Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of DOOM Eternal On Switch

MoonKnight7

Given that this is a brand new game, with more complexity, I was actually expecting this conversion to be worse than Doom 2016 and Wolfenstien. But to my surprise, it seems like their best one to date. There really are some great, great ports to Switch, and not just from Panic Button. So it’s awesome to see these conversions nearly being the best they can be on the limited hardware.

It’s too bad the physical game got cancelled, but for what we have, this looks great.

Re: Nintendo Is Facing Another Class Action Lawsuit For Joy-Con Drift

@Park_Triolo

Your dad probably can beat up my dad, he has a bad back unfortunately, but let’s not bring our fathers into this!

“The problem can't be that big... and none of my friends have any issues, so really, I don't understand...”

I never said you denied the problem, since you actually admitted you, yourself had to swap sticks on your joy-con. But you certainly did downplay it. If it was a minor problem it wouldn’t be so widespread, to the point that there’s multiple lawsuits, and NoA is fixing them for free.

Also:

“Fact is I first experienced problems with my Joycons after 2 years of heavy use and the same goes for my friends with small variations.“

You really need to clarify this cause, if they did experience drift, it completely contradicts your first comment, when you said “none of your friends”.

Re: Control's eShop Page Reminds Us About Harsh Realities Of A Cloud-Based Future

MoonKnight7

Apparently, I hit a nerve yesterday when I said either don’t port it, or do it properly. But this is precisely why I want no part of a cloud gaming future.

The major gaming companies would love nothing more than to just drop a game on a server, charge you for it, then pull the plug whenever they feel like it. It is a further erosion of customer control. At least with a digital game, you likely have a couple of years to redownload it, so long as there’s an active digital shop.

The article yesterday said “this is the only way to get Control on Switch”, and while that may be true; a probable, more truthful answer to that is likely, “we won’t spend the time and resources to port it on a console that won’t sell as well.”

It’s not even all that cheap either, it’s $40 for a long term rental, I dunno, I just feel like that’s pretty expensive for something you can’t even keep.

Re: The Original Fire Emblem Is Coming To The West For The First Time Ever On Switch

MoonKnight7

So, I love that this is being localized and rereleased. I really hope that Nintendo keeps digging and giving us old classics that most people have never played.

That said, two obvious issues. One, the digital release is even limited, just like Mario 3D All Stars. It’s almost maddening. What happens if someone gets a Switch in April, oh well I guess you can’t play it for “reasons.” It’s limited a availability just for the sake of it, and that BS.

Second, and less important I suppose, but the limited edition does not have a game cart which I think is kinda weird. You spend all this time and resources, on an art book, a replica NES cart, map, etc, yet the only thing that’s completely digital, is the game itself. I dunno, it just seems like the easiest thing to make physical isn’t there. It couldn’t possibly cost that much to throw this on a 1 GB cart or something.

Re: Review: Hades - A Heavenly Trip Into Hell That's Utterly Essential For All Switch Owners

I picked this up last night and it’s incredible. I like it even more than Dead Cells, and I really liked that too. The writing, story, and artwork is top notch all around.

I love that the bosses remember your fights and slightly mock you cause you’re back for another round. It makes finally beating them much more satisfying.

I saw some complaints about it being 720p docked. Honestly, I really don’t see much of a downgrade, cause the line work and art style do well at hiding it. The text is still very legible too.

Pick this up, seriously, it’s worth every penny.

@hotgamer77

“Is THAT why Nintendo posted their first loss in April, 2012 from the Wii U that didn't even exist on store shelves for another 7 months, because 3DS kept them afloat?”

Hm, lets go back at what I said:

“ The 3DS had and has an incredible library, and was so integral to keeping Nintendo afloat while the Wii U struggled.”

I’m aware of what happened early on... But once Mario Kart 7, Zelda OoT, and Mario 3D Land came out, along with the price cut, the 3DS started to take off, soon after, “the Wii U struggled.”

Soooo, cool story I guess. If it had anything to do with what I said, it woulda been quite the zinger.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, A New Zelda Set 100 Years Before Breath Of The Wild

MoonKnight7

The pros: Interesting concept and very surprising that Nintendo allowed someone to essentially make a prequel to one of Nintendo’s most revered games. Also, neat that you can play as the champions, and the graphic style is retained.

The cons: it’s a koei Tecmo game, and Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition was a notably bad port. So bad, that it launched with portable mode being 1080p on a 720p screen. Glaring oversight, that tells me they rush things.

Hopefully they took better care here.

Re: Scalpers Are Already Listing The "Limited" Switch Release Super Mario 3D All-Stars

@Cool_Squirtle

Sure, I get that, but it’s Mario. It could clearly be an evergreen title for Nintendo. It’s basically what Disney did by bringing stuff out of the “vault” then putting it back in a month later. It’s just controlling it for the sake of it and it’s pretty anti-consumer. Especially considering that some just don’t have the cash right now cause of the pandemic
