Re: Poll: The Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Demo Is Now Available, What Are Your First Impressions?

Kang81

I haven't played a traditional turn based RPG since Golden Sun 1 & 2. I was never a major JRPG fan to begin with, I just dabbled in them and nothing since Golden Sun 2 had interested me enough to try.

That said, I rushed through the demo on Switch 2, skipping everything to get to the combat to test it out. Now that I know it's the combat I wanted I plan to replay the demo.

The lighthearted tone of the game along with the visuals, are extremely appealing. Appealing enough to rekindle my enjoyment with traditional JRPG's that I purchased the HD-2D remakes of DQ 1-3 along with DQ11S for the Switch to have physical editions on the go.

I'm looking forward to the game but I think I may try to beat 1-3 before playing 7 Reimagined.

I'll be buying the Switch 1 version for a portable physical copy and will likely buy it digitally on Switch 2 whenever it goes on sale for the improved visuals/performance.

I'm just disappointed that DQ HD-2D 3 was the only game to get enhancements for the Switch 2.

I wish Golden Sun 1&2 would get remasters because trying to read them on NSO due to the low resolution is difficult.

Re: Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Has Been Rated By PEGI

Kang81

I never finished Black Flag because of the switch to the PS4 generation and purchasing the game twice and getting burned out repeating everything up to earning the diving bell a second time.

I'm interested in what the remake does and if enough has been improved upon I may finally try and beat the game.

That being said, I would love the entire AC franchise to release on the Switch 2. I already own most of the games on PC as well as PlayStation, but not having to use Ubisoft Connect/online check requirements to play on the go, I'd triple dip when they're on sale.

I would really love Odyssey and Unity on Switch 2.

Re: Digital Foundry Dives Into Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition's "Big Downgrades" On Switch 2

Kang81

I've already played this arguably great game on multiple systems, multiple times.

My biggest issue is the publisher shadow dropped a port of the first game in the survivor trilogy when I and a lot of other fans want the remake/remastered versions of the Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary/Underworld games. The pinnacle of the franchise for me.

This just leads me to believe we won't get one or it will be a long time before we do. Even then, will they be lazy ports or actually updated versions.

Re: Review: JSAUX All-In-One Carry Case For Switch 2 - Rugged, Robust, And Just Really Good

Kang81

@Debo626

I just received my Satisfye Grip and slim case yesterday. The grip is as expected but with the added benefit of being able to remain on when docked which is nice.

The slim case I don't like. For a slim case it's huge, it feels less sturdy than the original cases for the Switch 1 and they swapped out the nice textured material for cheap faux leather.

I'm hoping Satisfye releases another elite/pro case with storage options. If it ends up being much bigger than their slim case I'll just get another one of the cases I use for my Steam Deck. It's smaller and fits the console in the grip and has storage options.

Re: Review: Everybody's Golf Hot Shots (Switch) - Silly, Satisfying, But Hampered By Patchy Performance & Presentation

Kang81

Bad performance in a game like Hot Shots Golf is inexcusable. In no way should it be taxing the Switch 2 or the Switch 1 for that matter.

I'll wait to see if patches fix things up before I make a purchase decision. I love the series and would much rather play on the go. If not, I'll stick with Everybody's Golf on PS4/PS5 and the mobile port of Clap Hanz Golf/Easy Come Easy Golf on Switch/Switch 2.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed

Kang81

The open world looks boring and bland going off the trailer. Plus, a desert setting is about as boring as it can get.

I'd have preferred larger open areas interconnected to each other instead. Along the lines of the Tomb Raider games or newest God of War games.

Who knows, maybe that is what they're doing and the desert area is one of many larger areas making it feel open world.

I guess we'll find out on December. So far I'm not too excited.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed

@sketchturner

I wouldn't be surprised to see it just re-released as is on Nintendo Switch Online. They already took the easy way out doing that to Wind Waker instead of porting the updated Wii U version. They'll likely do the same with Twilight Princess. 😑

That really annoys me. I always expected that to be the case, Nintendo needs to sell their online service somehow. Still don't like it.

I guess I can still just play them all on my Steam Deck but it's not ideal.

Re: Best Pixel Art Nintendo Switch Games

Kang81

I would recommend adding Crossing Souls. I love it to death and it oozes 80s nostalgia.

It has that typical but oh so good 'group of friends going on an adventure' schtick and I'm all about that.

I still love pixel art, but I have my limits. I don't want anymore Atari level pixel art, I had enough of that as a kid.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 Rating Spotted Online

Kang81

@mikegamer

I would love to see the entire franchise on Switch 2, but I won't get my hopes up.

I agree about Unity though, it's one of my favorites in the series. I'm currently replaying it on the steam deck and having it on the go is a great feeling.

Re: Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Will "Mostly" Run At 30fps

Kang81

@Mgalens

30 fps is what should be expected for AAA games on Switch, but a stable 30 fps should be the minimum.

I wouldn't get Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 anyway because it's clearly designed for the PS5 and XSX which are vastly more powerful than the Switch 2.

Re: PSA: You Might Want To Be Careful Buying Pre-Owned Switch 1 Games For Your Switch 2

Kang81

@pepsilover2008

Hey fellow GameFly user. I've had the same concern.

I purchased a DS game brand new from Amazon years ago that I found out was a bootleg cart when I tried to play it in my 3DS about a year later. It turns out I actually bought it from a 3rd party seller and not Amazon themselves.

I still don't like how Amazon is basically eBay now, but it was the first bootleg I've ever inadvertently purchased.

My point is, we can buy used games, keep games from GameFly, or buy supposedly new games just to have them end up bricking our Switch 2's because we have no clue if they're legit copies or not.

Makes renting and buying used a sketchy and worrisome matter. Best case scenario is we keep our receipts both digital and the ones that come in our cases if we keep games.

I guess we could show our rental history to show we rented the game but Nintendo may look at that and say we're SoL because they didn't get paid for it.

Re: Critically-Panned 'Borderlands' Movie Flops At The Box Office

Kang81

Good, deservedly so to. Stop phoning in these movies thinking fans of the games will eat them up. Lose money like this enough and maybe, just maybe movie studios will learn to not phone in these movies or not to make them at all.

I'd say it's a win/win for fans of these games.

Take it serious, or don't bother.
