME?

MourningBrew

@Phostachio It wasn't a bad idea, but it absolutely was them locking players into a subscription model. Cloud storage is not expensive, and Pokemon do not take up much memory. 5 bucks a year to store a few mb of data at the most wasn't actually a steal. It was just cheap enough for people to shrug off. If I charge you three bucks for a breath mint you can justify it by saying it's not much money, but that doesn't mean I'm not getting way more out of the deal than I'm providing.

Re: Atlus Understands The Desire For A Persona 5 Switch Port, Tells Fans To Remain Hopeful

MourningBrew

Atlus' relationship with their fans has always been bizarre. I have a friend who has been a superfan of theirs for years and hearing him describe the way they milk enthusiasm and wring fans out for cash as if it's all perfectly normal kind of blows me away. I would hate to be hanging on their every word like so many of their fans are, cuz this endless uncertainty and expectation of begging seem a bit much.

@Spudtendo Transferring pokemon has been a series staple since the beginning. These features have been stripped out of the games and sold back to the player as subscription services. Gen 4's bank was just a fifteen dollar download on the wii that acted as storage. Gen 5 just gave the player a ton of boxes in-game so they wouldn't need any more.

Re: 64 Games Are Currently Available For Less Than $1 On The Nintendo Switch eShop

MourningBrew

The eshop clutter has reached the point of being comparable to steam. I use Dekudeals now to browse for Switch games, and then when I find what I want to buy I just open the eshop and search for it by title. I'm perplexed that they still haven't put in any restrictions to keep developers from dumping asset flips on their platform for "19.99" and then eternally discounting them for half a cent.

Re: More Than 200 Old Pokémon Are Being Added To Sword And Shield's National Dex

MourningBrew

Gotta love that they still kept a couple hundred in the back so they have leverage when they want to launch the second wave of paid dlc for an unfinished game.

I'm glad they're trying to keep the game alive, but this is giving me No Man's Sky flashbacks. The difference is that NMS updates were all free, because they understood that the goodwill would be tainted if they charged for it. The goodwill among the fanbase of updating this content cleanly with the entire dex would have outweighed two waves of paid DLC long-term.

Re: Doug Bowser Refuses To Read The Last Rites For The Nintendo 3DS Just Yet

MourningBrew

We need a setting to hide these "The 3ds isn't getting new games but some people still like it" posts. It's a budget system with a huge library that fits in your pocket. Plenty of people are still buying it and enjoying it even though it's an older console. I find it fills a different need than the Switch does anyway, even if I generally prefer the Switch. I'm not worrying about when Doug Bowser or anyone else will officially declare my old system dead.

Re: And Just Like That, Fortnite Is No More

MourningBrew

God level clickbait here. It was a pretty cool event. I watched it on YouTube later but I was pleased to see that if you missed it and boot up the game you get your own little black hole which gradually sucks up the menu and everything while faking a connection error. It's a really well-put-together intermission between seasons.

Re: Bandai Namco Confirms My Hero One's Justice 2 For Nintendo Switch

MourningBrew

I rented the first one this week. It's mechanically fine, but really nothing special. I was pretty disappointed overall, but not surprised. The impact of the well-choreographed fights from the main series is pretty much lost when it's just two dudes wailing on each other in fairly repetitive fights. It's not awful or anything, but I persistently found myself thinking as I played that I would probably have a better time just re-watching the fights themselves.

Re: Review: Mario Kart Tour - Steer Around The Gacha For A Fun, Free Take On The Series

MourningBrew

This game isn't just bad to play (which it is, it's got poor controls and limited interaction) but it's downright gross with its microtransaction BS. Nintendo have usually handled mobile alright, but this game more than any other they've put out feels malicious as if it's solely out to take advantage of people with spending problems. I've lost some respect for their mobile division. FE Heroes walked the line and Animal Crossing was reasonable when it first released, but Mariokart Tour is just awful.

Re: This New Device Lets You Use Airpods And Other Bluetooth Headphones With Your Switch

MourningBrew

Pretty tired of all of these tabloid articles advertising plastic tumours I can let protrude from my system to help it connect to wireless headphones. These dongles are impractical for a handheld console and generally I find it would be more work bringing the dongle along with the switch in its case (which won't have space for it) than just tossing an extra pair of earbuds in my bag and calling it a day.

The lack of bluetooth support is a really weird shortcoming for the Switch, but no cheap third party accessory is really gonna fix it for me.

Re: Join The PC Master Race On Your Nintendo Switch With PC Building Simulator

MourningBrew

This seems like a really clever advertisment. For many normies like myself, building a PC is a pretty daunting task. If I had a fun and risk-free way to experiment with it and learn how it works I'd be way more likely to buy parts from these manufacturers and throw one together. I have been putting it off for at least a year now anyways, given that my PC is an ancient burning husk.
