Re: Donkey Kong Bananza's Next DLC In-Game Event Swings Into Action Next Week

Monkeido

@Metazoxan As I said, I don't know why you bring Pokemon into this, because it is indeed a different situation, as you basically explained yourself. So lets not compare apples to oranges..

In the end there's just no denying Nintendo introduced timed events/awards to DLC for a game that had been out for only three months. You can defend that if you want, acting like companies should employ any scummy tactic to extract more money, but I held Nintendo in higher regard. Sure, they charge a lot for simple remakes and such, but at the end of the day you pay decent money for an amazing game and you can always (try to) wait for a sale.

And yes, FOMO is always a bad word, especially when it comes to digital content, that could easily be available at all times. It's a marketing ploy and apparently you're falling for it and for some reason are even defending it.

@Metazoxan I'm a major Nintendo fanboy, but I can't believe the amount of defending you're doing. How many games even have DLC out within the first three months of release? And when they do, most people complain about it, which to me makes sense, especially when it introduces events you can miss out on.

At least as far as we know now. It could obviously always be they repeat the events later on, but seeing as we can only judge how it is right now, they're just praying on FOMO, which to me is the main problem. And no idea why you're bring Pokemon into this, when that's a whole different situation.

Also it's pretty funny to me how you call people "kid", even though the way you type seems like a ranting 14 year old.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza's Next DLC In-Game Event Swings Into Action Next Week

Monkeido

@Pillowpants Couldn't agree more. I've owned the game since launch, but it didn't really grab me, so I've barely made any progress yet. And so obviously haven't bought the DLC yet either.

I actually thought Nintendo was always better than this, but I guess that's now changing as well.

I don't even really care the event is only available when you buy the DLC, but adding FOMO events like this to DLC so shortly after release feels pretty scummy.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced For Super Mario's 40th Anniversary

Monkeido

I can't deny the Mario part was fantastic. Was I hoping for a new 3D Mario? Yes, definitely, but what we got was still pretty great for a Mario fan. Overpriced as it may be, these are two of the best games ever made and if you already own/played them and don't want them on Switch? No one's forcing you to buy them. I however can't wait to go through these fantastic games again in a much higher resolution and frame rate!

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Announces Version 1.7 Update

Monkeido

I absolutely adore Stardew Valley and had a great time playing it by myself and doing a replay with my wife a few years later, but I honestly wish he would just leave the game alone and have complete focus on his new ventures. But at the end of the day, it's his choice and more power to him!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Harvest Moon (SNES)

Monkeido

Even though the European cover is the prettiest to me, it gives off some creepy vibes which to me doesn't jive with the actual game. That's why I voted for the US cover, because the barn looks more fitting to me than the grassy hills and (farm?)house of the Japanese cover.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Gets Smashing New Commercial

Monkeido

The DKC trilogy are some of my favourite games of all time, so I should be hyped about a new Donkey Kong game, but especially this commercial really doesn't do it for me. I hope it's going to be a good game, but NoA's (I'm assuming it's them) marketing is really bad in this case..

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Jet Set Radio (Dreamcast)

Monkeido

There's an almost infinite amount of Nintendo box-art to choose from, yet we've gotten Dreamcast twice now, why exactly? And why does only Dreamcast apply, or are we suddenly going to get Playstation box-art as well at some point?

Re: Palworld Dev Announces "Disappointing" Game Changes Resulting From Nintendo's Lawsuit

Monkeido

Is this even a lawsuit from Nintendo or the Pokemon Company? Because that wouldn't be the same thing, yet people put all the blame on Nintendo.

Also, I was following Palworld for ages before it came out, because I also enjoyed playing their previous game (Craftopia), even though like Palworld it got boring after like 30-40 hours, which wasn't bad value tbh.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make, is that it always looked like Pokemon with guns to me and that was pretty much their whole selling point, yet people don't see this game as plagiarism? I don't know the complete gist of the lawsuit, but that doesn't mean the creators of Palworld are some innocent victim.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

Monkeido

5/10, Switch 2 itself looks nice, but the first party games were a bit lackluster. Mario Kart World looked great, but that was basically it. Being able to play games I've already played a year or more ago doesn't excite me either. I guess the From Software game could be a great exclusive, though I felt you didn't get shown enough and it'll probably go multiplatform a few months down the line.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Doesn't Want To 'Close The Book' On Its Development

Monkeido

@Yosti Didn't you just say you have BotW "complete" on cartridge, even though it also got updates and patches after its release? Oh well, agreee to disagree and the defense was really only meant to tell you it's an amazing game worth buying without the little patches/updates it got after release (just like BotW ).

FYI, even though I already own a release copy of BotW, I still bought a Japanese copy of BotW that includes the DLC, so I am someone who prefers having everything on the physical cartridge as well, it's just not always necessary and/or feasible.

Edit: Now also see your comment above mine and hope you don't think I'm being toxic. You should obviously do whatever you see fit and there are too many good games out there to play all of them anyway. I just thought you should know that the original release didn't need any extra content (or fixes), so it was already complete.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Doesn't Want To 'Close The Book' On Its Development

Monkeido

@Yosti In his defense, the game is complete on the cartridge. These updates mostly add little extras, but I only ever played the original release and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mostly saying this, because I think it's shame if you'd miss out on a great game, which it seems like you're interested in, just over not having all the little updates on the cartridge.

Even something like BotW got updates/fixes after release, but I'm going to guess you still own that as well.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Mega Man Zero 3

Monkeido

@Takoda I quite like the EU one.. except for, indeed, the eyes. Makes him look like a chameleon or something. ^^'

My vote went to Japan, the box-art just kept getting better as I was scrolling down the page.
