So what this basically means is that as long as a company has consumers agree to an EULA, said company can freely make faulty products and consumers have no recourse?
Got it!
Before anyone says, "but Nintendo fixes Joy-Con for free, just send it in!"
They didn't always, and they do now to avoid losing any lawsuits and save face.
That's another aspect of the job I often forget about. Yes, there are a lot of roles out there, but there is also a lot of talent. It's contract work, so you never really know when you'll have work, even worse for lesser established voice actors than the small handful most people know.
I'm sure they don't get health insurance either, which is not cheap.
To the people saying it's an easy job, I'm sure it's not. If it was, I'd being in the voice acting business instead of breaking my back at work. ππ€¦ββοΈ
$4,000 is a pittance compared to what these publishers and studios pay to have Hollywood actors in their games. Professional voice actors aren't just a John/Jane Doe like you and me roleplaying a character. Just compare any low budget game with horrible voice acting to something like Uncharted, The Last of Us, etc. Because sure, you and I can easily pull off emotional performances like that.
If they were only going to pay the original voice actress Hellena Taylor $4,000, I highly doubt Jennifer Hale of all people recieved that same offer or less.
I dont know the average payout for voice acting, but this seems very low. I imagine getting Hollywood actors costs publishers and studios millions, so to see only $4,000 because your not Hollywood talent? Yeah, that's BS.
While I had played a bit of the original and Zelda II on the NES as a kid, I didn't get into gaming until late in the SNES's lifetime.
My first true Zelda experience was Link's Awakening on the GameBoy. It was a gift from my mother along with the GameBoy itself way back when. It was also one of the games that initially got me interested in games at all. It led to getting the SNES where I truly started to love video games.
Games like Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. Allstars (the best Mario game collection ever), the Donkey Kong Country trilogy (best platformers EVER!), Mega Man X, and Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. The Final Fantasy that I hear FF fans claim to be the black sheep of the franchise or just an Americanized FF game. I don't care, I enjoyed it and it still has one of the best video game soundtracks EVER!
One of my absolute favorite Zelda games is The Minish Cap. I want a sequel to that more than any other Zelda game. Yes, even BotW 2, as I wasn't a huge fan of BotW.
I dont remember even having a crouch option, but I stopped playing long ago. While Dead Cells is one of the best feeling Metroidvania style games to play, I just cannot get behind Roguelikes, despite my trying with this and Hades.
Both great games, but both games I would have preferred to be single player narrative games. Perhaps with an added roguelike mode for those fans.
Still glad to see these developers enjoy their massive successes.
I signed up for Paramount+ to check out the new shows. For some reason I went with the animated shows first.
Prodigy is so-so, definitely geared towards a younger audience and is pushing more of a Star Wars feel than typical Trek.
Lower Decks, oh man, I LOVE Lower Decks! It recaptures that TNG era so well, and the cast and characters are all genuinely great in both writing and acting. I haven't felt this good about Star Trek in forever, I never would have expected an animated comedy series to be the one to bring me back.
I hope Strange New Worlds is as good as I hear. I've heard Picard has been going downhill, and I dont remember the details, but I recall there being some kind of hate towards Discovery.
This brings back memories of me almost being late for my job often because I was making sure the VCR was set to record so I could watch the show after work. Haha
Most of those games are good, Wolfenstein however is horrible visually. At least in handheld mode.
I bought it to play on a trip to visit family in Texas back when it came out. The dynamic resolution was horrible, as were the dynamic textures.
More often than not the characters look so blurry I find the game to be unplayable.
I'd say the best example of a port done right on Switch is the Witcher 3 though. It still amazes me how good it looks and handles, from what ive played anyway.
I tried the original, didn't really care for it. Obvious campy feel and emphasis on overt sexual themes aside, I just don't seem to like anything from Suda 51.
That being said, I expect this to be either toned down or censored with the remaster. Which I am strongly against, whether I think the game is good or not. I am not a fan censorship in any way.
If anything, I expect a lesser experience for fans playing this on a Sony console as Sony is going full force on censorship as of late. Even Nintendo let's more slide these days then Sony, which is a joke.
A remaster of RDR on the other hand I would have loved. Even more so due to the fact that R* made RDR2 such a chore to play I gave up and have no desire to ever go back to it.
It's a hope, but whenever I mention the game, not many people seem to know it. It may have been my first Diablo-like game, unless Baldur's Gate Fark Alliance (the good one!) released first. But I think it was after.
I appreciate that Microsoft has this function. I feel Sony and Nintendo don't want it as they feel it will impact profits of their stores in negative ways.
I also hate how Netflix removed the 5 stars rating for a thumbs up. π
In all honesty, the entirety of Nintendo's online store is a failure. In this day and age, with the money Nintendo makes, the eShop is a joke in usability as well as functionality. Even the web based store is horrible and functions poorly.
I just stopped using it unless I know exactly what I'm looking for and search for it specifically. I appreciate some of the Youtuber's out there and sites like NintendoLife that take the trouble to browse the store and post the deals when they do.
I saw this article in my Google feed and was going to just ignore it thinking it'd just be another stability update, I'm glad I clicked on it afterall.
Now, hopefully we don't have to wait that long for the PS5 to get folders. π
This is cool that it's being ported to the Switch, but after enjoying the improved performance and load times on the PS5 version, I don't think I could handle the load times on Switch.
If I were to play this on the go, I'd at least play it on the Steam Deck over the Switch. Cool its coming though because I think it's a great game and the dev team have done some amazing work and an equally amazing come back with this game.
Seriously, I just hopped on the store last night, even the majority of the coming soon section was filled with shovelware.
I'm so sick of the eShop and Nintendoβs complete inability to do anything meaningful about curating games, sales, and the over abundance of shovelware. I dont even know why I bother to look at the eShop or any articles regarding eShop sales anymore. /rant
In other words, don't expect Metroid Prime 4 to release on Switch. It will be an exclusive for the New Nintendo Switch Expansion System, launching in 2026.
I was glad I noticed it was on Game Pass, because I almost bought it for Switch, and I would have been pretty disappointed.
I did discover a Metroidvania I had somehow missed on Switch called Feudal Alloy. It's got a few annoying quirks, mainly the equipment menu is pretty lackluster making it a bit difficult to know what your equipping and comparing, but I love the music and it's nice to have a game in the genre that's not dark, Gothic, or brooding.
I like the mechanic of overheating, so far, but im still really early in the game.
I recently tried Touhou Luna Nights on Game Pass. It's beautifully animated and had some nice ideas. However, I did not like the main attack mechanic in which you could lose the ability to attack at all by running out of a meter. The awkward idea of purposely getting hit to refill said attack meter was equally annoying.
I would have enjoyed continuing to play the game had it not been for that.
Coincidentally, Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is also on Game Pass. I'll give it a try this week. The last Record of Lodoss War game I played was a Diablo clone on the Dreamcast and I adored it.
This looks amazing! However, I'm really tired of game announcements/reveals with a release date more than 6 months away. If this even releases on time without a delay.
It was boring, cringeworthy, and as usual, a complete waste of time and money.
This is only the second time I've ever watched the awards. I watched the original, thought it was a waste and never watched it again until last night.
I'm not sure why I watched last night. Probably because I've been a bit disinterested in actually playing games lately and needed something to entertain me while relaxing after work and eating dinner.
The only good thing about the awards was the fun I had texting back and forth with my brother about how bad everything was. π€·ββοΈ
I'm looking forward to this. I was never big on anime, but I did love the original Record of Lodoss War when it was airing back on the Sci-Fi channel back in the early 90's.
I recall grabbing a copy of Record of Lodoss War for the Dreamcast. It was a single player Diablo-like, and honestly, is still one of my favorites in the genre. I wish there was a way to play it without unboxing my Dreamcast.
It would have been amazing in co-op, but it resulted in a different kind of shared experience for my brother and I. We would constantly call each other on the phone or go visit each other to compare our progress and loot. It was different, but its a favorite gaming memory of ours.
Tabletop games has never been a thing for me, but my brother has partaken occasionally. It's most likely I don't know enough people in real life that are gamers of any kind, and the few I do know are the more casual CoD, sports game type.

It's not? Dang!
I adore DS9, well, until the later seasons focused on one overarching plot about the worst part of the show. The prophets and Bajor.
I much preferred DS9 when it was like TNG and Voyager in which each episode was it's own story with the occasional two part storyline.

I haven't read them yet, but my brother did mention it to me.
**Edit** Did a quick Google search.
I'm still not too concerned, even playing indie games, I only get about 3 hours tops on my Switch.
My Switch and upcoming Steam Deck aren't devices I generally use or will use away from an outlet or at least having a large battery pack with me.
I mostly use my Switch on lunch break at work or while being in the same room as my wife while she watches some boring TV show.
I'm probably not the most common type of user for the Switch/Steam Deck though.
