Re: Random: Poor Junichi Masuda Can't Even Enjoy His Birthday Without Someone Moaning About Missing Pokémon

LightBeam

I'm getting really tired of Nintendo Life's way of talking about it.
So this famous Damien McFerran would have more than a decade of experience in professional writing? It doesn't seem so, at least I don't think so and the quality of these articles proves it.
Masuda's answer is not even intelligent. There are accounts managed by industry personalities that are managed in a much more fun way, whether it's towards haters or fans (the example of Hideki Naganuma comes to mind, he's constantly getting requests to port).
And now you're trying to make people who love Pokémon and only want a better game, who are ambitious and who don't mess around are toxic and egocentric? Evidently they are at least a little egocentric, it's with their own money that they buy the games Gamefreak produces, it's not a charity. So for the moment, from what I see, it's rather the big fans ready to accept anything that's the most toxic, to give names to those who disagree and express their opinions. Really very disappointed with the editorial direction of the site, I don't think I'll continue to visit the site daily from now on, I'd go looking for my news somewhere else, where I wouldn't feel like a baby writing an article to piss on people he doesn't know and whose motivations and complaints he doesn't understand.

Re: GameStop's Internal Database Lists Multiple New SKU For Nintendo Switch

LightBeam

@JR150 Welcome to the Internet. Should we stop having fun trying to guess what's going to be announced? I don't think so, but if you call that being "selfish" and "thinking only about yourself" then I'm going to have to rethink the state of mind I should be in when I'm watching Nintendo Direct: Do I want to be hyped by announcements that I think are interesting and will make me buy games, or do I want others to have fun before me, even if there's nothing else interesting? Because I don't care, I want to play games on my console that interest me, so people can have their own stuff, that' cool for them but I don't give one, so please explain to me what I have to think about not to be selfish.
Does being disappointed make you a fake fan? Since you put the word "fan" in quotation marks, that's clearly what you're implying anyway.
I too think there are a lot of idiots out there who are really getting their hopes up, like we're going to get a StarFox, an F-Zero, a new Mario 3D and a new Zelda with 2 Metroid simultaneous releases, but I don't know if you realize how your comment is exactly the kind of comment that's even more horrible than the old trash comments of disappointed guys who are just going to go away. I mean, really... It's just bad.

Re: Talking Point: Even Dexit Couldn't Derail The Pokémon Hype Train In 2019

LightBeam

@johnvboy "but it's a solid entry to the series" Lmao but that's the case with all Pokémon games, it doesn't make sense to say that. Whether or not flaws can be noticed doesn't mean anything either.
It's not about enjoying the game (I don't care if people like the game), it's about the fact that if you like the game, then you'll have to accept the decline in quality that's been going on since at least Black & White 2. Sometimes I like games or other products that I describe as "crap", but I like them anyway. It's the same with Pokémon, no matter how much you like it, you'll just have to accept the fact that the more time goes by, the worse it gets because Gamefreak makes stupid decisions, lies openly to the fans (because it's the fans who read the news about the upcoming Pokémon game releases, not little Kevin who sees the ad on TV and writes it on his Christmas list) and you're one of the people who's willing to buy the product anyway. I wouldn't want to be in that position, but then again, if you don't mind, then I have nothing to say about it (no irony at all), but you can't stop people from talking about it.
Personally, I'm not going to buy any more Pokémon games until they make a real change, something that really renews the game, or makes me want to buy it anyway, because it's over, we're coming to 2020, and there are some absolutely gorgeous games coming, I can get so much better for the same price that I'm not going to insult myself by buying a Pokémon game that thinks I'm a retarded kid (and I stress retarded, because the game is so easy that no one will make me think it's hard for a child. The difficulty of the game is not child-friendly, it's baby-friendly).

Re: Talking Point: Even Dexit Couldn't Derail The Pokémon Hype Train In 2019

LightBeam

@eaglebob345 "Also, the games are never going to be super difficult because, regardless of anyone's opinion, the games are geared towards kids." That's dumb. The target has always been the children, from the first game, it doesn't mean the game hasn't been made easier and they're right to do it. I'm not going to insult you by giving you examples, they're so obvious. But then, do you think children deserve easier games than us at their age? I don't think so, I don't think kids deserve to be given s*** or easy stuff "just because they're kids" and that makes it an excusable reason. Children can enjoy games like BoTW or Mario Odyssey, which aren't necessarily incredibly easy, but are still of exceptional quality, games that don't insult their intelligence in the end.
Do you agree with Masuda when he says that since everyone is even busier than before, they have to make the game easier, otherwise we'd be tempted to go and play something else on our phones or something? I think that's a completely stupid reason and I don't see how the fact that a game is easier makes us want to spend more time playing it. I think Dark Souls has proven otherwise, and I think it's really incredible that a manager of a profitable franchise like Pokémon would come up with such a stupid argument for the ease with which the franchise is being run.
But after all, if people keep buying the games, even when they're worse than before, they'll never change. What's sad is to observe that in the end, the game with the most content, the most "balanced", will be Black/White 2, which will be released in 2012. I hope with all my heart that they'll release a game capable of at least matching the quality of this title, but for that, people will have to stop bickering for nothing. If you like Pokemon, buy the game if you want, but there's a point where you shouldn't cry when people tell you things: the game is objectively worse than the previous ones.

Re: Talking Point: Even Dexit Couldn't Derail The Pokémon Hype Train In 2019

LightBeam

Dexit is just one of the many problems the game have
The games are worse than ever, some people should need to understand that Nintendo released BoTW because people and critics voiced their concerns about Skyward Sword being repetitive and feeling "old", so they changed to formula and brought us a pure masterpiece, but the Pokemon fanboys won't ask for any change in regards to that, so whatever, maybe I'll get the Diamond remake as this one is really into me (I expect it to be good tho, because if it's not, remake or not, I will not buy it), but after that ? I'll better keep my wallet for something that's worth my money

Re: Game Freak Considered "Changing Up" The Battle System In Pokémon Sword And Shield

LightBeam

They always talk for nothing, it's absurd
"Yes we know that 4 attacks is really the best number of attacks because otherwise it's not balanced", well f*****g glad they said it otherwise I would never have noticed that since they have a turn-based combat system with 4 attacks for decades, the simple fact of changing the number of attacks will upset the whole design of the game built since day 1 and cause big imbalances, forcing us to change everything from A to Z, thanks Game Freak for warning us because it was a question we were all asking ourselves and we needed the advice of qualified people.
Now when do you stop laughing at people by coming out of half-finished games just to get the new ones in versions "3"? The still ridiculous animations and the national Pokédex?
I mean now I'm not bothering myself anymore, I know I wouldn't buy it, but I find it particularly pitiful to talk about topics that are, I find, absolutely irrelevant just to talk about the game and dodge the questions that are asked of them the most. The problem with Game Freak is that they make too many games at the same time and since Pokemon is successful, they can release games that are not crazy and still make a lot of crazy money. The fact that it doesn't make people react questions me, because for Mario Kart Tour, everyone reacts. For Battlefront 2, everyone reacts. But for Pokemon, which releases "good" versions almost every other time, there is nothing.
So I'm patiently waiting for the day when Game Freak will no longer develop Pokemon games and someone else will take the torch. Maybe that day will never come, but I will patiently wait for eternity, and the day that it comes, a flame of hope will be reborn, maybe that flame will go out directly, or maybe it will shine with a thousand fires to become something very beautiful.
Game Freak, on the other hand, only reminds me of a poop. Even "Town" reminds me of a poop, telling me that they don't get into a good Pokemon game just to develop an original not so good game (because they know deep down that they are losing influence and that they won't be on Pokemon forever, so they might as well try to build a presence with something else but well... They fail)

Anyway, concentrate and play a good game, at least for once.
Do you think Breath of the Wild could have been the game it is if the people who worked on it hadn't put all their energy into it? What if Nintendo hadn't concentrated the maximum number of resources required?
Of course not, otherwise each Zelda would be recognized as a big crazy slap in the face that redefines the video game at each iteration, except that it's not the case, we know that some of them are "just nice", but still when they saw the criticism about the formula becoming too repetitive, that Skyward Sword was proof that the game developers no longer had too many ideas about Zelda, they realized that something else had to do, and that it was good

While here for Pokemon, it's just a matter of making a lot of money while trying to make some original games to try to survive if there's ever more Pokemon to ensure their presence. Except that since they already make 2 different versions of Pokemon in addition to at least one original game, they find themselves doing things not crazy... The only thing that makes Pokemon good is that the formula at the beginning worked well, and so they've been doing the same thing ever since. I would love it if Nintendo could make a real Pokemon for once, a real RPG, as usual, but if they could take care of a real project, a very ambitious one... It could be very cool.

Re: Switch Lite Added To Joy-Con Drift Class Action Lawsuit

LightBeam

There is clearly a problem and Nintendo don't want to fix it, it seems ?
I mean, yeah they are "fixing it for free" (you are just using your warranty, they are not fixing it for free because they are kind ...) but they seem to underestimate the problem and that's annoying. Got 4 joycons, 4 got drifting problems.
So seeing that it's still there on the Switch Lite is a problem, clearly they just don't take this that seriously. The Switch Pro don't have that problem, the Xbox controllers doesn't, the PS4 controller doesn't, a lot of other controllers doesn't, and even there in the comments we can see how people who didn't met this problem are underestimating this. We are not talking about "people who are just rough" or people that are complaining about "occasionnal drifting issues", we are talking about the controllers having serious drifting issues even when you put them in a f*ing drawer, out of the dust, and start to drift when you pick it up a week after like it's Initial D.

I guess I'll just buy some joysticks on ebay and do the repair myself now that all my joycons are out of warranty. Maybe it wouldn't drive me crazy if I didn't bought 2 of them for almost 80€, if I knew I would have to fix these myself, I would have bargained the price

Re: Review: Mario Kart Tour - Steer Around The Gacha For A Fun, Free Take On The Series

LightBeam

Got used to the controls, but the gyro controls are still really bad and really, do they really allow people to play with manual drifting and not being able to turn without drifting ??? In a racing game ??? That's just weird
Overall it's a pretty good game, mobile standards tho, I'm having a lot of fun with it now that I'm used to it, but the controls still needs to get fixed

Also in the negative points, I would have put "No online play available at launch"

Re: PlatinumGames Thanks Players For Making Astral Chain "Such A Success"

LightBeam

I'm glad they were successful, really. I was afraid that with this kind of game, in addition to Switch exclusivity, and just at the end of August, the game would pass a little under the eyes and everyone would forget it because Zelda was coming. Very happy to see that people bought it and loved the game for its true value. It's really an excellent game, one of the best of PlatinumGames, that's for sure. Hideki Kamiya did not disappoint.

Re: Video: Here's How Xenoblade Chronicles' Switch Remaster Compares To The Wii Original

LightBeam

That's really beautiful, I'll pick it up even if I did finished Xenoblade on the Wii when it came out (I was little and I finished it with cheats, but idc, I had fun and I wasn't mature enough to understand properly how to play and farm in a jrpg)

Still hopping for a port of Xenoblade X tho, I played it for a few hours on CEMU and I still think it may be the best Xenoblade game out of the 3, it doesn't need the anime style graphics but I guess that I would take it if they go for the anime style ..

Re: Japanese Charts: Astral Chain Just Misses Out On Number One As Switch Sales Soar

LightBeam

Well ... Still kinda sad to see Azur Lane first I guess. But sales for Astral Chain are still really good, and that's a good sign. I'm glad that the game is selling, it's a really great game, one of the best on the console imho.

I still think it's very stupid to talk about "bad taste" about Japan. It's true that this kind of garbage seems to sell very easily, but don't forget that here too, there's a lot of garbage that sells too easily too, like Call of Duty that looks like the last one, AAAs that openly don't care about players, EA and Activision games too, in short you see the trick.
It's just a different market with different tastes, but like in our country, trash stuff sells best, it's just not the same trash.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Won't Support Pokémon Global Link

LightBeam

@Spudtendo "If I dislike a game, I don't waste time clicking on articles about it." And what if you used to like Pokemon ? Can't you understand something that easy ? Don't you see that some fans can't just accept the overall quality being lowered as you do ?
People who don't like Pokemon don't talk about Pokemon, it's simple as that. But saying "don't talk about what you don't like" is a dumb argument that a kid wouldn't even dare to make.
For the love of God, please just let people talk about what they want, it's ridiculous now

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Won't Support Pokémon Global Link

LightBeam

@Spudtendo Oh come on, are you serious
Do you seriously think that people complaining on Internet doesn't solve anything ? That it can't be heard ?
What about Sonic the movie ? What about what happened with Ooblets ? What happened just recently about Apex Legends ? Do you think that people complaining on Reddit, IGN or whatever website is useless and that they shall post a letter to the devs ? Or take a car and knock on their door ?
I understand you find it tiring, I know it's sometimes exhausting to have to go through all this flow of negativity, but you know what I do when it happens? I'm just going to look elsewhere for the time it takes, which is what I did when I read your first comment I didn't agree with at all, I know I could have been offended or answered a little meanly if I got carried away, so instead of trying to have a sterile discussion with people who will never agree with me anyway, I prefer the easy solution: scroll down.
But right now I can't really let you say that, it's really too much. The fact that you can say that people who complain don't lead to anything... It's just absurd. I didn't even mention the "it's the noisy minority". This is certainly the case with Pokemon, considering that the majority of them are kids who don't document themselves as much as experienced gamers anyway and who will only wonder why they can't play with their good old Blaziken, but well they will have played the game and at the end they will tell their friends in the playground that it is just a bit lame because of that, that' s all.
But does that mean it's useless to complain? Does that mean that the fanbase is not affected by the bad decisions made by Game Freak? Absolutely not. I'm not going to try to explain to you how complaining on the Internet can directly allow developers to hear, it would be an insult so obvious is it. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea to go against people wanting to express their resentment about a product they like or have liked before.
Complaining is annoying, everyone would never want to have to complain, so to say that people complain because it makes them happy is stupid.
In fact, if no one complained, we would not have stopped having lower quality products over time. Nothing would get better. So in the end, you can be as condescending as you like, but you still enjoy the benefits of other people's complaints, as much as anyone else.

Re: Dragon Quest's The Hero Joins Smash Bros. Ultimate Today

LightBeam

@Paraka Well, the koopalings got canon names while the names Names like "Eleven, etc" were invented by Japanese fans who needed to refer to these characters easily, but there is no such thing in the West. So, calling the characters by the names of Japanese fans would not really make sense, here we can better recognize the silent hero of Dragon Quest if he is just called "Hero" rather than Eleven.
I agree it's better to have a hot name, but it's not, so we deal with it.

Re: Fire Emblem Voice Actor Gets Credit Removed Following Admissions Of Abuse

LightBeam

I don't understand why he got removed from the credits.
He just apologized, I don't think his name will give some bad reputation to Fire Emblem. Asking for an apology is already the first step so I don't know why he should be punished because of that.
He worked on the game, give him the credit he deserves and MAYBE if you still don't want him to be credited, well just don't hire him for other characters.

Re: Class Action Lawsuit Officially Filed Against Nintendo For Switch Joy-Con "Drifting" Issues

LightBeam

Got 4 joycons, all of them are drifting. It's pissing me off. Don't say that it's because people can't take care of things, I have multiple controllers, all are working well, I've always took care of my joycons and even had to send the blue left one to Nintendo to fix the problem with the range and the lag it had when the console launched. They did nothing for the sticks tho. I'm out of warranty so... I'm screwed, I'll have to fix it myself, which is still a pain

I can understand the lawsuit, it feels like they don't even want to fix that so if it can ring some bells at Nintendo, that's good. Can't understand why the pair of joycons I have bought are drifting even thought I made sure to buy them months later the console release so I don't have the problem with the range, I hoped that the joycons would work good but yeah ...

I also don't really understand how people can be ok with the fact that they have to fix themselves the stuff they bought. It's hella expensive and you still have to fix it yourself, how is that ok ? Never had to do that before

Re: Battle Brexit On Switch With Not Tonight: Take Back Control Edition

LightBeam

Who cares about videogames being political ? Breaking news, everything can be politics. So if you are triggered because a game is taking a position you don't agree with, then just don't play it.

I liked reading some of the comments here, it was pretty fun to see that there's really some people who can't see that Trump is actually racist when he says to some people to go back to their country (if you are born in the US ... What should you do ? Got it ? That's why it's racist)
About what he does for the US country, I really don't care that much. I'm not living there so I mind my own business. Even if he's doing a good work that doesn't mean he can't be disgusting.
I'm also laughing at people like the other guy saying that we are all brainwashed in all Europe lmao. Like you know, if you don't see his point of view, then you are brainwashed. It's not because we are outside their country, it's not because we have each our own history as we are multiple countries so we have all different points of view. No. It's because we are all brainwashed by the leftist websites and medias. Thumbs up dude.

Re: We've Re-Translated That Pokémon Sword and Shield Interview Quote

LightBeam

@Zuljaras It's not even that they should hire more people, they are already around a hundred (!) but they need to stop working on multiple projects at once.
They were working on Sword and Shield while working on Ultra Sun and Moon, and now they are working on both the next Pokemon game (already ? Well yeah I guess they still need to release that "ultimate" version every generation gets) and Town. Like wtf ?
They just want to release a Pokemon game every year but with Town they also want to be able to survive if the Pokemon Company and Nintendo gets rid of them.

  • the models being used again isn't even the main problem. It's the animations. But again, how would they be able to get new animations if they are working on so many projects at once ?

They sure did every model from scratch when X and Y were released. X wasn't a very good Pokemon, but hey, they did the assets from scratch so to me, that's still great work. It's just that doing some animations isn't their priority. But it's still shameful to see some garbage chinese mobile game ripoff making every model from scratch with actual animations ... and it looks hella great, that's unbelievable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3OVUM3ltFA
Just look at that ffs. Don't tell me that it's because of the costs or whatever, it's made by some random chinese people who don't even have the rights to make this game, they surely have way less money to make this, but Gamefreak can't ?

Re: Feature: Inside The World Of Pokémon ROM Hacks

LightBeam

There go the legal white knights
Is Nintendo Life filled with attorneys? Can't you just enjoy some dedicated people giving hommage to a game they like ?
When a kid is drawing something, will you blame them for posting it because it's breaking the law by using characters they don't own ?
Ffs, most of you don't even know how those romhacks are distributed and there's people there who dare to call them "unlegitimate fans" ? What a world we live in ...

Re: Hands On: This $50 Handheld Plays Pretty Much Every Game From Your Misspent Youth

LightBeam

Lmao it's so funny to see so many people crying over articles about emulation or portable emulation consoles
Stop doing like emulation shouldn't be a thing, you know it was a thing, it's still a thing today and it will always be a thing. When all your cartridges will die, you'll be happy to be able to be able to play some old games which are not being used anymore, by anybody, on tons of hardware. Thanks to emulation we have huge archives of old games that nobody could ever play today if they want to
So nah, selling a console only compatible with cartridges isn't a good idea, at least it's not when you want to make money from it
Cartridges are better, but dump and backups don't die like cartridges and save batteries.
