Re: Poll: Which Switch 2 Accessories Are You Picking Up At Launch?

MeloMan

I'm focusing on accessories for the first year, so express microSD card for sure, and if my Switch 1 power cord doesn't work, then I'll consider an AC adapter. I've made due with my Switch power cord and separate adapter just fine-- Just need to know NS2's power requirements and I can figure it out from there. I don't "need" the NS2 Pro Controller, but I've always wanted a second pro controller anyway, and it's apparent "sexiness" is irresistible, so I will pursue that, too. 2026 I will pursue NS2 and it's games.

Re: Nintendo Of America President On Timing Of Switch 2's Release Date

MeloMan

Nothing is happenstance. The software may have been ready which I can agree with, but the aging Switch 1, combined with Switch 2 having all of those months to ramp up and build hype in time for the holiday season where more games will come, combined with fiscal numbers as shareholders have a saying in things too, equals the grand decision to drop in June. Oh and, you probably wouldn't want to drop this when a new Playstation or Xbox comes out, which is something Nintendo hasn't even remotely done since the release of the GameCube. No, there was thought in this decision. Whether it was the best decision time will tell.

Re: Poll: After One Month, How Often Are You Actually Using 'Nintendo Today'?

MeloMan

Most days I just forget. Sometimes I pop in and there's the odd interesting thing, but nothing I can't get elsewhere. I must need to set some notifications or something because I always seem to miss when there's an F-Zero 99 special event/etc, or something like that. But most of the time I catch that on my Nintendo News through my Switch anyways so, six of one half dozen the other I suppose.

Re: Switch 2 "Code-In-A-Box" Physical Game Listing Spotted Online

MeloMan

Anything other than the full fat game on the physical cart is not worth being on your shelf. It's a shame because physical collectors are really doing nothing more than collecting the physical game case these days. Since you have to do a digital download anyway with these code in boxes and game key cards, all they should be doing is making digital downloads resellable, but, that's apparently where the game key cards come in. You fake own it, but can real sell it. I've slapped my forehead so many times at all this...

Re: Every Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card Release

MeloMan

So controversial, though I have a better understanding now. As far as I'm concerned, many "physical" games aren't "complete", meaning they don't have all the patches/DLC/etc. on the vanilla game card anyway off rip these days, save for a few, so even though it's in one's collection, if you ever loose your downloaded updates for some reason, and the servers that downloaded that info to the game card are shut off, you're left with a physical, incomplete, vanilla copy of said game. You win, but still lose in this digital download age.
Meh... it sucks, but true "ownership" is becoming a thing of the past the further we go along and there isn't much ado about it. Sadly the game key cards allow me a chance to still rent games and beat them like I've been doing, I'm just going to have to make sure I have the space for them. Hope archiving will still be a thing...

Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Won't Make It Easy For Physical Collectors In Japan

MeloMan

What's the zero sum? Let's say, I have a game key card I bought and a downloaded game to my Switch 2. Then I simply take this game key card over to my friend's Switch 2, they insert it, and can download it and play the game I bought? Is the whole point of this to be able to resell digital games? Obviously it's to keep from having to physically load the game on there which keeps costs down for devs, but I'm just trying to get the biggest picture of their advantage here...

Re: "Stay Tuned" For Next Mainline Mario, Says Nintendo's Bowser

MeloMan

Since Super Mario Odyssey took the rails off of what worlds Mario could be in, I felt that it really should have got DLC in the form of additional worlds, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I still think the concept itself has a lot of life and as long as the worlds are clever enough, then a Super Mario Odyssey 2 can work. Then again, if they're working on a whole new original 3D Mario, I still find myself saying where can Mario go next?

Re: Best 4K TVs For Nintendo Switch 2

MeloMan

I stepped out of the TV game for quite a while now, so this guide was very informative and essential for me. I won't say I'm a pro now but I will say I have a greater understanding of current TVs and what is needed now. Thanks NL!

Re: Yep, It Looks Like You Can Still Dodge Blue Shells In Mario Kart World

MeloMan

Yeah Yoshi was still a ghost when it hit, so unconfirmed for now.

Question: Was the Blue Shell dodgeable in MK8 without the horn/ghost/star/simultaneous lightning strike? I don't recall it being dodgeable. If MKW is bringing back "power drift blue shell dodging" that's been lost since Double Dash, or even mushroom blue shell dodging being a thing, that makes me happy.

Re: Video: Nintendo Today Gives Us Another Look At F-Zero GX For Switch Online

MeloMan

After missing out on X I made sure I played this game back in the day, and I mastered it too. Beating story mode was like beating 3D Ninja Gaiden 1-- I had to go into zen state, but I did it 😆
I'm sure my skills have eroded as bad as milk from 2003, so I'll just be dabbling this go around. I just want to build my custom car again-- I miss getting it up to 2300km with boost+zipper+ airborne combined, hitting hairpins at top speed using triggers alone. I will need the Gamecube controller to rekindle that feeling.

Re: Review: Lunar Remastered Collection (Switch) - Two Of The Most Charming RPGs Ever Get A Fair, If Flawed, Port

MeloMan

Finally "I" can forget about Lunar Legend, which humorously was my first foray at this beloved series and, truncated or not, made me love what this series is about. Lunar is like gaming soulfood-- It is not the best, greatest, groundbreaking RPG one can play, but it's just fun.

Off topic but I wish Lufia I and II were getting some modern love. Even a remake of Lufia: The Legend Returns would be nice.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (12th April)

MeloMan

I have a couple things I'm playing currently:

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition
Trigger fan finally giving this game a fair shake. Fun so far.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Imma a little conflicted now that I know an enhanced version will exist once Switch 2 comes. But then again, I do have The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom I still need to deal with, so I'll keep playing for now.
