Re: Feature: Game Of The Decade Staff Picks - Miitomo

MoonKnight7

Tomodachi Life was a much better experience in my opinion. Miitomo just got so boring. I was done with it after about 2 weeks. Nintendo didn’t do enough to keep it interesting until it was too late. If they had dropped Nintendo clothes earlier, or some better reason to keep playing maybe it would have had better legs. A nice experiment I guess. A game of the decade though? Eh, can’t say I agree, cause nearly everyone here had completely forgotten about it, but everyone has a opinion.

Re: Random: Poor Junichi Masuda Can't Even Enjoy His Birthday Without Someone Moaning About Missing Pokémon

What I don’t understand from angry fans is that they’re doing this instead of making a “new game with a twist”. Would you rather they just do the same thing they’ve done before and drop new games with barely anything new to them?? 30 bucks is cheaper than 60, and I get to use my same save file, so I don’t have to play through the story again. Works for me.

“Paywall”
“Bitter”
“Enraged”
“Disappointed”
“Pokémon should be ashamed.”

That’s all I keep reading from Pokémon comments all day. Frankly, I’d much rather they do this than make a “new game with a twist” like they’ve done since pretty much forever. Some people have gotten to the point where you’re just not gonna be happy with anything Pokémon does. If that’s the case, maybe it’s time to just move on to other gaming adventures.

As for me, I like what I saw. I really enjoyed the wild area, and since the expansions are done the same way, I’m sold.

Re: Pokémon Direct To Air Thursday, 9th January

MoonKnight7

It’s obviously about Home, the timing just makes sense. Now, 20 minutes is a bit much to just talk about Pokémon storage, so maybe, maybe there’s something else to talk about, but the star will be Pokémon Home.

For all others “disappointed” by the news, calm down. The real Nintendo Direct will be here soon, I’d guess in 2-4 weeks. Pokémon Co has always done announcements whenever they wanted.

Re: Switch Named Most Fragile Product Of The Year By French Consumer's Association

@XenoEmblem

“If I can have that many controllers not have any problems, and I use them constantly and extensively, then the average person shouldn't be having this problem.”

Interesting logic there, I’ll play along.

I have 3 joy con sets in my house. 2 of them have drift issues, therefore I can determine that drift is occurring on 66% of the average Switch users! Math is fun.

Re: Switch Named Most Fragile Product Of The Year By French Consumer's Association

MoonKnight7

I can’t believe there’s still people out there who think people who’ve had joy con drift are mishandling their hardware. What? We’re not throwing our Switches down a flight of stairs every day. In most cases, it has just been from normal use. That isn’t normal, it’s a design flaw in the hardware. Just cause you haven’t had an issue doesn’t mean it isn’t a problem overall. You’ve just been lucky so far.

I’ve had systems since the SNES days, and I’ve never had a problem with any of my systems, Nintendo or Sony. But the Switch has a chipped top on the back plate and joy con drift 3 times. My wife’s Switch, which is about a year old, just started drifting as well. She doesn't throw her Switch down the stairs either.

Re: PAYDAY 2 On Switch "Very Unlikely" To Receive Any Of The New Updates

MoonKnight7

I played it, and it was ok. No offense to anyone who played it, but the community on this game wasn’t what I expected at all. If I needed healing, there was a good chance no one would come for me despite the fact they were often close by. It lost its sense of fun, real quick.

I’d much rather stick with Overwatch and Splatoon for my online gaming fix, where teamwork is much more essential.

Re: The Witcher 3 Was An Absolute Mess When It Was Initially Ported To Switch

MoonKnight7

They did an incredible job with this port. It obviously makes sacrifices, but I was really surprised how good it looks in motion. You notice the sacrifices more on the tv, but in handheld mode the game really shines due to the smaller screen. I have had a handful of crashes though, so I hope there’s a patch or two to address that. Still, they did an amazing job and kudos to springing for the 32 GB card, it makes a huge difference.

Re: Nintendo Finally Hints That It Has Ditched Game Development On The 3DS

MoonKnight7

Well given that AlphaDream went bankrupt with their last 3DS release, I’d say that’s obvious at this point. Yes, AlphaDream had other problems that led to bankruptcy, but still, NL reported that Nintendo killed other projects cause of it.

3DS had a fantastic run, with some of the best portable games ever made. It kept Nintendo afloat going through the tough years of the Wii U, and that can’t be understated.

Re: Overwatch Begins Life On The Switch With Its Annual Halloween Event

@ClaytThaGreat

It actually plays quite well. I played for about and hour or so and it didn’t drop at all. There’s some texture pop in, it seems like the Switch can’t load the assets in time, like it does on PS4. But it fixes itself in a few seconds. No issues during the actual gameplay, it’s been buttery smooth even with lots going on.

A shame their PR disaster is gonna take the shine off this launch, cause it’s a great port of a great game.

@Blizzia

“To me, this is a case of "fighting cleverly", not backing away from a fight. Lol. Fools run in first, and they're the first to fall.“

Lol, Nintendo never runs for anything. Clever little line, but no one is running. Nintendo mostly ignored this problem for the better part of a year. Then we got vague statements with “some users are experiencing...” Now, they’re fixing them for free in the States.

There’s always going to be people like yourself who get lucky and never have to address any problems, and I’m happy for your sake. But come on, you don’t think Nintendo rushed these out the door without proper testing? It’s happened to me far too often. Just from my experience with all of my consoles, over 30+ years, I’ve never been on the phone more times than with Nintendo regarding my Switch joy cons. Did I just get that unlucky? Maybe. But then again, if there seems to be enough evidence to build a lawsuit, I’d have to side with there being some truth to it.

And sure, always minimizing the damage is a good place to start, but Nintendo wouldn’t do it if they had a rock solid case. Maybe they’ll get away with it in terms of the law, but it’s hard to deny that there’s definitely a design flaw that conflicts with the Nintendo brand— and Nintendo knows it.

@Blizzia

“They're only being fixed for free in the US. It's pretty much just a common way of damage control, regardless of whether you're a guilty party or not.“

Lol, what?? If they’re not guilty they wouldn’t have a bunch of joy cons to fix. There is obviously some truth to the lawsuit.

“The fact that they're only doing it in the US... Tells you all you need to know.“

Um, right — that’s where the lawsuit was filed. If Nintendo had no wrongdoing then they wouldn’t be fixing them for free and would have just stuck to their guns, and continued to make money on repairs and pitting the blame on consumers. Its not often Nintendo backs away from a fight, especially one concerning quality. It is admitting the fault in a discrete way cause they want to avoid the word “recall”. The US is one of the largest markets, so it is pretty remarkable that you just shrug it off as no big deal cause other regions don’t have it set as their policy.

Re: Switch Lite Teardown Suggests It Has The Same Drift-Prone Analogue Sticks As Standard Model

MoonKnight7

@Razer @Blizzia

If I may weigh in, I’ve had the problem on 3 occasions, so it is a major concern for the lite. I have never had any problems with any of my older consoles — Nintendo or otherwise, so it’s not that I’m rough on them either. Some people get lucky, some do not, but as time goes on, the chance of drift will become more and more likely as they get used. It’s a hardware flaw that was overlooked in R&D. And the fact that Nintendo is fixing them for free right after a lawsuit got filed, tells you all you need to know.
