Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mario Kart World

Livewired

Such a disappointment. If Mario Kart 8 is a celebration of all things Nintendo, World is a major regression. No defending this. Sega did the same with the follow ups to All Stars Transformed, though the latest entry looks like it is going to take the crown - especially since the latest reports have said Sega took all on board from the fan feedback! Nintendo have dropped the ball.

Re: Nintendo Shares More Footage Of Zelda: Wind Waker On Switch 2

Livewired

@NeonPizza The Switch 2 emulation isn't 1:1 with the GCN original. It is missing the depth of field blur which is important to the stylisation and aesthetic of the GCN original. As someone who actually played the original multiple times on og hardware back in 2003/04, the HD rerelease on Wii U is undeniably the best version.

Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

Livewired

GREED. Nintendo have been showing their cards this past two years. They think just because they got lucky with Switch its a certified round 2 so can charge whatever the hell they want. Back to their old 90s habits - egotistical, pig ignorant lunatics. Once the 10 million desperate fan boys get their hands on one sales will stall and flatline. So stupid but glad they will finally be forced to go third party - fed up playing their games running on gimped hardware.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game

Livewired

@squidduforeal I have always found Microsoft give removal dates well in advance. An example is Forza Horizon 4 which was announced nearly a year before and was regularly discounted.
Not to mention if you own the game, you always have access to redownload - Microsoft may be a corporation people love to hate, but they tend to be really good to Xbox gamers in my experience.

Re: Switch Online's Latest "Mature" N64 App Update Appears To Fix Some Perfect Dark Emulation Issues

@Arkay Nintendo stipulated parity as they wanted to use it specifically for their online subscription - they accepted a Microsoft edition running in 4K widescreen by default , however it was not allowed any further graphical enhancements. To balance out superior performance and control on Xbox, the Switch edition was the only one allowed to have basic online functionality.

Rare already had a GoldenEye remaster in house from over 10 years ago, a near final version was leaked. Had Nintendo been more flexible and didn't insist on the game exclusively on their pityful wreck of an online service, MS would have released the remaster on both consoles with superior online functionality.

Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate In Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom?

Livewired

If Grezzo locked the framerate to 30 it would be fine. But as it is the framerate is borderline offensive, it's all over the place and it's very obvious due to the constant stuttering and screen judder - it's like a PowerPoint slideshow at times.

Only the obsessed XXX Nintendo hardcore, who are obsessed with getting a whiff of Miyamotos used underwear will PRETEND they don't notice it.

Re: Random: Someone 3D Printed The Rumoured 'Switch 2' Design

@brunojenso I mean't hardware, console in a box, I wasn't extending to their games, there's no doubting those mentioned.
What I meant was Nintendo used to go for straight up generational improvements in terms of graphics performance until Wii/DS arrived. NES, SNES, N64, GCN where all cutting edge, powerful pieces of kit on release, then out if necessity, Nintendo had to focus on gimmicks. The NES, SNES, N64 and GCN all had functional controller innovations but they weren't the selling point of the hardware, they were quality of life enhancements, they were in service of the hardware. The DS ushered in the gimmick focus approach - touch screen, Wii - Wiimotes, 3DS - glasses free 3D, Wii U - Gamepad, Switch - hybrid handheld.

So my point is, that a straight up Switch 2, with a logical tech upgrade including QoL improvements in terms of controller input/comfort is arguably a return to Nintendo's more clear cut generational leaps from yesteryear...

Re: Random: Someone 3D Printed The Rumoured 'Switch 2' Design

Livewired

@brunojenso Nothing wrong with playing it safe. Nintendo didn't really 'innovate' or more accurately shift their focus to gimmicks until the DS and Wii, before then they made traditional hardware - this is Nintendo returning to their core business.

The big issue is, how are Nintendo going to get the 130 million casual fans to upgrade? Only hardcore Nintendo fans bought Wii U - so we learnt from it that Nintendo's longterm fanbase had severely diminished to 13 million due to their lack of focus and refusal to get with the times.

Sony are facing the same issue with PS5, they've shipped 60-70 million consoles and have only sold 30 million to real customers. Why? Because their casual fans see no need to upgrade when the games they want to play online like fortnite play perfectly fine on PS4.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Wii U eShop / DS)

Livewired

@batmanbud2 Sure did, it's not illegal if you own the game and your own rom back up.

I was discussing playing on TV via Wii U - 3D DS games at 192p are a horrific pixellated mess on a large screen. You can actually hack the official DS emulator on Wii U to run at 2x resolution and it makes a MAJOR difference for 3D titles.

Not only that but out of sheer hate for their older fans Nintendo applied dark filters to a large portion of their VC catalogue.

Re: F-Zero Inspired Racer 'Aero GPX' Launches In Early Access Today

Livewired

@F_Destroyer First time I've heard the words brute power associated with Switch lol. You can't say 33x more powerful because it isn't, Terraflops are one part of the puzzle. A Switch at its best is approximately 16x more powerful than a GameCube with max safe overclocks applied.

Switch 2 will be close to Steam Deck territory which should make emulating GameCube/Wii games easier.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Hit 143 Million As Hardware And Software Figures Decline

Livewired

@johnedwin Yea, if Nintendo gives Switch a decent price cut, down to $99 and under like console manufacturers all used to do in the good old days a consoles twilight years, it will sell another 20million+ easy, but I can't ever see them willing to do that, big Corporations are no longer consumer friendly when it comes to passing on cost reductions.

But as for Sonys sales numbers - I'd take them with a pinch of salt. Sony only provide 'Shipping/Sell in' numbers not actual sell through, customer sales that Nintendo and MS provide.

Even in terms of PS3/PS5 sales to customers, I would say cut 10-20 million off Sonys claim and you have the real numbers sold figure.
