Those of you expecting a fully-blown Animal Crossing game at this year's E3 may be disappointed, as Nintendo has announced Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival - a board-game style game which brings to mind the Mario Party series.
The four amiibo leaked previously will launch alongside the game.
Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival launches this Holiday season. How do you feel about this one? Sound off in the comments below.

A Mario party-ish title? What, Party 10 wasn't enough?
It will be more fun with the wife and kids and friends. I'm going to have to buy a lot more Amiibo.
My wife was pretty disappointed as she was really hoping for a real Animal Crossing U announcement. Considering how disappointing the past couple Mario Party games have been we're not thrilled by this at all.
Man, very disappointing. This was one of the surprise games for Wii-U?
Exactly what I want. More Amiibo when I can't find the current ones.
What an E3. SO MUCH DISSAPOINTMENT!!!
I...I...words can't express my deep sadness right now. Not anger. Just very, very deep sadness.
I saw Isabelle walking out of the train station and I shouted "ANIMAL CROSSING U!" Then I was extremely surprised (in a bad way) by this. sigh
Please help this just be a spin off! PLEEEEAAASE!
I thought this was a proper Animal Crossing Wii U game when it first came on. Needless to say I'm utterly disappointed. The AC amiibo look really nice though, of course they'll all probably sell out 30 minutes after going up for pre order.
I was really excited for a second. Just a thought could this simply not have been added to a real Animal Crossing game as an extra thing to do rather than be a stand alone title?
I kind of liked the look of this... what?
will buy all the AC amiibo, not cards though.
The only redeeming feature of this is that no one was expecting it. Ha!
WTH is this???
This looks like Mario Party with none of the fun and mini games, with Amiibo functionality that I fail to understand the need of. And for some reason it's also Animal Crossing. It's baffling and entirely underwhelming.
The disappointment is palpable. I don't even own a WiiU (sorta regretting that now), but I can feel the disappointment. It is almost like bait and switch (new WiiU Animal Crossing game/party game). Akin to the Sony Final Fantasy VII debacle last E3, but maybe even worse. Sony has corrected that mistake now, so here's hoping that Nintendo does the same.
I am with many others that have previously commented. Usually, I tend to keep my expectations low.. but I had hoped for an Animal Crossing U reveal. >_< Seeing this, my heart plummeted when I saw the board markers on the pathway. I'm not sure how I feel about this game-- but, it's definitely not excitement or anticipation. Such an underwhelming game reveal..
THANKS NINTENDO, NOW I GET TO GO HOME AND TELL MY MOTHER THAT THERE WON'T BE A NEW MAIN SERIES ANIMAL CROSSING GAME FOR Wii U. THANKS.
Seriously though, this was the most disappointing E3 presentation that Nintendo has had in recent memory.
The animal crossing game for 3ds should have come to wii u, and the wii u party crap should have went to 3ds, gotta say I was very unimpressed by this one. Nintendo surprised me alot this e3...but not exactly all in a good way (metroid and animal crossing was kinda the HUGE upsets for me)
So no Animal Crossing OR Metroid for the WiiU then? How about a Paper Mario, or Galaxy 3, or F-Zero? All games that everybody wants and they didn't deliver a single one. Unless they surprise us with more reveals later on, this e3 was utter garbage.
I think this will be free to download... but require AC amiibo to play?
No way any one would buy this game AND amiibo figures...
Yeah, this is very underwhelming.
It looks like a pacified Mario Party and that seems to miss the point.
The amiibo however will sell like hotcakes.
Soooo disappointed.
i am soooo disappoint at this, i really thought it was a Wii U Animal Crossing main game,
,maybe they well share something about it during treehouse, but i doubt it.
We already have Wii Party U, Mario Party 10... and Rabbids Land. This is so unecessary.
This game doesn't even make any sense...
So it's just a board game, no interactive minigames, just random board space events, and you need 4 specific amiibo to play? That's it?!
=/
It could be free to download... just to sell amiibo... then real AC game can be announced and a ton of amiibo will be out there...
But AC belongs on handheld anyway.
Looks like half-*sssed filler.
@DBPirate you and me both Pirate....you and me both
I was all geared up to surprise my wife with an AC game on the Wii U that we both can play, and Mother 3 on the VC after the surprise of Mother 1 yesterday.
I would have been happy with one of the two. We got neither. Thanks Nintendo.
nintendo broke my heart today so many disappointments ;(
I was most looking forward to Animal Crossing U; the timing couldn't be better, y'know? I saw Isabelle pop up out of the ? Block and was instantly excited, and then they started talking about the lame home designer. I felt a bit disappointed, but then they showed Wii U footage for an Animal Crossing game! Isabelle walked out of the train station, and I was really getting hyped, and then I saw weird tiles on the ground. My reaction was as follows:
"What are tho-- No... NO..."
Well, at least we have a Wii U Animal Crossing. I just wish it wasn't Monopoly. Home Designer doesn't look so lame anymore...
What is this even???!!
There doesn't even seem to be any mini games in this?? It's just a regular board game, isn't it?
GOOD GRIEF.
This is the moment when a bad Direct just turned plain unbearable. So furious about this, I can't even put into words.
I could not be any more disappointed... Animal Crossing U was the ONLY thing I was hoping for at E3 this year and instead we get another lame party game. Where did they even get this idea? Animal Crossing is mostly a relaxed, personal, single-player experience; why would they turn that into a competitive, multi-player game that's just going to turn friends against other friends much like Mario Party is famous for?
AGH!
This is just a slap in the face, well more like a punch in the face. I really hope Nintendo wanted to disappoint people, because I can't see how they could expect any other reaction.
...Y'know, that corner over there looks like the perfect place to cry in.
I unfortunately bought Mario Party 10. I will not make the same mistake and buy this game. NO THANK YOU.
Maybe if it had some of the strategic values the first couple Mario Party games had. Mario Party 10 is probably the worst game I bought in years!
Oh, I think I am the only person who likes the look of this... I mean I am still annoyed that they didn't announce a Wii U main game but tbh I'd rather have this, wait another year and get a more developed main game than get the main game released in a few months and find that it is a glorified New Leaf port.
Though since I don't really have any friends who will play this with me so I hope they have an option to play vs three npcs, either that or I'll play against myself like the sad child I am...
This looks like (The game of life board game) than anything else....sniffles make sense since Animal crossing is a life sim. A testing ground for an eventual animal crossing main game? sniffles Maybe?
@Tsurii I feel your pain. My day hasn't been too good either. And how this game is going to be isn't making it any better.
@shigulicious There is a new Paper Mario game. It's a paper mario X mario and luigi crossover and it looks fantastic.
I thought this game was going to be a normal Animal Crossing game for a moment. I'm not at all interested in this Mario Party style game
I will say that the more they show of the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for 3DS, the better it seems to me. I might actually pick that up, maybe not a "day one" buy for me (unless there's a preorder special or something), but.. I might actually set aside some of my budget for it. Again..this game..ugh. I'll only keep a small hope that Nintendo will decide to announce that it's just an extension or add-on for the actual AC Wii U game-- in an attempt to incorporate more amiibo use for the franchise.
Why another Mario Party when the last few have been disappointments themselves? Why would they center it around amiibo when they can't even keep them in stock? A normal Animal Crossing for the Wii U would've been a big hit to fans and then they throw this pile of crap at the Wii U owners. I just don't get it.
Meh... I mean it looks like a good attempt to turn Animal Crossing into a board game, but I'd rather, you know, play Animal Crossing. The amiibo are cool though
Hahaha, I'm sorry but AC fans were trolled so hard with this I can't help but laugh. I was watching E3 with three of my friends and none of them had disappointed reactions.
I've said this before but if you've played one AC title you seen it all.
@umegames Let's forget this. It all never happened.
No "real" animal crossing and no mario golf. Why?
No "real" animal crossing and no mario golf. Why?
It kind of says it all the Mario Party 10 wasn't even in the presentation last year - there was so much in that E3 Event then that of course there wasn't room for a simple party game.
"May be disappointed"
I'M LIVID!
A waste of programming time. Animal Crossing:Amiibo Festival = amiibo cash cow rip off.
I thought this was a cute spin off of AC. I'd be more at home with this than a Mario Party game
So disappointed.
My wife and I knew animal crossing would surface on Wii U today so when we saw the beautiful 3d models of Isabelle and K.K. by the train station we were stoked. Then came the "are those ... board game spaces???"
Then it was all ruined. Even from the footage though this is like a dumb version of candy land. You land on a space and see what happens. Way to go Nintendo, baby's first board game once again.
I WILL NOT pay for this game until I see it for $20 on some bargain bin shelf.
I was so sure there would be a Wii U AC. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the board game spaces. I only half-watched the rest of the event after that. It was obvious they had nothing new.
Wow...that's a lot of dislikes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GIveAP_wtg
This was by far one of the most personally disappointing sections of a Nintendo E3 I've seen.
What the heck, guys? This game looks like a lot of fun! Are you really that interested in what would most likely be a port of ACNL to Wii U? I'm really looking forward to seeing how features of Animal Crossing are incorporated into the party genre with this game, myself!
Can't wait for this game, watched the big 3, liked N's the Best because others had stuff in it that ruined the whole confrence for me.
That plus earthbound Nindies@home and smash dlc
Isabelle, Totakeke, -and- Nook as amiibo? I'm game. But...Mable? Or rather, -just- Mable? I'm a Sable kinda guy, personally... But then, I'd also be lined up to buy a Shrunk figure. shuffles
As much as I love Nintendo, I really can't stand them at the moment.
Way to use your resources on crap like this..
Why do we need other party Game? What were they thinking!
Scrap this rubbish make animal crossing game we actually want!
I have a feeling that this will have abysmal sales. Nobody asked for this. So why even create it?
Amazon has a preorder page up for this garbage with a price tag of $59.99. That obviously could be wrong, but the fact this will cost anything at all is shameful.
This wasn't just a slap in the face to Animal Crossing fans, but more like a stab in the heart.
And that YouTube video trailer.
(Amiibo) "Lighting effect added." disclaimer.
Nintendo must think we are all morons.
Biggest E3 disappointment? Yeah.
Sigh. So bummed at the moment. I had looked forward to a real AC game for the WiU. This is beyond disappointing. What were they thinking? i still have the original WI and was going to buy the WiU just for this game had it been a real AC game. And the silly little plastic toys. Really Nintendo! Someone didn't do very well on marketing research on this one.
I never bought Mario Party 10 because I'm burned out on Mario Party and don't like the direction they've taken the series lately. I'll probably pick this up because I like Animal Crossing and I like amiibo. So you all can just crucify me now.
First, I was let down hearing there is a new console in the works. I feel like I JUST bought the Wii U (and spent a lot on it) and have been waiting patiently for some good games. Then I hear they are making a new console.... Now, I hear no AC game for the Wii U, just this. Ugh. I wanted to cry!!! I still play city folk on my old Wii because I don't like it on the hand held device. I don't even own a 3ds. Plus, I really don't understand this Amiibo thing. Why are they so popular? I am an adult, I don't want toys, I want games! And when I try to buy an Amiibo to see what it is all about they are never in stock. Nintendo is really letting me down lately.
yes four more amiibos that many people will not be able to get, rendering the game unplayable. Great job Nintendo, release more amiibo despite the distribution problems with it. Kudos.
This was probably the lowest point of E3 for Nintendo. No one knows anything about the game yet but from the looks of it, it's a board game that requires special amiibo. Honestly who even wants this? It's the most brazen attempt at milking a franchise that I've seen in a long time. I don't understand how the Metroid Federation thing is getting so much hate when there's this sitting in the background. Whatever, I guess if it ends up being just a small eshop game or something then it's not a big deal.
I'm on the fence about this one. I'm disappointed it's not a main Animal Crossing title but at the same time I know I'll still enjoy playing it for what it is? I'd love to see more of it but from some of the screen grabs it looks like it'll still have all those cute/sometimes bizarre conversations and situations that was lacking in New Leaf. It looks like a mini game departure from the main Animal Crossing series that would be a nice accompaniment to a new main title and the addition of Happy Home Designer.
Also the placeholder price here in Aus is $99 including the Isabelle and Digby Amiibo - I'm taking it with a grain of salt because that's pretty damn steep.
Nintendo better have a lot of duck tape because they have broken every Animal Crossing lovers heart. They are gonna realize what a big mistake they made when this game comes out because it wont sell like i bet they are hoping it will. I am not gonna buy it i already have mario party. Bad move nintendo really bad move. smh
You know, this is on my list and I will buy it no matter how much hate this gets. I'm a Animal Crossing fan since Gamecube and I played since then every Animal Crossing game... and I will not miss this one or those cute Amiibos ^u^
Maybe the game is just the excuse to sell the amiibos.
I was going to buy it, but after finding out there is no online play, I'm not going to. All I can say is that they better come out with a "Real" Animal Crossing for the WiiU before they come out with a new system, or I am going to be very unhappy. Nintendo has been totally dropping the ball the last couple of years.
@svelure I hear you about the reports of a new system, I will be very upset!!! But I do play New Leaf on the 3DS, it is a great game, but I had to wait almost 4 years for it.
@Moshugan Apparently there are mini games.
