Now that we've all had a little time to chill out and think about the games we've seen so far at E3, we can think about which Wii U and 3DS games can claim places on our wishlists. There is, once you list the upcoming releases, quite a lot on the way in 2015 and beyond into next year - enough to keep us busy, in any case.
Of course, the question is whether they're the right games to push our buttons. With that in mind we want to gauge your opinion on the Wii U and 3DS games on the way; there are five choices - Must Have, Want, Maybe, Don't Want, and Not For Me. The last option (Not For Me) is there for you if a game's genre is simply not tempting to you on any level, whereas 'Don't Want' is your option if you like a franchise but don't like the game being offered.
So, hit up the polls below and share your views in the comments.
And yes, Blast Ball has its own poll as Nintendo is treating the game as both separate and part of Federation Force in its press materials.

Yo-kai Watch and Fire Emblem are my choices for 3DS.
For all the hate Star Fox and Metroid has been getting around here, they did pretty well in the polls.
I'm considering buying Fates as my first FE game. Do you think I should start with Awakening first?
Metroid did much better than I expected. Personally I don't really want it.
The games I want most are Yoshi's Wolly World, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
The Devils Third, Xenoblade X and Super Mario Maker.. but they were already shown in 2014.
@jjmesa16 Start with Awakening and Radiant Dawn.
Now that I've had a day, I realize that my disappointment comes not from what we're getting but from what we aren't, which is really a ridiculous thing. The failure of E3 to significantly augment the lineup doesn't change the fact that I am still more interested in what Wii U is getting than the other consoles.
Of those games, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Yoshi's Wooly World, and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam are my "Must Have" games.
As for my "Wants", those would include Star Fox Zero, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden, and possibly as a reaction to all the hate it has received, Metroid Prime: Federation Force.
I'm sad to see that Rodea the Sky Soldier, The Legend of Kay Anniversary, and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX were not anywhere to be seen at E3, as they are three games I'm also getting this year.
@A01 Thanks. I've always wanted to play the FE series but I guess I never got around to it.
@jjmesa16 Almost all FE games are separate from each other. Unless you really want to try out the gameplay you don't really need to get it.
God, seeing the list like that makes me so glad I have another console to spend money on :-/
Wow, those results change quickly. I was really saddened by how many people were not interested in Fatal Frame V and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, then I refreshed the page, and the results shifted to many more people wanting the game. It'll be very interesting to see the rend results of this poll.
@ferrers405 same here!!
I seriously hope Nontendo sees these, just so they REALIZE how pathetic and undesireable their offerings are.
@NibelsnarfNoob I figured the story was different in each. I might pick it up since its on sale in the eshop.
@PanurgeJr Likewise. Whilst I do recognise that Nintendo didn't make as big of an impact as it's competitors, the end result is that for me there are still far more games I wish to buy and play on the Wii U and 3DS, than there were shown for the other conferences.
Want:
Star Fox
Super Mario Maker
Zelda Wii U (though it wasn't an E3 game this year)
Yoshi's Wooly World
Might get:
Xenoblade
Mario & Luigi Paper Jam
The rest are a meh to a no.
For me, the must haves are Xenoblade, SMT X FE, Fatal Frame, and Yoshi.
Want Devil's Third.
All the others are maybe and not for me.
I have to emphasis that as much as I don't want Animal Crossing amiibo Festival, I want the actual amiibo.
Nintendo could find themselves in a tight spot where the peripherals are selling but the game is not.
Xenoblade Chronicles X, Fatal Frame, and maybe Devil's Third. That's about all the games I want out of that entire mess. And not one of them is a newly revealed title.
Surprised a lot of people don't want or are on the fence about Yokai Watch.
@jjmesa16 I got Awakening because of the promotion to get 1 game for free. Wasn't sure about it but now it's one of my favorite 3ds games.
For the Wii U it`s Yoshi, Zelda, Star Fox, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Shin Megami x Fire Emblem for must haves. I might get the Amiibo game, but not sure. I like party games and it is Animal Crossing.
For the 3DS it`s Fire Emblem Fates, Mario & Luigi Paper Jam, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon and Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX for must haves. I will also probably get Lego Dimensions, TriForce Heroes, Federation Force and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash with my birthday and Christmas cash that I get.
Lots of "not for me" from this black duck. I want Wooly World and Mario Maker for sure. Happy Home Designer is a maybe. Zelda U being in this list is a cop out since it isn't an E3 2015 game.
Super Mario Maker looks amazing, but i'm not that big a fan of creating my own levels in games, but i think this could be an exception. And i will have fun playing other peoples.
Iv got to get on with Fire Emblem Awakening, i got about half way through then just stopped playing. Such a great game though.
I want to see more info on Devils Third!
@jjmesa16 That's what I'm doing this week. I've already played through the game twice on my brother's 3DS. But I'm a FE fanboy so I feel bad about not owning it myself.
Not for me: Yokai Watch, amiibo Festival.
Rest.... meh.
All for Super Mario Maker, Paper Jam and the FE games, and of course Fatal Frame is a big one. Can't wait for the new Zelda... when it arrives, eventually.
I didn't like e3 this year at all really i personal think it was terrible the only good games were zelda triforce heroes and hyrule legends and Mario maker . I don't have a wii U and may overlook the wii U games but for now i say apart from Mario maker all were not that great and not my type of games at all. but on the 3ds eshop some of the game fanchise such as zelda and animal crossing new games are coming out the games are on sale but could there be a new pokemon game aside from super mystery dungeon game coming out.
@A01 not enough details about devils third, and it could go either way, but I don't see it doing super well (I don't see it being unique enough, sure its different from whats on Wii U, but different from other 3rd pers shooters? not sure yet). Fatal Frame I really want, but the IP isn't that strong in the Americas so i don't expect many sales either.
Super Mario Maker is the only must-have for me, however I am interested in Star Fox Zero like many others.
I never thought Star Fox and Metroid could receive so much hate! Oh well. I got Triforce Heroes, so I'm happy.
I'm most excited about Xenoblade Chronicles X, Legend of Zelda and Fire Emblem Fates.
I'm quite looking forward to Star Fox Zero as I love that IP, even if the game didn't exactly wow me like I'd hoped.
I'm pretty intrigued by Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem but will need to learn/see a lot more about that before really forming an opinion. Trailers have certainly looked good so far.
I'd love to say I'm excited about Fatal Frame, as again I love the IP, but it didn't get very good reviews over in Japan.
I will almost certainly buy Yoshi's Wooly World, Mario Maker, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Metroid Prime Federation Force, Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam and Yo-Kai watch, but I wouldn't really say I'm "excited" about any of those.
No interest at all in either Animal Crossing game, Skylanders, Just Dance, Devil's Third or Hyrule Warriors on a portable.
3 must haves
and the rest not for me/don't want.
At least we have good Nintendo games to play right now.
Only two must have titles for me Zelda U and FE Fates, some others are maybes!
For me, Super Mario Maker & Fire Emblem are "must have" games. For the most part, the majority of the games fall in the "maybe" or "don't want" category.
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer won E3 for Nintendo. Must have!
If you go to the amiibo website there is an outline of Tom Nook and there are Animal Crossing Amiibo. There is an outline of just Pikmin which means Pikmin Amiibo and Pikmin 4 coming soon. Hopefully not in the form of a board game or soccer.
My two must have games were announced last year (or earlier). I am interested in Yoshi's Wooly World and Star Fox Zero, but the rest of interest me very little. I will not own a 3DS/N3DS anytime soon and nothing here convinces me otherwise.
The same for any amiibo 'games' that require an investment of over $100 to get all the pieces and still is little more than Candy Land in terms of gameplay. Skylanders and Disney Infinity both also land in that particular category and I believe Lego: Dimensions does also.
So there are only really 4 games that are considered must-haves at this E3.
Zelda and Yoshi 100% must have and Star Fox but only if graphic issues will be fixed.
A lot of good games this year, more than last year. The reaction was mostly that there was not enough new things announced at E3. A big amount of this was announced in a direct. So many games,so little time!
A ton of must have and maybes, I honestly found only Just Dance and Skylanders not for me (and had to say the same for Fatal Frame, it tempt me, but those ghosts are too scary ^_^;;; ).
@jjmesa16 Awakening is on sale in the eShop right now. You should scoop it up, it's a phenomenal game and my first FE. My favorite 3DS game, I highly recommend it.
Fire Emblem and Hyrule Warriors Legends on the 3DS and Yoshi's Woolly World are the definite-buys on my list.
So people are hating Star Fox now? That was the most impressive thing during their presentation. I think Star Fox looks fantastic. Yoshi and Mario Maker have been must-haves ever since they were first announced and they keep looking better and better. I'm not gonna beat a dead horse but Federation Force is not for me. M&L: Paper Jam looks great and was an unexpected surprise. Everything else I was pretty much take it or leave it.
Fire Emblem, M&L, Zelda U, Triforce Hero's, Mario Maker, Wolly World, and StarFox Zero.
Good games, I look forward to them.
I can't wait for Zelda U, Xenoblade, Mario Maker, Yoshi, Fire Emblem and SMTxFE. I will gladly also get Fatal Frame and Yokai Watch. The rest are 'maybes' at best, and I'm still royally pissed about AC Amiibo Festival.
Blast Ball is part of Federation Force, not its own thing
@krakensoup People are hating Star Fox because it isn't really anything new, it looks like a slightly upgraded Wii game, lacks online multiplayer and is incredibly short.
I've been so disappointed so far with E3. oh well I guess it will save me money for the rest of the year since all I game on is Nintendo products. I am excited for Xenoblade, Hyrule Warriors 3ds and that's about it. I'm so hoping for some surprise announcements- Any of the Dragon Quest Games would be a welcome announcement. As usual Nintendo is putting on an entertaining show that's well done they just don't have any top tier software. I'm sure Yoshi will do good and Xenoblade, Mario maker will do well also. I think Metroid fans will be a bit put off. I also think most people are bit put off by Amiibo in general. The Wii-U is doing so bad, its really sad to have that system and wait for anything decent
Can't say there's much I'm excited for. I will probably still get StarFox Zero, Fire Emblem Fates, and Xenoblade Chronicles X, but I can't say I'm greatly looking forward to them as I used to be. Zelda U is so far the only must-have game from the list, and Nintendo didn't even talk about it (and I'd argue it shouldn't be on this list)
I may get Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World eventually, but I doubt it. Everything else is going to need heavy convincing to get me to buy it. And look at what an utter disaster SMT x FE looks to be...
@NintenBo Do we know that it's extremely short with no extra content? From my understanding it's about the same length as Star Fox 64 which, with one playthrough is fairly short, but can be replayed multiple times to see all the content. To me that's not short. That's replay value. I understand the disappointment with lack of online play but it doesn't affect me. I still think it looks great.
(if i had a Wii U)
my must haves are:
Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Mario Maker.
My Maybe's: Mario ultra Smash and yoshis wooly world
My Not wanting is Everything else
(if i had a Wii U)
my must haves are:
Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Mario Maker.
My Maybe's: Mario ultra Smash and yoshis wooly world
My Not wanting is Everything else
(if i had a Wii U)
my must haves are:
Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Mario Maker.
My Maybe's: Mario ultra Smash and yoshis wooly world
My Not wanting is Everything else
I'm so excited for Metroid Prime Federation Force! So happy for my boys Billy the Federation Soldier, Bobby the Federation Soldier, Stanley the Federation Soldier, and Marsha the Obligatory Female Federation Soldier to get their time in the spotlight!
I pretty much want them all except Just Dance, Skylanders, and I thought Mario Tennis looked pretty bad.
Wii U has a nice rest of the year with a questionable 2016.
Also Treehouse or someone give us info on Devil's Third!? That would of been nice to have during the Direct along with Fast Racing Neo.
I will get MarioMaker, Yoshi and mabe Zelda if it ever sees the light of day.... just 3 games I'm interested in and all were already known before E3.
Sad thing is the more and more and more they show of these games, the more secrets and fun they are taking away from the experience of playing them for the first time...
@Anthony_Higgs Spoiler Alert...all the Federation members are actually Power Rangers.
Yoshi, Xenoblade, Zelda and Paper Jam for me please. Other than that I'll probably be on my PS4...
There's plenty to keep me excited. Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Fatal Frame, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Fire Emblem Fates are all must haves, and the time in between will let me give my neglected gaming PC some attention.
Well that was depressing. I haven't watched any Treehouse this year either which pretty much sums up my interest.
hmmm, aren't 'don't want' and 'not for me' essentially the same thing??
For me, Starfox went from a must have to a want, if not a maybe. Really disapointed... I'll definitely get Fatal Frame and Devil's Third.
The only game from the direct that I have no interest in is the Animal Crossing board game. But depending on what it has I might wind up getting it. I'm even looking at getting Skylanders Supercharged, but it would be a lie if I said it wasn't just for Bowser and DK. It reminds me of Marvel Ultimate Alliance trying to put Link and Samus into their game. That would have been amazing.
@Mario_Fart you are not missing much.
The list is a little disappointing for me. Zelda and Xenobloade are the only must haves for me, though there are a few others I want.
I'll get Yoshi's W.W. and Fatal Frame. Would like Xenoblade game but after watching those painfully long combats and endless running through plains puts me off
Voted "must have" for my must-have games:
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Super Mario Maker
The Legend Of Zelda: Triforce Heroes
Hyrule Warriors Legends
Anything else's a maybe.
Their's something about Animal crossing: Happy Home Designer that makes me want it so much! Maybe it's the fact that I never got a chance to play a real animal crossing. When New Leaf came out, I bought and then, let's just say Instead of becoming a mayor, I became a citizen, that wasn't fun.
Animal crossing amiibo party...
For some odd reason, I want it.
Probably a reason to get amiibo.
Since I don't have a wii U. But from the wii u games joshy's wooly world, starfox and mario maker look like the most fun. dissapointing that zelda wii u wasn't at E3. Don't know what to think about metroid. Fire emblem seems nice. Don't have much more to say. Average E3 overall, really really dissapointing game reaveals.
Must Have: (For me, this means that I NEED this game as fast as possible)
Star Fox Zero, ZeldaU, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Fire Emblem Fates
Want: (For me, this means I want it, but I can wait a bit to get it)
Super Mario Maker, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden, Yoshi's Wooly World, The Legends of Zelda: TriForce Heroes, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Metroid Prime: Federation Force/Blast Ball (Aren't they the same game?), Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer
Maybe: (I'm interested, but wouldn't be too upset if I didn't get them)
Hyrule Warriors Legends, Yo-Kai Watch
Don't Want/Not For Me: (I don't really care for these games)
Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Devil's Third, Skylanders Superchargers, Just Dance 2016
GOTTA HAVE Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World! And Paper Jam too, cause the quality in the Mario & Luigi Series is always super high.
Some people will like amiibo festival to be sure, but I have no idea why Nintendo decided to put the time and investment into something like that. It's ridiculous.
@MasterWario Amiibo Festival seems a little odd as it would appear you would need the Animal Crossing amiibo alone to play. I'm assuming they will be difficult to find which could make the game unplayable for some.
Zelda Wii U was not at e3, why is it in this poll?
@James_mussell98 Hyrule Warriors and Triforce are 3ds titles not Wii U.
Yoshi pre ordered (out next week in Europe), super Mario maker , Zelda, xenoblade, star Fox and possibly metroid prime fed. Just need more to last to the nx. Future directs need to deliver but not holding out any hopes . Retro what have you got? VC we need you too. And some quality Indy . It's not all bad but it could and perhaps should better
Where is Chibi Robo on this list? It certainly got shown more at E3 than the Zelda Wii U game did. It had a whole treehouse section yesterday.
I voted for everything but the next "Big Zelda" game.
It is a "must have" for sure!!!! But it is a must have for the NX. If there would have been that option then I would have voted for it.
The fact that I invested so much in the Wii U and got it from launch no less and Nintendo is already planning on moving onto the next console pisses me off. Well it is there only option because they got their selves in a rut for sales. Well maybe you shouldn't have called it Wii "U" and made it as powerful as other consoles now. Duh
There's a number of "Not for me" and some "Maybe" as well for me.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is my only must have.
After that it's a want for the Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem crossover and a maybe for Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Legend of Zelda, Fatal Frame. Fire Emblem Fate, Happy Home Designer (Treehouse really helped push this one for me) and Yokai Watch.
@Dizzard Also it wasn't on the poll but I'm interested in playing Chibi Robo: Ziplash as well.
Must Have
Devil's Third
Fire Emblem: Fates
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Super Mario Maker
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Yoshi's Woolly World
Want
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer
The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)
Skylanders: Superchargers
Maybe
Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival
Hyrule Warriors: Legends
The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes
Star Fox Zero
Don't Want
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash
Metroid Prime: Blast Ball
Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Not for Me
Fatal Frame
Just Dance 2016
SMTxFE
Yo-Kai Watch
Yoshis Wooly World is coming next week (I'm in the UK) and after that it has to be Super Mario Maker. Me, my 7 year old son and my 5 year old daughter are currently hooked on creating levels in M vs. DK Tipping Stars. When I showed them the Mario Maker trailer they were so excited and are already counting down the days until 11th September!
@krakensoup They kind of look like it, don't they. That's part of what so upsets me about this game. This game decidedly not Metroid, but aside from that it actually looks pretty generic.
And, y'know, I don't want to hate on this game. I don't. Because it actually looks pretty fun. But if Nintendo's not going to give us a real Metroid game, then I wish they at least wouldn't pretend like this is one.
I'm looking forward to Fire Emblem Fates,Paper Mario Jam and Federation Force along with Hyrule warriors 3ds, all game stores near me don't sell wii u
E3 was really bad, but the lineup is great nonetheless.
Oh and yokai watch looks pretty fun too!
The Zeldas and SMTxFE are musts for me. Starfox and Xenoblade are both maybes.
Overall, E3 was pretty boring for me. None of the big press conferences really got me that excited.
@jjmesa16 Fates might be a good place to start. It'll be a while, though, so in the meantime you might as well get Awakening. Not all FE games follow the same continuity, so there is no material to catch up with to understand the story. Awakening is technically a distant sequel to the original FE games (where Marth was the commanding lord), but knowing their plots is unnecessary ( no real need to). Awakening does have a lot of callbacks to previous FE games (for fanservice), and Marth does appear as part of the story. Awakening was a good place to jump into the series as well, imho.Do you have a WiiU? One or two of the GBA titles are on the VC, but they are a bit harder than Awakening. Sacred Stones is the easier of the two, and more closely resembles Awakening and Fates(Hoshido). Make of this what you will.
All about Fire Emblem in terms of 3DS games.
I hope Galactic Federation and Blast Ball come in the same card. Separate do not seem worth buying in my opinion.
Why are Blast Ball and Federation listed separately?
How can you already say Zelda U is a must have? We've barely even seen 5 minutes of gameplay total.
@DBPirate I'm basing it on Nintendo's current and future lineup of AAA titles. We're running out, so I'll take what I can get. They would have to really mess up the game for me to say no.
I thought Yokai Watch will have better reception judging from how popular it is in Japan. I guess it's outshadowed by all this Metroid Prime fiasco, or that you guys wanted the sequel? Cmon, Level 5 games is fun.
I feel sorry for Nintendo. While yes they do seem to have an issue with giving fans exactly what they ask for, they also have the issue of having to deliver to an extremely ungrateful market of consumers.
Nintendo is giving us games that look like they will be a fun experience, though a few do look rather lackluster. People are just too caught up in what they asked for to appreciate what they are being given. It's like everyone asked for cake, but Nintendo's cake isn't ready, so they gave us cupcakes.
Weird analogy, yes, but you should get the point. Calm your greedy bias dudes.
This years e3 was kinda disappointing on general from all the companies, but if you look at the games coming, there is at least 1 or 2 games I want each month starting in September. Honestly, I am still happy i own Wii U and new 3ds, even though they could have tried to show me something to wow me alil more
I really dislike the character designs of SMTxFE, seems they are being too revealing with the costumes. They ought to just dress everyone in modest and reasonable battle-dress.
I voted must have for zelda but the more I think about it I'm starting to wonder if it'll be the game we think it is.we get a brief bit of footage and told we can go where we want in the world, with no info on gameplay mechanics (other than slowdown to shoot arrows on epona),story, controls etc.
Then they start making statements that all zelda games have been open world to an extent, miyamoto says it'll be suited to short play sessions then aonuma comes out and says they need more time i think that means either
A):aonuma doesn't know what to do with the game.hes has noted problems in development before particularly with the console games.maybe he doesn't know where to take the combat after skyward sword, how to make his puzzles work in a non linear world, struggling to fill said world with memorable characters like midna, maybe his son hasn't told him what mode of transportation link should use this time. Or
B): miyamoto came in and flipped over the table since he seems to hate big games these days and next time we see the game it'll be drastically different and not for the better.
I like the "not for me" option. I'm also curious about number of voters. I look forward to discussing the digital event and each of these game announcements on our next episode of the Turtle Jump Video Game podcast. You guys should check us out, NL peeps included We're taking discussion letters for the show at [email protected].
@Tops Even post E3, I kept things in perspective. There are plenty of Nintendo games i'll definitely get. I also have a PC & PS4. Still, nintendo is top on my list.
They could have at least given a clue as to the new "Club Nintendo" loyalty program... I'm guessing that's completely dead for this gen and will start fresh with NX?
No new loyalty program... no brand new WiiU games in the pipeline... I guess the NX is actually coming next year? I'm excited to see what it is (surely a merging of portable and home console) and I'm overall happy with my current WiiU library (plus probably Star Fox and maybe Mario Maker).
@jjmesa16 I'm not sure what the question is? FE:A is brilliant and it's on sale right now. I doubt Fates will be better, but even if, FE:A is still one of the best games on the 3DS. If you want to play FE, get it now and enjoy, no point in waiting a year, none at all. If you like FE:A, get Fates as well, once it's out.
This year and next will be hype! The naysayers can go be mad in the corner
Whoa, no love for Happy Home Designer? You guys do know you can decorate a school, hospital, pick where they live, and put all indoor furniture outside right? I get not wanting the amiibo party...but the new 3ds Animal Crossing? Looks great in my opinion.
@Mr_Zurkon i know that was ment to be next to the mario maker and mario ultra smash, my iphone was messed up. (Going to get android). I know the hyrule warriors legends and triforce heroes are 3ds.
Even though this E3 was disappointing, it still had a great lineup. In no particular order, here's my list.
Must Haves:
Star Fox Zero
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Fire Emblem: Fates
Wants:
The Legend of Zelda U
Yoshi's Wolly World
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
Devil Third
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer
Maybes:
Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash
Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Metroid Prime: Blast Ball
Hyrule Warriors Legends
Yo-Kai Watch
Don't Want:
Skylanders Superchargers
Just Dance 2016
Not For Me:
Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival
Of course E3 was disappointing if you want to be smashed with new huge releases every damn year.
Epic must-have titles such as Zelda, Xenoblade, Mario Maker, and SMT X Fire Emblem take hundreds of people several years to develop. People tend to forget that! Kids nowadays think it's only clicking fingers and the magic is done. You all should get a lesson in game development.
I literally felt embarrassed for Nintendo as I watched their conference.
Nothing but disappointing announcements and games we already know about. And this is coming from a long-time hardcore Nintendo fan.
Why Nintendo?? Why!?
This year was relatively dissapointing, but there's still at least games that I'm looking forward to.
Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox Zero, Yoshis Wooly World, Devils Third, and Fatal Frame are must haves. Gotta add that after a day to calm down this e3 wasn't that bad because of the no shows. We're getting some really great games.
Everybody saying that the system is dead is straight up stupid. They can rebound from this with a Nintendo Direct in a couple of months so like the article says CHILL OUT!
@A01 Same here, it's pretty disappointing. And they wonder why mature games don't make it to the Wii U. I would take both of those over Mario Maker and Yoshi's Wooly World anyday.
Excited? Hah! This is surely a joke? C'mon there is nothing new to get excited about. I mean I was excited about the Wii U reveals last year but..bugger all!! 2016
I'm disappointed by the lack of interest in Fatal Frame
Fire Emblem Fates, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam are my "must haves."
All of my hype for those games.
FATAL FRAME!!!! ..... and that is all.
@Jason723
The lack of Yo-kai Watch supporters saddens me... Seriouslly hope the sales are at least high enough to warrant localization of the sequels
So excited for Super Mario Maker, can't wait to see what the community comes up with.
So excited for Super Mario Maker, can't wait to see what the community comes up with.
So Mario Maker might my the biggest "Must Have" for me in a decade or so. It really looks like they are doing everything right with this game and like it's super easy to use, which is usually the reason I don't actually end up making levels (Little Big Planet I gave up on after 10 min).
Star Fox I hope will be more arcady then the previews sound like and Yoshi I got already preordered and paid.
I really don't know about those 3DS coop games. Not sure if they'll be full price...I'm shocked on how few people here want Yokai watch. I'm soooo looking forward to a Pokémon-like game that is NOT Pokémon.
Home designer I wanna know more about...especially how the cards will be distributed. I'd love them to do boosters with foil parallels and stuff like that but I'm sure I'm pretty alone with that opinon. ^^
Edit: They DO HAVE holofoil parallels of the cards on the show floor and they look great!
Fire Emblem has gone the way of Shin Megami Tensei; the games have become more casualized due to the popularity of 1 game in their respective series that catered heavily to casuals and also introduced a lot of anime bullcrap that wasn't present before, so Persona 3 = Awakening. Fates = Persona 4, I guess. Also, not enough people want SMT X FE on here. That's going to be game of the century, mark my words.
@jjmesa16 I would recommend starting with one of the GBA titles or Path of Radiance / Radiant Dawn, for newcomers. Awakening was quite a departure from how the series worked in the past, so it doesn't really represent what you can expect from the series as a whole. If you only have a casual interest, though, you might give Awakening a try, just to see a glimpse of how the series works.
It's nothing new for me to have very few E3 games on the to-get list, which is around 3-4 titles, but at least there are RPG's among them this time!
@MightyKrypto "Don't want" has more of a negative tone, indicating the title as a bad pick, perhaps even as bad for others. "Not for me" is more of a neutral tone, by acknowledging it looks good enough, but is not your cup of tea.
Why is Blastball a seperate option? The Federation force trailer already confirmed Blastball is part of the package!
By the way: Fire emblem Fates, how will it go in the west? I mean, 1 or 2 versions?
Every Animal Crossing Fan who picked "Not for me" or "Don't Want" for Happy Home Designer should really, REALLY watch the Treehouse Live stuff they showed!
Fast Racing Neo looked really good on the Treehouse stream. Now that was exciting.
@scamander Yeah, it would have been fun to add in an actual Animal Crossing game. This is too stripped of an Animal Crossing experience for me though.
@BlueNitrous I don't know if Awakening can be compared to the sea change that Persona 3 represented for it's time, but at least it kept the series afloat... Fates has imouto drills, sister complexes, and other neo-anime tropes, which even the Persona series doesn't have... So we'll have to see how that pans out... That might turn out to be a little too much to stomach for some people. My decision on it being "must have" will depend on how they offer it to the west. It's only a "want" if they repeat their eastern plans.
SMTxFE looks like a Persona style side story or spin off, kind of like SMT If was a side story to the original SMT. I prefer the more mainline styled titles and DDS, but I still want to see how it pans out.
The RPG's are all "want" and "must have" for me, except SMTxFE, depending on how much it imitates Persona 3/4. Every thing else is "maybe", "don't want", or " not for me", except for Star Fox and Zelda. I am pleased that I had more cases of "not for me" than "don't want".
They gave a 2015 date for Xenoblade, they win E3 in my book.
@BigH88 The Metroid series comment about it not coming for Wii U in another NL article, combined with Reggie's comment at the end of the E3 digital event, weren't quite as obvious as Bernie Stolar's infamous E3 1997 statement, "the Saturn is not in our future", but they more or less point to a similar sentiment after mid 2016. Interestingly, this point is being raised on the third E3 after the Wii U's release, just as was done with the 3rd E3 after the Saturn's release. (It released simultaneously with E3 1995 in the west and Christmas 1994 in the east.)
Nearly every answer for me was either 'don't want' or 'not for me'. What a pathetic showing for Nintendo.
I really think that people that want Devil's Third should really consider moving to a PS4 or XBone, that games look terrible.
@kensredemption I don't think it is the consumer's fault. Nintendo gets sub-par third party games like Zombie U or Devil's Third. They are not bad, just not on the same level as the franchises that the stronger consoles are getting.
@kensredemption Well, the only 3rd party releases other than RPG's I'm interested in here are Devil's Third and Fatal Frame... Not much to choose from.
For me, the Must Haves are Xenoblade, Yoshi, Zelda, SMTxFE and FE:Fates. I find it disappointing that from those only one is for 3DS... It truly needs some love! On the "maybe", its Star Fox, I really think it should be delayed, and they have to promote Xenoblade as they promoted Splatoon
@kensredemption No need to be aggresive - It merely is a matter of likes and dislikes (I don't like shooters nor horror games), and the fact that most peoples that want to play those genres have another console. You can't blame the customer - if you don't like a game, will you spend your money on it?
SMTXFE is the my main reason to own a Wii U, Xenoblade X is a must have, Star Fox was, but now is a "want". As a fan of Yoshi's Island (SNES) Wooly World is a must have too. Devil's Third, Mario Tennis and Fatal Frame are want!
On 3DS, Fire Emblem sure is a must have and Yokai Watch is a want.
Everything else is "maybe" or lower.
I never played Star Fox or as I remember it Star Wing, didn't really get it and I don't know if I can be bothered with it....
However I pre-ordered Yoshi Woolly World, I pre-ordered Super Mario Maker on Wednesday. I might pre-order Zelda and keep it sealed until I get round to play it, the new Mario Tennis game I'm not sure as I really liked the Wii version. Won't be the same
As for the 3DS Mario and Luigi Paper jam and the new Zelda title.
As for anything else I'm really not interested in the other titles, Sorry Nintendo.
I want Zelda and Xenoblade, Star Fox Zero is a maybe, Paper Jam is a must have, as are all Mario & Luigi games, no need to worry over it.
Everything else though... eh. Disappointing E3 in a lot of ways, especially Metroid and SMT x FE.
Not a single must have in this lineup TBH (I do have a couple of wants and maybes though). Anything that would qualify as one is not in a genre I like.
Can't believe we didn't get a glimpse of the one game that all Nintendo fans are universally clamoring for... Mad Men Football. Thanks AE, for single handedly killing the Wii U.
Honestly I feel like Federation Force looks pretty fun, though I'll admit I'm not digging the chibi-like art style at all. I also hope it has a solid single-player, since I mainly play single-player games.
That said, the lineup of games incoming doesn't look THAT bad (Xenoblade is a must-have for me, and Star Fox looks promising as well), but everyone is disappointed (myself included) simply because there was no big-hitter reveals akin to Zelda U last year.
Also, Fire Emblem: Fates looks pretty awesome from what we've seen so far. Too bad they haven't revealed whether it'll be a split release here in the west yet, though.
AC:HHD - Maybe. Depends on the price-per-card-pack/price of the game. I'm not rolling in $$$ (especially with baby on the way in October).
FE:Fates & LoZ:TFH - Want!
@James_mussell98
I'd say the WiiU is a must have for Mario Kart 8, Smash and Splatoon. But if the NX is backwards compatible maybe it would be better just to wait and get that instead. I'm thinking Zelda, Metroid and Animal Crossing are never coming to WiiU at this rate.
@jjmesa16 Yes start with Awakening. It's the best entry to the series. Either that or the first GBA game.
Must have for me Zelda U ,Devil's Third,Fatal Frame,SMT X FE, Yoshi's Wolly World,Xenoblade Chronicles X and Paper Jam. The maybe's the new Mario tennis game,Mario Maker,Star Fox Zero and that metriod spin off. The rest i could care less
I must have Star Fox Zero & Yoshi's Woolly World!!!!!! I want Devils Third & Zelda U is not till Next Year the rest Blah ... ( I love Super Mario Bros ... But I'm not into level editing )
@kensredemption don't read that the wrong way; Microsoft's conference seemed to hinge on backwards compatibility for their own failing console, and in retrospect Sony's was a lot of smoke and mirrors. Just saying that the little Nintendo presented was lackluster, at best.
And part of that is thanks to, as you said, last year's awesome E3 Direct. Crazy to think that this time last year they showed Splatoon and the NX--uh, pardon me--Wii U Zelda and had the kind of positive press that Sony is now enjoying. What a difference a year makes.
I have 4 must haves from that list, and everything on 3DS that I might want defaults to maybe because I just don't like playing on that device very much. With the amount of gaming to gnaw out of what I already have and all the indie games, the Wii U is treating my and mine very, very well.
Sad E3 so far, really, but the Wii U has been truly great. I know that's not how some other owners have felt, but I was blown away from day one with the great experiences I was having with my family and the under-appreciated Nintendo Land, even.
This years E3 was dissapointing for Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony in my opinion. Hopefully we will get a better E3 next year
Looking forward to Freedom Planet more than most of these games. Xenoblade X, Fatal Frame, and possibly Star Fox are what I want from Nintendo this year.
What's this?! A new mario rpg game?! YES! I love those games!
The 3DS games I'm definitely getting are Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam and Fire Emblem Fates. I actually plan on getting a good number of Wii U games, but I may need to cut the list short, so I'm keeping my eye on them (but Xenoblade Chronicles X and Yoshi's Woolly World are must-haves this year). I'd also like to have Fatal Frame, although I've never played any of the games, so I'm not sure if I'd like it.
As for SMTxFE, I was really expecting it to go along the lines of the main Shin Megami Tensei games. We haven't gotten much game-play, and it seems lighter in theme. If it's more like Persona, I'm sure it'd end up being a great game, but I was hoping for something as dark as the main games. The singing and pop-star stuff isn't convincing me. Well, I shouldn't be so quick to assume, anyway.
Metroid Prime game looks intriguing, not very mature (especially with the toonish designs), but maybe it'll turn out to be fun. I've never played a Fatal Frame game, so I'm really interested in playing it. I'm a fan of rpg's so I think I'll enjoy Xenoblade. SMT x FE looks interesting but.... I don't know... Its mechanics are more like SMT than FE, and I have to admit I had a hard time in SMT4. I find Devil's Third to be dated, but maybe, just maybe, the game can turn out to be really good, maybe like Bayonetta 2. I love Mario and Luigi games, though I've never had one, but every time I see them they look really fun.
Fatal Frame, Devil's Third, Xenoblade, and M&L:PJ are probably "musts".
Zelda, Star Fox, SMTxFE, Fire Emblem Fates, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Tennis, Metroid Prime FF/BB, and Triforce Heroes are all definitely up there, too.
Pretty excited.
A ton of must haves for me showed as very little interest from others, think that shows where Nintendo need to promote these games a lot more if they want they to be successful.
My must haves have to be...
YWW
Mario Maker
FE x SMT
Hyrule Warriors 3DS
Xenoblade Chronicle's X
Fatal Frame
Devil's Third
Btw, in Japan, Fatal Frame is an astonishingly good game!.... It's a great shame it's not feeling so much love over here....... 😔
Not the best Nintendo E3, but a pretty decent line up.
@Ralizah I agree with you.... Fantastic storytelling and atmosphere!
That Yokai watch and Xenoblade Chronicles X tho...
Sadly I had selected too many 'Not for me' or 'Maybe'.
Only three WiiU titles were 'Want' or 'Must Have' 😕
Mario Maker, XCX and Woolly World are probably my favorite upcoming/E3 games for Nintendo. Also Zelda U, but that's not going to be for a long time.
While the Digital Event was disappointing, the Treehouse sessions and new trailers they didn't show during the event are really awesome. Have you seen gampleay from FAST Racing Neo? It's insane!
How is Zelda Wii U one of Nintendo's E3 games this year when they're not showing it off anywhere?
I love this nintendo E3, isn't the best one but still awesome to me
Already sold on Yoshi's Woolly World and Super Mario Maker anyway so definitely getting them for sure, along with Yokai Watch, Hatsune Miku Project Mirai and Rodea the Sky Soldier for the 3ds later in the year (disappointed nothing shown regarding those last two).
As for the rest, I'll keep an eye on just outta curiosity, especially XCX, Mario Tennis & AC:HHD for the younger brother. Otherwise, I'm good with my five above.
Remember that Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden is going to be Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water in Europe and Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water in America. That is my most wanted game, but Yoshi and Zelda look like must-have, too. Xenoblade Chronicles X is an interesting title. On 3DS, I can't wait for Fire Emblem and Mario & Luigi. The rest of this long list is full of mediocrity except for perhaps Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem.
I am also very jealous of XBox One owners that got the best E3 this year with free backwards compatibility and Rare Replay (30 Rare games in one disc for around €30).
@link3710
That Star Fox looked about as good as I could have ever imagined a new Star Fox would look.
I really hope it does well- I remember the Miiverse protests and backlash expressing disdain for not having a new Star Fox in two generations. Very similar to the Metroid backlash with people wanting a new proper entry. And you would think with an outcry like that it would be a unanimous must-have for everyone on the site.
The final version of Star Fox will probably be amazing. Mario Tennis Ultra Smash will likely be a great multiplayer.
Plan on playing Splatoon for many months to come, so not really concerned about lack of summer releases.
Mighty No. 9 is on the way and that looks tremendous.
But I'm really excited for Disney Infinity Star Wars....and that will certainly drain the old gaming budget!
I voted Fatal Frame, Super Mario Maker and Devil's Third as must haves. I'll also buy Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.... I love the designing aspect of the series, so I don't feel this is as big of a stretch like the Amiibo Party spinoff is.
@jjmesa16 Dude, It's on sale at the eShop. Get it now!!!
@jjmesa16 The best FE to start with is FE7 on the GBA (Wii U Virtual Console)
Must Haves:
Star Fox Zero
Yoshi's Woolly World
Super Mario Maker
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Zelda U
Absolutely dispise/ I could literally not care less about:
Both of those "Metroid Prime" titles
""Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem""
Both Animal Crossing titles (I whole-heartedly expected a new AC on Wii U)
Yo-kai Watch
None of these games look bad honestly. I was hoping Happy Homes Designer was an expansion for New Leaf, because Animal Crossing is one of those series that feels like you can play 1 iteration of it forever.
Star Fox is the reason I got a Wii U
Fire Emblem Awakening is the reason I got a 3DS
Xenoblade Chronicles is the reason I got a new 3DS
Wooly World, that cute girl in the Direct sold me. Let's see more of her, because I think I'm in love <3
Zelda I'm surprised they didn't show any footage, if they did all the haters would be appeased. I mean, other companies premier stupid CG trailers that don't even showcase gameplay, so Nintendo could've done something no matter how brief. But I do understand where Reggie is coming from with the "advertising Holiday titles".
Also Mario Maker? Abso-FREAKING-Lutely.
And I love Paper Mario and Mario/Luigi Series, I just wish Paper Luigi of the paper companions were in it as well
Why is Zelda Wii U on this list?
It wasn't present at E3 2015 in any form—that I'm aware of.
Hehe. Couldn't resist...voted Zelda WiiU - Don't want...just to be awkward.
1% to me!!
Super Mario Maker
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Fatal Frame
Fire Emblem
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
This is probably a minority opinion, bit I'm super excited for Mario tennis!
I bought a Wii U for SMxFE and Xenoblade, so those are my tops. Ill get Starfox too. Otherwise, not much for me announced. I still know nothing of Devil's Third because Nintendo doesnt promote it.
3DS has nothing for me this year from 1st parties for me
A ton of stuff in 2016 for 3DS though!
@Tender_Cutlet Don't worry, I also voted don't want for Zelda U. All of that talk regarding making Zelda U open world, and seemingly taking inspiration from the original Legend of Zelda, hints that the resulting game will be a Zelda entry I'm not fond of.
Well E3 is over and apparently most people didn't like what they saw. I'm not going to worry Xenoblade X is coming and for me will probably be game of the year and well worth the wait. Yoshi's yarn looks like it will please Yoshi fans. Its not my kind of game but I thought it looked awesome. Hyrule Warriors 3DS is coming and I'm excited as hell for that. Now let's talk Metroid Federation.....At first I was like what the heck! But after watching a full hour on the treehouse on day 3 I'm buying in hope my friends will buy so we can play online co-op. Its an awesome game with probably the wrong title but who cares its looked great. I also love the idea of a multiplayer Zelda game I'm glad Nintendo is taking a chance on that. If it doesn't work out they can go back to the regular formula which they wouldiI'm sure. Yep E 3 is over and really I think there are some great games on the way. Most of what we are getting are exclusive games and other systems won't be getting those. Just like we won't be getting some of theirs. I was a little dismayed with what I was watching the first 2 days myself. But than I sat and thought about it and really its going to be just fine. Indie devs have some great Eshop titles coming and even though Star Fox is catching some flack I would be willing to bet fans will be in heaven when that comes out. Lastly don't forget Mario Maker its going to be great fun making courses and uploading them to see if the worlds best can work their way through what you made. So rest easy everyone. Its going to be OK. Nintendo will still be bringing us fun games along with its IndiePartners. I think good times are on the way you just be patient and wait as Nintendo will say soon. Peace onto your gaming!
Must haves for me are:
Blast Ball is just a mode in Federation Force...
