Re: Feature: What's Your Most Treasured Club Nintendo Possession?

MoonKnight7

My most prized collectible is a Japanese Game & Watch when I visited Japan for work reasons. It was in this little game store, and we could barely understand each other, but we eventually got there lol.

It sits in my gaming cabinet with all my other Nintendo things, like my Splatune soundtrack and amiibos.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Replay Games?

MoonKnight7

Sometimes I do. I have replayed some Nintendo games like Pikmin, Zelda and Mario; and from Sony, both The Last of Us games (working on part 2 again for the second time). It usually is games I absolutely love.

That said, it’s usually shorter games that I’ll replay. It would be difficult for me to play through a game like Skyrim, or Witcher 3 again — just cause there’s just so much content and story to get through. They are wonderful games though.

Re: Soapbox: After 17 Years, Monster Hunter Rise Finally Made Me Kind Of Competent

MoonKnight7

I can relate to a degree, though I never really went online much in the past entries so I guess I saved myself the embarrassment lol. I woulda been trash in the older games.

But with Rise, I’ve really found my groove with monster Hunter for the first time. I just felt like the older games were a chore even though I liked the overall concept, and I’d fall off after a few hours.

But the QoL improvements just make this game get to the fights much faster, and boy do I appreciate it. The fact that some things get auto crafted, I can go for a ride, climb walls, know where the monsters are, just improved almost all of my previous gripes.

If you’re into that kind of stuff from the old games, I understand the complaints, but to me they were just a chore half the time — just too much to keep track of. This game gets you into the action so much faster, and now I’m a better hunter because of it. Love this game.

Re: Review: PAC-MAN 99 - The BR Formula Freshens Up Another Timeless Classic

I started playing this yesterday, and man, is it fun. I do wish it gave a little more insights into how to play the game strategically. For instance, I had no idea eating all the pellets on the board gave you a speed boost. I only learned this by reading this review.

Regardless, it’s a great pick up and play game — perfect for handheld on your couch.

Re: Soapbox: Monster Hunter Rise Is The Perfect Hybrid Game

MoonKnight7

Welcome back Mr. Whitehead.

I really love it so far. Far too often with these games, I fell off after a few hours, but this one has me hooked. Primarily because it’s just so much faster and easier to get around. Riding and the wire bugs make it a breeze to get around so I’m really, really enjoying it. The older games just felt like a slow slog to me. Online has been very easy to join too.

You’re very welcome, I hope you enjoy the site, I’ve been around for a few years and most of the people on here have good intentions. As it’s grown, there’s definitely been more troll accounts, but you’ll have this anywhere. Just ignore them, most of them go away when no one pays attention to them.

I’ve had good discussions with people on here, even if we walked away not agreeing. Different perspectives are not a bad thing, and I’m wiser because of it. See you around the site!

@samuraicop

I thought the updates were going to be free, did I miss something? I know you could buy cosmetics and stuff but I was of the understanding that the post game content was going to be free.

Also best of luck with your work situation. I got laid off for a while and it was a difficult time. I hope things turn around for you soon, hang in there.

Tom is a very talented writer. His articles had a smart and witty tone to them. You could just tell that he enjoyed what he did, it showed in the writing. And his tenure even went through the dreaded Wii U days, so it wasn’t even cheery news, lol. So I’m excited to see him write about more prosperous days for Nintendo.

Excited to see the new team too, lots of talent all around.

Also welcome to NL!

Re: Former Nintendo Of America President Reggie To Step Down From GameStop's Board Of Directors

MoonKnight7

I used to go to GameStop all the time, but I haven’t been there in years now. There’s just absolutely no incentive to go to GameStop anymore. Their deals, if you can even call them that, are pitiful, and their online infrastructure is just awful. I tried to get new joy cons shipped to my house cause of the pandemic, I ordered them, then ten minutes later, I get an email that my order was cancelled, lmao. If they were out of stock, why could I order them to begin with??

I ended up ordering from Target, got free shipping, and got them in two days. And that was my absolute last interaction with GameStop. Just no incentive at all to go there anymore.

Re: Poll: Are You Still Playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons A Year Later?

MoonKnight7

This game is very special to me. It was a one in a million chance, that it came at the exact right moment. Everything was shut down, I was laid off (I’m back now, thank goodness — I hope everyone else can get back to normal too), and terrible news constantly, but Animal Crossing gave some relief and comfort.

I’m still playing. Not every day, but a few times a week, usually. I love all kinds of games, action, puzzles, multiplayer, horror — but sometimes it’s just nice to plant flowers and listen to how Kid Cat is working out today.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Backing Down On Its Decision To Pull Mario Products From Stores This Month

MoonKnight7

This is very anti consumer. What happens if someone gets a switch this Christmas?? We all know the price of these physical copies are going to be insanely high. Worse yet, Mario all stars easily could have been an evergreen title going forward.

Instead, nintendo is pulling the plug for no other reason than to create a scarce market. It’s exactly the same crap that Disney used to pull with the Disney Vault.

Re: Civilization VI's Next Free Update Introduces A 'Barbarian Clans' Mode

@Kidfunkadelic83

Yeah, it’s definitely... a lot. There’s tons, and tons of layers and mechanics. When I first played it I got trounced cause I didn’t know what I was really doing. But then it just clicked after 2 or 3 sessions.

The primary goal is to win with one of four ways, conquest, science, culture, or religion.

When you’re first starting though, just see what starts to play out to see what your best route may be. Let’s say you wanna go for a science win, definitely go full throttle on making special buildings, and wonders that benefit that, but also try to play defense with the other leaders if they start winning with one of the other ways. You wanna try to prolong their progress as long as possible while you try to make your own progress.

Also, keep those builders busy. Make lots of farms and mining tiles so that it helps your city grow better and faster. There’s also a mode where you can have an “advisor” who helps pick out the next course of action you should maybe focus on next.

Best of luck, keep trying, it’s very fun once it clicks.

Re: Animal Crossing Leads Switch Software Sales With 19.4 Million Copies Sold In The Last 9 Months

@rjejr

No I haven’t yet, but I do want to get to it soon. How was it? Like most of us, I have so many games in my backlog. I played Xenoblade on 3DS, and while I appreciated the effort, it just didn’t look so good on there. So I’m really looking forward to playing with the sharper graphics.

Haha Nopon are definitely better than Rabbids. There’s just something about Rabbids that I just don’t trust when they’re using their weapons haha.
