Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st May)

Wish I could be saying "Next weekend I'll be playing MKW and Donkey Kong Bananza!", but it's not in the cards until next year, so... it'll be a Switch 1 weekend until then.
With that said, I will be continuing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, sprinkling in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate and Steel Racer.
Once I squash some "life purchases", I'll pick up the pursuit to procure a Switch 2... So ready to hand my Switch 1 to my mom.

Re: Nintendo Gives Us A Closer Look At Switch 2's "All-In-One" Carrying Case

MeloMan

I have one for my Switch 1, but I don't use it much because I don't travel that often with my dock, unless I'm going over my friend's house. I probably won't repeat that with Switch 2, especially if my current case works. I might be more interested in that smaller case option since I will definitely need that for when I get a Switch 2, but I'll likely find a suitable off brand.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Intended To Continue Bayonetta With Another Trilogy

MeloMan

Lots of great comments that I share similar feelings with. I feel that Bayo 3 was grand in vision, but didn't hit some of the series highs I was expecting from previous installments. For one, I felt it was trying to split time unnecessarily with a second character (though I liked her). The plot felt weak to me, like they they've run out of directions to keep going with the Trinities of Reality. It's easy for me to say that I would prefer Kamiya to keep helming the series "just because" he's the father of it, but I remain optimistic that this is a blessing in disguise as perhaps, this series IS in need of new eyes. I want to see the series evolve, but I need it to still maintain what makes it special. For now, I'll just consider it on the shelf.

Ah yes... the weekend. Mother's Day weekend here in the States. I'm getting all my gaming out of the way before tomorrow. GameFly is canceled for now so I can focus on my immediate backlog. On tap today is...

Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2
Long overdue. Four main stages to go before late game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Finally, and I can't wait. Main feature.

Re: Feature: From BOTW To TOTK - How The Switch Helped Me Overcome Mental Illness And Thrive

Wonderful piece. There's two things I can say for sure in my life: 1) If it weren't for videogames, I wouldn't have totally become the person I am today, and likely would've picked up worse vices, and 2) specifically playing Switch 1 was like a "here's is your Nintendo gamer life" era-- How far I've come as a gamer and the person within. Switch feels poetic in my life. Honestly, if I walked away today from gaming, I "could" be satisfied playing Switch until I played all I wanted to play, then just retire-- That's how awesome the Switch was for me.

Re: Nintendo Defends Switch 2's Perceived Lack Of Innovation

MeloMan

I can't say every Nintendo system has had a profound innovation attached to it, sometimes it was a little more subtle. I don't require Nintendo to go all out every generation anyway. I feel like at this point they've hit a plateau, and while they will always introduce little quirks, I think the weirdest, most radical stuff, is in the past now because they know what they need to do to stay successful. We'll see what happens after this generation.

So one of the first things I did was start paring down my wishlist and prioritized my backlog, both for now, and into the future to prepare for Switch 2. I have 2 main tasks: Complete The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Xenoblade Chronicles X THIS year, the sooner the better, and the former first. My immediate backlog consists of another priority-- Bringing the Gunvolt series to a close by beating Luminous Avenger iX 2, then in turn Azure Striker Gunvolt 3. The former will be kicked off today.
Lastly, I am kicking off Gravity Circuit and am going to try to dispose of that this weekend.
Honorable mention and retro throwback will be Super Thunder Blade... Just wanted to see more of that game to know what it's about.
