Re: Nintendo Switch Now Has Over 6700 Third-Party Games

Kang81

@Jeff2sayshi

I have definitely bought games most people would consider shovelware, but in reality, the vast majority off those 6700 3rd party games are highly likely shovelware or lazily ported mobile games that end up charging consumers 3-4 times the price of their mobile counterparts.

Re: Random: Chris Pratt Will Also Be The Voice Of Garfield

Kang81

Lorenzo Music is Garfield, he can never be replaced for me.

Fun fact: He also voiced Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters cartoon. While the real Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) voiced Garfield in the live action movies.

Bill Murray did a decent job, unfortunately everything else about the live action movies were horrible.

Re: Tomb Raider Will Finally Make Its Switch Debut With Two Lara Croft Titles In 2022

Kang81

OMG!!! YES!!!!

These have been on my most requested ports since the Switch was announced!

I am freaking over the moon right now!

Now how about porting Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld to Switch? I'd take all of these over ports of the most recent reboot.

I love the recent reboot, but the earlier TR games from Crystal Dynamics are some of my absolute favorites!

Re: Darksiders III Is Out On Switch Today, Here's The Launch Trailer

Kang81

@Rpg-lover

I was really down on it originally, but once you make it a few hours in, the Souls-like BS is less relevant.

I'm not a fan of Souls-like games, but I'm fine with knowing they're just not games for me.

Where I take issue, which was the case with DS3, is completely changing a core design.

Yes, Darksiders 2 was different in comparison to Darksiders, but they were still essentially hack n slash adventure games. They were never difficult and always more of a basic combo mashing action game.

It was Darksiders 3 pushing for a more precise action game focused on counters but still button mashing combos. I just felt it wasn't implemented well. Fighting in groups was the biggest issue. Being able to get hit in the back by an enemy, even while I'm mid parry with the enemy in front of me felt cheap.

Even that could have been tolerated, except when cheap hits like that killed you and you had to go back to the start of an area, re-fight your way to your lost souls, and claim them before dying again.

I do think that when I did finally go back to try again a few months ago, the devs added in more fast travel/respawn checkpoints which lessened the blow of dying.

I appreciate that the devs try changing things up each game to avoid them becoming stale, but sometimes it's a hit, other times it's a miss. I think DS3 was a miss.

Of course, having no open hub to explore was disappointing, and removing one of the core features of the series in DS3 was a really poor design choice. I won't say what it is for spoiler reasons, but anyone who is familiar with the series and played the first few hours of DS3 will know what I'm talking about.

I do want to point out that Darksiders Genesis is a hot in my opinion. I really enjoy it as a complementary style game to go along with the main games. I hope we continue to get both styles in the future.

Lastly, considering how fun Remnant from the Ashes is, I'd say there is a good chance we may eventually get a 4 player co-op finale to the series. I highly expect a Strife game to tell the same story although from the sidelines again as we've seen in the first 3 games.

Re: The First Switch OLED Comparison Video Has Surfaced

Kang81

Looks nice, but not enough for me to upgrade. I do however want the new dock. I've used my dock once, but that was in part to all the stories of it scratching screens or warping the system form heat build up in the early days of the Switch.

However, my left joy-con drift is bugging me so much I'm wanting to use my Switch docked now with the pro controller.

@Clarice

Appreciated, and as I replied to another person, I dont blurt them out looking for sympathy or anything, I think it's just a way to get it off my chest. Particularly since covid has limited my interactions with family and friends as of late.

I'll say this, I'm really glad for video games. They're one of the few things that can totally absorb my mind. TV, reading, playing or practicing music just doesn't occupy the same amount of my thoughts as games.

I'll say this, it does make you wiser, and unfortunately older, but I know how to avoid things in the future now. Haha

Re: Nintendo 64 And Sega Genesis 'Expansion Pack' Announced For Switch Online, Launches This October

@russell-marlow

I've heard about Dolphin, but never messed with it as I’m generally not a PC gamer. But I'd love to try it out. Even the thought of trying BotW with mods sounds interesting, provided it would work. I have no clue, I stopped keeping up with techie stuff for far too long now.

There are just so many possibilities for the Steam Deck. Bonus points for Sony releasing games on PC now. So I'll finally get an unofficial Vita 2!

Re: Nintendo 64 And Sega Genesis Expansion Pack Announced For Switch Online, Launches This October

Kang81

@russell-marlow

I agree, and I begrudgingly signed up just for cloud saves because I had some corrupted save files on my Switch in the past.

Even more than free cloud save functionality, consumers should be allowed to manually back up their games save files. I find it really frustrating.

EDIT

I am really looking forward to the Steam Deck. It seems more in line with what I always wanted the PSP/Vita and Switch to be.

Re: Nintendo 64 And Sega Genesis Expansion Pack Announced For Switch Online, Launches This October

Kang81

If they increase the price of NSO, I will not be paying. In fact, I just realized my NSO membership lapsed. The NES and SNES apps have never been used on my Switch.

Can we just have a $5 a year plan for cloud saves since that's the only reason I ever used the service to begin with?

Better yet, how about just letting us manually back up our saves so I can skip the service entirely. πŸ™„

Re: Best GameCube Games

@Gryffin

Wait, is Paper Mario: TTYD on Wii U?

Is the store still up? If so I'm checking it out tonight.

I loved my Wii U, though admittedly, it doesn't get used at the moment.

Re: Talking Point: If Nintendo Switch Online Adds Game Boy, Why Not Throw In GBA, Too?

Kang81

More like why not include games from all past Nintendo systems? Easy, Nintendo is just hoarding them for their dry spells.

I love my Switch, and I love some classic Nintendo franchises from the early days until now, but I'm growing real tired of the way they do things.

They got rid of the virtual console, they refuse to fix let alone even acknowledge the massive joy-con drift issue, they are still generations behind in basic online functionality and standardized features. Also, for a company that brags about themselves as being for the masses or for people of all ages, they have the most bare bones accessibility options, heck standard options in general, for nearly all of their games.

I'm actually really looking forward to the Steam Deck. It's the closest thing to a portable console that has an affordable price point, and doesn't sacrifice on tech.

My Switch is mostly used as an indie machine, occasional port machine, and then to play the occasional big Nintendo game. Out of the big N's franchises, I only care about Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, and Luigi.

There is no doubt the Switch is a massive success, but Nintendo needs to step up their game. No company is above criticism, even Nintendo, which doesn't get enough.

Re: WayForward's BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites Sinks Its Teeth Into Switch Next Month

@Einherjar

Same thing with Nolan North, I love the guys work, but he really doesn't change up his tone much. The only time he surprised me was when I found out he was playing the Penguin in Arkham City.

Sadly, Troy Baker is getting up there, but I will say that he at least tries to sound different oftentimes.

As for Laura Bailey, I just can't seem to recall female voice actors much. Perhaps they do a better job of mixing their voices up with each project, or perhaps it's because most games still stick with male protagonists.

I've found myself choosing female when giving the choice just because I'm tired of the macho manly protagonist.

Kassandra from AC Odyssey and Fenyx from Immortals Fenyx Rising are stand outs for me lately. Female Eivor isn't too bad, but im really not fond of either actor for Eivor in AC Valhalla.

Re: Get Up To 70% Off On Select Bethesda Titles During QuakeCon 2021 (North America)

Kang81

It'll never happen, because Bethesda seems keen to make it be forgotten, but I'd love a port of Wolfenstein 2009 developed by Raven Software on Switch.

Heck, I'd love it to be playable via BC on Xbox at the least or the option to buy it on PC digitally. I love the storytelling of Machine Games versions of Wolfenstein, but the gameplay and occult setting of Raven Software's Wolfenstein 2009 is far more enjoyable for me. It's still my favorite Wolfenstein.

Re: The "Foam Pads" In The Zelda Joy-Con Controllers Aren't New

Kang81

@scannerdarkly7

SNES controllers were built pretty good. We had two that survived constant abuse like being thrown to the floor in fits of rage.

Eventually we had to fix one of them ourselves. I can't imagine any of today's controllers lasting after being thrown in a fit of rage.

Which I gladly no longer do anyway. When you get older and pay for your own stuff, you learn quick to stop doing that, or keep spending money. πŸ˜„
