Re: Child of Light's Creative Director Paints a Picture of its Artistic Process

Mikes

How interesting — I was just thinking about this game in class today. I'm very pleased to hear it was profitable! It is overall one of my favorite games, and it even introduced me to a pretty awesome composer (Cœur de pirate). I would certainly love a sequel of sorts.
P.S: I still would have loved to have Valiant Hearts on the Wii U.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Confirms Majora's Mask 3D Has Been In Development Since 2011

Mikes

"So although we’ve been working on the game for quite some time, we didn't want to say it was being developed until we were at a point where we could proudly say that this is not going to be just another remake and that it's going to be worth your time."
That's great to hear. When I bought OoT 3D and finished it, I left feeling that a bit more could have been done with it, somehow. Now that I actually have to take better care of how I use money, I was indecisive a while ago about whether I should get this or not. For now, I'll just continue waiting to see what new features they show off.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Online Brawlers Reporting 136 Year Ban Glitch

Mikes

Wha?! Wow, that's nuts! Hopefully it gets fixed soon. I think I'll be fine, since I haven't gotten a ban or anything yet. I've had to try a bit hard sometimes to not quit matches with a ton of lag, though. I mean, you get infractions if you SD on purpose, exit the match, or not move at all, right?
@RedKnightXIII Little Mac's fine. I don't think he needs to be nerfed or anything. He's the best on flat stages, and unfortunately there aren't any platform stages in For Glory (which would have been nice), so you'll have to pay close attention and find other ways to get him. Always fight near the ledge, or somethin'.

Re: Video: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Opening Cinematic Revealed

Mikes

I'm waiting for the day I get the game to see it. I've spoiled myself quite enough!
I'm hearing it's just full of recycled clips and gameplay. Honestly, with all of the work and effort they already put in (especially with character trailers), I don't mind. I don't think I'd call it "lazy".

Re: Feature: Breaking Down Over 50 Must-See Things in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Mikes

I'm mostly excited for 8-Player Smash, the music options, and just about everything about the online modes. Words seriously can't describe how much I can't wait for the Wii U version! I really can't.
Heck, I've even been thinking on skipping out on a demo if they give one. That way, I keep my hype meter to its maximum and I can take joy in being awed when I finally slide that disc in.

Re: Mewtwo Returns to Super Smash Bros., Ridley and Metal Face Explained

Mikes

@Iggly Same here. This Direct is too much for my simple mind to comprehend.
It's really awesome that Mewtwo fans got what they really wanted. It's good to see that a lot of people are satisfied. I honestly can't get into Pokemon for the life of me, but I think I can look forward to Mewtwo.
In addition, I hope this may pave way for future characters to arrive. They have as much time as they can to work on 'em, too! Personally, I'm fully satisfied with the game's content already (that we know of), but I welcome anything that'll extend the game's life — not that I won't always play it to begin with!
On a side note, I wonder if Smashboards crashed at this announcement.

Re: Tourneys and Official Tourneys Giving Super Smash Bros. for Wii U a Competitive Edge

Mikes

@Jazzer94 sniff It's everything I ever dreamed of...
Jokes aside, this is really great news! I was seriously hoping that they'd do this so I wouldn't have to add friend codes for whoever I wanted to battle. Plus, I'm super excited about being able to play with the NL community again and NOT get my butt handed to me in Mario Kart.
This is the feature I've looked forward to the most, and I got it. Thank you so much, Nintendo!

Re: 8 Player Smash Mode Confirmed For Wii U Super Smash Bros.

Mikes

6, 7, and 8 players?! This is great! I mean, REALLY great news! I'm planning a Smash party for friends the day after the game releases, so with how many controller options we have, no one has to wait anymore! If we can still do Team Battles with 8 Player Smash, that'd be even better!

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS

Mikes

I feel that they'd do a bit more for the online play for the Wii U version (I hope). I'd rather not have voice chat for anonymous play, but playing with friends definitely should be an option for those who do. Personally, I don't care very much for voice chat.
I was also hoping that they'd do something like Mario Kart 8 communities, tournaments, and whatnot so you don't have to add people as friends just to play with them.
I agree with Lewis. I control things pretty normally most of the time, but I should be taking better care to not go overboard and mash the circle pad so much.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Live Nintendo Direct to Introduce "50 New Things"

Mikes

Oh, gee. What d'ya know? There's school on Thursday!
Oh, gee! Would you look at that? I had a dream that I'd be sick that day. I wonder if this means anything!
Seriously, though. It sucks that every single time there's some sort of live broadcast, it's either during school or a really inconvenient time. Usually it's hard for me to reach the finished video without coming across a quick glance of spoilers, either. I wonder if this has anything to do with my constant bad luck.

Re: Feature: Ari Pulkkinen's Quest to Turn the Volume Up on Game Music

Mikes

Great article! Video game music has always been an important thing to me. It's the only reason why I picked up the piano in the 7th grade. I spent a lot of time looking up Synthesia YouTube videos, and once I could play "Dire, Dire Docks" and a simplified "Frozen Hillside", my interest in playing other VGM on other instruments skyrocketed from there! I wouldn't call myself much of a composer right now, but now I tend to work on VGM renditions and even make my own stuff once in a while.
You know, I have hopes that VGM can someday become more accepted. I sort of try to spread that kind of fondness when I play at talent shows and stuff. It makes me happy when someone gets super surprised when I tell them the music came from a video game.
I probably haven't noticed much of Pulkkinen's work yet, so I'll probably listen later. I can't say I agree too much with his statements concerning the whole "hit-tracks = new audiences" thing, but I'd love to be able to buy soundtracks freely someday!

Re: Ubisoft To Release Petz Beach And Petz Countryside For The Nintendo 3DS

Mikes

Ah, I can already see it now...
"We decided that we are going back on 3DS exclusivity and porting these new iterations to the PlayStation Portable to maximize availability. Additionally, the 3DS versions will not receive the long awaited Scuba Diving and Battleship DLCs, so we are very sorry. Please know that we will work as hard as we can to make the 3DS versions the best ones!"
@sillygostly 11/10. Will remember forever.

Re: Gallery: Enjoy a Cuteness Overload in These Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Screens

Mikes

@JaxonH Whoops! Perhaps I should have been more specific. Sorry.
I meant the Wii U version. Believe me, that game comes before anything else — I've waited too long for it! I meant to say that the Wii U version shouldn't be the last game I buy this year, as I didn't plan on buying anything else because of so much money spending. Captain Toad is just capturing my interests more than before. ^^

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Release Dates Confirmed

Mikes

Awesome-sauce! After all of those things we saw that hinted towards its release on the 21st, I would have been surprised if it wasn't. I even marked my calender long ago.
It sucks that the rest are getting it on Dec. 5th, though. I don't think I can survive that long.
