Re: Editorial: Nintendo's YouTube Creators Program 'Beta' Provides Vital Feedback - It Won't Work

Mikes

I seriously hope they look more into what they're doing — that is all. Initially hearing this, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Reading over their terms of service, I would never even want to try this. I'd rather stay with my current network, and I don't even like them that much. There are two things that were brought to my attention, and they bother me:

"In the event this agreement is terminated for any reason. . .you must immediately take down any Video and text related thereto."

Whoa. Even if we won't be receiving any revenue? All of that hard work would just be gone? You have a gameplay video that probably won't be monetized freely. What kind of reason is there for removal?

The list of specific games that may be used is a bit disappointing. There are many other games that are quite good, and it would be nice to upload gameplays on them and whatnot. Why not have them?

"[Do not] engage in any. . .objectionable conduct in relation to the Content or the Nintendo Creators Program"

That one kind of slightly irks me. I'd fear if it could ever become a silly case of "I'm offended! I don't like this!".
I'm just going to continue to observe people's take on this program. They have all the right to do this, but is this necessary? Think about all the other companies that allow things like this.

Re: YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Revenue-Sharing 'Creators Program'

Mikes

Wow, that's a lot of comments! I might as well add my two cents.
I've been a YT uploader for a couple of years now. I started monetization last year. Nintendo, of course, has all the right to do this, so I have no complaints there. Do I think it's a particularly good idea? When looking at what other companies do, I'm not feeling too hot about that.

If they want to take revenue from the views, then I understand. I wouldn't like it all that much, however. Monetization has been fairly helpful for me in terms of buying new Ninty games and then doing videos on those later (and 3DS games, I admit ). Generally, just being a YouTuber and doing what I do best has always been something I've enjoyed doing. I've met some awesome people over the years and have had cool experiences through uploading Ninty walkthroughs and whatnot. From the countless time spent from editing videos to responding to comments and whatnot — it's all awesome. They can throw money out of the equation and I'd still do it.

The only reason I can see myself taking a temporary halt on videos is if I get a certain amount of Content ID claims. Even though it's Nintendo, I'm still trying to remain cautious of the fact that they could decide to do copyright strikes instead without notice.

Sadly, I'm still in a network for about another year, so I couldn't test this out if I wanted to. Right now, I feel as if they should strongly consider what everyone is generally saying right now, because as I've seen so far, this isn't all that harmful.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X is so Sizeable That It Almost Needed More Than One Disc

Mikes

Oh boy. I seriously need to magically clear my game backlog before the NA release of this. There is no way I won't get engrossed in this, so I need to play it at my comfortable pace without any other games to worry about. Heck, if it's at least 300 hours, then I might take longer. I tend to unconsciously take longer finishing RPGs.
Oh, and if the online mode is what I think it would be, then there's no way this won't claim the rest of my gaming time for a while. At the least, I'd better finish Earthbound fast.

Re: Splatoon Updates Give More Insight Into Stages, Plaza and Item Stores

Mikes

Ahh, this is the game I've been excited for since its announcement! It's always great to see that people are liking the game.
Anyway, the central hub is looking pretty awesome. Personally, the stats tied to gear is a downside if I end up having gear that looks cool, but gives me stats I really dislike. Other than that, the customization is looking great!

Re: Poll: Nintendo's Year of Adventure on Wii U and 3DS Promises Hundreds of Immersive Gaming Hours

Mikes

Naturally, I'm excited for the new Zelda game. It looks amazing, and the larger areas already have me anxious to have the game in my hands.
However, Xenoblade Chronicles X has been something I've been very interested in. Unfortunately, I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles, so I'm hoping it'll pop up on the eShop. Even so, the world in X looks so beautiful, and so vast. I'm not even sure if I can describe the game with words. Right now, I'm simply waiting to see how it turns out in the end, but I have a weird feeling I'll love the game.

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 14th January, With Focus on Spring Releases

Mikes

@Obito_Sigma Luckily, I can watch it — if I wake up at 5 AM to get ready for school earlier. I might as well set my alarm clock.
For once, I don't have many things I really want them to show. I'd prefer to just go in with no expectations. However, Nintendo, you wanna know what will really make my day?
Starts with "Shin Megami Tensei" and ends with "x Fire Emblem".

Re: Retrospective: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - A Decade On

Mikes

Although not my first, but it's been my favorite Zelda game ever since I got it via the 3DS Ambassador Program. It's such an awesome game that I even forget from time to time that Capcom developed it.
Oh, and the music is pretty neat too. It's hard to forget the music in the Minish Village. ^^

Re: Happy New Year From All at Nintendo Life

Mikes

Ah, I always fail to stay awake once I get near 12 AM. I can hardly remember the fireworks. I even forgot to play New Leaf at that time. ^^'
Anyway, Happy New Years NintendoLife! Hopefully we all can have a better year than before.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2015

Mikes

Games that are a guaranteed purchase are Zelda, Splatoon, and Xenoblade Chronicles X. I'm sure I'll get most of what's on the list, but I don't want to go overboard with savings. I will be taking a look at Devil's Third, though. I haven't paid attention to it.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Pokémon Game?

Mikes

This should be interesting to see. No matter how I try, I can never seem to get into Pokemon. I have Black 2, but for some reason, I can't seem to get far without getting slightly bored. I've been thinking about getting one of the more recent games to get into, but maybe I should go with something different (according to the poll). I'm not giving up, either, because I've always heard the games are great, and I want to join the fun.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Smash Bros. Game?

Mikes

Dang, that's a tough decision! Every Super Smash Bros. is very interesting and unique in their own ways. I really like each one and still play them to this day!
Small gripes aside, Smash Wii U has loads of content that I seriously appreciate more than ever before! The huge amount of music, the better online modes that are offered, balancing that seems to be the best so far (considering its huge roster), FE:Awakening characters, beautiful visuals, and there's still more to come! It's clear the team has been working hard to provide the best they could.
64 has the classic, simple style I love, Melee still never gets old with its fast game-play, and Brawl gave me character interactions that my kid-self would always dream of. My favorite Smash game is probably a question I'll never be able to answer, but in terms of quality in comparison, Smash Wii U is the winner!

Re: Professional Super Smash Bros. Melee Player Talks Smash 4

Mikes

Rosalina & Luma's definitely in the group of stronger characters. A favorite Mario character being super good? Sweet.
"So that’s definitely Nintendo sort of appealing to casuals, but that takes away a huge aspect of trying to be strategic in that game."
I disagree. Sure, edge-hogging has gotten me free KOs at times, but when I think about it, it's not as strategic in comparison to the newer mechanic. You'll just have to adapt to it and find ways around it. Understand what works, what doesn't work, and get creative. As a matter of fact, I like it better. From all of the experience I've had, there are two things important to the new mechanic that can really help you out:
1. If they re-grab the ledge without getting hit or stepping on a platform, they won't have any invincibility.
2. You can purposely grab on to the ledge immediately after they do to force them off of it.
With these two things in mind, you won't believe how many KOs I've gotten. Ya just gotta think differently, and see how you can use your options. It is the only way you can tip the scales! Ahaha. Haha. Ah...

Re: The Father Of Video Games Ralph H. Baer Passes Away Aged 92

Mikes

Wow, that's unfortunate. Perhaps I'm too young, as I was not aware of his contributions to the gaming industry, but hearing about him now and what he did gives me some appreciation for him.
Please do rest in piece. I didn't know of your contributions until today, but they will be remembered.
