Re: Report Finds Elementary School Students In Japan Use 3DS As Their Main Music Player

LightBeam

Now put some functionalities in the Switch please
I know a few people will use them, like the browser and stuff, but it's way more convenient to have all these tools in one proper device, especially when you are traveling
When I'm in a train, I really don't like to struggle finding my phone while I'm playing with my Switch, it's not convenient and I'm feeling like I'm disturbing the guy next to me
And I'm not even talking about folders, a better menu UI etc ...

Re: Random: Reggie Sparks Metroid Game Awards Reveal Rumours With Tasteful Choice Of Shirt

LightBeam

Well, could be a hint ... Could be not
Reggie is fully aware about the Metroid fans wanting more news about the game, he's not dumb, I don't think that he would wear a Metroid shirt and go to a place where he would have to take photos without thinking about the fans trying to see a hint in that
Could be nothing, but now I'm waiting for a trailer, it's more than a year without any sign, just need something ... Even if you don't have gameplay to show, just show some CGI trailer so I can watch it everyday until the game's release

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

LightBeam

@Dalarrun I'm a PC guy. I don't have any Sony or XBox console. I'm mostly playing on PC, the Switch and 3DS are my only current consoles. So I never actually bought an online subscription before. So yes, this is subjective, but being a PC player or not does make you more complacent or not. But as you said, the value is subjective because you will find more or less interesting in features than I will. But as I said. I can, for example, accept that I'll have to use a smartphone app. But it still dumb and sub-standard. But if it was the only flaw, I would gladly pay 20$ a year for that. But well, that's not the only flaw sadly. So that's what I wanted to say. There are flaws, people here like you can close your eyes on these, because, well, you just want to play games and that's alright. But it doesn't make the system good, because it's not. I'm not saying that you are wrong to pay for that because at least you can play like it was before, and well, it was never supposed to stay free forever so any complaint about "oh it was free before that's bs that I have to pay for the same thing" is dumb because ... well, we knew from the start that it was meant to be charged. So if you only care about playing online, good for you bro, really, I understand that you feel ok paying 20$ a year just for that because at least, in Splatoon 2, Mario Kart and stuff, the online service is working pretty well in my opinion and that's maybe the most important.
But well. I don't play online that much, so if it does not improve, it will still not that worth the money
But even if I believe and say that the service is not worth 20$, it doesn't make you wrong about being content of the service. Thanks for the discussion anyway, it was nice to see some good people talking nicely, have a great day too !

Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

LightBeam

Watching people gettin angry about the fact that hackers just do what they usually do, make use of the systems they buy makes me smile
Oooh these scummy hackers !! Thieves !!
@ClassSonicSatAm they don't care about being banned or whatever, they just want to find the little secrets on a hardware we still know little
People just sayin "oh geez just get a psp" don't get it, the goal is not to actually play NES games, the goal is to find the leaks, to understand what is going on with the app, what is sent to Nintendo or what isn't is only a little part of a whole. These people are just having fun their own way. They are not always thieves who just want to steal games yknow

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

LightBeam

@Dalarrun The fact that we have to pay for online isn't the problem there. If the service was actually good, we would spend 20$ without any problem, and that's my opinion since the very beginning of the online service announcement
The problem is that for 20$, it still not good. The application is almost worthless, the only good thing it does is finally let us talk to strangers but besides that, you better go on Discord where you have one place to send messages and call.
Having a smartphone app to complete a functionality that should be available on the console ... Well, it's not good, but I can accept that at the very least. But the smartphone app isn't even good. When it will, I will reconsider.

When you want to launch a paid online service, whatever the price is, there's some standards you have to respect. Having to rely on Facebook or Twitter to send messages like "hey mate go on Nintendo Switch Online App !" while you could just go on Discord and call directly is just a dumb idea, if you are willing to pay 20$ for that, that's good for you, but it's not worth it for a lot of people
Imagine if on Steam you weren't able to have a friends list for example. It would be free, but it would suck, you could pay me to use Steam, but it still would suck. That's the same for the Nintendo Online Service. It's cheap. But it still sucks. And being cheap shouldn't be an excuse especially when it's almost necessary to have this.

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

LightBeam

@Spudworthy I don't think we act like we were betrayed. Well, I can assure that's not my case
You are right, we knew that it wasn't supposed to be free forever so we were prepared, but still, the main problem I have with the service is that it's still not worth 4$ a month in my opinion
They kept silent when we wanted to be sure about what we will get a few months ago, so alright, complaining about having to pay just to play online is not an argument because we knew the online service wasn't meant to be free forever, but come on ... The cloud saves deleted as soon as you unsubscribe? The inability to back up your own saves in the sd card or whatever?
Being cheap doesn't make these acceptable, like come on ... They rely on social media to invite your friends to talk on the app? What about gettin a simple message functionality right into the smartphone application or the console? Even the simplest things like that aren't there, so even if the service was 1$ a year, it would still be sub-sub standard imho
I just hope it will get updates and improve as time goes on, but at the time, it's not worth paying for it imo

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

LightBeam

@Spudworthy Seems like you don't understand why people want dedicated servers instead of P2P
It's because dedicated servers are always more fair, in P2P, the host has always the advantage, all the time because he can hit you faster than you will and when the whole point of the game is shooting, this is not a good idea

For the rest (the rest of my message is not specially addressed to you), well, I think it's just a shame that some (too much actually) people here look damn angry when somebody criticizes Nintendo in whatever aspect
Do we have to be here when we only have something nice to say? I don't think so, if we think that the service is sub-standard, then we are called whiners ? Guys we are litteraly paying for this now, so of course as consumers we have the right to be angry about something that was free before, and if we don't think that the service is of value, where's the problem ? You think it is, good for you, but don't get mad at people who doesn't agree. Even if it's "only" 20$ for a year, it's still money that we weren't charged before, and who cares about xbox or playstation being more expensive, maybe their service is worth 60 bucks. 20$ or not, the Nintendo Online Service is still sub standard, and when I see that even in the smartphone app they prefer to direct people to social networks like Facebook or Twitter to call for friends to get on the app to have voice chat instead of just having some messaging system when Discord is out, I can even call that sub-sub standard, that's just archaic, I can't pay 20 dollars for that, not at the moment. Don't tell us "oh don't complain, it will improve", yes I hope it will, but they had almost 2 years, that's already too much time wasted working on these dumb smartphone app decisions

Re: High-Speed Hack And Slash Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae Slices Up Switch Next Week

LightBeam

Already got it on PC, didn't played it that much but it is ok, not really my kind of game but meh, it's just a little sad that you are just in a plain circle, ennemies come to you and then you slash the way you want with combos, like a proper hack & slash
But at least in an hack & slash or a beat them up, you can actually move around, see some places, tell some story by the environment.
This, is just a circle, but I've heard it's a genre, and some people like it, so why not, but the enemies aren't really diversified so it gets boring pretty quickly in my opinion

Re: Video: Nintendo Releases Story Trailer For Free-To-Start Mobile Game Dragalia Lost

LightBeam

I don't care about the story is these gatcha mobile games
But the gameplay looks really cool and the multiplayer mode sold me the game
Well, it's still a mobile game, so it's not that awesome, but it still looks pretty good for a mobile game, so I'll try
But I live in Europe so ... Well whatever I'll take it with a way or another
Oh, and of course I will not spend a single cent on this

Re: All-Star Fruit Racing Finally Gets Online Support On Switch

LightBeam

35 euros ? That's too much when Mario Kart 8 is there
I have nothing against playing some other karting games, I love that, but 35e is really too much

EDIT : Looks like in France the game cost 40€, while the price is fixed at 25e on Steam ... That's even worse than I first thought

Re: Suda51 Wants To Develop No More Heroes 3, But Is Focused On Travis Strikes Again For Now

LightBeam

I mean, if you love the universe, this game looks like a really good spin off, it will be cool to spend some time on it with a friend, nothing more
You can't always expect something exactly like the previous games. I think it's a little sad to be interested only in the games you know but whatever, it's just that I like sometimes to try some games I'm not used to play, so even if I'm not really into top 2D slashers, it's a No More Heroes game, so that's an occasion to see if I'll like or not
Im just talking about the guys who just don't care as soon as they see that it's not like the other games, if you really don't like it, well whatever, but just set it aside because it's just a 2D top slasher is still kinda dumb imo

Re: Nintendo And ROM Website Owner Looking To Avoid Lengthy Court Proceedings

LightBeam

Just release classic games on Switch for God's sake
What's the point of taking action against rom websites if you don't bring a way to get these legaly ? Even Nintendo already used these "illegals roms" for their WiiWare service so they know how these are used
Come on, just give us the informations we need about your online service, what's the replacement of the VirtualConsole etc etc, everybody is waiting for that

Re: Hardware Review: Hori D-Pad Joy-Con Controller For Nintendo Switch

LightBeam

I'll stick with the regular "dpad", I'll just use the pro controller if I need the dpad. The pro controller is really the best controller I never used, I use it for my Steam games instead of the Xbox One controller I have (I still use it for the games I don't have on Steam)
Is people buying more and more joycons just because of the new colors or dpad ? I mean, people who still buy joycons are the people who don't already own 4 joycons, isn't it ?

Re: This Switch Dongle Can Replace Your Dock And Includes An Ethernet Port

LightBeam

"just use the official dock"
People here can't just understand that SOMETIMES when you want to take your console with you, a dongle like that could be useful if you go in a friend's home or something ?

It just the bricking thing that is really worrying, but besides that, what's the point of always repeating "'just use the regular dock", that's bs
At home the regular dock is ok tho, even if it scratches but I have a glass tempered screen so its ok, but my god all these times I had to transport this big dock just to play at a friend's house was painful. If someday we have the confirmation that it no longer brick the console I'll consider gettin one of those

Re: Guide: The Best Metroid Games - Every Metroid Game Ranked

LightBeam

"We don't want to stop what we're doing to do another thing"

I absolutely disagree
Of course they can do other things with Metroid. The main character can be someone else, the game can be linear, it can be focused on multiplayer, it can be anything, as long as it is a good game
Other M wasn't that bad, but Sakamoto's will to stick with the wiimote only was such a bad idea, the team Ninja wanted to do something good. Metroid as a beat them all but with it's touch ? Why not, they could have done something great, sadly it turned bad
Whatever, what is done is done, but it doesn't mean that fans doesn't like what "is not Metroid"

Re: Paladins Is Now Available As A Free Download On Switch

LightBeam

I like the game
I still prefer Overwatch, which is far better in my opinion, but Paladins is still really fun when you don't have some people insulting you for absolutely no reason
But if I can't get my PC account on this, I don't think I will play it on Switch sadly
