Animal Crossing: At Home

god I hated Hollow Knight.
I generally enjoy Metroidvanias. And the combat in this one is entertaining enough, but the rest of the game feels so empty and unappealing.

@ZZalapski still too much for a game that sold at $20 USD on Wii and 3DS.

not for $60 USD, absolutely not, no.

This makes me more excited for City of Wolves, I'm really looking forward to that one.

Also pleasantly surprised to see MK1 still chugging along.

All these leaks are free publicity and hype that Nintendo doesn't have to pay for.

Everything I read about the Switch port before this review was very, very bad.
The Switch is capable of things like Nier Automata, Witcher III, and Doom Eternal. I really, really hope publishers buck this trend of lazy Nintendo ports once Switch 2 rolls around.

I mean, it's not a bad game, but it's also not one held in very high esteem, with a publishing house (Warner Bros) that's looked upon even worse.

I'm not sure why Warner Bros chose to port this over, but oh well. I guess someone will buy it.

As far as I'm concerned, Mojang has made Minecraft what it is today, not Notch.

I'm not interested in this wholly unnecessary vanity project. (Especially since Notch has said many abhorrent things on the record.)

I wouldn't think at a post-Arms Nintendo, they'd be in a rush to make a new Punch Out. But hopefully down the line they could get a studio that isn't Next Level Games to whip something up. Punch Out 99, anyone? Maybe Arms-Out?

I bit the bullet and got this digitally for $6 USD, and had a few fun sessions with it.
But it's not nearly good enough to spend a premium price for a physical edition.

it's the best of both classic and modern Tetris, with even more new stuff, a bunch of modes, and an unforgettable audio visual experience.

I really like the setting, and the art style is nice.
But I would like to see some more gameplay before getting excited.

@timp29 NES Tetris is still the go-to for official competitions around the world, yes.

Tetris DX is a surprise, but a welcome one!
The music isn't as iconic as the GB original, but the glitches make the game real fun to mess around with.

And Tetris NES is still one of the best ways to play classic no-frills Tetris. I've already spent over an hour with it, and it remains a treat ❤️

I hate to see working class devs and other boots-on-the-ground workers lose their job for any reason. I hope they find good work at a better company soon...
because holy smokes Ubisoft is less of a sinking ship, and more of a ship that has burst into flames after crashing into an iceberg and is sinking into the Bermuda Triangle. They are reaping what they've sown, and the games business will be better off once Ubisoft is shut down completely.

there are other, more egregiously salacious games on the eshop than this.
this is a self-inflicted restriction by the developer, seemingly to get pity purchases from people accessing the JP eShop.
weird move, considering Outside published two similar shmups (Cosmo Dreamer and Like Dreamer) on the North American eShop with no problems.

I'm stoked to break my joy-cons by trying to do rolling on them 😅

I got an physical of this game (for Xbox) on the cheap, and it's actually pretty fun. Solid mechanics and fast action.
But Warner Bros insistence on nickel-and-dime DLC at every turn, having to pay to unlock all the cool stuff, and a half-baked expansion that costs more than the "it's always on sale" main game - these are all things that sentenced the game to a grim fate.

I don't blame netherealm. I blame the corporate greed at Warner Bros that is rotted down to the core.

This isn't the first Unpacking clone, and it (sadly) won't be the last.
I'm sure that clone games like this just need to hit a few unsuspecting marks to turn a profit on their asset-flip AI-generated slop. Law of averages and all that. I hate that.
