Wired Productions has shared a brand new trailer which gives us a taste of the multiplayer action we can expect to see in GRIP: Combat Racing, the upcoming futuristic racer on Switch.
Speeding towards its fast-approaching November release on Nintendo's platform, GRIP: Combat Racing is set to offer players a ferociously fast competitive experience, testing reflexes to the limit as you accelerate towards the finish line at blinding speeds. We've been receiving trickles of information surrounding the game for a while now, such as the recently explored 'Carkour' mode, but now it's the multiplayer content's turn to be shown off.
As you can see in the trailer above, the game will feature split-screen play, tournament creation, and online leaderboards. You can get the full rundown thanks to this handy multiplayer features list:
- Split-screen competitive play in both Race and Arena modes
- 10 Player online multiplayer with full lobby and matchmaking support
- Full tournament building support allowing racers to combine race modes and arenas from across GRIP’s galaxy to build bespoke playlists and competitions with friends
- Online leaderboards for Carkour and Race modes
If you're attending EGX this week, you'll be able to go hands-on with the game with a chance to try out the split-screen, LAN and solo play modes.
The game is still scheduled for a 6th November release. Are you looking forward to this one?

Looks just like Rollcage from back in the ps1 days. Hopefully it handles just as well. Definitely one to keep an eye on!
What bothers me is that, those Rollcage-y cars like that, if they flip... don't the wheels need to reverse the direction in which they're spinning? Popping up and driving on a ceiling like in that video would send your vehicle forwards from it's momentum, sure, but the direction the wheels are spinning is counter to the direction you're going... you'd lose all speed at best 'n blow up your gearbox at worst.
It's unrealistic, man.
Why do oi have the impression this is going to be 60fps everywhere except on switch which would probably be 30fps? I mean we'll have to wait to see, we never know.
This is my jam. Race on!
I may take this, looks like Rollcage and it was fun
One question: Do you GRIP on a GRID or in the DIRT?
@Bart_T I know hate it when video games are unrealistic like in well all of them
@LightBeam Definitely gonna have the Rollcage OST on full blast whilst playing this!
@redd214 As far as I know this is paying homage to Rollcage. I think it may have some of the devs of that game developing it..
I'm also keeping my fingers crossed this handles the same as Rollcage rocked!
………...YES!
Forget gameplay, forget fun factor, tracks or cars. The real question is: Will it have cloud saves?
.
.
So, will it? WILL IT!?
@redd214 Thank you! That was going to bother me all day.
60FPS or no deal.
@Bart_T LOL! You're right but who cares?
I'm definitely picking this up. Loved Rollcage back in the PS1 days, and this game was designed specifically as a spiritual successor. Just can't decide between the Switch and PS4 version. They are even the same price, which makes a change.
