Re: Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Unveiled by Ubisoft at E3 2017

Monkeido

I was very sceptical about this title, but there's no denying this looks like quality work, whether this type of game is your cup of tea or not. I'll definitely be buying this, even though I don't care for XCOM type games that much, it just seems like a game made by passionate people and I feel Ubisoft deserves some love for supporting Nintendo.

That they re-included pointer controls (which in my opinion worked fantastically well on the Wii) guarantees I'll buy it again. The fact it's just a totally amazing game doesn't hurt either.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off New Area in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I mostly care about the framerate on the Switch version, though if the Wii U version releases earlier, I doubt I can restrain myself. Being mostly a PC gamer, the framedrops are definitely noticeable, but the worst drop was when the camera was panning out at the start, for the rest it seems serviceable to me. Obviously we would all prefer a steady framerate of at least 30FPS and maybe Nintendo will be able to downgrade some of the effects on Wii U before release to get there [most of the time], but for now it still seems like a really enjoyable game. And as a bunch of people have said before me, as long as the Switch version doesn't have the same issue, though I understand if you're not planning to buy a Switch, that won't be much of help to you.

Re: Digital Foundry Assesses the Technology and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Monkeido

We've already gotten 1080p screenshots of BotW, so chances are it'll run in 1080p on the NX. Of course expecting 60FPS is unrealistic and not at all necessary, even on NX.. and this is coming from a PC gamer who is used to playing all games at 60FPS. Consoles are a different story and unless you want the NX to cost 1000+ bucks, there's no point even wanting 60FPS.

Now framerate drops are a whole other story and you can expect those to be (virtually) gone in the NX version, but I doubt they'll ever be able to get them ironed out for the Wii U version, especially if they still have to add villages and [unique] NPCs.

@PlutoPerson http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/the-size-of-hyrule-area-comparison.188648711/
If that thread is anything to go by, it'd be 11,466 KM² (TP's mapsize times 12) and from what I read XCX is apparently 400 KM², so about 35 times bigger. No idea how accurate the numbers from that thread are though. For reference: Skyrim is 39 KM², The Witcher 3 is 136 KM² and Red Dead Redemption is 41 KM². So basically XCX's map is insanely huge.

I hope the numbers from that thread are wrong, since it'd mean Zelda: BotW isn't even 1/3 of Skyrim. Most likely he won't be far off though, but at least we can hope for a more meaningful and 'gameplay-filled' world.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Key Goals to Ensure NX Success

"We've announced that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be coming out on both Wii U and the NX. Released at the same time for both."

Am I the only one who didn't know this yet? I kinda figured the NX version would launch at a later date. At least now I know that whenever we get a release date for Zelda, we'll know exactly when the NX is releasing and vice versa.

Re: Nintendo is Getting Into the Movie Business

Monkeido

I'd love to see Nintendo make anime movies of their franchises (like they did for Animal Crossing), though perhaps anime isn't popular enough in the West.. even though Pokémon kinda contradicts that, but that might be a unique case.

Re: More Official Pokémon Go Gameplay Details Emerge

Monkeido

I never quite got why the haven't made the wrist-strap a round Pokéball, without the weird 'dripping' underside. Dunno which other Pokémon gadget also looked like that, but I remember seeing it before and back then also thinking it looked weird.

Re: Missingno is Still in the Virtual Console Releases of Pokémon

Monkeido

Lol, there are actually people complaining about this? It's pretty much impossible to come across this glitch without actively trying to and yet you would opt for it to be removed? While there are plenty of others who love that it's still there and it doesn't hurt anybody who doesn't. Some people.. x_x

Re: Eiji Aonuma on the Idea of Giving Link a Voice

Monkeido

Like one of my other favourite game series, Half-Life, I actually quite like the fact the protagonist is a mute. Sure it might just be a left over from older times, but I don't see any reason to change it now. Wouldn't at all be against other NPCs talking though (as it is in the Half-Life series). And like @Denngar said, bad voice acting can ruin a game, while having Nintendo's signature grunts and squeals does not.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2016

Monkeido

Since Fire Emblem Fates doesn't have a release-date for Europe yet, I picked Bravely Second, because I'm pretty much equally excited about those two games.

Also getting the old Pokémon games, of course. ^^

Re: Minecraft Finally Digs Its Way Onto the Wii U eShop on 17th December

Monkeido

So this really is the 'big news' that was coming today? Quite disappointing. Not that I don't like Minecraft, but since I've played it years ago on the PC and haven't played it for years now, I'm not really tempted to go back to it on a console that doesn't have mod support (and makes you pay for textures you could download for free on the PC).

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival (Wii U)

Monkeido

I was devastated when this game was first announced, since the rumours were that an actual Animal Crossing HD was going to be announced, but instead we got this piece of... Anyway, every time I see this title mentioned, it reminds me of how I felt when that happened, which wasn't/isn't great.

Goes back to playing New Leaf

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd July (North America)

Monkeido

Can't Nintendo-Life go after Nicalis and ask them what is taking them so long to release games in Europe? Cave Story+ took almost two years to reach Europe, 1001 Spikes still isn't here and I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to be months (if not years) before BoI:Rebirth hits the European Eshop..

Hell, not even Edmund acknowledges or replies to all the people asking about an European release, even though a lot of them (like me) have supported him from start and bought multiple copies to share with others. Just knowing why it takes so long and/or how long it will possible take for it to release in Europe would be enough for me.
