Re: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024

Lightsiyd

I only got 3 games from this year and have been focusing on other years.

*****************
Personal 2024 GOTY - Cat Quest III, rated 9/10
Other 2024 games
Added a day later - Elsie - 8/10 - Amazing game. Removed my hatred of platforming games.
Prince of Persia the Lost Crown - 8/10
Voidwrought - 8/10. (First time being thoroughly mislead by a demo. Interesting experience)
****************

Other games bought this year and rated 9/10 or higher, that did not come out this year.

(9) Swordship - Crazy, turn-your-brain-off fun.
(9 ) Archvale - deliciously challenging with great music
(9) Azure Striker GUNVOLT: STRIKER PACK - Copen Rocks
(9) Contra Anniversary Collection - brutal but distinctly fun
(9) Gal*Gun Double Peace - unexpectedly relaxing.
(10) Astral Ascent - Perfection, best Roguelite experience ever.
(9) Saints Row IV: Re-Elected - Overturned my expectations.
(9) ASTLIBRA Revisions. Fun combat, but the story is a mixed bag.

Haha, just listing these games puts a silly smile on my face. Good times ❤︎♥︎❤︎

Re: Opinion: Nintendo Needs To Let Us Block The Crap On Switch 2's eShop

Lightsiyd

To be honest I can't remember the last time I browsed the eShop for games. I already know what I'm looking for before I go to the eShop and if not, it's already in the wishlist.
I agree a publisher filter would be useful, and that Nintendo should mandate AI generated games being labeled as such. Having to get all my info away from the eShop before I get to it can't be a win for Nintendo, can it?

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Lightsiyd

The "Console Arms Race" is very stupid IMO. Whether it's the 150GB requirement space of the games that are a result of this, or the 10+ years of development cycles, or AAA games needing to sell upwards of 5million copies just to break even, the entire thing is a slow-strangulation, guaranteed recipe for disaster that will not be sustainable long-term unless something miraculous happens to the gaming industry at large.

But hey, they can continue running towards the edge of the cliff if they want. Make games that need 700GB space, 35+ years of development time, 6Billion dollar budget. It'll be fun watching them crash and burn before they wake up.

Re: Anniversary: 20 Years On, Metroid Prime 2 Represents The Franchise At Its Experimental Best

@rvcolem1 Interesting. What device did you play Fallen Order on? Also, have you played Jedi: Survivor and if you have, which did you enjoy more and why?

If I remember correctly, you finished Metroid Dread on Dread mode, correct? In any case, I'll do my best to give MPR another shot. It's still a very engaging game in the end and I hope my initial dislike is my aversion to FPS hindering me, and not an inability to enjoy the game. I don't recall the ghost-like enemies, but I do hate the ones that can only be killed with missiles in the first icy region.

@rvcolem1 I never played the Prime games growing up. My first time playing a Prime game was Metroid Prime Remastered a few months ago. I've been planning to give it another try but motivating myself to play a low 8/10 (or high 7/10) when I've been getting myself 9/10 games lately is hard (because I strongly believe a good game makes you want to play it, you don't have to motivate yourself to want to play).

I believe my biggest issue with the game is the tedium brought on by the checkpoint/save point system of older games (which is why I'm willing to give beyond a shot). But along with not really being fun, the lack of a feeling of empowerment is also a huge deal personally and the biggest reason it doesn't feel like a Metroid game to me. I really really want to enjoy the game because it's Metroid, but it is what it is.

Re: Take-Two Boss Shares Thoughts On 'Switch 2' And Backwards Compatibility

Lightsiyd

@OorWullie It wouldn't make much sense if it had backwards-compatibility and the eShop didn't carry over. One of the selling points of the idea of backwards-compatibility is a new Nintendo user being able to access older titles on the most current-gen consoles.

The question is how much of the eShop will carry over. I was able to access my copy of Nier-Automata, Batman, and Dragon Age: Inquisition (all purchased on my PS4) on the Playstation store via my brother's PS5 (and I finished Nier Automata on the PS5 last year)

Re: Review: Yakuza Kiwami (Switch) - A Decent Port Of An Ambitious, Frustrating Game

Lightsiyd

@Arawn93 True. I've been using them for a while now, and I usually come off with most or all of the information I need to decide whether to buy a game or not, whereas on here I get told next to nothing because they want to please the anti-spoiler crowd...

It's not just SwitchUp though. YouTube content creators have generally become a more genuine source of information than video game journalist sites like IGN and Kotaku. That's because these sites are often compromised beyond hope and their integrity is severely diminished.
