Can't say I was ever interested in this, but was kinda wondering why people were even hyped about this, when the whole game looks kinda generic. But than I play my shooters on the PC anyway.
He will be sorely missed. One of the few CEO's I can think of that was truly involved in the product(s) he was selling. May you rest in peace dear Sir and hopefully your family and Nintendo can get over the blow of losing a legendary person this soon.
Absolutely shocked and devastated. My condolences to the family and may you rest in peace, Iwata-san. And thank you for all you've done for us Nintendo-fans.
Really surprised Zelda is leading so far in the poll. I'm a huge Zelda fan, but for me a big part of those games is the world exploration next to the dungeons, which isn't part of the game here.
Will be getting Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden for sure and if the reviews for The Legend of Legacy are positive [and it releases in Europe], I'll definitely be getting that as well. So far I quite like what I've seen of it.
So I have to ask again, what NEW information has Unseen64 ever been proven of bringing? I know they've been proven to be able to dig up OLD information, but that's also a lot easier to do.
On a side note, what are the rumours he's been proven right about? Stuff like Project Hammer and a cancelled F-Zero is not so much about finding new information, but rather about digging up old information that most people hadn't heard about and that's more easily attainable since it's no longer relevant.
Also, how come in the F-Zero post you guys state: "Our source on this particular piece of information wishes to remain anonymous", yet now you still out who it was..
IMO it'd be stupid to launch a console three years (!) after your competitors and not have it be at least as powerful as them. And yes, Nintendo didn't really have to compete with Sony/Microsoft during the Wii-era, but I think they're going to have a really hard time making that happen again. We all know they tried it again with the Wii U and see how that turned out, though that's also partly due to the idiotic name (there are still plenty of people, f.e. parents who've bought a Wii, who still don't know that the Wii U is an entirely different console) and the fact they had to push the second screen.
Sure, the people who are currently happy with their Wii U's only care about Nintendo's games and not so much the console it's power, but if that's going to be your main customers base, you're going to have pretty dreadful sales.. again.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see if it's indeed going to be a hybrid and how many people (besides the already converted Nintendo-fans) will care about having a console that's weaker [than the PS4] but portable.
This game will always remain a 10/10 for me. For me it was Link's Awakening that started my love for the Zelda franchise, since I was only 3 years old at the time of ALttP's release, so I didn't own it right way when it release back in 1992. I actually got a Gameboy before owning a SNES, which was a console that blew my mind when I [was on holiday and] first saw a Donkey Kong Country 'demo-stand' at an airport in the USA when I was 6 years old (I live in Europe). Admittedly ALttP has probably stood the test of time better, as is the the case with most 2D vs 3D titles, but to me OoT will always be the first time I truly felt like I went on an epic adventure in a video-game.
I'll probably only buy K.K. Slider and Tom Nook, not for AC: Festival Whatever, but just because I love AC and they're among my favourite characters in the series.
At the very least I have to admit the graphics seem quite fitting with the Smurfs (the one outside of the mini-games), more so than how creepy they look in those new movies.
I do wonder if this will work out, as it's kind of similar to TF2's payload race, except now both teams can 'push' the same cart (aka tower), whereas in TF2's payload race you get a separate cart for each team. In this tower mode you only get one tower for both teams, which means if the teams are balanced, the tower will just move a few inches one way, then a few inches the other way, etc.
I'm mostly doubtful since Valve knows multiplayer-gaming a whole lot better than Nintendo, so I'd think they'd know what works better/best. But since Splatoon is a whole different game in which both teams are basically the attackers, it doesn't have to apply here. I'll be sure to watch the Nintendo Treehouse stream today to get a better view/opinion of the mode.
Also [to end on a less pessimistic note] yay, a new, free mode!
Well Terraria is getting a huge update tomorrow for the PC (1.3), so as long as that content is included, IMO it'll still be very much worth purchasing (even though other console versions released in 2013).
On a different note, was there really anyone who needed this guide to know how to join the Splatfest? Basically the game explains it all for you and points you exactly where you need to go, as the video also states.
Buying OoT for the Wii U (€1,50 upgrade), even though I'll probably never launch it, since I now prefer playing the 3DS version. But still, it's one of my all time favourite games, so €1,50 is worth it for me to have it on the Wii U main-menu.
@SneakyStyle Haha, that would be a dream come true for me. Having my two favourite platforms combined (Nintendo + Steam). But as you said, 99.9999999% sure that's never going to happen.
@Arlo "Yeah, I'm all for spinoffs and such when we've got the regular games as well."
IMO this is the main point. If we had gotten proper games within these series before they had announced these tiny spinoffs, practically no-one would've complained [about these spinoffs].
@Genesaur o_0! If it includes Dragon Ball Z: Super Butōden 2 [in the West too] that would be really sweet IMO! Not something I see developers do very often, but I sure would love to see it more.
I truly hope both these games fail like there's no tomorrow. Especially with how well New Leaf did, that should give them a proper indication of what the fans actually want. I for one won't be playing these mini-games.
Now that nasty E3 taste is coming back up again, since I was mostly disappointed with AC Wii U being this cheap looking party board-game. I guess Happy Home Designer seems a bit more intriguing, but I doubt it'll stay fun for long just decorating homes. Now if this was an expansion of some sort to New Leaf, it would've been fantastic.
Kinda weird you guys only mention PS4, while it's also releasing on PS3 and Vita (which is what I'll be buying it on) on the same day.
EDIT: Well, I guess you do mention it's Sony systemS in the article. Though just mentioning PS3 and Vita would've been better IMO, since that makes it extra weird to me the only version that's coming out later is on the Wii U.
@BLPs Sometimes all people want/need is more of basically the same game[play] on different maps and with nicer graphics (see Mario Kart f.e.), especially when the last release in your series was over 10 year ago.
@WaveBoy Nope, not really. Sure, it works in ZombiU, but it's nothing major and only adds very little to the experience (and even detracts from it, having to shift your eyes between screens). Haven't played Game & Wario, but I think the same would apply there.
As for Nintendo Land, it basically shows that the most you're going to get out of the Gamepad is create party-games, where one player utilises the Gamepad. Those are fun for a short while, but nothing I'm impressed with.
So far I haven't seen the gamepad used in any convincingly interesting way, which obviously has nothing to do with the success of tablets..
IMO it's a bit lame trying to put the blame on 'people not understanding' or tablets, since even if people understood and there weren't any tablets, the gamepad would still be an uninteresting and overly expensive addition to an already underpowered console..
@ekreig Couldn't agree more. I think if they had actually announced ONE new, primarily single-player Wii U game, most of the people who are currently complaining (including myself), probably wouldn't be that disappointed and complain as much (or at all).
@NorthLightSuplx I don't even understand half your post with it's broken English, but you seem to be acting like I'm some kind of Sony fanboy? If you're just trying to make it seem like Sony and Microsoft conferences were LESS impressive than the one by Nintendo, you're failing.
@GraveLordXD You're a better person than me, since I actually did complain about people liking this stuff.
Sure I'm mostly complaining about what Nintendo does, but I also don't really like seeing other Nintendo fans being happy about games like this, since that will only increase the chance of this stuff selling well and Nintendo not even wanting to do another big production, if this shovelware is more profitable.
@Bagels IMO they don't have to apologize, but they should acknowledge how much they've disappointed their fans with this Direct. So basically, to me, Iwata's statement was sort of good enough as is (I never read it as an apology), though I'd have preferred actual acknowledgement that they should've done things differently (which again isn't apologizing).
Long time Nintendo fanboy here and I can't believe some Nintendo-fans actually try to defend this abysmal presentation.
Animal Crossing = party board-game, instead of the full console AC [most] people were hoping for.
Metroid = cheaply made multiplayer game, instead of the full singleplayer Metroid [most] people were hoping for.
Zelda = cheaply made multiplayer, instead of a singleplayer Zelda in the vain of 'A Link Between Worlds' [most] people would want.
Starfox = apparently not as tight control wise as it's predecessors and obviously the graphics are sub-par. And while graphics don't make a game, they do add or subtract from the atmosphere and your ability to immerse yourself. As Nintendo-Life has shown, this isn't better looking than an upscaled Gamecube game..
To people commenting that these are just spin-offs and we can expect to eventually get full fledged releases off these games are obviously delusional. Nintendo has put it's resources into creating a bunch of simple games that don't require a huge investment (apart from Zelda Wii U), instead of creating one or two more big, quality titles. The only big, quality titles still coming to Wii U are Super Mario Maker and Zelda. I won't even count Starfox among those, since it seems like a small, low budget title (which doesn't mean it can't still turn out great, gameplay-wise).
Won't even comment on people apparently claiming Nintendo had better stuff to show than Sony/Microsoft.
If even after a terrible presentation like this, you're still positive about what Nintendo had to show, you either have a really weird taste, not comparable to the majority of the Nintendo-fans, or you are just so blinded by your fanboyism you don't dare say anything negative about them.
EDIT: You're also obviously not winning any new souls, if this is the best you've got to show.
One of the worst E3's for a Nintendo fan. Thankfully I'm also a PC fanboy and will probably get a PS4 later on [with the money I save from not buying a NX], since at least those are doing good.
"- the game will not be released for the old 3ds, only the new 3ds will run it, we worked on it for over a year and it looked/played horribly. it will only come out for the NEW 3ds system, WiiU and Xbox1."
Title seems so wrong. Sakurai probably did deliberately make Kirby more powerful [than he was in Brawl], because Kirby (both literally and figuratively) sucked in Brawl.

"Lovell's guess - and we should point out that this is just a guess at the moment - is that Nintendo NX is a controller for smart devices, rather than a fully-fledged console"
From the actual quote:
"The NX device will be a relatively low-powered box that sits under the television screen in the living room. It will interface with the controller..."
@LinkSword If he wins the case, all legal costs will be for the losing party, so no problem there. Also, I think it's more lame to steal other people's ''art''-assets because apparently you're not skilled enough to create your own, than it is to rightfully sue someone for using these assets.
As much as I like Shovel Knight, I don't find the character worthy enough to stand between many of those 'veteran' characters. Though I felt the same way about some characters that are already in Smash 4 (Wii Fit Trainer f.e.), so that wouldn't discredit his chances of making it in.
I'd choose either Rayman, because he is a really iconic character that seems worthy of a place in Smash, or Waddle Dee, since Kirby could use extra representation [though 3 characters isn't on a the low side] and it seems quite easy to come up with an original moveset for him.
I doubt either of them will join the fray though, but obviously Rayman has a much higher chance, so I'll be voting for him.
