@LadyCharlie I'm admittedly not clear on the controversy around Ancel, but the last place I would trust for information is Kotaku. Someone from Kotaku recently tried to cancel Thomas Mahler (director of the Ori games) for dubious reasons.

@nessisonett I remember seeing them receive some backlash on Nintendo Life, but that tune quickly changed (at the very least on NL) after the devs explained more about the game and it was re-emphasized that the playable character wasn't the Prince. But if there was backlash from other gamers, it wouldn't have been from Gamergate 2.

@Mr_Zurkon It's a fun game in most aspects. I really enjoyed most of the side quests in it as well, especially the shooting challenges and the music puzzles. The combat was nice too. It's a shame. But considering how Ubisoft has handled sequels lately, it may have been a blessing.

@nessisonett Unless I'm very mistaken about some details, Gamergate 2 started after Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown came out, so it wasn't targeted by anyone afaik.

Also, Gamergate 2 began because Sweet Baby Inc targeted someone and tried to get them cancelled, inadvertently triggering a streisand effect, so if that's what you're referring to, you've got the details backwards.

Ubisoft has been very controversial in all the wrong ways for too long. Thank the stars and praise the sun for indie devs.

I'm not sure I understand your concern. Patents have very little to do with gaming in general, and the patents in question are all related to technical processes which SEGA invested billions to develop and license to other companies. They have nothing to do with "gameplay". Gameplay isn't something you can patent.

How can you say they have very little to do with gameplay when these technical processes would be the foundation of gameplay?

If I'm understanding what you're saying correctly, then Nintendo would be in the right for claiming ownership over the act of putting a live animal in a game into a self-contained spatial storage like a Pokeball, which seems like bull to me. They'd have to get in line behind Xianxia authors first.

There's something I want to be clear on - are you claiming that Nintendo has a right over the concept itself based on a bit of coding, or are you saying they have a right over a very specific "coding syntax" for lack of a better word?

Well said. Concerning your comment Banjo, there is a petition going on that could rectify some consumer rights in the gaming industry. I wish I knew how to directly embed a YouTube video here so this would be easier, so if any of you know, I'd appreciate it if you shared that knowledge. @Banjo- @Samalik I commend you both on your stance and your replies. They get away with this kind of thing all the more when people don't take a firm stand and instead choose to settle for too little. If people had stood up to microtransactions with a steadfast mentality when they first appeared, they wouldn't be so prevalent today.

Cat Quest III was/is a delightful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough from start to end and I wish The Gentlebros all the very best.

The people talking about how these changes are 'not a big deal' remind me of the tale of the frog in the slowly boiling pot. The level of integrity of anyone who censors these things towards the games they are editing is a clue as to how much they care about it, which affects how well they will treat the product they are editing. But I guess it's easier to just keep burying your heads in the sand.

Those looking at Dragon Quest should beware that it has been censored, so take that into consideration.

This is why it is NOT smart to blindly side with Nintendo. The biggest losers will be the gamers if Nintendo wins.

I abandoned Nintendo because I was disgusted with the DS, and I came back to them because of Bayonetta. If Bayonetta had not existed, I would have returned for Metroid Dread. As for whatever false pride they have and their reasons for such, I don't give a damn.

I don't exactly enjoy taking a cold-blooded stance toward Nintendo, but the recent Palworld lawsuit has left me infuriated with them.

@LuXifer You really should expose yourself to more information. Sony would have gobbled up Nintendo, that's what would have happened and that's why Nintendo backed out last minute. Why did you think Nintendo backed out of it?
