@Averagewriter Nintendo always give the big middle finger, Reggie was given the middle finger too, did you know Nintendo print off photographs of the middle finger and send them to developers and publishers they don't like. 😂😂😂😂

Re: Crysis Remastered For Nintendo Switch Revealed By Hidden Webpage

@FargusPelagius The initial Wii U dev kits were bodged and lacked complete features such making use of all three cores so 3rd parties were stuck with porting using only a single core to start. Also the OS and Gamepad run on a separate independent Arm core so they weren't hammering performance. So basically the other two cores in Wii U were sitting idle doing sweet FA for the first year, then Nintendo spent a good year and a getting it working along with the significant OS improvements.

It was a good kick in the backside for Nintendo. They lay around in standard definition for far too long, they went into overdrive learning how to make modern games on Wii U.

Re: Crysis Remastered For Nintendo Switch Revealed By Hidden Webpage

@FargusPelagius EA never used that reason, EA never even acknowledged a Wii U version of Crysis 3. They cut all ties with Nintendo after the Nintendo Network fall out (EA built the Wii U Nintendo network and wanted Origin to be available on it aswell - they since released EA pass on Xbox.

The only thing known about Crysis 3 was that Crytek said the Wii U version was up and running, ready for release but neither Nintendo or EA were interested (Crysis 3 didn't sell aswell as EA wanted and obviously Nintendo fans wouldn't buy it because it is EA.)

I'm not surprised - Nintendo fans didn't support the excellent ports of Mass Effect 3, FIFA 13, Need For Speed et all and recieved angry criticism instead.

@Antraxx777 No amount of adjustments corrects it, it may look ok after tv adjustments. They put an actual filter on that you have to remove.

They did this because they were forced to offer the reduced price upgrade path for Wii VC owners. This angered Nintendo greatly to do this for PR reasons, so it was their middle finger to their long term fans. Basically you want a cheap upgrade? F U we'll reduce the image quality.

Re: Nintendo Cracks Down On The Super Mario 64 PC Port

@MysticX if Nintendo do rerelease Super Mario 64 again, lets hope they don't put the dumb ass darkening filter they put on Wii U VC. I feckin had to go and hack my Wii U to remove it from my VC purchases - also I was pissed off how they slapped out DK64 without adjusting the analogue deadzones and preventing the emulator from running in 16:9. Pure disrespect to fans - I emailed and complained but they ignored.

As for all these takedowns it was proven Nintendo lifted their emulation code directly from free opensource/homebrew emulators.

A bit of give and take here Nintendo.

Re: N64 Star Wars Title Shadows Of The Empire Is Getting A Soundtrack Release

Livewired

@NoNoseNosferatu yea the joy of Nintendo choosing tiny carts - developers always had compromises to make on graphics, presentation and sound.

I played the game recently for the first time on N64, while it is definitely a mixed bag I have to say, things like riding on the rooftops of moving trains etc is very impressive scope for a very early 3D game.

Re: Nintendo To Shutdown "Limited" Wii U And 3DS eShops In Select Countries

Livewired

@Anvold It's time to exit Nintendo ONLY land bud - this is a Nintendo ONLY problem, they refuse to allow and restrict license to one console only as they want to keep coining in, so stop tarring digital with the Nintendo brush because they are stubborn and controlling.

There is nothing evil about digital, EVERY OTHER company ties your purchases to your user account, what you bought digitally is available to download FREE on Xbox One with hundreds of BC 360 games which you will be able to redownload again for FREE on Series X, PC is the same regardless of upgrading or store, and PlayStation Network also offers the same service albeit it depends if emulation is available on PS4.

I agree it is sad for these users but Nitendo tied the games to specific consoles unless you do a system transfer. However the games are readily to download and install for free again if something happens via a little hacking and downloading - granted you shouldn't have to but I agree. Nintendo are digital scum.

Re: Nintendo To Shutdown "Limited" Wii U And 3DS eShops In Select Countries

@nintendoknife Alot of people use flash memory sticks on Wii U.

Nintendo were playing safe. Like all hardware there is potential to fail. I used a spare Samsung Evo 120GB SSD with a y connector so I didn't need an extra power supply. I have 500GB SSD connected to my Xbox One X and a 500GB SSD for portable use.

Unlike the other dudes I can't be bothered copy and pasting information from elsewhere or Wiki, but I will say a general rule of thumb is cost = quality in terms of hardware and peripherals.

Re: Nintendo To Shutdown "Limited" Wii U And 3DS eShops In Select Countries

Livewired

@Yorumi I know, I have all my original consoles too and much prefer original hardware for example my Snes, MD, Saturn, PS1, N64 (hdmi and everdrive) all sit connected to a 4:3 20" monitor at the rear of my living room, nothing beats the original hardware.

However many have collected VC games and Nintendo's emulators are based on stripped back open source emulation available on the web. You can actually remove the terrible dark filter Nintendo introduced and applied to all VC games on Wii U and install at no cost on your Wii U. That way you can keep all digital purchased games forever.

Re: Random: Switch Fans React To EA's Partnership With Google Stadia

Livewired

@RPGamer Don't listen to @mesome713 completely uninformed on this topic.

1. You don't have to keep rebuying purchases on Xbox unlike Nintendo. Xbox purchases are tied to your user account.

An example is if you own all previous 360 games that are back compatible which goes into the hundreds you can download via your live account if bought digital last generation or put in your disc and download for free. And this is continuing with Series X.

Digital Foundry have proven the input lag on Stadia via their super fast connections. The thing is there will always be an inherent lag with streaming from the clouds and also - once Google get bored and shut Stadia down you can say bye to those games forever.

Re: Random: Switch Fans React To EA's Partnership With Google Stadia

Livewired

It's clear Google have signed a deal.

Nintendo fell out with EA regarding their online network on Wii U. As EA built the Wii U online infrastructure they wanted to bring Origin store onto it aswell - the reason why online was so good and full featured on Wii U was due to it being built by EA. When Nintendo started from scratch with some useless Japanese company it has resulted in Switch being a half baked messed online.

Unlike Switch no work or investment is required to port other than flicking down a few settings for almost Xbox One X quality versions of titles.

Who cares?

@Heavyarms55 it's Nintendo's fault for sticking with their limit supply to increase demand strategy. It's their archaic business practice, they were fined for it in the 90s, it allows them to artificially maintain their RRP.

The "we are increasing production" line was always used in the 90s too when interviewed.

Nintendo never have intent on meeting demand.

Re: Witcher 3 Switch Dev Saber Interactive Is Co-Developing Crysis On Switch

Livewired

@Casual_Gamer95 How noble of you. Nothing wrong with 30fps and Crysis isn't a popcorn, light weight, corridor peashooter.

I was playing Forza Horzon 4 yesterday, switched between it's 30 and 60fps modes - couldn't feel the difference, both played excellent and run super smooth, super responsive, and looked super smooth - The difference being 4K and the details pushed out further in 30fps mode. Anyways the framerate difference was completely imperceptible.

I think what people have become caught up on now is framerate stability or uneven frames - in single player titles 30fps should never be an issue.

In the Wild West super competitive PC world multiplayer with infinite hardware possibilities, using framerate and dropping the res and settings has always been a method in trying to gain an advantage over other players.

Re: Crysis Remastered For Nintendo Switch Revealed By Hidden Webpage

Livewired

@FargusPelagius What have EA got to do with trying to run Crysis 3 on Wii U????

Cevat Yerli from Crytek said they had it ready to go on Wii U but EA and Nintendo had no business interest in supporting it.

The Wii U was fine. The COD games were ported to Wii U in less that two month by a small team, and only used a single core as did alot of the Wii U 3rd party games as the development environment was a mess.

Re: Crysis Remastered For Nintendo Switch Revealed By Hidden Webpage

@Swindla For me Crysis was easily one of the best games I've ever played. In 2007 with a Q6600, 6GB RAM and 8800GTX I was playing at a mix of medium, high and ultra at 720p at around 25-30fps which was decent, if I dropped the settings I could get higher framerates but what the hell it looked so good and was still perfectly playable. I spent hours tackling the objectives in different ways and was big into the modding scene and online. To see it on a handheld with updated textures and benefits of the new CryEngine brings will be nothing short of witchcraft.

Re: Capcom's Former GameCube Exclusive Resident Evil 4 Is Reportedly Getting A Remake

Livewired

@Wavey84 I'm assuming you're NTSC, S-video is definitely better than composite. It doesn't have the horrible fuzz for a start and is sharper with higher contrast however it is no patch on RGB scart in terms of colour, there is a depth, contrast, detail and richness to the output on PAL GameCubes via good quality RGB scart cable in any TV that supports RGB, including cheap sets - Trinitron was the go to TV until Sonys patents run out in mid 90's, however many other companies successfully replicated and improved trinitron design after this. It's just something you have to see for yourself, yes its not as bold and colourful as the originals, but the colours on Resi GCN when output through RGB scart are rich and deep.

The Wii via component is also known to be at a reduced quality to GCN RGB Scart as component was a last minute addition to the Wii.

I see the HD rereleases have enhanced textures and models, my mistake, I played through 0 and didn't even notice, I thought the only difference was the 1080P output and superior digital signal offered by HDMI.

Re: Capcom's Former GameCube Exclusive Resident Evil 4 Is Reportedly Getting A Remake

Livewired

@Wavey84 RE Remake on GCN is absolutely stunning on CRT is you used a GCN RGB cable, browns, golds, metals, deep green foliage all shine through - if you played it, you likely used a composite cable like most youtubers, which is fuzzy and lifeless in all games. Of course the PS1 version has character but I always preferred RE Remake on GCN.

The rerelease on Switch/PS4/xbox/pc is no different other than cropping for 16:9 and outputting at 1080p.

Re: Capcom's Former GameCube Exclusive Resident Evil 4 Is Reportedly Getting A Remake

Livewired

@Richnj There are alot of misconceptions. RE3 takes place before Code Veronica as far as I recall. RE3 is also arguably better than Code Veronica, which is massively overrated simply because it arrived on Dreamcast.

I think there are too much muddy waters now over what was what due to it being on Dreamcast - so many Sega fanboys have been vigourosly and furiously rewriting gaming history online this past few years. To the point now they'd have everyone believe Saturn was some untapped 3D powerhouse. Capcom never considered CV as their third game.

Re: Poll: Does Resident Evil 4 Really Need The REmake Treatment?

Livewired

@Priceless_Spork The blinkers of a high number of Nintendo gamers never fails to astound me. You all need to look at the bigger picture and economics bud.

REMAKES take LESS TIME AND RESOURCES, make MILLIONS, build fanbases, expand their markets, PR and brand recognition.

A high percentage of the profits of remakes goes into FUNDING, R&D and RESOURCES for the next game in the series or for NEW IP development.

Capcom, Nintendo et all have MULTIPLE TEAMS AND STUDIOS who are all working on MULTIPLE ideas at one time, some don't aren't heard off and some aren't ever released, if there are no games being released while their studios are spending so much time in development HOW ARE THEY GOING TO PAY THEIR STAFF AND KEEP MAKING GAMES?

Sorry for the CAPS lock bud, but just highlighting the most basic points of business that all Nintendo gamers should start thinking about.

It's not just Capcom, people with your mindset were moaning about OoT and MM 3DS for the same reasons without looking at the bigger picture. Both those games provided much needed funding for the development of Breath of the Wild.
