Re: Sakurai Understands There Are Too Many Fire Emblem Reps In Smash, Says It's Time To "Move On"

People have gotta get over it. Over 70 characters and some still kick and scream cause a series is over represented. It’s not even the end either, we’re getting six more. I’m at the point where I don’t even know or care who they can add anymore. There’s already so many characters and video games represented. The six characters we get are just extra fluff to me at this point.

Re: The Wonderful 101: Remastered Smashes Its $1.5 Million Stretch Goal, Platinum Reveals Two More

Nintendo isn’t publishing it this time, though from what I understand, they still own the trademark, and were also the co-creator of the series. So Platinum had to get their blessing to port to PC and PS4. Is it odd? I guess maybe it is, but W101 didn’t sell well at all so I guess Nintendo didn’t think it would hurt to port it to a wider audience. Nintendo just isn’t involved this time other than granting permission.

As I understand it, if a new game comes out Nintendo wants it exclusive to Switch, and I think Platinum will have to abide.

They shouldn’t be too complacent as trends can change quickly. The Wii sold incredibly well, but by about 2009, sales really started to slow down because HD televisions really took off. Yes, the Wii sold 100 million units, but it was practically irrelevant by 2010-2011.

All I’m saying is that I hope they’re being a little more cautious than what they’re leading on here. I’d argue that the Switch is positioned much better than the Wii was, with it being a hybrid system, but you still need to pay close attention to what Microsoft and Sony are doing.

I do really wonder if Sony is gonna try a handheld again, something that connects to the PS5 that you can take on the go.

Re: Poll: Is E3 Still Relevant To Nintendo In 2020?

I like E3. It’s sorta like Christmas, except you don’t get anything but announcements, haha. I hope it sticks around a little longer, but yeah, it’s influence is starting to wane.

Nintendo’s approach has been good, just an online presentation that gets to the point, then they have booths and games afterwords. It works for them. I wouldn’t care if Xbox and Sony did the same thing. Most of the live shows have awkward transitions and moments that break the mood/flow. Like Sony making people move to another venue in the middle of their own presentation...

As for Sony, I’m not really sure what’s going on with them. I don’t think it would be wise to skip E3 again with the PS5 coming this holiday. Last year made sense to the fact that they didn’t really have much to talk about, but this year, there certainly is.
