Re: Poll: Hasn't Nintendo Always Been An 'Entertainment' Company?

MarioBrickLayer

@Jigglypuff439 It depends on what you mean by "NCU" I don't think they can do one underlying story (like the Infinity Saga in the MCU) and have loads of films building towards one ending, it would be too forced.

There should be loads of stand alone movies and TV shows with a small amount of overlap where it makes sense, such as following on some of the story from the Mario Movie in a Luigi's Mansion movie etc.

They need to be thinking about coordinating releases of games and movies, how about Splatoon 4 and a Splatoon movie within 3 months of each other in 2028?

So he worked in global PR and Marketing for XBOX and Nintendo might have something coming soon in need of global PR and Marketing...does anyone know who runs that today?

After the disaster of launching the Wii U where people were confused about it being a Wii accessory...is this the guy to help them get it right?

I'm still playing Tears of the Kingdom! Trying to get Lynel Guts to upgrade an armor set, but despite beating the coliseum and some other random ones I don't have any yet!
I'm also at the end of the Soul Shrine despite not getting to the one in the desert yet. I found it by trying to get all the shrines in the sky so i'm not sure if I skipped a different trigger for it.

I'm still loving it!! After Nier Automata and Metroid Prime Remastered (plus Gunborg and Ori and the Blind Forest) this has been a great year of gaming for me so far!

@Yalloo I started and completed Nier Automata in January and loved it. A really fantastic game that mixes a number of different gaming types together really well. There are many different endings with three main playthroughs from the perspective of different characters, it's worth doing that if you're enjoying it.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Squeeze Another Zelda Game Out Of TOTK's Open World?

MarioBrickLayer

Thinking about the the timing, the next 3D Zelda is 2028 - 2030...which puts it towards the end of the Switch 2 life cycle or maybe even a launch title for Switch 3?

I'd love another game based on this world, but given the development leadtimes I think the next titles we'll see are:-

1. A new 2D game
2. 4K single releases of Windwaker + Twilight Princess (think Metroid Prime Remaster but on the new hardware)
3. A port of a link between worlds

Zelda for me!!

I'm close to maxing out my battery, I have a tonne of discovered shrines to complete and one temple to go.

I'm approaching 90 lightroots and have just discovered a different style of mine from the usual, but I have died there a few times trying to get through it - attempting to beat quite a few enemies with only 3 hearts is not good!

Re: Sharp Is Supplying LCD Displays For A 'New Console' As Fans Await Switch Successor

@Cashews I think it could cause issues with production in the 1st year. If they predict demand incorrectly there could be an over supply of one model and an under supply of the other. They need to keep things simple to avoid problems.

Aren't Sony ditching their two model PS5 approach and having a single model with attachable disk drive? - I'm sure Spawnwave has talked about that.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Upcoming Switch Games, And It's Slim Pickings

MarioBrickLayer

@sc100 I agree. MP4 and the next 3D Mario have to be on the Switch 2 at this point. Those types of games take too long to develop to be "wasted" on the Switch - by that I mean Nintendo will want some banger titles to drive sales of the Switch 2...

If it was me, the launch titles would be; 3D Mario, Metroid Prime 4 and a remaster of Wind Waker or Twilight Princes - imagine a Metroid Prime remastered style improvement but up to the level of the new hardware!

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Upcoming Switch Games, And It's Slim Pickings

MarioBrickLayer

@SalvorHardin Here's a hypothetical question...lets say Nintendo's line up for the the 2nd half of 2024 includes; Pikmin 4, a new 3D Mario game for Christmas, Metroid Prime 2 Remastered, all the DLC announced, Pokemon, a new AA IP and a port of F-Zero GX...does it harm sales that we don't know most of that now?

My point is, the number of releases by Nintendo on the Switch over the past couple of years hasn't been low and we don't know what is coming.

Re: Mario's Creator Shigeru Miyamoto Teases More Nintendo Movies

MarioBrickLayer

@Baker1000 @Spoony_Tech Before Mario, the two best video game movies at the box office were Warcraft ($439m) and Pokemon ($433m) and over half of what Warcraft took was in China, it was terrible in the West.

I think Nintendo have a dozen franchises which could beat that:-
1. Mario Sequels
2. Donkey Kong
3. Luigi's Mansion
4. Zelda
5. Metroid
6. Splatoon
7. Fire Emblem
8. Animal Crossing
9. Kirby
10. Star Fox
11. Smash
12. Arms

I'm assuming good word of mouth and half decent marketing.

Re: Mario's Creator Shigeru Miyamoto Teases More Nintendo Movies

@Twilite9 I disagree on Metroid being the only live action! Zelda would be epic, something of the scale of Lord of the Rings. IMO a Zelda live action trilogy could break $5bn at the box office, I think given the tone it's hard to see an animated trilogy doing close to that.

F-Zero and Ainmal Crossing are good shouts. Would they be more suitable for movies or TV shows?
