Re: Is Game Freak "Recycling" 3DS Animations In Pokémon Sword And Shield On Switch?

LightBeam

There's Digimon PSP games with great animations for each Digimon, with camera movements to make it more epic
There's Pokemon Stadium and Battle Revolution which got great animations for every Pokemon, also for idle Pokemons.
There's no excuses now. This looks ridiculous, Nintendo need to do something about the Pokemon games. The problem with Gamefreak is that they are A LOT, it's not just a single little team, there's a lot of people but they are working on too many projects
I feel like Nintendo just have to intervene and give the responsability to another studio, but it will not happen because hey, it's Pokemon, it will sell asf

Re: Tetris 99 Will Soon Have A Tetris Battle Royale Rival

LightBeam

Already tried Tetris on mobile and it was ... kinda bad ? It was slower and controls were a bit frustrating but eh ... I still prefer real controls over touch controls, but I can get over it when I'm in the bus playing a solo game. But an online game ? Well, maybe not.
But I'll try, maybe we'll have a nice surprise.

Re: Realm Royale Is Now Available As A Free Download On Switch

LightBeam

Well, I don't really trust HiRez, I still play Paladins from time to time but Realm Royale has been deserted so now the game is filled with bots and there's a good bunch of problems so eh
Could be pretty funny for a while but like I still don't understand how people would prefer to spend more time on Paladins rather than Overwatch (well, I know some who told me that I've figured out that they just didn't even tried Overwatch), I can't really think about people playing Fortnite and Realm Royale and choosing to spend more time on a less polished, more buggy ... game. It's just funny to change the rules sometimes and play a similar game, but I can't spend the majority of my gaming hours on a HiRez game, I just can't.
And even if you don't like Fortnite, there's just too many BR games (well, at least if you have a Switch and a PC), Apex Legends is by far the best BR ever released imo

Re: Pokémon's Junichi Masuda Explains The Decision To Limit Sword And Shield's Pokédex

LightBeam

@Reigestugatensho Still a cheap excuse. Some games before already had better animations. Heck, even Pokemon Stadium had better ones, and they still can't use those ones for some old Pokemons
You can have ONE attack animation for each Pokemon, no it's not that hard to have only ONE attack animation. As for birds Pokemon, they should at least to make it less ridiculous, like allowing them to fly around and stuff
But saying that they do not allow all the Pokemons because "animations and stuff" while the models are all available since X and Y and they don't even dare make some animations proves that it's just some kind of smokescreen

Re: Pokémon's Junichi Masuda Explains The Decision To Limit Sword And Shield's Pokédex

LightBeam

So that's his excuse
All the Pokemon already have assets, those are the same since X and Y
Animations ? Please, the animations are bad. I really love Pokemon games, but come on, you can't say that the animations take too much work. The Pokemons don't even move when they attack ...
And for balancing ... since the first generation it was never meant to be balanced. It's normal in this game to not have balanced Pokemons, quit doing that. People already know that if they want t some balanced Pokemon fights they can go on Pokemon Showdown for free and that's all

That's maybe the dumbest excuse I have ever heard, I'm sure they will someday release a new version with all the Pokemon available this time ...

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Returning To The Hyrule Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

LightBeam

"I wanted to revisit that Hyrule again and use that world again"

Well, I just hope it doesn't mean they will not use a new map, it would feel too lazy.
I don't mind having a sequel to this wonderful game, but I just hope they don't modify a little bit the map of BoTW (like FarCry Primal did for example) and get us to a whole new map, even if it does mean that the physics etc will be the same, I don't care, the engine is really excellent, just tell another story, on another land

Re: Review: Realm Royale - A Battle Royale That's More Than Just Fortnite With Chickens

LightBeam

@Heavyarms55 Well Warframe is a shooter looter and you'll spend a lot of time doing the same thing sometimes, but it's one of the best games I have ever played and the best F2P on the market imho, no questions asked, but even if there's some pvp modes, the game is 99% coop based so I don't think you will like it if you are not searching for a "destiny"-like experience (even if Destiny isn't as good )

I play both Paladins and Overwatch on PC and yeah, OW is much better imho, would be such a blast to have this on Switch and being able to play it on portable mode
But yeah, concerning multiplayer FPS games there's a huge lack, same thing for racing games, let's just hope that it will get better with time

Re: Review: Realm Royale - A Battle Royale That's More Than Just Fortnite With Chickens

LightBeam

Played this for a while on PC when the alpha was released
It didn't grew well, the devs did some dumb decisions and the playerbase dropped quickly. Even if I don't really like BR games, it used to be my "favorite" BR until Apex came out (cuz Apex is really damn good, the only good BR imho)

It got some good ideas, I liked the classes, the weapons + the system of forges where you can craft weapons, making such a huge noise that you will probably attract ennemies

There's still some good qualities to the game, it's still probably better than Fortnite ... Well, I'd say it's different

But it's buggy asf, there's a LOT of bots, because eh, they need to launch games quickly and when there's not enough people you need to get bots

Whatever, on Switch it could be a lot of fun if you are tired of Fortnite, but Fortnite is more polished and less buggy by far ... HiRez's games are known for being quite buggy

Re: Super Nintendo Emulator Brings HD To Mode 7 Retro Classics

LightBeam

@Kalmaro That's the not the subject at all

You can dump your own roms, afaik that's the only way to play roms legally
But do we really care about Nintendo's position here? I mean, we're not on an official website, and emulation is still part of Nintendo's history, whatever if they want it or not
And there's no problem about a Nintendo website talking about emulation or even hacks, as long as there are no links provided to piracy stuff. Nintendo Life doesn't endorse hacks or emulation by any means, it's just talking about Nintendo related news.
I still don't understand why some people here are that triggered about hacking or emulation, it's just not the same as piracy

Re: Feature: The 50 Best Nintendo Switch Games So Far

LightBeam

Hahaha there's really somebody down here in the comments trying to argue that we should all use the US vocabulary
I guess in Europe we should also abandon the International System of Units and start measuring miles instead of kilometers, after all, the US is the reason the whole universe exists, isn't it @LoveEmpath ?

That's a decent list, but Starlink is taking both 41 and 40th places, please correct that !

Re: Fans Are Remaking Zelda: Link's Awakening In The Style Of A Link To The Past

LightBeam

@RupeeClock They are actually developping this with an engine also developped by a french team, called Solarus. The Solarus Team originally developed some fan games for Zelda too. So for now, they can only use Alttp assets cuz I guess it's the most popular 2D Zelda game.
So the problem is not that they are not "imaginative", it's a lack of ressources, create your own assets for a fan game can be really hard and not everyone can do it

  • there's a lot of people who will like the style of Alttp

I don't understand why some people down here on the comments just say that it's "awful, it's not good, just do something original, there's no point in doing that, why do you trouble yourself", it's just a team of passionates who wants to spend their free time working on a fan game for a franchise they want. Who cares if they get their project shutdown, yes they talk a little about it on Twitter, so what ? When you do something you think is beautiful, ofc you will want to share it, maybe you will get encouraged to do more

I just don't understand why there's so much negativity there, some people are just doing what they like with what they have and some here are just doing that it's bad because they can't do more. It's a fan game ffs, it's not even meant to be sold

Re: Random: Sony's PS4 State Of Play Presentation Made 'Nintendo Direct' Trend On Twitter

LightBeam

And they should continue to do that
I prefer a recorded livestream to a conference, sometimes funny, but a lot of time cringy with a lot of ... nothing ? Just people in costumes trying to sell their game with trailers that will have nothing to do with the final game
But I still like E3, it's fun. There's announcements, I can make fun of things with friends. But when it comes to Nintendo, I want games, I want announcements, I want trailers, and Nintendo Directs are the perfect way to give that. Then the treehouse is there to show more concrete gameplay. That's how it should be made for any big game imo

Re: An Indie Dev Has Already Asked To Work With Nintendo's IP After Seeing Cadence Of Hyrule

LightBeam

I really hope Cadence of Hyrule meets huge success, so Nintendo will be opened to more partnerships
Imagine a world where Nintendo finally let fans create their fan project games (for free ofc, I agree we shouldn't get any money from a project we don't own the rights) and partner with indies to create games for their franchises, it would be the best way to keep their franchises for decades

Re: Review: Modern Combat Blackout - Call Of Duty Has Little To Worry About

LightBeam

@hihelloitsme Yes, it can
But in this case, I don't understand why it's not at minimum 720p (it should support 1080p), except the product being made with pure lazyness.
Anyway, there's no problem with anybody having fun with it, but I am a huge FPS player and I had some motionsickness with it. Coupled with the resolution, the commands and so on ... It's too much for me.

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Physical Pricing Won't Include "Switch Tax"

LightBeam

@Ralizah Curse of the Moon isn't good compared to the other games. You should try the others
Order of Ecclesia is really great, I love it, but it's not a real metroidvania because the levels aren't connected, when you leave an area you can reach another level however you want. But still, it's a great game.
But Circle of the Moon is a pain in the ass for me, I have spent maybe a dozen of hours on it and I've stop because monsters have became too powerful and there's no way to heal yourself (except a little magic trick but it's not efficient)
If you really like modern Castlevania games, play all those on DS, especially Dawn of Sorrow (but play Aria of Sorrow first on GBA)

Re: Rumour: French Gaming Website Suggests Cuphead Could Come To Switch

LightBeam

Jeuxvideo.com are not "'suggesting", they are saying that's confirmed
They have 100% faith on their sources, but eh, I'm not used to them taking their sources that seriously, they said they had all the guarantees and stuff, but except them nobody else know that
So even if they say this is coming and this is true, I'll still take that with a grain of salt
