I'm not impressed with any of them. So tired of the NA style with a weak, over the top, miss the mark, art depiction (I know, it's part of the charm). Probotector keeps it simple and to the point for me, so that's my pick.
It was probably said a million times by now, but digital as a concept "can" last forever in a manner of speaking, but it's life depends on the server's life, and more directly on how long the owner wants it to stay on the server, so it's a toss up. No, physical things don't last forever, but they're yours , and if they last a long portion of your lifetime, then it's time well spent with your [insert object, but we'll keep it to physical media for sake of argument].
As a supportive argument for digital, all I've said is if these IP owners did a better job at preservation, I'd be willing to be all digital, but until that time comes, I'm not all in.
Final comment. It's going to be hell making an adjustment with GameFly on Switch 2. I haven't explored how these Game Key Cards have affected things just yet when the game I want to rent is a GKC... 🫤
I definitely used this in the re-release of FFVII on Switch, only cause it's definitely a product of its time, and though I was there, I didn't play it back then, so I just wanted to enjoy the game. I doubt I would use this on the remake though, but glad it's there for those that just want to enjoy it.
On an unrelated note, why did I read "Unlimited Powaaaah" in a Kirby Sideous voice? 😆
I'm still in shock Nintendo isn't ashamed of this system still and actually pulled off something I've BEEN wanting them to do. What I don't get is they had a chance to make this easier by releasing it on the 3DS VC, but I digress. The VB, failure or not, was one of my biggest regrets I didn't purchase back in the day, so, limited library and all, I am one of the weirdos that will be getting in on the demands needed to set this up.
I wrapped up the Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter demo yesterday. I'm playing Powerwash Simulator... So mad there's a part 2 coming now. Lords of Exile is FINALLY 50% off, so I'm picking that up. There'll be some dabble, including possible retro throwback action, so here's a spitfire of possibilities:
Chrono Cross Mercs StarTropics Omega 6: The Triangle Stars Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
... And some Mario 40th anniversary action-- Probably Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 eReader levels (phew).
I don't remember what year it was that I finally beat Super Mario Bros. I do know I first played it ever in my life in 1987, and when I finally got my NES in '88, I had moved on to get Super Mario Bros. 2 and beat that. This is where it gets really foggy-- I eventually got my own copy of Super Mario Bros. and did finally beat it, but I can't remember if I beat it before or after Super Mario Bros 3. All I know is I beat it somewhere in between '88 and '91.
Hmm, didn't feel very Acclaim to me, but at least the presentation did have a vibe going for it. I feel a lot of stuff was worth a look. It'll be interesting to see how a lot of it's scores. It kind of felt like they were trying to piggyback off of the revitalized Atari somewhat-- Time will tell if it's all worth it. Maybe if they happen to pick up some licensed IPs, and do decent with those, then maybe Acclaim will turn some more heads.
It'll be Mina the Hallower demo and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter demo, first and foremost. I finally want to kick off Powerwash Simulator. I also just downloaded Omega 6: The Triangle Stars-- Too cheap to pass up. Once I'm over the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom withdrawal, I'll finally circle back to Crono Cross.
Hmph. The question of our lifetime... What a game should be priced, according to... Opinions. Production vs time vs length of campaign, etc. There will never be a perfect answer. Some stuff is far more obvious than others. But just when we think we've figured out the "proper" formula, we find ourselves reevaluating what came before. Here we go again...
It won't be The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom-- I vanquished it at last. I'm prolly gonna get to two demos, Mina the Hallower and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter.
I don't like any of them honestly. For NA and JP, the cartoony over a realistic image doesn't do it for me. The European one nails "Harvest Moon" literally to a fault, but it flows in its own way at least. I give it points for looking like a horror movie where the farmer looks like he's about to "cull" the cow rather than crops, with the dog hyping him on 😆
Continuing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Need to return the travel medallion to Robbie. Gotta get back to Akkala, pardon, Sokkala archipelago. I just might be able to return to the depths below Zora Domain, up and around back to Hebra depths. Then... I'll ponder punishing two King Gleeoks (maybe 3 including the depths), and at least 3 depths arenas for some good Lynel clashes. Soon Ganondorf... very soon...
Glad to see this game get a mention. Another one of those nice surprises on GCN. Definitely hope it's performance can get punched up if it comes to NSO GCN.
I knew with that mouse support it was only a matter of time before Mario Paint re-emerged in some fashion. I am shocked to hear that it's been applied to Mario's Super Picross, which I play from time to time, so that's great news I can simply plug in a mouse for that option.
Y/B combo over B/A is GOAT for me for SNES. There's only a couple of games I can remember where B was Accept leaving Y as cancel, but it wasn't a big issue for me. Still good to have options.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for me. Clearing out Necluda Archipelago, then Eventide, then Eventide depths. Bringing that back around to Faron afterwards hopefully during this weekend.
@Smithicus I was shocked when I learned AoC was an alternate timeline, and I have a feeling AoI is more of the same. I haven't beat TotK just yet, but I'm honestly getting my fix of the backstory from that game.
Side thought: If they go the alt timeline route, they'll probably find a way to get Link to jump to the past so he can help defeat Ganondorf. Then he and Zelda can happily go back to the future and live happily ever after-- I can see it now...

I laughed so hard when saw this. It was such a troll at times in the game, now it can troll you in real life. Awesome on Nintendo.
