I thought GameFreak lacked the knowledge to create modern looking games. It doesn’t make sense that many Nintendo games look modern but GF’s Nintendo games look many generations behind. And then this releases… hmmm.
The cost of Mario Kart World bundled will probably be the last game for SW2 that you can get for less than $70. Every game from now until end of time will cost more.
This weekend I’m playing Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, Xenoblade X DE, and Splatoon 3. I play on Switch Lite and I am still very impressed with the graphics, clarity and sharpness of these games. I’m going to continue enjoying what I currently have until a Switch 2 revision comes out. For what the SW2 currently offers at its price, not worth it.
I’ve had my Switch lite for 3 years, playing Splatoon 3 online, I get about 4 hours. Same with any other games. I actually time it, the battery drains at a rate of 20-25% per hour. If I ever see it move from that then I know my battery is degraded.
As for Switch 2, I’ll wait until a new revision with a more energy efficient SOC is released. I still can’t believe Nintendo went backwards and used a larger more energy inefficient 8nm SOC. Should have be 4nm at its largest, especially for the money they’re asking.
So it’s like I was saying a month ago, Switch 1 games with Switch 2 game upgrades will be used as keycards. The Switch 2, when playing upgraded SW1 games, won’t draw data from the cart, but from a whole digital download.
I wonder if this is how Switch 1 cart BOTW & TOTK, Kirby Forgotten Land will be as well?
Most of all GameCube games had native wide screen. Zelda Ww & TP, SoulCalibur, FZero, the Metroid Primes, Eternal Darkness, these had 16:9 for sure, I had a TV before LCD, a Sony Wega, that has the feature and the games had the feature, as well as progressive scan. These NSO releases should be in wide screen.
@jesse_dylan I believe so as well. I think the editors of this website can’t put two and two together or purposefully refuse to do so as a means of spreading hysteria, thus driving more engagement, aka comments, than a truthful article would produce.
It sounds like Microsoft Game Assist is a technology that is used as a guide to help you through a game like a walkthrough. My guess is that it runs in the background or beside the game you’re playing. Maybe this is a feature Microsoft and Nintendo are bringing to Switch 2. And I can see the other games on this list coming to Switch 2. I myself did use Microsoft Copilot on my iPhone for help XB: Chronicles X DE when I began playing since I didn’t understand certain things about the game at first. The answers were actually really good.
I’ll be playing on my Switch 1, also checking videos as to whether a USA region Switch 2 can play Japanese region Switch 1 and 2 games, physical and digital? I am also practicing the art of enjoying what I already have.
The new case design, red color over done to extreme, and the key cards are all sickening, as is the drip feed of info from Nintendo. Had they revealed all of the drip feed news at once, a lot of the frustration and speculation would have not happened. I’m say, if they would have came out and said, Switch 1 games are emulated thus only select games will preform better on Switch 2, that would have been an honest thing to do.
I was expecting the switch 2 to increase resolution for all switch games and frame rate for uncapped games without need for special tweaks from Nintendo. Similar to how pc gaming is. I don’t know why people are ok with this drip feed of enhancements. Years and months ago we were all hoping for across the board improvements for just about any switch games you pop into the switch 2. Now we’re ok will 12.
I’m ghosting the Switch 2, to expensive, to many unanswered questions, and I have to many good games on Switch to play and enjoy without spending more on a new system.
What happened to Nintendo’s idea of using mature, affordable, withered technology? I doubt every Switch 2 game needs faster speeds, Maybe some smaller games like puyo puyo, Tetris, indies, could use Switch 1 carts.
No, I hate subscriptions. I feel pressured to be online gaming otherwise I’m wasting my money or my skills are dulling. Meanwhile I am also hating online because there are so many solo games calling me yet I cannot play them because then I would be wasting my online subscription.
@johnedwin This is why I think Switch 2 might have needed a bit more unique hardware, or Nintendo will need to create extremely well crafted games to help people overlook the power differential from a PlayStation 6.
While I like fun hardware and unique hardware interaction, it really is about the games. The Switch 1 was so popular, getting so many games, especially 3rd party, entire series of remasters, that unless the Switch 2 releases some very compelling games, I won’t have any reason to upgrade from Switch 1. I have entire series remastered that I’ve never experienced to keep me occupied for the entire Switch 2 generation. I really wonder how many remasters or re-releases are left for Nintendo and 3rd parties when they all pretty much exhausted just about every series they have on the Switch 1. With that steam nearly dried up, and without the novelty of super unique hardware, Nintendo and 3rd parties will need to drastically increase their creativity for new games to make up for the low appeal of such similar hardware.
IDK about other people experiences but all of my Nintendo Online friends are strangers. I don’t know a thing about them. I met them in Splatoon 3. They added me, I added them, based on how we played together, how we dressed, how we looked at each other, squid partied, who knows. But some of my friends (strangers), we have played together many times. We do not schedule, do not communicate in any way, but simply happen to play around the same time of the night.
So when this article suggests that contact with Switch 2 friends will be ok because we “know” our friends, I’m not sure about that.
Of my friends (strangers), I can tell you that what I know is what I can deduce from their name, profile picture, games they play, and how they behave in Splatoon. For example, my friend Frijoles, might be Hispanic, is a mother because she later changed her name to bri : ) and then to I Hate Kids followed by many hours put into fortnight before the profile name was changed back to bri : ) and Splatoon being played again.
I have another friend who I believe to be a man because he dresses like a man in Splatoon. We’ve played a lot together in the past, at night. Their name was 707 before recently changing it to My Left Nut. Hmmm, maybe this friend is a teenage boy who stays up late. I thought otherwise, but without communication, how was I to know who I’m playing with? I’m just making educated guesses. I mean, I have another “friend” named DREAMY, dressed like a girl, are they a girl, probably based on the other games they play, are they hyper active, maybe, based on how they behave in Splatoon, or maybe they are just good fun to play with. And when this person plays serious , they are good, I mean X rank good.
My point is, Switch 2 online will be an open window, perhaps a shock, a surprise. Will I speak their language? I have several friends with Japanese names as well from Splatoon.
My point is, articles like this one, assume that NSO is full of “real” friends. Friends currently talking on the Phone App or discord. I’m an example of the opposite. I believe that my experience is much more in-line with how Nintendo expects people to add friends based on who you play with, whether that be Splatoon online, Luigi’s Madison online, Smash online, etc.
Based on Switch 1’s online experience, how are us stranger-friends supposed to communicate with each other? How would we even share our actual contact details. We just have our player name, how we dress, what games we play and at what time of day/night we play.
I have a special edition Pokemon Sword and Shield Switch Lite that I’ve used since 2021. Last month I replaced the sticks with Hall Effect. I was able to carefully peel off the original red and blue joy stick tops and the black Hall Effect tops and then carefully fold the original tops onto the new sticks. I had to use small side cutters to remove internal nubs from the underside of original rubber tops. They look and perform perfect now.
If I were to trade in my system it would be on my terms on eBay for more money that GameStop is willing to give.
Additionally, we still don’t know how Switch 1 games will perform on a Switch 2. All we heard about was upgrades for a purchase for a few games. But what about the rest? Until I know for sure, I’m not interested in the Switch 2 or it’s games they have announced.
I have lots of games, 1st and 3rd party yet to play that I own. I will continue playing them on my Lite until Nintendo convinced me that the Switch 2 will improve handheld render resolution at the very least for non upgrade games.
Doesn’t Switch 2 play Switch 1 games at higher fps and resolution without the need for what ever that is they are selling for BOTW and TOTK? I thought Switch 1 games simply got these simple fps/res boost. I’m not rebuying my games.
Why don’t they release the real price in $ and €. Why only in ¥? Aren’t NOA & NOE briefed? I am peeved because it’s been this way for all the various S2 prices talked about so far. It’s all based off the ¥.
Just as I said months ago, do they expect us to use the mouse on our knee or couch arm rest, I had enough of that in the mid 2000’s with a laptop hooked up to a TV.
When I buy physical games I appreciate it when the cover can be used as a beautiful piece of artwork that I can set on a shelf and look at. Considering that we would be paying more money for the S2 version, I would definitely feel very annoyed by all the text, QR code and over abundance of the color red.
What this amounts to is milking gamers for more money and milking BOTW for another 4-8 years at full price. As for the Zelda’s being included it the NSO+ subscription, what happens when you don’t renew the NSO+ subscription a year later? Do you lose access to these updates for BOTW & TOTK?
If you don’t have a Japanese bank card you won’t be able to purchase from Nintendo’s Japanese My Nintendo Store. Also Nintendo recently removed foreign bank cards from being able to purchase from the Japanese eShop. With Switch 1 your only options are import websites and eShop Prepaid Online Codes (eShop gift cards) from Amazon Japan. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo shut down eShop gift cards too, and made registration of the Japanese model tied to a Japanese bank card as well.
All of it is too expensive, and Nintendo games never go on sale. I absolutely won’t be buying until three years in. By then maybe new prices will drop and second hand prices will have dropped further. I have over 10 Switch games to play yet, generally it takes me a good 6 months to a year for a large game.
@Automated_Unit_4937 With Nintendo’s Today! app, Nintendo may be positioning themselves to completely pull out of X, BlueSky and all others. Makes sense as they won’t have to pay X for the checkmark and Nintendo will have full control over their media coverage. A more DIRECT mode of engagement for their fans. We don’t need FB, X, BS; at least I don’t. It’s all drama. I do like the mature look but I also hope Nintendo comes out with some nicely colored button variations of this console.
Ok, why aren’t all the Nintendo apps rolled into one. My Nintendo, Nintendo Music, Nintendo Today!, Nintendo Family Management. Wow!
Additionally, I thought about getting the Nintendo Today! app, but at sign-in my iPhone pops up a message saying that DEEPEN wants permission to access my Nintendo Account information. Who is Deepen? Considering that all my digital games are tied to this account, I do not feel comfortable using an app where Nintendo decides to use a third party for login. No thanks.

This is all disappointing news to me. You see, I was hoping that all Switch games would get a boost from the new hardware. Reason being that hacked Switch’s whose clock speeds have been increased, usually see an improvement in frame rate. Not only that, but the new hardware is rumored to have upscaling tech, which can hopefully upscale sub 720p games to 1080p or higher.
Considering that most Switch games, docked, already increased their clock speeds for an increased resolution to 1080p compared to running the same game in handheld form, why couldn’t the Switch 2 do this for Switch games while in handheld form? Here is an example: FF XII and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 run at 540p in handheld but when docked run at 1080p; additionally, the frame rate might go up. Now imagine that the Switch 2 could have a mode in which handheld Switch 1 games are ran as if they were docked. Every Switch 1 handheld game would get a free upgrade in resolution and possibly frame rate. Of course this means increased demand on the handheld system, but new chip technology should be able to do what was once a hot and power hungry task as a cool and battery efficient task.
The truth that a hacked Switch (both docked and handheld) with increased clocks and the truth that docked Switches with the default increased clocks, both improve resolution and sometimes frame rate, proves that the Switch 2 only needs to increase clocks and use upscaleing and maybe frame generation to improve every single Switch 1 game for free without any special editions or downloads.
Very poor. What need did it meet? None of these games interest me. Not many of these games are very high profile. Many came without release dates, so why bother. I was hoping for a lot more. I know Switch 2 is coming but there is no way I’m getting one until a year or three after release. Nintendo could still support the 100’s of millions of Switch owners with some Kirby, Zelda Oracle, Minish remakes, Fire Emblem, even Luigi’s Mansion 1.
Why would a PS6 release anytime soon? PS5 has barely got started on releasing games. If I were a PS5 owner I would be insulted with a PS6 release as I would feel that the PS5 was unfinished.
I had no idea that Keiji Inafune of Megaman and Zero fame was involved in this project. I’m not really a big fan of his work so I don’t pay much attention to him. Fantasy Life looks interesting, but I don’t know much about it either.
All the Wario games are nice, all of them. But I don’t understand why they made so many micro games and not another Land type game, those were my favorite. Also, I don’t like what Wario became in these last 20 years, a farting man. He meant so much more to me in Land 1, 2, 3.
I don’t see anyone wanting $300. I got my Switch Lite three years ago, I can wait three more years to get a Switch 2 Lite for less than $300 new or like-new.
What does a Zoomer shooter look like? I think this game has nothing in common with original doom, wolfenstein, quake, counter strike, half life, halo, golden eye, time splitters.
Rather, this game has more twitch based gameplay in common with Zoomer shooter Overwatch.

Re: Talking Point: Which Switch Game Needs A 'Nintendo Switch 2 Edition' The Most?
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?
Re: New Nintendo Patent Hints At Improved Voice Chat On Switch 2
The C button is a Push to Chat button.
Re: Analyst Expects Switch 2 To Sell Like Hot Cakes In Its First Quarter
Why would a PS6 release anytime soon? PS5 has barely got started on releasing games. If I were a PS5 owner I would be insulted with a PS6 release as I would feel that the PS5 was unfinished.
Re: Fantasy Life i Development Was Restructured In 2024 As Keiji Inafune Left Company
I had no idea that Keiji Inafune of Megaman and Zero fame was involved in this project. I’m not really a big fan of his work so I don’t pay much attention to him. Fantasy Life looks interesting, but I don’t know much about it either.
Re: Nintendo "Establishing Ways To Respond" To U.S. Tariffs, Says Furukawa
I’m not paying more than $300 on a Switch 2 no matter what. I have enough games on Switch 1 to last me years. I’m happy with it.
Re: Best Wario Games Of All Time
All the Wario games are nice, all of them. But I don’t understand why they made so many micro games and not another Land type game, those were my favorite. Also, I don’t like what Wario became in these last 20 years, a farting man. He meant so much more to me in Land 1, 2, 3.
Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo's Thinking About Affordability With Switch 2 Pricing
I don’t see anyone wanting $300. I got my Switch Lite three years ago, I can wait three more years to get a Switch 2 Lite for less than $300 new or like-new.
Re: Absurd Boomer Shooter 'Turbo Overkill' Shadow Drops On Switch
What does a Zoomer shooter look like? I think this game has nothing in common with original doom, wolfenstein, quake, counter strike, half life, halo, golden eye, time splitters.
Rather, this game has more twitch based gameplay in common with Zoomer shooter Overwatch.
