Everything I read about the Switch port before this review was very, very bad.
The Switch is capable of things like Nier Automata, Witcher III, and Doom Eternal. I really, really hope publishers buck this trend of lazy Nintendo ports once Switch 2 rolls around.
I really hope this is just a whispered rumor!
I wouldn't think at a post-Arms Nintendo, they'd be in a rush to make a new Punch Out. But hopefully down the line they could get a studio that isn't Next Level Games to whip something up. Punch Out 99, anyone? Maybe Arms-Out?
I bit the bullet and got this digitally for $6 USD, and had a few fun sessions with it. But it's not nearly good enough to spend a premium price for a physical edition.
Always and forever on the side of Pocket Pair 🫡
It is shady and downright wrong that The Pokémon Company filed their patents AFTER the release of Pal World. An immoral attempt at monopolization that should be laughed out of any and every court.
I hate to see working class devs and other boots-on-the-ground workers lose their job for any reason. I hope they find good work at a better company soon...
because holy smokes Ubisoft is less of a sinking ship, and more of a ship that has burst into flames after crashing into an iceberg and is sinking into the Bermuda Triangle. They are reaping what they've sown, and the games business will be better off once Ubisoft is shut down completely.
oh PLEASE. 😒🙄
there are other, more egregiously salacious games on the eshop than this.
this is a self-inflicted restriction by the developer, seemingly to get pity purchases from people accessing the JP eShop.
weird move, considering Outside published two similar shmups (Cosmo Dreamer and Like Dreamer) on the North American eShop with no problems.
I got an physical of this game (for Xbox) on the cheap, and it's actually pretty fun. Solid mechanics and fast action. But Warner Bros insistence on nickel-and-dime DLC at every turn, having to pay to unlock all the cool stuff, and a half-baked expansion that costs more than the "it's always on sale" main game - these are all things that sentenced the game to a grim fate.
I don't blame netherealm. I blame the corporate greed at Warner Bros that is rotted down to the core.
This isn't the first Unpacking clone, and it (sadly) won't be the last. I'm sure that clone games like this just need to hit a few unsuspecting marks to turn a profit on their asset-flip AI-generated slop. Law of averages and all that. I hate that.
@PinballBuzzbro You're right and you should say it.
The regular NSO is fine, because for $20 USD a year, you get online play, plus NES/SNES/GB games as a bonus.
The expansion pass though, is an objective rip off, especially at the price of $50 USD for trickle-down emulation and rented DLC.
See, this is exactly the rate NSO should be updated.
None of that slow trickle nonsense.
Over the span of six different console emulators, there should be weekly releases like this. No excuse not to.
So it's not a propriety decision, but a decision made by a third-party? That seems a bit harsh.
I would hope that the Switch 2 will allow online services for the People's Republic again 🫡
It's one of the most well known scenes in gaming, so much so that it's become a full blown meme multiple times over, for multiple generations of people. To say nothing of the fact Aerith's death happened 27 years ago.
People shouldn't have to tiptoe around one of gaming's most well known moments.
Are we also to avoid saying that Soylent Green is people, or that Rosebud is a sled? Better use spoiler tags to talk about the end of Romeo & Juliet too!
Theres a lot of #gamers™ who hem and haw over "artistic vision," until the artistic vision decides to be less lewd/crude. Big win for cognitive dissonance.
I haven't heard much about the Switch version of this game, but what I have heard is nothing good.
Switch can easily run big PS3 ports like Alien Isolation, Resident Evil 5, and Persona 5. There's no reason for Lolipop Chainsaw to run as ragged as it does on it.
My one glaring flaw that keeps me from giving this game a 9, is the lack of crossplay. Which is really inexcusable, considering QuByte added pretty decent crossplay to their re-release of Breaker's Revenge.
But on its own merits, this is a frantically fun fighting game that holds up to the best of NeoGeo's best. The tag mechanics have arguably more intensity than many other entries in the tag fighter sub-genre, and it gets really intense really fast.

Re: Rumour: Developer Resume Suggests Gotham Knights May Be Heading To 'Switch 2'
I mean, it's not a bad game, but it's also not one held in very high esteem, with a publishing house (Warner Bros) that's looked upon even worse.
I'm not sure why Warner Bros chose to port this over, but oh well. I guess someone will buy it.
Re: Original Minecraft Creator Has "Basically Announced" A Spiritual Successor
As far as I'm concerned, Mojang has made Minecraft what it is today, not Notch.
I'm not interested in this wholly unnecessary vanity project. (Especially since Notch has said many abhorrent things on the record.)

Re: Best Tetris Games, Ranked - Switch And Nintendo Systems
no way Tetris Effect is less than #1.
it's the best of both classic and modern Tetris, with even more new stuff, a bunch of modes, and an unforgettable audio visual experience.
how sad.
Re: Sega Is "Evaluating" Its Own Netflix-Style Subscription Service
fam, please just sell me the games so I can keep them for years 🥲
Sega just leaving money on the table for sought after arcade/Saturn/Dreamcast games is wild.

I can't believe Minecraft was Kaiser Soze this whole time.
Re: Okami Sequel Announced, Will Be Directed By Hideki Kamiya
I sincerely and unjokingly hope it's shorter than the first game.
I wanted to love Okami, but god it feels about 30 hours longer than it needs to be.
Re: Video: Here's Your First Look At The Witcher 4's Cinematic Reveal Trailer
@Guitar_bard I feel like this is a safe bet for Switch 2. Maybe delayed after other consoles, but I'd be surprised if it stayed on PS5/Xbox only.
Re: Overcooked Dev Is Teaming Up With Hello Games For More Couch-Co-Op Chaos In 'Stage Fright'
I really like the setting, and the art style is nice.
But I would like to see some more gameplay before getting excited.
Re: Video: Here's Your First Look At The Witcher 4's Cinematic Reveal Trailer
@TimelessJubilee Yes. It looks to be a good jumping on point for me to check out.
Re: Video: Here's Your First Look At The Witcher 4's Cinematic Reveal Trailer
@mereel Good. I'm excited for it.
I've never played a Witcher game before, and I'm looking forward to checking this one out on Xbox (and/or Switch 2).
Re: Bandai Namco Unveils New Pac-Man Game, And It's Probably Not What You Expect

Yikes. I was afraid of this.
Well, onto the wishlist it goes, waiting for a 50% off sale.
Good review, thank you ❤️
Re: Poll: What's The Best Tetris Game? Rate Your Favourites For Our Upcoming Ranking
Tetris Effect is the number one best.
All other answers are based only in nostalgia.
Re: Review: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind (Switch) - The Mightiest Morphin Ever
the fact that all the characters play exactly the same makes this a pass for me.
Re: Round Up: The First Reviews For Super Nintendo World: Donkey Kong Country Are In
@YunoboCo Probably because Mario and Donkey Kong are Nintendo's first icons.
And/or to get that Super Mario Movie brand synergy.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES And Game Boy Color Library With Two More Classics
@timp29 NES Tetris is still the go-to for official competitions around the world, yes.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES And Game Boy Color Library With Two More Classics
Tetris DX is a surprise, but a welcome one!
The music isn't as iconic as the GB original, but the glitches make the game real fun to mess around with.
And Tetris NES is still one of the best ways to play classic no-frills Tetris. I've already spent over an hour with it, and it remains a treat ❤️

3. Kirby Super Star Ultra

Fair enough. As long as the character writing captures the essence of sassy, globetrotting, pulp-adventurer Lara, I'm fine with it.
