Re: Nintendo: Switch 2's Backwards Compatibility Feature Is The "Best Direction" For Consumers

Lightsiyd

@Mana_Knight The "consumer" nonsense is likely an attempt to avoid classifying everyone as part of Gamergate 2. And the ridiculous virtue-signalling of some the commenters makes it evident that the "consumer" nonsense has its merits.

Now you can be a consumer and not a gamer even if you're a gamer and a consumer. Makes me want to put my eyes in the washing machine, but to each his own.

@bleeflooflah @larryisaman

It's from playing and replaying the game on hard mode, 100% completion every time. Yeah, I'm in love with the world, the way Samus moves, the powers, the sequence breaks, bosses, Shinesparking, Adam's mission briefings, everything. It ties so well into my love of Metroid Fusion, and it is everything I wanted it to be. I don't wanna speedrun, for me it's not the point.

For me personally, if I give a game a 10/10 it effectively means I can replay it endlessly - that's one of my conditions for that rating. But this ability is kind of also a quirk of mine(maybe). I reread each of the first five Harry Potter books at least 10 times, one of the books I love on Wuxiaworld (Star Odyssey, with over 3.500 chapters) 3 times, and have reread the manga of One Piece (over 1k chapters) at least 8 times. It's just me, maybe.

Metroid Dread is currently sitting at 145+ hours played total, and that number will go up when I'm done with ASTLIBRA revision, Archvale, and Swordship. The game is dream come true for me, honestly.

Metroid Dread at 100+ hours (counting for this year only)
Astral Ascent at 80+ hours
Have a Nice Death at 60+ hours.

But to be fair, Astlibra would have beaten out Have a Nice Death if I'd gotten it sooner. Shame.

@beartown Different people have different tastes. There are people that swear by BoTW and Elden Ring, and I don't like both games (Although I would enjoy Elden Ring if I was able to mod out the grinding)

Re: Hideki Kamiya Expresses Remorse Over Harsh Treatment Of Ōkami Fan

@-wc-

I'm not sure what you are talking about, world becoming heaven? determined to hate? pretty dramatic stuff.

Guy stated that he left Platinum because they wanted to focus on anti-consumer policies, but all y'all can focus on practically any article about him is how he banned some people and did not cuddle them with his words. Which is why I used the word 'hate'. But perhaps I should have gone with 'dissatisfaction' so it wouldn't be a 'dramatic' statement.

I believe you and the rest expressing such dissatisfaction are focusing on the wrong things and taking it out of context (especially with how he explained himself publicly and to be honest, even if he hadn't). Anyhow, to each his own. Cheers to you as well.

@-wc- Mistreated by grumpy men how?

1st of all, I think you're taking the whole situation out of context.

2nd of all, coulda woulda shoulda. The world will not become heaven just because you want it to. Kamiya explained his behavior in a few YouTube videos. Nothing can convince an attitude determined to hate though, and I think that's really what your problem is.

And lastly, as for not being impressed by his games, aren't you the same person who said they didn't like Metroid Dread because of the EMMI zones, even though those were inspired by the SA-X sections of Metroid Fusion? Yeah, based on that, I'd say I'm grateful that Bayonetta 2 - at the very least - is a game you weren't impressed by.

Re: Surprise Leak Reveals Lenovo Is Releasing Another Switch-Like Gaming Handheld

Lightsiyd

I love the Switch. That said, most of Nintendo's 1st party titles are focused on casual gamers, and this has frustrated me for quite awhile. Meanwhile, the PC gaming scene has nearly everything, with less restrictions across the board and the ability to mod my games...

All of this without even getting into my dissatisfaction with the Palworld lawsuit and their other BS. So yes, I will scoff at Sony and Microsoft being able to compete with Nintendo for at least the next gaming generation, but the PC scene is definitely a credible threat. With powerful handhelds like the ROG Ally X already in circulation and this new Lenovo Legion Go on the horizon, things should become very interesting in the near future.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2024 Is Astro Bot

Lightsiyd

@Kyloctopus It just proves that something was also wrong with the nominees. Pay attention to news that focuses on the games gamers have been caring about and you'll be sure of this. Or just watch the Golden Joystick Awards.

Re: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024

Lightsiyd

@Yalloo Haha, that's a cool situation to be in. I don't have much of a backlog myself. Cheers!!

@FishyS The demo is misleading about the pacing of the game - it's much slower-paced than is shown in the demo. The game also feels relatively empty in terms of upgrades over time - you do get a lot of upgrades, but you can only use very few from start to finish. You can think of it like being limited to using 3 charms in the entirety of Hollow Knight.

To summarise, the game is very engaging and will keep you playing provided you don't mind the challenging bosses, but not actually very fun. The demo gave me the impression of a 9, but the game itself is an 8. Playing it for me felt like being a hungry kid who hadn't eaten all day, but only being allowed a few spoonfuls of soup despite being surrounded by a delicious banquet. It might feel different for you based your preferences. What comments about Brothership gave you a negative impression?
