It's been collecting dust lately. Games are more expensive, and after Mario Kart World and Bananza, two games that I was very excited for and ultimately left me disappointed, I am having hard time justifying another 80 euro purchase anytime soon.
Getting it for Top Ride, but not day one. Not that interested in other modes. I could never get into City Trials in the first one and regular racing was good, but I prefer something closer to Mario Kart and CTR. I don't see this game selling that well.
I remember Sakura's reasoning for excluding Subspace Emmisary-like cutscenes from other Smash games because they were spoiled through youtube videos and he envisioned it as something to surprise people when they play the actual game, so he saw no point in it anymore. And now we are seeing the whole game spoiled through trailers, overviews and total of two hours of nintendo direct. I don't care for spoilers, but I find it interesting that the thinking behind what to show before the games release has clearly shifted.
I have to ask, is anyone even playing these games anymore? I am not trying to stir the pot or provoke some reaction, I am genuinely asking if anyone is playing these.
Unlike the first one I enjoyed this one much more.
Top Ride is back and it is online, and that alone is worth the purchase for me.
Bonkers being omitted from the playable cast is weird. I thought he is one of the more popular characters in the Kirby-verse.
Now imagine this gameplay with cast from across the Nintendo franchises. Now THAT is what Super Smash Kart should be.
I have some mixed feelings about the visuals. It looks faithful to the animated series yet cheap and the same time, YET animated series didn't look cheap. I guess that visual style did not translate well to video game world. Looks more like those online flash games. Visuals aside, I don't see this making much of a splash on a fighting games scene. I could be wrong, I hope I am wrong, but judging by this trailer and couple of screenshot (admittedly this is judging book by it's covers) I am not feeling it. Is Avatar even a popular IP among the youngsters, AKA people who actually have time to play video games? Ah, we will see.
It seems like every review I read for Switch 2 games there are some tehnical hiccups. I thought that will be thing of the past with Switch 2, but apparently not. I keep reading Nintendo Life reviews and buy reviewed games on Steam.
This better be good. Platformers is my favorite genre and I could not get past the first world of the original Yooka Laylee. It felt so... unfinished. Quality of Impossible Lair gives me hope that the first game was just a an exception and they know what they are doing with the revision.
Mario Galaxy Double Pack (which won't be adjusted for joy-cons and it will still be better played with Wiimote+Nunchuk, for no good reason) or New Super Mario Collection, those would be my predictions.
Maybe Super Mario Wonder 2?
I can only speak for myself but I will gladly pay double the price for a much shorter game. To me it is never about how long the game is or how much content it has. It is about the quality of that content, no matter the amount.
5/10
Overlong (did we need full 5 minutes of Sakurai playing City Trial?), and Sakurai repeating himself over some features didn't help the runtime.
The game feels like more of the same, not that distinct from the first game. Sure, there are more characters, but that is pretty much that.
What really bothers me is no Top Ride, which is what I liked the most from the first game and was my main way of playing the game.
That said, judging by Sakurai's last comments and the tease at the end, it might not be what it seems.
There might be a lot more coming.
But, based on this direct alone, I was left disappointed.
Played this one on Steam, the 8 year wait was definitely worth it. My favorite is Caramel Caramel, brutally difficult shoot em up. I might double dip and get this one for Switch too.
Remember when Rocket was announced for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, out of nowhere, and couple months later Guardians of the Galaxy movie roster was announced? Yeah, I bet we will see Beta Ray Bill sooner than later in MCU.
I hope to see as little as possible. I might even skio this direct. I want to go into the game as clueless as possible and to be dazzled by it when I get to play it. I miss that feeling of having no idea what to expect from a game.

Re: This PlayStation Platforming Sequel Makes The Jump To Switch Very Soon
A classic. Beat it once and I was too scared to beat it again. Those who reached part right before the final boss will know what I'm talking about.
Re: Madcap Platformer 'Antonblast' Is Getting One Final Update This Month
I did not vibe with the game at all, and I am a target audience. I might give this one another shot.
Re: Review: Marvel Cosmic Invasion (Switch) - Up There With Best-Ever Arcade Marvel Games
That's quite a few cons for a game to get an 8. I was excited for the game, but now I am in no rush to play it.
Re: Feature: The Tightest, Briskest Mario & Luigi Game Turns 20 Today And Deserves More Love
Forced myself to finish it and never looked back.
Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story are the only one worth the time.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Copy Of Rosalina's Storybook?
Not even remotely interested, but it is a neat idea.

They already revived the franchise with Gaiden, and now they do this? What a waste.

Re: Sakurai Has No Plans For Kirby Air Riders DLC: "Everything Is Here"
Well, that kills my hopes of seeing Bonkers in the game.
I guess the ridicilous amount of content in the game will have to be enough.
Re: Nintendo Direct For Kirby Air Riders Announced For Thursday, 23rd October
Fingers crossed we are getting Top Ride
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Team Open To More DLC: "Tell Us What You Want"
I would love to see Mario in it, but we all know that is not happening.
Re: Absolum And Ball X Pit Post Excellent Initial Sales, But They Deserve More
Didn't they just release? Give it time.
Re: Can You Name These NES Games From The Mangled Box Art?

I keep reading Nintendo Life reviews and buy reviewed games on Steam.
Re: Review: Yooka-Replaylee (Switch 2) - Feels Like The Game It Was Meant To Be, Finally
Will probably get this one on Steam
Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?
With bundles and discounts on Steam, I buy more than I can play.
If we are talking consoles, about 3-4 a year.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th October)
Dredge, trying to get all the fish. It is a grind, but a suprisingly relaxing grind
Re: Yooka-Replaylee Physical Confirmed For December, Includes Extra Goodies
This better be good. Platformers is my favorite genre and I could not get past the first world of the original Yooka Laylee. It felt so... unfinished.
Quality of Impossible Lair gives me hope that the first game was just a an exception and they know what they are doing with the revision.
Re: Review: Klonoa: Empire Of Dreams (GBA) - One Of The System's Best Still Plays Like A Dream
100% this one on GBA and will probably do it again on Switch. Such an underrated gem.
Re: Do Bananza And Odyssey Share The Same Pauline? Donkey Kong Dev Won't Confirm Anything
Can't say I care that much. Mario universe was never about continuity.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Gets A Seven-Minute Overview Trailer
Two new storybook pages? That is their point?
Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Reminds Me Of Gears 5, And It's Making Me Nervous
I'll judge it when I play it
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time
@BulkSlash 100% agree. I hated how the pointer worked on 3D All Stars to the point that I stopped playing after collecting one star.
Re: Antonblast Appears To Be Jumping On The Virtual Boy Bandwagon
So it is a same game but in red... Yay?
Re: ICYMI: If You Want To Play Virtual Boy Classics, You'll Need To Buy One Of Nintendo's Accessories
I love Nintendo, but man... they sure make decisions that only makes sense to them.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Bundle Confirmed For Switch, Launching October
Called it.
That price though......
Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online
Wait... It requires an add-on? Pffff, hard pass.
Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today
Doesn't look like much to bring me back to the game. Seeing DK Island is cool, I guess, but that Emerald Rush mode.... I am not feeling it
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct September Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?
Mario Galaxy Double Pack (which won't be adjusted for joy-cons and it will still be better played with Wiimote+Nunchuk, for no good reason) or New Super Mario Collection, those would be my predictions.
Maybe Super Mario Wonder 2?

Re: LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Swoops Onto Switch 2 Next Year
@Jeff2sayshi Batman saying he needs to become a symbol, and scenes in the mountains and fighting ninjas, those are from Batman Begins.

Re: Nintendo's LEGO Game Boy Officially Revealed, Releasing October 2025
I like lego, but this is...... this is a waste of money
Re: Nintendo Confirms The Release Date For Drag X Drive On Switch 2
Hard pass. I am sure it plays well, but I have zero hope the online scene will last more than a year.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Direct: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?
While gameplay looks fantastic, the worlds that were showcased feel... a bit samey, unlike Mario Odyssey, which I think is a fair comparison.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Hoping To See In The Donkey Kong Bananza Direct?
I hope to see as little as possible. I might even skio this direct.
I want to go into the game as clueless as possible and to be dazzled by it when I get to play it.
I miss that feeling of having no idea what to expect from a game.
Re: Best Mario Kart Games Of All Time
I player Double Dash recently. It is...... it is not very good. Definitely on the lower end of the list for me.
