Re: Review: Ys X: Proud Nordics (Switch 2) - The Definitive Version Of Adol Christin's Seafaring Saga

Can't support this one since I already played through the original release and was super annoyed that they announced this version only a few weeks (literally) after the western release of the original version. Ys is one of my favorite gaming franchises, but I definitely will not be buying Ys 11 when it releases and will be waiting a year or two after it releases before I feel that it's "safe" to buy it.

Re: Interview: "Kids Don't Like Being Treated Like Kids" - How 4PGP Is Harnessing The Power Of Sega Rally's Director To Challenge Mario Kart

I just had a race in this game where I clearly crossed the finished line in first place by about half a car length, and not only did the game give the CPU racer the same time as me, but it also awarded them the 1st-place victory over me. womp womp

The game is also advertised as having a 4K mode at 60fps and a 120fps mode at 1080p, and yet there is no graphics option at all in the game (it defaults to the 120fps mode).

Re: Feature: "Demoralisation Is A Strong Word, But It Accurately Describes The Situation" - Why Do So Many Games Get Delayed?

MARl0

The biggest problems are poor project management and over promising when it comes to release dates/windows. And always build a comfortable buffer into your release date if you absolutely have to go public with it. If your game has a specific date planned that you've announced to the public, you better damn well feel confident that your game will be ready to ship well in advance of that date to account for any unexpected hurdles. And if your game gets delayed by a year or more, you should be firing your project manager.

Re: Nintendo's Investors Are Reportedly "Spooked" As Stock Slides

MARl0

When the prices were announced for the console and the games, I knew a quick launch and sharp drop in sales after a while would be inevitable. The hardcore fans always buy at launch, and having actual stock available at retail is the main reason for it having the fastest launch in history. Realistically, previous title holders (like PS4) would have done just as well or better if they actually had more consoles available in stores to purchase at the time. But the biggest fans have their console now and the real battle begins for the rest of the gamers (and parents who buy for their kids). And $450–500 for the console and $70–80 games are a tough pill to swallow. Nintendo has an uphill battle at this point.

Re: Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period

MARl0

Not surprising considering every store that sells video games had stacks and stacks of Switch 2s throughout the entire holiday season in my area as they struggled to move them. Best Buy was even putting them on sale routinely, which is just not something you see for a brand new console in its first holiday season. It's similar to what happened with the Wii U. Explosive numbers at launch, only to slow down shortly after. And yes, I'm aware that it isn't nearly on the level of what happened to the Wii U (not even close), but it's a similar trend, just on a different scale.

Re: Censored Dispatch Artwork Spotted On Nintendo's Digital Storefront

MARl0

It's crazy just how much Nintendo has changed in the last couple years regarding censorship. They used to be the least censored console on the market for most of the Switch's life span. With Sony routinely censoring games that were not censored on Switch. And now they've swapped places. So disappointing.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Reviews Skyrim On Switch 2, And Yeah, It's Bad

@ShadLink It would seem that you're the one showing your bias. Showing the input lag difference between PS5, Switch, and Switch 2 is a completely fair comparison since input lag is not something that the PS5 is "better" at than the Switch or the Switch 2. In fact, the PS5 is infamous for having terrible input lag with many games due to its development tools (not the hardware itself). Just ask Mortal Kombat fans about that 110ms input lag in the Legacy Kollection that recently released that was worse than the even Switch 1's input lag in that same game when it launched.

Re: Alarmo Receives A Software Update, Here Are The Patch Notes

I returned mine to the store because it was too hard to see. The screen was so dim on it with no option to fix it. It has a brightness setting, but the highest setting was still insanely dim because it uses a light sensor that can't be deactivated that messes it up anyway.
