Re: Former Nintendo Execs Fear We Might Be Waiting A While For A 3D Mario On Switch 2, Thanks To Donkey Kong

MoonKnight7

Lots of fill in the blanks happening with this hot take, first, we don’t know for sure who is making Bananza, and we don’t know who will make a new 3D Mario either. Maybe a different team is making something, even though it’s generally been EPD. Maybe another team is helping development. I cannot ever imagine, the switch 2 is ONLY going to get a 3D Mario game 4 or 5 years from now. Getting kinda tired of their “hot takes”, they’ve been out of the game for quite some time, so it’s all just pure speculation.

Re: Ex-Nintendo Duo Unsure Mario Kart 9 Will Be An Instant "Slam Dunk" For Switch 2

MoonKnight7

You can’t just stick with Mario Kart 8 forever, it’s already kinda crazy the Switch, Nintendo’s best selling home console, never had a proper game, just the Wii U port. Sure they added more courses but that doesn’t really count as a new game either.

Is it going to sell 75 million? Probably not, but, I dunno, who cares?? I can’t think of a better way to launch a console than with a new Mario Kart.

Re: Opinion: With Forecasts Slashed (Again), Absolutely Everyone's Antsy For Switch 2 ASAP

MoonKnight7

The logical move to me after switch 2 is out, is to price cut the original switch, and do some Nintendo selects for 20 bucks, like Mario Kart, Odyssey and Super Mario Party. It might squeeze some more legs out of the switch, but yeah, its course is nearly done. Whether first or second in lifetime sales, not a bad run for something that came after Nintendo's worst selling console, not counting Virtual boy of course.

Re: Random: Xbox Gets Its Own Shameful 'Mario Strikers' Knock-Off

MoonKnight7

Setting aside the blatant Mario rip off going on here. That’s some of the worst use of AI I’ve ever seen. The soccer players on the left are each missing a leg, various hands and feet are missing, the balls don’t look right with their patterns, and what’s with the strange rubber band arm in the corner? No matter how much of a budget you have, you can pay a couple hundred bucks and pay a real artist and get something that’s not embarrassing. Pay people, not AI, you’ll sleep better at night.

Re: Aspyr's Next Star Wars Remaster Is Now Available To Pre-Order On The eShop

MoonKnight7

@Mario_maniac

I’m with you , it wasn’t the “best” Star Wars game, but it was a “good” Star Wars game, and one I always went back to on my PS1. This was one of those games I’d constantly replay cause it was just mindless fun. I’m looking forward to picking it up.

Also, so sorry to hear about your brother passing, I hope this re-release gives you some fond memories.

Re: Reaction: A Direct That Delivered, And Shows That Switch Still Has Plenty Of Pep

MoonKnight7

I gotta say, this Direct really, really surprised me, especially because the last Direct was a little underwhelming (not that that’s bad). The Direct prior really seemed like the Switch was predictably winding down, which is certainly ok, given how long it’s been around. But when a franchise I thought had been dead for almost 10 years popped up like a spring daisy, I began to say to myself, wait, this might actually be a great Direct. And it was! Really great in fact! Brand new Mario & Luigi, Mario Party, brand new Zelda starring Zelda, Prime 4 showing its still alive and kicking, were all big hitters. And lots of great small stuff like Metal Slug (with a stealth launch!), Darkest Dungeon 2, Dragon Quest, a hobbit animal crossing (lmao, I think that’s just awesome).

Lots of great stuff and I genuinely was shocked to see how much gas was still in the tank. Hey… maybe that record is in reach as best selling console of all time. Regardless, it’s gonna be close!

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want To Reuse Your Joy-Con On 'Switch 2'?

MoonKnight7

If they can be reused, I’ll probably keep 2 sets that don’t drift (yet), only to have on hand when friends come over and we want to play Mario Kart. But in all honesty, the Joy Cons are my least favorite Nintendo controller. The lack of a proper D pad, drift and losing connection is downright maddening. Really hoping they learned good lessons for Switch 2.

Re: GameStop Hit By Layoffs As Analyst Predicts 'Unsustainable' Sales Decline

MoonKnight7

I haven’t been to GameStop in years. The last straw for me was when I preordered Fire Emblem Awakening. The day it came out, I was at work and they called me and asked if they could sell my copy to a walk in customer, to which I replied, “um no, I’m at work, and will pick it up around 6pm” I was so mad about the audacity of asking that on the day it came out, just cause I wasn’t there when the store opened, I guess. I’ve heard worse stories where they don’t even ask and just sell the preorders anyway, so I guess I should count my blessings.

After that I was pretty much done with them. I am very fortunate that a retro game store opened up in town that sells anything from Atari, to current games. They’re great to their staff and nice to the customers, and they don’t screw you over if you sell something.

Re: Soapbox: It Feels Like Everyone Forgot The Best Switch RPG Of The Year

MoonKnight7

I absolutely adored this game. The stories were much better this time around. But it’s the music that always gets me with these games. The Battle 1 theme was so good, sometimes I’d just go to battle and let the music play.

The final boss was no joke either, definitely one of the longest and most difficult battles I’ve done in a game. But I beat it and loved every second of this game.

A crying shame that it wasn’t even nominated at the game awards for the music.

I highly recommend this if you’re into this kind of game

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Nintendo Direct, Then?

MoonKnight7

A good Direct. If I were to put a grade on it, I’d say a B-. It was solid, but it’s clear to me the Switch is winding down (and that’s ok). The best showcases I saw was the Peach Showtime, Mario vs DK and obviously Paper Mario, and some fun little additions like the Contra remake.

Re: Best Deals And Cheapest Games In The 3DS & Wii U eShop Sales

MoonKnight7

I picked up sonic 2, the 3D overhauled one. That, along with the 3D classic Kirby they did is a good way to get something that will probably never come back in this form. Once the shop closes, these games are just gone for good. And the Kirby one in particular is fantastic. They did some great 3D work with the sprites and pixel art.

I also picked up pocket jockey, crimson shroud, and a few of the old pokemon games, cause who knows when they’re coming back. And like many others have said, get the transporter and Pokémon bank if you want to move anything to Pokémon home.

A sad day, but an expected one. Happy gaming to you all.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Octopath Traveler II?

MoonKnight7

I pretty much agree with the review, it’s a 9/10 for me. More of the same, sure, but it has much better stories to tell than the first game. Amazing visuals, fantastic soundtrack (even better than the first!) and the gameplay is as good as ever, with some good tweaks to the formula. Great game, and I can’t put it down.

Re: Octopath Traveler Has Now Sold Over 3 Million Units Physically And Digitally

MoonKnight7

I know some people felt this game was a little flat, but I absolutely loved it. Sure it was a bit talky but, it has such an impressive style and fun battle system that I loved experimenting with. Plus, as I’ve mentioned many times, it may be my favorite soundtrack in a video game. I still play it to this day, especially the battle themes. I can’t wait for part 2.
