Re: Pre-Orders For Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Open Now (US)

MoonKnight7

I was on the site 3 minutes after the news that preorders were live and I got a whole range of problems, logged me out, said my limit was reached, even though I hadn’t added anything yet, got put in a waiting room, then you couldn’t log back in at all. Man, what a disaster this was.

I never got one, don’t expect I will at this point.

Re: Former Joy-Con Drift Repairs Supervisor Says Work Volume Was "Very Stressful"

@-wc-

Same for me. I’ve had Nintendo and Sony consoles ever since the SNES and PS1, and I never, ever had a problem with sticks. I have 4 pairs of Joy Cons, and every single one of them has had drift, some of them, multiple times too. Nintendo’s slow pace at acknowledging the problem, while they piled up in repair shops, to the point they needed more workspaces, is just madness.

As far as what’s happening, as I understand it, the sticks that they used wear down on a graphite plate that rubs off and creates debris. This then causes incorrect or random inputs. This was what I read a while ago though so if someone knows more, or better info, feel free to correct me.

Re: Star Fox Character Designer Wants Nintendo To Port The Wii U Entry To Switch

MoonKnight7

The game was… ok. Star Fox was the first game I thought of when the Wii U came out with the game pad. However, the game was just ahead of its time. The games not bad, it’s just not really worth revisiting. The levels are just very sparse and empty cause the game had to draw two frames, on the game pad and the tv, instead of just one. There was only so much they could do with it. I just feel there’s better games out there that could get sequels or remasters.

Re: Random: It's The 10th Anniversary Of Resident Evil: Revelaitons

This was one of my favorite third party games on 3DS. The 3D was actually really well done; not only could you adjust it on the 3DS itself, but you could adjust it further in the game settings too. Great atmosphere, great level designs, great combat, and a decent story, even if it gets kinda dumb at the end.

I can’t believe this game is 10 years old. My god, where does the time go?

Re: Best Of 2021: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

MoonKnight7

I would say I was cautiously optimistic when it was announced. I thought merging handheld and home console was incredibly smart. Nintendo has always dominated in the handheld market, so it really just played to its strengths.

As far as games, or third party offerings, again I was cautiously optimistic. Granted, its still not quite there, but it’s better than where we were years ago. I know it was an old game by then, but getting Skyrim on the system early on doesn’t get enough credit. It was so cool being able to play that whenever I wanted, and it’s actually a pretty good port too.

I do think the Switch really, really needs some part quality improvements. The Joycons are still laughably bad. I will never understand why they won’t just bite the bullet and just “fix” the drifting problem. I’m not saying they need to go as far as recalling them, but it would be nice if I could go to a store and buy joycons that I know are solid, and likely won’t drift, or at least drift for a while. Their quiet “were looking into it” stance has been frustrating and maddening.

All in all, most of the criticisms in the article were fair, but Nintendo was able to overcome everything cause they just make really good games for the handheld market. Me personally, I love the switch, and I hope they keep going with a hybrid console.

Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?

MoonKnight7

For me, I did not like Skyward Sword at all. It wasn’t even the motion controls that bothered me, I just found the entire game incredibly boring. But hey, if it took Skyward Sword to get BotW, then I’m certainly ok with it happening.

Re: Metroid Dread Studio Hit With Allegations Of Poor Organisation And Management

MoonKnight7

As someone who came from an extremely toxic work environment myself, these issues are disappointing to hear. It took me years to find something better — and I finally have. It’s hard work, but it’s worthwhile work, and I have a great group of co workers, and decent bosses.

I can really relate to the “they know people, so they just stay quiet” bit. My old boss was not a nice person at all. And when I say not nice, he’s so petty and small, that if you asked him to be a reference, he’d torpedo you with a perspective employment opportunity, just because you left his “amazing business”. Therefore, I do not list him as a reference, I cannot take the chance, plus, I don’t need him anyway. The point here is, some people are terrible, and some really are as bad as they say.

Metroid Dread is amazing, but I hope that MS can figure out some better practices. Employees, no matter what the job is, deserve good conditions to work in. It’s really just that simple.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Shares Irritation At Speculation Over Bayonetta 3

MoonKnight7

@avictorao

I agree the same is true about Prime 4, but it’s more understandable cause Nintendo was picking up the pieces of their disastrous Federation Force game and wanted the fans to be excited, about something. So I get the reasoning there, even though it was flawed and the development started over. A shame it happened that way.

Agreed that Bayonetta 3 is just simply a case of announcing way too early, and we’ve seen absolutely nothing about it.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Nintendo Direct At E3 2021?

MoonKnight7

I voted a “B”. Very solid showing today. Metroid was a big win, and a great holdover while we wait for Prime 4. I loved Samus Returns, and there seems to be a lot of mechanics from that game.

Warioware! Love the series, so happy to see it back. And speaking of happy to see it back, Advance Wars! Wow, did not expect that.

Only downer was BotW 2 being 2022, but I honestly expected it. Covid was such a challenge for everyone and I’m sure it played a part. It’s totally ok though, there’s plenty to play this year.
