A day later than is custom, we finally have the European Nintendo Download Update details to pore over. It's a week with one particularly notable DLC pack on Wii U to be excited about, along with some Virtual Console offerings, a special Kirby-themed promotion ahead of the arrival of Kirby and the Rainbow Painbrush, and more discounts besides.
Wii U Virtual Console
Mario Kart Super Circuit (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) - Two of this game's tracks have been remastered for the latest MK8 DLC, but now racing fans in Europe can head a little closer to completing their collection of these racing games. This was the first portable Mario Kart game and went for a similar look to Super Mario Kart, doing a decent job in the process. Though this version lacks any multiplayer support we gave it a reasonable recommendation in our Wii U Virtual Console Mario Kart Super Circuit review.
Street Gangs (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — This attempts to blend basic beat 'em up action with some simple RPG elements, as you bash in faces while buying items to help you on your way. It's basic and linear but also a lot of fun, while local multiplayer is an option; if you want to know more check out our 3DS Virtual Console Street Gangs review. This is the US version of the game.
Wii U DLC
Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 2 (Nintendo, €8.00 / £7.00 or included in a season pass) - Featuring eight new tracks, three new characters (including boy and girl Villager variations) and four vehicles, this pack throws in cross-overs with Animal Crossing and F-Zero along with more all-new tracks and classic re-imaginings. A 200cc update will also be available to all for free. You can check out our hands on impressions of the full DLC pack for more details.

At last!
what was the reason for the delay? there isnt anything special here that warrents a delay
I've got the season pass, so Mario Kart of course, but that's a great deal on Tetrobot and I did have it on my watch list, so I'll get that as well.
MK8 of course. I've never played a Kirby game but I guess it's the right time to suck in to Kirby's D-Land. I need to fill up that Pink folder anyway (Red folder: Mario games, Green:Zelda, Yellow: DK, Orange:Metroid, Blue:Megaman, Purple:Castlevania, Black:mature games).
Oh yeah, mario kart dlc
What reason for delay?
Not special apart Mario kart DLC?
It says up there we're getting the US version of Street Gangs...so shouldn't that be River City Ransom then?
I hope so, after Capcom and/or Nintendo were kind enough to apply the upgrade discount to Contra III for those who had bought Probotector before.
WILD CARD PREDICTION: Mario Kart 64 will show up in six months time, the same day Mario Kart 8 gets DLC for new battle modes and arenas.
Some tempting stuffs, but I'll probably download only the MK8 DLC.
I almost forgot that the new Kirby game is coming XD Sorry pink marshmellow, but I have no intention to buy your game at launch and those discounts are nice, but not mind-changer >O>
I still want to get a hard copy of Kirby's Adventure Wii before splashing out on the eShop release. Perhaps I should just stop being so damned superficial and settle for the download. =P
I'll probably download Kirby's Adventure Wii and I have the MK8 season pass purchased so I'll obviously be downloading that as well (and I'm particularly excited about the new amiibo outfits as they look awesome). While I'm by no means hot on Pac-Man, I love the animated Pac-Man amiibo outfit.
@Marshi @Tate24
Remember guys, it wasn't a delay of the eShop update, but only of the press release. The eShop updates in Europe on Thursday, just as in the US. The difference is that we get the press release usually three days in advance on Monday. That's for various reasons not always the case, though.
Already bought the DLC long ago, so going to vote for one of the Kirby 3DS discounts.
Im getting Tetrobot & Co. Seemed like reasonable buy even with full price, so why not add this to my backlog.
Bought season pack for mariokart So already purchased.
Might end up getting Kirby wii though
already bought the 2 pack dlc for mk8 so that's taken care of already. Mk:super circuit has to be bought asap after I've whined on here for ages about Europe still waiting. Get paid on Friday so that'll be my treat, might even go crazy and get mk:ds to complete the collection in one swoop.
Yes, finally some Virtual Console after two empty weeks
I'm picking up Street Gangs, Kirby's Adventure Wii and Nightmare in Dreamland (already have Dreamland 1-3). And of course the Mario Kart DLC since I have the season pass.
Btw, if it's the US version of Street Gangs, shouldn't it be called River City Ransom?
So, if "Street Gangs" is actually the US version, i buy a game called Street Gangs and end up with one called "River CIty Ransom" ?
Oh boy 10% off Kirby and the Rainbow Curse...or I could just buy the disc version for £25.
@Einherjar Sadly they edited the title screen on the 3DS so that will probably carry over. Also Yoshi here in Europe had the title screen edited to be Mario & Yoshi.
For your oddities you need to buy Super Probotector in Wii mode and get the upgrade fee for Contra 3 on the eShop.
MK8 DLC for me. Currently i am getting 3 Stars on every Cup. Only missing 4 Cups in Mirror Mode right now. After that i will be ready for the DLC.
@Starwolf_UK Now that you mention it, youre right O.o
But now im even more curious, why they went the extra mile for some of these obscure games, and some of Nintendos most high profile titles were just released as the regular, non-localised versions over here.
Like Mario Power Tennis or Golden Sun. Both saw very well made localisations over here back in the day. Mario Power Tennis even featured localised voice clips, which is an absolute rarity, especially for handheld games. On the WiiU, they simply released the US versions, although im not aware that the GBA was still a console, where PAL and NTSC version differed in timing like they did on the NES.
Mario Kart DLC for me.
I highly recommend Tetrobot and Co. to anyone that loves puzzle games!
I live in North America but I'm definitely getting the Mario Kart 8 DLC
@Sinister I got my last two mirror mode cups triple starred last week, I'm ready for Thursday! Have fun
The MK8 DLC and Super Circuit. Hoping the update reveals even more DLC to preorder.
Any chance that this increases the odds of Murica getting Return to Dreamland in the eshop? MK8 DLC will make me put down MH4U. Gonna scan the new amiibo outfits and race in 200cc!!!
No new downloads whatsoever on the 3DS. Again.
Not even a demo or any meager piece of DLC.
It just doesn't pay for anyone to be a 3DS owner without also owning a Wii U.
I already paid for the Mario Kart 8 season pass. Money is tight right now so I will only be upgrading Street Gangs from the Wii Virtual Console. Will eventually get Mario Kart: Super Circuit but will probably have to wait for another sale to get Kirby Adventure Wii.
@shigulicious That, Donkey Kong, Pandora's Tower, Metroid or Golden Sun... I'm still waiting to finish the other half of the Golden Sun Story... NoA Releases the first half, everywhere else releases the second half and were stuck only seeing half the story
Tetrobot looks a bargain at that price
Great week! I'll be busy with the MK DLC and other things, so nothing for me at the moment, though the Kirby sales are interesting. And I may get MK SC sooner or later, as I played it only briefly back then (however, I'd be happier to see Konami Krazy Racers arriving on the VC which is perhaps not impossible).
Street Gangs is one of the greatest games on the NES and Shenmue-ans – yes, Shenmue-fans – should definitively check it out if they still haven't done so.
Will be buying Mario Kart add on this week and the kirbys discounts for wii u and 3ds. As if I didn't realise you could pay for both mario kart dlc as I bouget the first one months ago but when I saw the price for both I assumed you had to wait till the second one was released, although I could have sworn I tried clicking it and it was greyed out or summit.

Nothing interesting, but thanks to a dumb friend, I have the MK8 season pass, so I'll see how that pack fares.
Wonder why Dedede's Drum Dash isn't on special... that's the one that I might have actually considered.
Had to go for the MK8 dlc because it's free (prepaid) but I'll be picking up Super Circuit at the same time.
Woohoo MK8 DLC! YEAH!
Mario Kart 8 DLC for me. And hopefully Mewtwo on Super Smash Bros too. Nintendo haven't bothered sending me my Mewtwo codes yet, and haven't so far answered my emails. Looks like I'll have to phone them and have a rant.
I payed for all MK 8 DLC last year, so its wrong to vote on that.
I'm getting Tetrobot on sale.
Not even in Europe but I voted for the MK8 DLC! Thursday can't come soon enough!
@ToneDeath Pretty reasonable prediction actually.
I'ml pick up Super Circuit. I got quite excited by the Kirby title's being on sale, but then saw it's not all of them. I already have all the Dream Land games, and also Kirby's Adventure so don't see the point in getting the GBA remake. Would have loved to pick up Amazing Mirror though.
All I've thought about is the MK8 DLC 2 since the last one. Dissapointed with the Kirby 10% discount, Paintbrush is as cheap as £26.95 retail!
This is quite a disappointing selection. There's not any brand new games at all this week. If I ever get round to playing Mario kart 8, I'll likely get the DLC.
Mario Kart DLC has already been paid so I'll get that and I might buy Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland and/or Kirby Fighters Deluxe.
I've been playing Kirby's Adventure recently so I wouldn't start Nightmare in Dreamland for a while and to enjoy Kirby Fighters Deluxe I would need a friend who also has the game (download play is quite limited) and I'd most likely end up playing Smash Bros. instead.
With MK8 secured and paid for months ago, I can happily splash out on Kirby Adventure Wii. I knew the waiting game would pay off eventually...
@ToxieDogg
@Grumblevolcano pointed out you should login to Nintendo website and you can find the codes on the club Nintendo page in the second slide. That's where I found mine. Nintendo replied to my complaint just yesterday and pretty much said the same thing.
Mario Kart 8 DLC which is already paid for and probably Nightmare in Dreamland.
That is a killer price for Tetrobot & Co., you'd have to be mad or outside of Europe not to take advantage of it.
Yay more Kirby and MK8 tracks for me, can never have too much Kirby in your life.
@AlexOlney fully agreed i have it on Steam but at this crazy price for Wii U im gonna have to take the plunge.
KORG
Ahh Kirby's Dream Land 3 originally used an on board cart Chip for the SNES:
The Super Accelerator 1 (SA1) chip is used in a number of SNES games, including the popular Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.[12]
Similar to the 5A22 CPU in the SNES console, the SA1 contains a processor core based on the 65C816 with several programmable timers.[2] The SA1 does not function as a slave CPU for the 5A22; both can interrupt each other independently.
The SA1 also features a range of enhancements over the standard 65C816:
Upgraded 10.74 MHz clock speed, up from a maximum of 3.58 MHz
Faster RAM, including 2KBytes of internal RAM
Memory mapping capabilities
Limited data storage and compression
New DMA modes such as bitmap to bit plane transfer
Arithmetic functions (multiplication, division, and cumulative)
Hardware timer (either as a linear 18-bit timer, or synchronised with the PPU to generate an IRQ at a specific H/V scanline location)
Built-in CIC lockout, for copy protection and regional marketing control
Poor Wallet... thought it would just be the Mario Kart DLC this week for me... but I'll probably get all the Kirby games that I'm missing off VC and Super Circuit too.
Aw wish king DEDEDE drum dash on 3DS had been on sale 😭
mario kart 8 DLC for me
Mario Kart 8 DLC and one of the Kirby games on 3DS for me.
MK8 DLC tournament already planed. I've also never played Kirby wii (only Kirby I've never played actually) so 15€ is fine with me..
@Starwolf_UK I thought they just ran the EU Rom at 60hz. (Which works when no optimization was done whatsoever).
Umm... Painbrush?
Wii Kirby discounted only after 2 months, that's a bit of a kick in the nadgers to anyone who got it 2 months ago.
Is the DLC in North America yet or are we awaiting Thursday? I hope we get a Wii game this week.
@VR32F1END The DLC is Thursday for everyone.
Is it Thursday yet? @-@
MK8 DLC Pack 2 for me ... considering Kirby Wii while it's discounted, some of the videos I've seen online look fantastic.
@outburst Thanks, man Nintendo still haven't gotten back to me with regards my email query, but I did as you suggested and they were on the site on my Club Nintendo account as you said. Just the Mario Kart DLC to wait for now then, looking forward to it
Can someone help me please? If I buy Kirbys adventure wii can i use the game pad to control it, is it full screen and can you have it on the game pad screen? Thank you
I hope NA sees a River City Ransom (Street Gangs) release this week too. It was the first NES game I owned do it will be an instabuy for me...
@Eight-Bit-Yoshi No, Kirby's Adventure Wii is Wii Remote sideways with some waggle controls only.
Already bought the MK8 double DLC pack last november so the update will be installed anyway. Gonna buy Kirby's Adventure Wii
If Australia gets these discounts, I just might get the KORG-DSN
@ToneDeath I sure hope you are correct, this would be awesome
Man, Tetrobot is highly recommended! Its sooo good!
Im so glad I bought both DLC packs, the Second one looks absolutely fantastic.
I have season pass for MK8, so I'll be playing that.
River City Ransom is one of the best games of all time, even when you call it Street Kings.
Somebody used KORG?
What can you say about it?
Because I can only choose one answer, I will be buying both Mario game and the Dlc.
Tomorrow, I'll download the second Mario Kart 8 DLC and Mario Kart: Super Circuit!
What time of day does stuff normal end up on the eshop?
@Flashman I don't know but it is not out yet. I can't wait. I am going to see Avengers with my friends then we are gonna play mario kart all night =P
eShop is saying "Now Available" where as Mario Kart says "Not Released".
@AceTrainerBean Ok I am really confused! The eShop says not only is the DLC available but I have purchased it. When I go onto Mario Kart it tells me that it hasn't been released yet. WTF?
