Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th August)

@somnambulance I'm really looking forward to trying out Wonder eventually. The art style alone makes me drool. I am definitely on board with the overrated theory, and I think 2023 was objectively better.
@OwenGamer22 how much did you enjoy the Mega Man X games? I couldn't get over the old-school style of the one I tried.

@somnambulance Yeah, the misses are always quite the letdown, even if one can't always expect to have a hit.
I understand 2023 was a particularly strong year for most, but for me, I was just re-entering into gaming after a rather dry spell. I'm glad Prince of Persia was a 9 for you. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy it to that level. Cheers.

I've been having a blast with Cat Quest III. It's everything the demo promised and the fun simply never stops!!! Ranks among the three best things to happen to my Switch library this year. ❤︎

If anyone is looking for a bite-sized, heartwarming, 2D turn-based RPG filled with a touching story, engaging combat, cute poems, and the ability to fly around the stage like a Child of Light, then I heartily recommend Child of Light Ultimate Edition. It's a wonderful game whose story and captivating fights have had me enthralled until Cat Quest III (temporarily) pried me from its grip.

Vampire Survivors has been in an interesting spot ever since I got it. It's engaging enough for short bursts of play, but never really quite enough for it to leave a strong impression on me. Still, a great game worth having overall!!

Finally, I'm currently on difficulty level 7 (Destiny 6) in Astral Ascent. The Zodiacs may currently be handing me the beat-down as I work to understand their new attack patterns, but I WILL TRIUMPH OVER ALL!!!

Happy gaming, everyone!!! ❤︎♥︎❤︎

Re: Sega Profits Boosted By Angry Birds Creator Acquisition

@fenlix They made some very poor marketing choices during the Saturn and Dreamcast era. They had a lot of negative momentum from the Sega Saturn when they released the Dreamcast, and their release window worked against them. So yeah you could say they sucked.

The Dreamcast though... that is still my favorite console in terms of design, and I had a grand time with the Sega Mega Drive. So many great memories.

@fenlix Why do you say I don't need to grind? In two of the shops, there are some materials I have to obtain and upgrade before I can acquire them, and that requires some grinding. Are there alternative ways of obtaining those things then?

In any case, bosses and even mini-bosses are interspersed between lengthy areas of exploration, which is most definitely not my cup of tea.

Wait, have you played Monstrum Nox? Is it filled with cannon fodder enemies and focused on exploration as well? I played the demo and liked it because it has great parkour, but going by what you're saying, I'm better off avoiding it?

@the_beaver Regular combat felt like it didn't matter if I used skills or I didn't - like it didn't matter if I played with focused attention or I didn't - like I could get through by button mashing, with the exception being mini-bosses and bosses. It gave off a loose feeling.

RPGs are not my main genre. I enjoy them when they have good combat and good parkour otherwise, I struggle with retaining interest. I thoroughly enjoyed Tales of Beseria and Dragon Age Origins, but I couldn't get into Lacrimosa of Dana despite making a conscious effort to, and wanting to enjoy it.

Re: Warner Bros. Is Reportedly Looking To Sell A Stake In Its Games Business

That moment when you would wish a conglomerate good luck if only they did not stand for everything you stand against. Like the things that led to their bad luck in the first place.

Since they want to double down on live service games and microtransactions they can take this opportunity to double down on selling stakes as well. You know, build momentum.

@LikelySatan You were taking a jab at me, I think. But let me clarify, my comment was mocking the poster in the context of it being an artwork, not in the context of it being a woman's face. It was thus, at least in my view at the time I commented, NOT intended to be misanthropic. However, seeing as how you're very happy going to town with the negative insinuations, I have edited it.
