Re: Nintendo Reveals The Next N64 Game For Its Switch Online + Expansion Pack Service

Livewired

@NeonPizza I think the NTSC version was capped at 25fps, run in general about 20fps. The PAL version was an absolutely awful, shoddy conversion, the team messed up the code and it runs at 15fps with larger borders, they never bothered to revise it. The worst of it was a few Action Replay codes fixed the PAL speed and borders, which is how I played PAL WR back in the day - Nintendo really did hate us back then.

Nintendo are an accidental company. They bumble through everything.

The Switch 2 will be 2 years away once they realise sales have collapsed and people outside of their desperate fans aren't impressed with half assed emulation. 2025.

The global shortage is over and they are still restricting supply of all their items thinking it will increase demand. This is a new market Nintendo... Time to grow up.

Re: Retro-Bit's GameCube Component Cable Will Save You Some Pennies

Livewired

@Spider-Kev NTSC did and so did early PAL systems. Nintendo removed S video from the second PAL revision much as they did on N64 if my memory serves me correctly.

I installed all my Wii and GCN back catalogue as custom apps on Wii U which is connected to 4K set via MClassic adapter - GCN games look awesome through it with Nintendont patching in 16:9 widescreen perfectly on practically all games, not to mention the higher clock speeds means all GCN games at a unlocked 60fps are a locked 60.

Still have my old GCN hooked up to a CRT also.

Re: Modders Have Already "Fixed" Some Rain Issues In The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy

Glad the dev is proud. Ranks with XIII AS PERHAPS THE WORST REMASTER EVER 😂😂😂😂 I downloaded San Andreas on Xbox Gamepass and gave up after an hour, horrible art direction, character design is brutal and even the animation is screwed up. The tone of the originals is stripped out and all is very generic. Why?

Rockstar should have paid the fan modders for their brilliant remaster projects, ported and released those across all platforms instead of this souless tripe.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Livewired

@WiltonRoots yes because Nintendo responds to optimism, like heck they do, Nintendo never respond unless there is a sufficient backlash.

If we don't complain now they will never fix their pathetic service and emulation that isn't up to standard.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

@ModdedInkling No it didn't plan to re-release OOT with exp support. Fog was only used in OOT for effect - distance fogging (as is seen on distant mountains), representing the smoke and haze inside a volcano, in that room in the Water temple, the gloomy dungeons that required it. Why the would Nintendo remove effects that were part of the experience and art direction? Fog actually has a 30% performance hit in N64 games. Developers always had a choice, many liked to use it so they could cut back the level draw distance eg Turok.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

@sleepinglion according to @Dirty0814 @Nookingtons these are how the games looked and played on their original systems. Pretty clear these fanboys are willing to defend Nintendos disgusting emulation and service to the death and have no experience of retro games on their original systems.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Livewired

@Nookingtons N64 had framerate issues but none of the input lag that is experienced via emulation.

It's shocking how far Nintendo's online service has collapsed since Switch. Wii U had so many awesome online experiences, from Miiverse, posting to YouTube and social media to online chat. Switch is a disgrace.

I've watched the emulation and its horrific, online lag and everything. The only bonus being they haven't implemented the dark filter they had on Wii U VC. However even it could be removed and games installed properly via homebrew.

High time Nintendo went 3rd party. Metroid, Zelda, Mario et all would be far better on Xbox.

Re: Teardown Suggests The Switch OLED Dock Is 4K 60fps-Ready And 'Future Proof'

Livewired

@NEStalgia Sales are already dropping, the Switch is dead. Nintendo would be playing a major risk not capitalising on the brand considering what happened with Wii U. The Wii collapsed in 2009 and Nintendo didn't bother following it up until 2012 and by that time the Wii brand was dead, hence why they didn't bother promoting Wii U - Nintendo knew it was too late and their dev teams where lost.

Switch 2 is in production now, so stock will be abundant and ready to launch with Zelda in late 2022. 🤫😉

Re: Teardown Suggests The Switch OLED Dock Is 4K 60fps-Ready And 'Future Proof'

Livewired

@Lugazz I don't know why some Switch fanboys are so desperate to believe there will be no follow up, I do believe however that the Pro model was cancelled due to the silicone shortage and just became Oled.

Switch 2 will launch next year and will release with Zelda. The Switch sales are on the brink of collapse, they are falling away like its framerates, much like the Wii did, however this time Nintendo are prepared.

Re: Toshiba Sounds Alarm About Ongoing Chip Supply Issues

@Mountain_Man Neither am I bro. Still forced mandates appearing across the 1st world. Governments don't give two fecks about people, but they all agree there are far too many. This aint about protection.
However the recent move against vaccinating healthy 12-15 year olds in the UK mean they realise they do atleast need a desirable gene pool and work force going forward. 🙌🙌🙌

Re: Take-Two Files Lawsuit Against Creators Of The GTA Reverse Engineering Project

Livewired

@sanderev they can make up as many bullsh*t disclaimers and laws as they want. Someday the holier than thou creative industry will have to accept the consumer owns what they purchase unless its subscription based.

GTA, Mario et all are property of the fans. Especially Mario after the disgusting disservice and contempt Nintendo showed with their horrific Super Mario 3D collection.

Nintendo can't even do a proper console refresh, such is their hatred of consumers.

Re: Digital Foundry Weighs In With First Impressions Of Crysis 3 On Switch

Livewired

@DaniPooo Yes, that's why I mentioned split pool of RAM, however it was still a pain in the ass I believe as it caused lag. I agree with the rest, had the 360 and PS3 had 4GB of RAM for the likes of Crysis, they would probably be running just as well as the Switch is now with far less optimisation required.

Totally the only reason 3rd party games are looking better on Switch simply due to optimisation, more modern Nvidia hardware design and more RAM available. Certainly not in raw power. In many ways the Wii U is more powerful than Switch, but again the limited 1GB Ram available for games limited it along with the fact that Nintendo's GDK was never optimised.

Re: Digital Foundry Explores The Potential Of 4K DLSS On A Next-Gen Switch

Livewired

@skywake It still adds cost, Nintendo will do anything to save money at the behest of consumer of experience. They are the ultimate penny pinchers and profit maximisers.

If DLSS added as much as 0.001p onto the manufacture they'd pull the pin as Miyamoto would proclaim 720P nearest neighbour is perfect as he doesn't give a damn about quality of visuals, if composite was still cheaper than HDMI, Switch wouldn't even have a HDMI port, it would be composite. I really do believe the next Switch 2/Pro will be downgraded in certain areas as Nintendo have become so cocky again.

Re: Digital Foundry Weighs In With First Impressions Of Crysis 3 On Switch

Livewired

@DaniPooo While it is true in the first few years Cell wasn't utilised correctly due to the GDK, Sony had it sorted out by fully by 2008. The PS3 was pushed to the max by the end including Cell as Guerrilla and Naughty Dog both said they milked every ounce of it. The problem with PS3 really lay in its split pool of RAM, 256MB GDDR3 for the 7800 inside it simply wasn't enough.
