Re: Bayonetta Confirmed as New Challenger in Super Smash Bros.

Mikes

She was a total surprise for me. I haven't played any Bayonetta game, but looking at her character already made me interested in them! She looks like she'll be seriously unique. I can't wait to try her in February.
Other than that, I'm glad we can finally put the Smash DLC speculation to rest. I didn't get the character I wanted, so it's over, but I'm pretty alright.

Re: Corrin Chooses to Fight in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

Mikes

That was a surprise. I recall Sakurai saying something like "The DLC characters from now on will be total fan service," so I wasn't expecting them to make a character from an upcoming game.
I haven't played Fire Emblem Fates or know much about the character, so I don't really feel attached to or excited for the character. Well, I know there were some people that wanted the character, so good for them!

Re: Nintendo of America Confirms Its Black Friday eShop Cyber Deals

Mikes

So far, I've been limiting myself this year as to what games to buy. I might go overboard for some of these, but I think I'll end up getting Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. I love the first game and kinda like the second, so this seems like a good opportunity!

I'd love to get Return to Dreamland and Mario Golf, though. Then again, I should probably prepare myself for Smash DLC with eShop cards. Gah, I'll just stick with Pirate's Curse and grab some eShop cards for Smash.
Then again, I had my eye on Human Resource Machine.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off a Few More Challengers in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

Mikes

I'm pretty much a Mario Tennis person. I have a lot of memories playing this with my mom.
With that said, oddly enough, I'm still not certain about buying this. Mario Tennis Open didn't really interest me as much as previous ones; I played it for a month or two 'till I totally stopped. I want to see more about this game besides new characters and the same gameplay. The Mega Mushrooms aren't very appealing to me as well, so I'd like to see something else.
@IceClimbers Yes! I've been waiting forever for another Mario Strikers! I wish they'd make a new one already.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Competitive Scene Gets Shaken Up as ZeRo is Finally Defeated

Mikes

Gee whiz. I don't know how some people complain about the toxicities of Smash communities, when I can't even remember a single NL article where competitive Smash and competitive players weren't bashed in some form. Heck, it took less than two comments before one of such nature even showed up. When these things do happen, it's almost always the same pointless, ignorant arguments all the time, too. It blows my mind. That's unfortunate.
Good job to both of the players for doing their best. There needs to be some positivity here, at least. Geez.

Re: Super Smash Bros. 'Digital Complete Pack' Combines Game and DLC for Wii U and 3DS

Mikes

@MoonKnight7 @wiggleronacid I feel similarly. I've gotten the three retro stages and all the characters so far, but when I look at the DLC now, I can only see the characters being the furthest I go. When I compare them to the MK8 DLC, they don't seem all that worth it. It doesn't work out too much in my favor, either, since I prefer to have them for tournament reasons. I wish they'd price things a little lower.

Re: Genei Ibun Roku #FE Japanese Release Date And Bundles Revealed

Mikes

I didn't think it'd be releasing so soon. Neat. Even now, I still wish it was what it seemed to be from the teaser trailer. FE crossing over with mainline SMT characters? Ah man, it would have been so awesome to see them team up and slay demons or somethin'. Ah, that would have been an instant-buy.
Anyway, yeah, I'm disappointed it doesn't seem to be going in that dark direction, but an Atlus game has never disappointed me so far, so I'm still keeping my eye on this.

Re: Mario History: Super Smash Bros. Melee - 2001

Mikes

Ah, I spent so much time playing Melee when I was a kid! I remember how my friend would always prefer to fight in teams, while I usually wanted Free-for-Alls. I remember how the cover used to have Mario vs. Bowser instead of the main one before I got a new copy. I remember that time when I unlocked Luigi, and woke my sister up just to tell her. I also remember the time where I thought I'd unlock Giga Bowser if I beat 'em. Good times! I wouldn't have cared much to play it as a high-skilled fighting game as a kid. I still suck in high-level play. Nevertheless, I somehow still know enough to take out my friends if I wanted to.

Re: Gorgeous Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition Confirmed for North America

Mikes

@rjejr Thanks for putting in some realism. The art book is pretty much the only thing I'm really interested in. I wouldn't use the rest.
This special edition is neat, anyway. Even if I really wanted it, I'm already trying to figure out whether I should get Mario Maker, Star Fox, and Woolly World, or drop a game. I'm getting Xenoblade X for sure, though. Maybe I'll let go of Star Fox Zero. I never really played much besides Star Fox 64, anyway.

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Future of Nintendo Direct and Beyond for Reaching Old and New Fans

Mikes

D'oh. I took a quick look at the picture and thought a new Nintendo Direct was coming.
Anyway, as you can see, I'd like them to continue doing directs. I don't see why not. Sure, it'll be really different without Iwata presenting them, but I'm sure they can manage. Nintendo Directs were ways of keeping me moderately excited for upcoming game releases. I'd be disappointed if they discontinued them.

Re: Nintendo's Awesome Super Mario Maker Overview Announces New Features

Mikes

Music creation?! Yesssss! It's now an instant buy!
Well, to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed it's only with note blocks. It would have been neat to have something like Mario Paint Composer. I guess that was too much of a dream. I suppose I can still make it work (eventually).
I'm not too much of a fan of waiting to get all of the features, but it's not that big of a deal for me.
I'd still prefer they gave us a composer tool, or somethin'. Custom music + custom levels = best way to express some creativity.

Re: Nintendo's Corporate Social Responsibility Report Outlines Company Goals, With amiibo a Focus

Mikes

Whoa. Those amiibo images seem a bit goofy.
"We must avoid a short-term outlook and always think about how we can make not only consumers, but also everyone involved with Nintendo, smile over the mid-to-long term."
It always brings a smile to my face to hear things like this. May Nintendo successfully move forward!
On another note, I'm actually still interested in the whole Quality of Life thing.

Re: Interview: 13AM Games on Getting Up to Speed With Runbow

Mikes

After reading this interview, the game has gone from a "maybe" to a "must buy". I haven't been paying enough attention to indie games, as I've been pretty busy with trying to finish the ones I already have, but this definitely seems like a game I'd love to have!
It's great to see the bond that lies between the many indie developers. Reading about these kind of things in interviews is quite pleasing.
